TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 29/11/2025 12:34

Well, some of us are new, some of us are nearly at our goal weight and the rest are still in the trenches.

Everyone is welcome here. This is a safe and supportive space for people with a lot of weight to lose.

Hi all, congrats on your amazing losses! Very inspiring. I’m in week 1 of Mounjaro and going well so far. Am a bit of a lurker by nature but thought I would pipe up to say hello as I understand you were all at a similar bmi to myself when starting x

So weirdly someone I work with (and have done for a number of years) called me a ‘skinny Minnie’ as we were walking to a meeting this afternoon. They seemed to think I might have lost some weight over Christmas. This was the first mention from anyone at work.

7.5 stone/ 47.5kg down, 30% of me gone and my first comment is this!

I either don’t look that different or people are just really un-observant…….

SilenceInside · 07/01/2026 19:49

I didn’t get comments from work colleagues until I’d lost a similar amount. I think it takes a lot for people to notice that you’ve sort of changed categories if that makes sense? So I was “very very fat” in people’s minds until I was absolutely and most definitley not very fat anymore. Then people seemed to feel obliged to comment on it.

@CrispinWhispers welcome!

I'm really struggling to keep warm in this weather,I'm wearing an outdoor fleece all the time ,even in bed .
I can barely eat on these antidepressants ..the constant sick feeling is putting me of
Hopefully side effects will settle down soon

@Fffreeeeezing I think we must have started out very similar weights. I lost well over 5 and a half stone before people started to comment but since returning to work after Xmas I have had 3 work colleagues tell me that I have lost loads of weight. But that's amazing that you have lost over 7 stone before someone mentioned it to you. Maybe you just move in very polite circles 😬!

@CrispinWhispers - welcome 🙂. Have you also joined a thread for your start month? They are really useful too

CrispinWhispers · 07/01/2026 22:56

@Motnight thank you! I will check it out 🙂

SilenceInside · 07/01/2026 23:01

@Anotherstressedmother I was looking at thermals online when you posted... I am also very cold all the time. I think a combination of having a lot less body fat, and I think the Mounjaro itself as well. I need to have an external source of heat to keep warm even with multiple layers. I complain to my DP that I am just as cold under blankets than without them, unless I also have a microwaveable heat pad/hot water bottle. I have electric hand warmers for when I have to go outside otherwise my hands are like ice blocks.

I used to hate the hot weather in the summer, and now I dream of it!

I must admit I couldn’t bear my monthly thread, too many people who were ‘disgusted’ with themselves for being 2 stone overweight. I felt really bitchy thinking that until I think it was lovely @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden who shared she felt similarly.

How’s the first week going @CrispinWhispers? And how are you feeling now @eibbed999?

SilenceInside · 07/01/2026 23:48

The other issue with the monthly threads is that eventually mostly everyone drops off as they reach target.... and you are still in the obese category... it is a bit soul destroying when that happens. I mean, I'm still not at my original target 18 months later! Nearly, but not quite. Absolutely no one but me still posts on the July 2024 thread.

They are great at the start though, for getting through the initial few weeks which are pretty similar for everyone regardless of the amount of weight they need to lose.

I just try to imagine that all the people with 2 stone to lose are all 4ft 10in or something!

Exactly the same ,I realised last summer that I much prefer the heat of summer to cold of winter ..this winter it feels like the cold is in my bones

MummyInTheNecropolis · 08/01/2026 05:48

I’m another one struggling with the cold, I’m wearing 3 layers of thermals under my jumper every day and still freezing at work. My heating has been on constantly, I’m dreading my next gas bill! I haven’t injected for 2 weeks now as I can’t bear the thought of being even more cold with mire MJ in my system.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 08/01/2026 06:24

Freezing here too! I’ve never worn so many layers. I compare it to the time I spent living in a country with -25c temperatures once. I’ve been looking at electric hand warmers as well. I have fleecy lined bobble hats which I love, I couldn’t ever wear them before as they mage me too hot (plus I looked daft) and my plug in heated blanket is on all the time.
I’d still rather be cold though than a hot sweaty mess

Motnight · 08/01/2026 06:41

I think that I was very lucky with my monthly thread which is still going after over 17 months though much quieter now. But yes, the vast majority of people had very different journeys to me. What I found particularly useful was the discussions about reactions to the jabs, decisions about whether to move up a dose etc at the beginning as @SilenceInside suggests.

Am also absolutely freezing. Wore a jumper to work which I had bought last year. A m and s size large which a lot of people would be appalled about but which I am just happy to fit into having spent years not being able to shop at M and S. Having said that, it is actually now too big!

Have lost a lb of the 5 I put on over Xmas. Definitely feeling back in the game.

Happy Thursday everyone!

It’s going well thanks! I’m definitely feeling I can eat less and not being bothered by cravings. I feel some control around food which I haven’t felt for as long long time. One of my reasons for for starting MJ finally was finding out I’m pre-diabetic, so I also don’t feel guilty that I’m eating shit and developing diabetes! The numbers on the scale haven’t shifted though… and I’ll be honest and say i‘m a bit disappointed and had hoped to at least have dropped a pound in my first week with how good I’ve been

GnomeDePlume · 08/01/2026 07:34

Happy New Year everyone

Weigh in and jab day.

SW 137kg BMI 53.5
CW 97.4kg BMI 38
GW 63kg BMI 24.6

15 stone 5 lbs in old money. I feel I have been circling around the same weight for a month. But feeling glad for the mounjaro. Didnt go wild over Christmas despite having a lot of other things going on. Mounjaro kept doing its thing in the background.

I was able to keep pretty much to my new found gym routine through Christmas. It was lovely and quiet through Christmas week. My gym sessions are very light, I'm not 'going for the burn' as Jane Fonda encouraged back in the day. But it is starting to have some effect. My shape is changing slowly.

By golly I'm feeling the cold. Made myself one jacket over Christmas - a lined chore coat and about to start another lined 3/4 length coat. Looking for a pattern if it didnt have a lining I wasnt interested!

Billybingbong · 08/01/2026 08:50

Morning friends. I've been feeling the cold too, strangely it's often at night when I'm tucked upon the sofa with my fleecy throw. I'm not too bad during the day, but my goodness, does it hit me on an evening. It's also taking me so much longer to warm-up after being outside. We've had a lot of snow this week, and temps have been as low as -6, but we have bonkers dogs who just want to play in it, so walks are taking twice as long as usual. Im bloody nithered by the time I get home

I have an NSV to report. I bought myself 2 new walking coats in the sales. They were such a bargain, I got a size 16 and 18. The 16 fits, but is still a little snug, and the 18 fits like a dream. They have replaced the size 26 that I couldn't even zip up this time last year.

I hope you're all having a good week, and are managing to get back on track after the festivities. Let's make 2026 our year

diggitydoo · 08/01/2026 09:51

Hi everyone, happy new year.

after a mini breakdown on Christmas Eve I chose not to weigh myself for three weeks over Christmas and New Year. Daily weighing had been messing with my head, so I parked it for a bit. Well actually if I’m honest my scales broke, which felt a bit like divine intervention. I did still track calories, as that gave me some structure, but I tried to take some pressure off overall.

Honestly, it wasn’t easy. Christmas food felt quite triggering at times, and there were parties, convenience food , and days that didn’t feel particularly neat or controlled. I spent a lot of the time worrying I might undo things without realising.

I weighed myself this morning and I’m 4 lb down over that period, which I feel quietly relieved about.

I ‘m only going to weigh fortnightly from now on. I’ve also switched to a manual dial scale in kg, which feels much less intense for me.

.

mamabeeboo · 08/01/2026 12:52

Hi losers!

SW:144kg
CW: 97kg

Congratulations everyone on all the losses, our pre-Christmas weight is coming back, including me! So pleased that Christmas didn't completely throw me off.

NSV I am able to cross my legs under my desk! I feel really professional sitting cross legged at work whilst answering emails.

My weightloss has meant that every man and his dog is asking and commenting about it. Nothing bad, just a lot of weight talk (mostly about themselves), especially over Christmas when we saw the family. Aunty suddenly piped up to me that she had joined the gym, out of nowhere. Someone else was complaining about high cholesterol and the only fix was pilates, apparently.

It makes me think that when someone loses weight, it sort of highlights that other people haven't, so they feel like they have to justify it to me, when I haven't even asked.

My mother has now started talking about exercise, (she's not overweight,) and was giving me lots of advice on exercise, best time of day to exercise etc, which I didn't ask for.

The psychology of how people act around someone who has lost weight is genuinely fascinating.
