Merry Christmas you fabulous skinny lot! And a special 'you're looking thin' shout out to @pinkart! Breakfast martinis sound bloody fabulous @Mounjaropen 🍸

Delightfully not one person has commented on my weight! I was worried my dad would talk about it loads in front of my little nieces but nada. I'm not great with compliments, or the implied because you looked shit before, that comes with you look great, so nothing is perfect for me.

Feels like EVERYTHING at this point - I always roll into Christmas with a few treat meals, so last night was a proper lasagne, tonight a French Canadian meat pie. Tomorrow will kick off with brioche cinnamon rolls (delegated to DS) for breakfast, then into lunch with gougères and a spatchcocked turkey with every trimming we can muster. Puds will be a Yule log (delegated to my DD) and a cranberry cheesecake (made this weekend and sitting in my overflow fridge now).

Boxing Day will be a buffet - carrying over the turkey, a newly baked ham, lots of salads and the Ottolenghi potato chaat (amazing, and addictive), plus a massive cheeseboard. There will be an apple tart added to the pudding cart for my niece, who is wild for all things apple.

Amd then from the 27th onward we’re out or I’ll be grazing on leftovers with my feet up!

Ooh what a menu!

I’m making turkey, leek and ham pie for lunch today plus tomatoes, cheese and mustard tart for the vegetarians. I’ve made some mulled wine pears for pudding which I’m serving with vanilla mascarpone cream. My feet won’t be out up now until the 30th when my B&B stint comes to an end 🤣

Hope Santa was good to you!

Amazing news @PinkArt what a great Xmas present!

I’ve just ordered the Corsx product off just my look for £13 including postage. I’ve paid on my credit card incase it’s dodgy but I’m sure I’ve ordered from there before.

wishing everyone a very merry Xmas. Ours is more subdued this year as our family dog has been given a few months following a cancer diagnosis. Me and the kids are going to hunker down and have a chilled day.

So sorry to read the news about your dog. Hope the kids are ok. 💐

Happy Christmas to all you lovely November 24 starters. I hope we all hae a well deserved lovely Christmas. i am in a totally different place from this time last year and the support and encouragement of this lovely group has a large part to play in it. Even though we're only virtually acquainted I fell that Nov 24 is a proper friend support group. Special thanks and Christmas wishes to @Mounjaropen who has led us all the way from our start last year.

I'm off to the kitchen to do advance food prep for tomorrow. `i'd upped my maintenance jab earlier in the week and I feel I've got a good balance of supression, somewhere between nibbling all the goodies in sight and not wanting to eat at all.
have a great day tomorrow & sending a festive unmumsnet hug to all.

With hindsight I definitely should’ve done this too…😩 still, it’s one day/week in the year. I shall be hitting the gym next week for sure! Hope you all had a fab time.

Your cocktails sound gorgeous @Mounjaropen, as do those mulled wine pears - light and fruity after all the other riches before!

How is everyone doing today? I’m still full (2 puddings will do that!), so will stick just to coffee this morning. More guests are arriving at noon for the buffet, but after all yesterday’s indulgence I have to say the crudities I have planned seem really appealing.

So as you can ascertain, suppression is still present - I am noticing my switch-off ability coming on, albeit AFTER I have sampled everything in sight. I’m really craving a run too, but won’t have time til after tomorrow. How times have changed!

jay55 · 26/12/2025 16:40

Hello

I had a lovely Xmas lunch yesterday, loads of fancy protein (crab, caviar, beef rib), this morning am on the naughty step having a cinnamon bun for brekkie. It’s bloody lovely. Have been walking 6-7 miles a day so hopefully it will all work out okay.
Ive not had much food noise which is lovely but have been able to enjoy some good meals without going crazy.

Hope everyone’s having a lovely lazy time.

Babymamamama · 26/12/2025 22:33

Happy Boxing Day all. I’ve missed several full threads. Since august!! I was unceremoniously cut off from MJ last summer when Donald trump bumped up the global price and Asda told me I’d reached my goal weight and couldn’t give me any maintenance plan. I was so shocked/devastated. I then waited a couple of months to get a video consult with OUSHK. The organisation from OUSHK was all a bit shambolic but with a lot of effort on my part to overcome all their website glitches I’m now on their maintenance plan. Phew! As I had started to regain my weight as soon as I stopped the MJ and was flying solo so to speak.
This time I’m giving Wegovy a whirl as it’s a bit cheaper. But happy to go back onto MJ if wegovy doesn’t cut the mustard. Time will tell. I’m grateful to have a maintenance plan as being dumped by Asda really upset me.
SW 13 st 3
lowest weight 9st 10
CW 10st 2
taking 0.5 of wegovy now.
TBH I feel zero side effects with wegovy and to worry that it’s not strong enough. Let’s see what happens. I’ve been awol off the threads since august but hope everyone doing well wherever you are within your journey. Here is to making good food choices, feeling good in our clothes and getting in our fresh air and daily steps in 2026. We can do it!!

SerenePeer · 27/12/2025 10:07

Ooh you have me hankering after some cocktails @Mounjaropen - how lush!

Well after 2 days of feasting and testing the residual mounjaro in my system to the absolute limit, I'm feeling reasonable reassured that weaning myself down to the lowest dose won't be too awful after all. I did find myself sitting thinking about food quite a bit yesterday, but after sitting with my thoughts for a bit I realised it wasnt food noise - I was bored! DH had gone for a nana nap after suffering with awful indigestion all night and the teenagers were building their annual lego boxes. So I made a cup of tea, binged Downtown Abbey and ate 2 chocolates. So suppression working well even after a skipped dose (Shotsy reckoned there was 3mg in my system yesterday afternoon).

I've just jabbed this morning, went to a spin class and am looking forward to eating less food today! Feel very smug about being back in the gym today - the place was absolutely deserted at 7am!

How's everyone else getting on? How did you fare with no jab @goldleafcat?

Goldleafcat · 28/12/2025 09:31

Morning all!

Sounds like many of you have been having a fabulous Christmas, and I’m loving the food menus and cocktails!

@SerenePeer I’ve actually had a similar experience to you - I worried I’d be a ravenous beast eying up everything in sight but actually not really much different to normal. I had a hungry moment yesterday afternoon and did the same - snaffled a couple of Hotel Chocolat chocs I’d had for Christmas and a coffee and that scratched the itch. Well done for getting back to the gym!

Was nice to not get too full so delaying was the right decision. I jabbed yesterday morning. We ate out last night and I really enjoyed it (DS who is often a handful in restaurants was mostly well behaved which also helped). The fridge and freezer still has a lot of canapés / party food which I will nibble on from time to time (NYE meal might just be party food night!).

Survived the MIL visit. Questioned me once about my weight and whether I was going to lose any more (why she thinks it is appropriate to ask this shit is beyond me). It is obvious it stems from her own insecurities but still pisses me off (esp when SIL never gets asked stuff like this). She did her normal annoying comments (wandering around the house, asking is this new? Is this new? Think she has a thing about wanting to disapprove of any spending) (none of the things were new btw, our 5 year old Christmas tree and 5 year old toaster two of them!). She also stupidly said ‘I bet you really enjoyed being away for those 2 nights’ - when I had travelled for that funeral! I said ‘no, not really, why would I enjoy a funeral’ and she backtracked saying she meant in terms of it being nice to see family etc. Why couldn’t she just bloody say that then. It’s this kind of low level shit on an ongoing basis that pisses me right off 🤣 And breathe!

SerenePeer · 28/12/2025 13:58

Bravo for surving the MIL @goldleafcat!

I'm so relieved not to have turned back into a human dustbin overnight. What a difference in outlook and approach to food. Hurrah, yet again, for mounjaro!

PinkArt · 28/12/2025 17:32

Happy Twixtmas. I'm back home and am up just over a pound, which isn't bad going. I think I'm rather parched though, so hoping it might be water weight rather than Quality Street weight.
I really enjoyed a second Christmas of not wanting to eat all the chocolate in sight and not minding having my photo taken.

Dreamqueen · 29/12/2025 17:19

Thank you @Cantbesure . My snail stuff arrived today & it was much cheaper than amazon.
Not sure whats happening but I've eaten my bodyweight in chocolate and rubbish for the last couple of days. I need to give myself a talking to.

Cantbesure · 29/12/2025 17:24

Mine arrived today too @Dreamqueen, here’s to looking 10 years younger.

I’ve had a lovely Christmas but def ate and drank a lot! I’m a couple of pounds up but I’m still in my target range. I took myself out for a quick run on Boxing Day to make sure I can still do it. Going out tonight but going to drive as I’ve drunk enough this week!

on a night out last night a very good friend told me I was looking too thin. I’m really not. And was surprised she said it. She’s always been slim.

LindtCurves · 31/12/2025 00:24

I've gained about 4 pounds over the festive period. But to be honest I am not panicking or worried the slightest, whereas I remember some years where thinking about everything I'd eaten this time of year kept me up at night, telling my self I'd never touch this stuff again.

Food truly is an addiction. It sounds very similar to an alcoholic going on a bender and then coming down from it.

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 31/12/2025 09:05

I am pound up but it will come off quickly. I want to reach my goal by end of Feb. I forgot my jab on Monday and so have just done it this morning🙄 - bonus dose from a 10mg pen. I am starting my last 10mg pen next week.

I did my first 7km run yesterday @Cantbesure and yes I was slow but I did it.

Have a great New Year’s Eve my Nov 24 friends and looking forward to another year of slimming, maintaining, exercising, gossip, style and beauty tips ❤️. Oh and to many more celebratory klaxons in 2026

🔔📣🔔📣🔔📣🔔📣🔔📣 🍾🥂🎉

Mounjaropen · 31/12/2025 09:10

Happy New Year’s Eve lovely friends in my phone!

It’s been a rather indulgent time since DH was off work and so my weight is up by 5lbs… not panicking, I’ve done zero exercise and been eating out at fancy restaurants near enough every day. I’ve also drunk my own body weight in cocktails and champagne 😂

Anyone want to join me in setting their intentions for 2026? Here are mine:

-Get to 126lbs - I think my frame can take it and I need to increase my muscle mass over this year.
-Write 1500 words per day - I have a book I’ve written 50% of, so I need to finish it!
-List 5 items on Vinted each day
-Only spend on clothes the amount generated on Vinted
-Savings Direct Debit each month (so I can get my neck lift 🤣)
-set up Christmas a DD each month / I used to do this, no idea why I stopped
-Read up on investing and put our money to work harder for us
-re do our wills
-Make powers of attorney for both of us
-Book a holiday or mini-break for each quarter of 2026
-No booze Monday to Friday
-actually use my Nuface device every day

New woman incoming for 2026! Sending positive vibes to you all and thank you for being a great support in 2025 😘

Ooh yes I need to get our investments to work harder. Need to get into higher performing funds as a my individual stock picks are a bit hit and miss @Mounjaropen

but resolutions are to

  • reach my BMI of 25 and to stay there
  • build running up to 10k
  • move down MJ doses and to use money saved for our beauty tips
  • to do more decluttering and buy less ‘stuff’
SerenePeer · 31/12/2025 11:19

Happy hogmanay skinny bitches!

Loving the resolutions @Mounjaropen and @theslimmingpumpkin - I been dabbling in making our money work harder over the past few years but have played it safe with stock & shares ISAs and general investment plans that track the FTSE 500. I think Female Invest are running a free webinar soon that's worth checking out. https://www.instagram.com/femaleinvest

I was just reflecting this morning how in previous years I would be desperate for 1st January to arrive so I could start my healthy eating plan...but we wouldninvariably have lunch plans with the grandparents so I would delay it until the 2nd....but then there would be all the leftovers to use up, so it would be delayed again and again....as I simply got fatter and fatter! This year, I've no burning desire to 'start' a new plan. For the first time ever I didn't over stock the fridge or over cater the festive feasting days. We had just enough leftovers for a lovely pie and it's been normal family meals since. We'll have family over for a roast tomorrow night and that will be the end of our festivities! I think I'm up 2lbs but I've not paid much attention to be honest. The festive cocktails and nibbles will finish tonight so the extra lbs will soon disappear.

I feel like I've finally found my MIA fitness mojo again and am loving being back at spin class and good old Les Mills Body Pump. I need the group and pre-booking aspect of the classes to make me go and feel like I've found a good pattern now. Reformer pilates starts back on Saturday and I cannot wait!

What's everyone's plans for tonight then? DH and I will have a couple of cocktails then probably be in bed before the bells! Hoping for a sunrise walk tomorrow somewhere nice to start the year off well.

Ooh a sunrise walk sounds fabulous! Thanks for the invest tip. I’ll have a look. I’m gonna spend some time reading the tips from that mad couple who created a £1.5m pension pot in less than a decade for some ideas. Friends have just bought an off-plan property in Dubai which allegedly has doubled in value since March (🤔) so I’m looking at that plus some physical gold. Stufff I’ve never considered before beyond the usual ISA stuff.

I’m lunching at The Savoy today with DH (fancy!) We’ll have a few drinks in the American bar before/after most likely. We usually spend NYE with the neighbours watching all the fireworks but DH’s heart has been dicky the last couple of days so I think we’ll retire early as tiredness is a factor in it all. I did Pvolve today and walked the dog and I’ll be back on it tomorrow as not exercising feels alien to me right now. What a change from previous years!
