Mounjaro 10 stone or more to lose - Thread 10

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 29/11/2025 12:34

Well, some of us are new, some of us are nearly at our goal weight and the rest are still in the trenches.

Everyone is welcome here. This is a safe and supportive space for people with a lot of weight to lose.

@PearlTeapot I just delighted for you, that you’re clearly making amazing progress and to get such a fantastic birthday present.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne your last posts have made me snort more than once, very much appreciated!

Well done for getting that smear done @Iwouldratherbesinging. I got mine in November and I’m ashamed to admit my last one was pre-Covid because of my general shame around going to the doctor for anything for the exact reasons you describe.

Ice has halted progress on C25k here but hoping to get out in the ‘peak heat’ of 1 degree predicted here in Yorkshire for after lunch for a delayed run 3. Scales were kind yesterday though and I’m back to exactly pre Christmas weight so with a disciplined first week of Jan have undone all the damage of the two weeks over Christmas.

I’m sure people have noticed @Fffreeeeezing but are too polite to say. Unlike my FIL who unsubtly looked me up and down at Christmas like a cow ready for market, nodded and said ‘you’re looking good Onenotsosmallstep, very good’. Made me feel a bit queasy.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 10/01/2026 17:04

@PearlTeapot Im so excited for you ❤️. Well done!

EnterSandfan · 10/01/2026 18:33

Hi everyone! Can I join you? I started MJ in November and I've been lurking on a few of the wli threads since then but not had time to post yet.

The November '25 starters thread seems a bit quiet and like a few have said, it mainly seems to be people with only a stone or two to lose so it's a bit difficult to relate on there. I've lost three stone on my own and one since starting the jabs, but I've got another 6 or so to go!
From the posts I've read so far you all here have a lot of great experience and some really inspirational posts on here, so I'd love to join you all for the ride.

Like a few others, I don't have anyone to talk to in real life about all this. I'm the biggest person I know - all my life my friends have all been very very very slim, so I tend to keep my struggles to myself. Only my DH knows I'm on mj. Hoping to share with people who understand here!

Weigh in and jab day for me today, 2lbs down even though I've scoffed all the Christmas chocolate! Have eaten super healthy otherwise though so I think I got away with the choc.
My weight has yo-yo'd over the years, I'd lost a lot a decade ago when I was very sporty but it rocketed back up again after I stopped playing sports and hitting the gym 🫤 but I was never slim, I just can't imagine being slim!

SW 293lbs (my heaviest weight, circa 2020, pre-MJ)
SW on MJ 253lbs (13 Nov 2025)
CW 234lbs
GW probably 11 stone? so 154lbs

Can I ask what are people’s thoughts about extracting the 5th dose from the pen? Obviously the pharmacies/sellers tell you not to but anecdotally seems a lot of people do online

Oh man, I tried to force a 5th dose from my pen today and turned it so hard I broke it 😆 had to open my new one instead

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 10/01/2026 18:52

@Onenotsosmallstep re C25K, are you on your run number 3 or week number 3? Or your 3rd 5km run? I’ve been walking about 5-6km almost daily since end of November (upped it slowly during autumn) so planning to start now adding some running too.

Nightmare! From what I’ve read a lot of people are using insulin syringes too

It seems to me that just about everybody on this thread does this.

Why waste such an expensive medication - there's another 0.8ml of MJ in every pen after the first four doses are given.

In a 15mg pen, that's 20mg of MJ.
To put that into context, that's two whole 2.5mg pens (both of which cost over a hundred quid).

These syringes are suitable.

Best and most accurate way of doing it.
I'm a nurse and wouldn't trust forcing the pen's mechanism to give an accurate dose.

I've linked some insulin syringes in my previous post.

Thank you 🙏 yeah I can’t bear the thought of wasting it either

@EnterSandfan welcome to the best thread on Mumsnet. Everyone here is so friendly and supportive, with a minefield of help & advice. It's nice to 'meet' you.

@CrispinWhispers I think most people use the 5th dose, especially since the price hike. It's so bloody expensive, it would be a waste to just throw it away

Would anyone throw £260 away?

That's using my analogy of the 0.8ml left in a 15mg pen BTW (20mg MJ) which is the equivalent of two x 2.5mg pens.

Yes, if you want the golden dose you need to use a syringe.

Thank you! Yes completely agree, it’s so expensive I’m dreading my dose going up 😂

mamabeeboo · 10/01/2026 19:04

@RenegadeKeeblerElf Congratulations on doing the park run!!! What a fantastic achievement.

To those who are starting or on C25K, do it! It's incredible. I hope it all goes well for you all. Do it as long as often as you need and enjoy celebrating your body moving.
When I did C25k back in September, I spent a long time running with a big smile on my face thinking "I can't believe I'm doing it!!!"

I've been eyeing up a local 5k run in April where I can get a medal at the end. I'm aiming to do 5k in about 35 mins. (From someone who at 23 stone and size 28 couldn't run for 30 secs.)

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 10/01/2026 19:06

With regard to the bonus dose, I think that after the price increases, everybody who wasn't keen on doing it decided that it was ridiculous and wasteful to throw it away.

A great many people also use pens for longer than 30 days, too. (Micro-dosing from a 15mg pen, for example)

My DD and I were discussing this today. We were fairly convinced that the manufacturers actively discourage this to maximise their profit margins.

But we're a cynical pair

Yes agreed! I wonder if the price may end up coming down at some point too. It seems a lot of people are switching to other options due to the price

Hello @EnterSandfan and welcome!

Aw thank you! Honestly reading people's posts on this thread the last couple of weeks has been a great encouragement! 😁 I'd normally have given up by now through sheer impatience. I genuinely think mj is liquid motivation for me.
I think I'll be ordering those syringes, deffo won't try forcing the pen again haha. When it broke a little jet of mj squirted all over the kitchen worktop - could almost see little liquid £££ signs everywhere 😆

Me being one of them. I'm currently taking a 5mg dose from a 7.5mg pen. My next pen is 10mg, and I intend to do the same with that one. I managed to stockpile a few pens just before the price hike, and I got higher doses thinking I would need to move up. But I've never needed to go any higher than 5mg, so its actually worked out quite well, my little stash is lasting longer than I expected

Im still. Using pens from the August stash too, I had a maintenance call with oushk pre Christmas to try and keep them friendly but im not sure they will let me order any more

Other places will though.
I reckon I've ordered MJ from about twelve different suppliers now.
I chase the codes.

DD and I were thinking of sharing a pen next time.

If we always use syringes and needles there will be no possible contamination (as there potentially could be by actually using the little needles that come with the pens)

So she can get her 15mg doses out of a 15mg pen and I can get some 10mg doses out, too.

I've started titrating down. I'm on 12.5mg ATM but going to inject 10mg next time.

I've only got 6lb to lose, to get to my goal.
Yay me. I just want to see 10st 10lb on the scales, then I'm there.

It's been two years. Such worthwhile years.
I'm now in size 10 jeans and size 8 jumpers.
My BMI was over 50 when I started.
