Well, some of us are new, some of us are nearly at our goal weight and the rest are still in the trenches.

Everyone is welcome here. This is a safe and supportive space for people with a lot of weight to lose.

It’s going well thanks! I’m definitely feeling I can eat less and not being bothered by cravings. I feel some control around food which I haven’t felt for as long long time. One of my reasons for for starting MJ finally was finding out I’m pre-diabetic, so I also don’t feel guilty that I’m eating shit and developing diabetes! The numbers on the scale haven’t shifted though… and I’ll be honest and say i‘m a bit disappointed and had hoped to at least have dropped a pound in my first week with how good I’ve been

That’s great, just remember that the medication will build up in your system over the weeks and with that should become more effective. If you haven’t heard of it the free Shotsy app is really good for showing this and it gives you some nice graphs over time. Also get fluids into you like it’s going out of fashion! You’ve got this 💪

Thanks so much 🙂 I hadn’t heard of that so will give it a go! Drinking enough is definitely a challenge, it has made me think I was likely permanently dehydrated before 😂

Welcome @CrispinWhispers! I’m on week 5/6. It’s a bit disorientating at first but it becomes second nature.

I think I mistake thirst for hunger a lot (when not on MJ!) which contributed to my had habits.

PearlTeapot · 08/01/2026 14:35

My NSV I've been meaning to say about is how I can get up and down off the floor now without using my hands! Last time I was in this hospital friends were always playing bananagrams on the floor and I never joined them because I couldn't get up without being hoisted up ungracefully and embarrassingly or buy using all my strength pulling up on furniture.

Now I'm on and off the floor all the time playing bananagrams and doing jigsaws etc. I can get up easily, no effort and I love it EVERY TIME! It really feels so good.

Feeling excited because DW is coming next Thursday! After months apart we will finally be together. It's my 40th birthday which sucks to spend in hospital but I've been given leave so we're staying in a hotel around the corner. Nothing special, and I'll be asleep at 9 thanks to my meds, but I am so grateful and excited, I honestly can't wait to get my hands on her! I cannot believe we've been apart so long. And if the weekend goes well, and the 2 nights sleeping in the hotel, a discharge plan will begin after that. So everything crossed for me please!! I am feeling a million times better and very ready to go home.

PearlTeapot · 08/01/2026 14:36

It won't let me edit- I didn't mean that sleazily 'get my hands on her'! I more mean to squish her to bits. Just the best hug ever.

Lds1 · 08/01/2026 14:53

I'm still 72.5 same as last week but I have been ill. I'm feeling better today so my water intake has improved a lot today. Back at work so my routine will be back in place too. Sooo 2.5kg to get to healthy, let's go!

@PearlTeapot that's a great update! I hope you have a lovely birthday! I also enjoy doing jigsaws, I've never heard of bananagrams before.

Also welcome to the new losers!

Billybingbong · 08/01/2026 14:55

Oh @PearlTeapot what wonderful news, both the DW visit and your impending discharge, how exciting. I'm so glad you're feeling better, hope the visit goes wonderfully, and you are very soon en route back up home ❤️

GnomeDePlume · 08/01/2026 15:09

@PearlTeapot I hope you have a lovely vacation with DW.

And congratulations on the standing up and getting down. Definitely with you on that one. A slipper disappeared right under the bed and it was so nice to be able to retrieve it rather than think 'sod it, that's where it lives now'.

Darling, if you did mean it "sleazily" there's no shame in that.

There are two things I miss now my stupid husband has gone:

a) the car

and

b) the sex

I mean, we were married for 25 years.

I still can't figure out why he thought he'd be happier without me....... and he most certainly hasn't got another woman. He just lives on his own, 15 miles away.

With the fucking car, dammit.

I'm getting my haircut on Saturday. Very excited and nervous at the same time. It is over a year since the last cut ie over 6 stones ago. My face, instead of being full, is now a rectangle. I have hints of cheekbones but TBH I look a hell of a lot older. Gravity is winning. The one big benefit of being bigger was that I filled up my skin!

user593 · 08/01/2026 17:15

@GnomeDePlume That’s exciting, are you going to go for something completely new? I’m desperate to get a haircut but holding off as I think I might want a radical change when I’m finished dieting.

Motnight · 08/01/2026 17:19

@PearlTeapot that is a lovely update!

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne you have made me laugh! Bastard could have left the car.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 08/01/2026 18:20

@PearlTeapot thats amazing! You so deserve this
ps - I only discovered bananagrams this Christmas and love it!

Missingducks · 08/01/2026 18:27

Can we talk bras please?

I am still only 1/3 way towards target and know when I get there I want professional fitting and bra investment but on the route there I need to update ... I have done the over the shoulder strap tightening, and am on the smaller hooks and eyes but finally not overflowing the cups. Did you measure at home, or take a guess, or get someone at M&S to help? Don't want to spend lots now when I am hoping to need a 38c instead of a 46h one day. Thanks.

Ps @PearlTeapot I might forget so Happy Birthweek x

TragicMuse · 08/01/2026 18:58

I have everything crossed for your imminent homeward journey@PearlTeapot and tbh, get your mitts on your beloved girl!!

Fffreeeeezing · 08/01/2026 19:01

This week so far

Sunday - swimming (45 mins)
Monday - Reformer class (1hr)
Tuesday - strength/pilates workout (30 mins)
Thursday - PT session (1hr)
strength/pilates workout (40 mins)

I am going to be absolutely ripped soon! Unfortunately no one will see it under the layers of fat but that six pack will definitely be there as will the guns of steel 🤣

Ketra · 08/01/2026 19:02

Happy New Year everyone.

Week 27 weigh in and I've passed the 5 stone loss mark - which is really nice but the NSVs are nicer... being able to wear certain jewellery again, not having to contort to tie shoe laces up, having my cat fit in my desk chair next to me!

@Missingducks Same as you I decided to wait until I get to maintenance before spending a lot of naice bras and measurements. For now I measured at home and then bought several cheap (and I mean like £10 cheap) bras from Matalan so I could play around with different styles as boob shape has changed too unfortunately. My plan is to keep doing this for another few stone then get an M&S or similar fitting to last me the last few stone, then get a posh fitting when at goal as a treat.

Bras are my specialty!

I measure at home. Get a good tape measure. Then follow this guide: https://www.abrathatfits.org/calculator.php

That should do the job!

I pick up bras from Vinted - you can get really decent brands such as Prima Donna for little money.

Missingducks · 08/01/2026 19:38

@TragicMuse @Ketra thanks - will find a not-a-builders-retractable-tapemeasure and have a go!

GnomeDePlume · 08/01/2026 19:53

@user593 I'm going for more of a tidy up than a full restyle. I prefer to have short hair but DH has suggested I keep it a bit longer. He has to look at it more than me!

Ahh this is fabulous news! And don’t rule out the ‘sleaze’ - if anyone deserves it you do! Fingers crossed you have a discharge plan soon.

I had really long hair until last year and now it’s cropped and bleached! I adore my short hair! It’s sharp and chic!

Have fun at the hairdressers!

It's his because of Motability.

Yep. Once you know your size you can get bras very cheaply on there.
