Welcome fellow maintainers to our third thread! Tis the season to be joyful and we do have reasons to be joyful, as we are still here. Not always the perfect journey and full of treats and temptations, but we'd have nothing to talk about otherwise. So hop on the Magical Maintenance Sleigh of Wonder and lets go! (Apologies to all those reading this for the first time in March! I got a bit carried away my festive season puns.)

And sorry, amazing @Tohaveandtoholdthat is such a brilliant achievement! I’ve got no plans to come off at the moment but great to have a real life example of someone who’s making aimed! Thanks so much for sharing.

Wholeheartedly agree with the strategy of everything in moderation. I eat most things, but have less of it, and less regularly.

Very much enjoyed sharing a fruit and nut toblerone with my OH over the last few nights. But the rest of my day was really good, and I exercised. I don't eat a lot of chocolate, and probably won't have any for a few weeks now. 4 months off MJ. It's working for me at the moment.

Placestogo · 21/01/2026 13:00

Thank you all for your words of reassurance - i feel that i am about to start the hard part now, losing weight was the easy part!
first week of titrating down for me. I took 2mg yesterday instead of 2.5mg. My body reacts as if i had taken 2.5mg (little burps, not hungry) lets see how i feel at the end of the week!!

Bomboclat · 21/01/2026 13:31

Hi everyone. Im joining this thread. Ive been titrating down the doses for past 2 months (my max was 7.5) trying to find my perfect maintenance dose where i dont gain, but equally stop losing.

I think the perfect balance for me is somewhere between 3.75 and 5mg. At 5 I still appear to drop 1lb a week, but at 3.75 I have the food noise creeping in.

Ideally I'd stay on MJ forever, its somehow suppressing lots of my peri menopause symptoms (no more random sore joints and inflammation), its stopped my snoring and i feel like my sleep quality is much better, etc.

The fruits with the the most sugar are (generally) bananas, grapes, cherries, pineapple, physalis, mango - with between 20g and 11g carb per 100g. But it is easy to eat 100g mango or banana, not so easy to eat the same amout of pomegranate or physalis. It's all about quantity, and what else you are mixing it with. Rhubarb has very low amounts of sugar, but put it with crumble and custard... different story.

KrankyKumquat · 21/01/2026 17:35

@20bloodypounds
Ooooh, I've a vague memory of crumble and custard. Happy days 😅

So all the nicest, tastiest fruits then. Typical! 🤦‍♀️😂

Thank you for all your kind words, I’ve had a much better day today, I went to work prepared in case the hunger hit again, and it did late afternoon, but I’d brought some satsumas and a small pot of cashews and pumpkin seeds and that was enough to keep me going. I avoided the biscuits! I’ve just had dinner and feel full now thankfully!

I’ve also just jabbed, I usually go 10 days between jabs for financial reasons, today is day 9, I think 10 days is too long now on the lower dose. Will see how this week goes.

My people!

I lost a third of my body weight, 94kg to 60kg. BMI 21. My biggest dose was 3.75mg. I’m really nervous to come off it so now on 2.5mg every 10 days or so and maintaining weight. My appetite is pretty good so suspect I’m now on a placebo dose. I weigh myself every day so that I can titrate my food intake if I lose or gain. Been static since before Xmas so seems to be working.

Nellodee · 22/01/2026 07:42

Hello all! I started in April last year and lost 3 stone. Since November, I’ve been cutting down from 7.5mg one click at a time, currently on 6mg. I can definitely feel the cravings coming back. I never used to be able to resist them at all. Yesterday, I had a craving for a sweet treat immediately after my main meal, which was the old habits clawing their way back. I paused before grabbing something and thought, if I really want this, why have I been paying hundreds of pounds to suppress this craving? Do I prefer new me or old me? Which one do I really WANT to be? And I definitely want to be slim, fit, working out Nellodee, not tired, bloated, low mood Nellodee. I might be craving sugary treats, but I definitely don’t WANT to eat them. It was a strange kind of stand off, but my love of this new healthy body is way stronger than my love of chocolate biscuits (for now, at least). Hopefully I can keep my motivation high as my dose gets low.

My goal is to wean myself down to 2.5mg, mostly for budget reasons. I’m taking it very slowly. I’ve got two full 10mg pens to work my way through but will then have to revert to 2.5 as it will have been far too long since my last order.

MargoLivebetter · 22/01/2026 09:16

Welcome @Bomboclat , @DontKillSteve and @Nellodee . Really hoping I haven't missed anyone. Congratulations on losing all the lbs you wanted to, feeling healthier and getting here.

Every possible option for cutting down, coming off, staying on etc being given a whirl on this thread. So please keep us posted.

Anyone else have wild fluctuations in weight day to day? Yesterday I was 60.5kg and today 62.5 - for no discernible reason!!! I’m post menopausal, no wild change in diet …..???? Maddening!

It's clearly not fat, and probably just water, but maddening nonetheless.

You've not done more (or different) exercise than normal, have you?

Yep. Hormonal here I'm guessing (peri) but what I eat and drink can have an effect too.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 23/01/2026 05:57

Weigh day for me today and I’ve stayed exactly the same again, despite that one bad day so I’m really happy! I’m still 4lbs under target so have some wiggle room which is good. Can also afford to go down more as my target was the top end of a healthy BMI. Feeling a bit more in control of things now. Thanks for all of the reassurance, I’ve found this thread so helpful as I start to navigate this whole maintenence malarkey! i

Nellodee · 23/01/2026 06:24

It’s not just people who have weight fluctuations, but scales as well! I bought one of those body composition scales at Christmas, too try to switch from seeing the numbers go down to seeing the muscles go up. I still have the old scales. There was a discrepancy between them, which I thought I had figured out, of about 3 lbs. Some days the scales weigh 3 lbs differently, but others they weigh exactly the same. My weight fluctuates by a couple of pounds anyway, so I have no idea which scale is accurate.

Fluffypiece · 23/01/2026 06:44

😆 @Nellodee moody scales!! Maybe these fluctuations are down to that !

ive booked a sexa scan that will also do accurate measurement of fat, tdee etc for end of Jan so it will be interesting to see how accurate or not by renpho scales are in terms of all that - will report back!

Thelittlestranger · 23/01/2026 07:54

@Nellodee I had two scales for the same reason since June last year. I finally got rid of the old scales, which weighed me lighter, this month. It was hard as I'm suddenly 'heavier' but I've had to have a talking to myself.

FurForksSake · 23/01/2026 08:01

Ooh I look forward to hearing about your dexa @Fluffypiece that will be really interesting.

Im back down to target, 8st2. I am still wondering whether to move my target to a round 8st but can’t remember which chose this odd point.

I was playing with the nhs bmi calculator and discovered I can lose another 10lbs and still have a healthy bmi. I won’t as I’d be into very teeny tiny territories but it surprised me.

is anyone finding their loose skin is improving? I’m religious on my collagen and it’s helped a tiny bit.

in good news my hair is very much growing back! I’m losing very little now and it’s definitely thickening back out.

LadyClumber · 23/01/2026 08:29

@FurForksSake - I don’t know if it’s the weights, the daily collagen, the application of lashings of Palmers body butter and oil, or my imagination but the loose skin on my stomach seems to be diminishing. Despite the above, my breasts still look like dried prunes!

FurForksSake · 23/01/2026 09:03

My boobs are long gone! I mostly wear crop tops these days as I can barely fill a cup.

I might start moisturising my tummy and thighs and see if I can improve it any more. I think my neck looks better. Someone yesterday told me I had good skin!

MargoLivebetter · 23/01/2026 09:16

@FurForksSake great news that you are back down to target weight. Fantastic end to the week. Good to hear about the skin improvements to for you and @LadyClumber . Mine has also improved over the last year since reaching goal. I'm sure eating more protein helps too.

Good result on your weigh in this morning @MummyInTheNecropolis . You sound much more cheery 😊.

@Fluffypiece I can't weigh daily for that very reason. It sends me a bit mental. I've even decided with weekly weighs that unless the shift is more than 2lb up or down I won't log it, because in one week, it just can't be fat it must be just natural fluctuations - and not anything to make me get all anxty. Will be really interested to hear about your Dexa scan results.

So lovely to read how other people are getting on. I’m still on 2.5mg and the extra kilo I gained over the holidays has now gone, I’m at my lowest ever weight (long may that last).

My hair is still awful but at least the shedding is not as bad. I really hope it will start to grow in thicker soon.

I’m on oushk’s maintenance plan, and am hoping to stay on it indefinitely. Would Oushk try to prevent me doing this at any point (ie after a year or two years of maintenance?). Not sure what their policy is.
