Well, some of us are new, some of us are nearly at our goal weight and the rest are still in the trenches.

Everyone is welcome here. This is a safe and supportive space for people with a lot of weight to lose.

Really interesting article on BBC News today about why it's so hard to lose weight. Not sure how relevant it is to your struggles @eibbed999 but at least you know you aren't alone. And you've taken the most important first step to turning it around by acknowledging it and deciding you want to change. Hopefully the step up in dose will be the boost you need to break the cycle.

I will have a listen, thank you!

@Doggymummar thank you ☺️. I’ve just gone back through my Vinted purchase history 😂, I was buying a size 18/20 in July when I weighed between 13 stone 5lbs and 12 stone 13lbs, 16/18 in September/October when I weighed between 12st 6lbs and 11st 6lbs, 14/16 in November weighing between 11st 5lbs and all of a sudden in December they became too big weighing in the high 10 stone bracket so I dropped to 12/14. The higher size is due to having large boobs! But they have dropped from a 44h to a 34g, I wish the cup size would get smaller though….

Iwouldratherbesinging · 05/01/2026 09:09

Oh @eibbed999 sending hugs and support your way. You are definitely not useless or a failure, the higher dose will hopefully kick start your determination, Christmas is always a dangerous time with the food and change of routine and you can do this, you’ve already proved that you can. X

Missingducks · 05/01/2026 09:55

@eibbed999
Firstly, that was then and this is now.
You can't undo what has happened but you can be kind to yourself and start again from today.
Sounds like you are similar to me (eat when not busy, secret binges, hide evidence), I am trying to boost my success by not buying temptation in the first place and by keeping hands busy when watching TV etc by either knitting or stroking the dog or scribbling away.

Yes I'll probably be better now family are all back at work and I need to work too (self employed and WFH, which isn't always a blessing!), less distractions and less excuses!

PearlTeapot · 05/01/2026 10:57

@eibbed999 my heart ached reading your post because I so can relate to the feelings of shame when you eat and eat and eat. But you showed compassion to yourself in your post and I hope you can in real life too.

A stone is a stone. It went on, it'll come off. You've got this. You've just had the unfortunate reminder of how much mounjaro isn't just a magic fat dissolving drug.

Unexpected surprise this morning on the scales, I’ve not weighed for 3 weeks and have been away. I’ve still jabbed but have eaten whatever I felt like, including cakes, desserts, takeaways, party food etc, but have only put on a 1/2 pound! Was expecting to spend January losing the weight I thought I had gained but will now crack on and keep things going. I’m off on holiday at the end of February so will see what I can achieve before then.

Morning friends, and a belated happy New Year to you all. We've just arrived home after a longer than expected break away. We were due home Friday, but got delayed due to the weather, so only made it back last night. The problem was at home, we couldn't get near our village because of the snow, so had to stay a few miles away for 2 nights, that was fun!!

Anyway, back now, and I've lost 2 of the 4lb I gained the previous week, so I'm happy with that. Ive spent the last 3 weeks eating absolute shite, all the Christmas goodies I could lay my hands on, and far too much pastry, bread, cheese. All the stuff I've barely touched in months, so i think I've got off lightly. It's shocking how easy it is to slip back into old habits. A timely reminder that as fabulous Monjo is, we still have to put the effort in, it doesn't do the work for us.

Now I'm home, I'm already feeling more in control and back on track, so the plan for this afternoon is to write a menu plan for the week, make some soup for the week's work lunches, and hopefully get to the supermarket, although it's just started snowing again, so I'm not sure I'll manage to get the car out, eek!!

Got your message! That's for tagging me, I scrolled up and found it. This is really helpful thank you!!! It looks like it's about a stone for each size which isn't very much actually so I can see why it's been quick to drop as you have gotten to goal.
Congratulations again!!!

Doggymummar · 05/01/2026 15:56

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne hoping you are OK, not seen you in a while

Mum2Fergus I am so sorry that your sister died - my sincere condolences to you.

eibbed999 Sorry things have been tough for you recently - I agree with others, you are not a failure - you have recognised what has gone wrong the last few weeks and have a plan to adjust to what you know has worked - I've had to have a bit of a talking to myself after a few weeks of too much excess and little care about what I was doing to myself - good luck getting back to it.

To everyone else - we've 'survived' the festive period. Some seem to have thrived, whereas for others it has been more challenging - but we are all still here, and the next year will pass just as 2025 does - it's up to us where we are at the end of it!

Weigh in for me this morning at the end of pen 13:

SW: 136.6kg
GW: 62.6kg

Pen 1 (2.5mg): Down 10.1kg
Pen 2 (5mg): Down 6kg
Pen 3 (5mg): Down 5.1kg
Pen 4 (5mg): Down 4.8kg
Pen 5 (5mg): Down 4kg
Pen 6 (5mg): Down 5kg
Pen 7 (5mg): Down 4.5kg
Pen 8 (5mg): Down 3.1kg
Pen 9 (5mg): Down 3.1kg
Pen 10 (5mg): Down 5.5kg
Pen 11 (5mg): Down 1.8kg
Pen 12 (5mg): Down 1.6kg
Pen 13 (5mg): Up 1.6kg

CW: 83.6kg

A tricky Pen, and I've been struggling to deal with how my gain has made me feel. On a logical level I understand where I've gone wrong, with a birthday weekend away, a number of Christmas lunches and parties and then the festive period when the brakes weren't as well applied as I'd planned - coupled with no exercise - all leads to the increase.

I've been feeling like this was just what I could expect - it's how every other diet I've every tried has ended. But I also recognise what I've achieved in the past year - I'm down over 8 stone and have seen my dress size change from a 28/30 to a 14/16. I'm trying to find the self belief I've had all year - to know I can do this, and know how to do it and stop believing the excuses I've been bad for falling back to this past four weeks.

Pen 14, and my second Mounjaro year, started this morning - it's another 5mg one - I think I should have ordered a 7.5mg for this one, and think I will for next time, but lets see how this one goes.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 05/01/2026 19:56

That’s brilliant @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne and at a pretty stressful time for you too 🥳

No no no, that's not how this one works.

The rate of loss has slowed down because that's what always happens. That's normal.

Nobody can expect the big losses we see at the beginning to carry on.

It's been two whole years since I started this, and sometimes recently I've lost 2 - 3lb a month.

But it's always going down. Just very slowly now.

PearlTeapot · 05/01/2026 21:48

Glad you're ok @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne and well done on the 9 stone!!! What an amazing achievement! I'd be dancing every time I saw a mirror.

TragicMuse · 05/01/2026 21:51

I’m back on my calorie tracking today! It feels nice and controlled.

Doggymummar · 05/01/2026 21:54

I jabbed again today for the first time in a couple were and I've just had a sandwich i forgot how much difference it makes.

TragicMuse · 06/01/2026 09:57

WHY? Why, after maintaining and not counting, do I now have a gain? That’s ridiculous!

Bummer!

eibbed999 · 06/01/2026 10:05

Has anybody here used Wegovy, and if so what were your experiences on it? I don't tend to get side effects so I'm not overly worried about that - just wondering if it's as effective with the food noise, and the other less tangible but definitely real benefits of MJ, like the anti-inflammatory effect that I've noticed? I'm up to 12.5 now and MJ is so expensive, even though I consistently move supplier to find the cheapest deals!

Bummer indeed! I can hear your indignation! It'll sort itself out, it's just your body having a laugh with you.

user593 · 06/01/2026 11:12

@eibbed999 I haven’t used Wegovy myself but my partner used it and lost 20kg in about 3-4 months. He had some side effects (upset stomach) but only when he ate rubbish.
