In case anyone wants a listen, R4 on the Today program this week has been concentrating on WLI. Interesting slot with an endocrinologist this morning (around 8.30ish) who was reassuring in the safety of staying on Terzepitide long term and the reasons why. Chief reason: ‘we DO have long term studies on taking MJ long term, 18 years of data with diabetic patients’

As predicted that 6 stone milestone didn't quite stretch to weigh in day. 13st 10 on the nose so a whole 0.1 pound scuppered an official 6 stone loss today - curse you normal body fluctuations!
I have however lost 30% of my starting weight, which is a nice bonus milestone while I wait for 13st 9 to return 🥳

I'm definitely not swishing! I'm barely making it down the kiddy slopes in one piece - I can't even get to a blue run because the only one that's open here so far has a steep area that my teacher said I'm definitely not ready for...

But I've promised myself I'm going to try three ski holidays before I'm allowed to throw in the towel. This is only the second one. There's still hope...

You can do it!

I learned to ski in my 40s and I can testify that the single biggest factor in how easily you can pick it up is fitness. On my first trip I had just trained for a 10k (running 4x week), and there was a noticeable gap fitness-wise between me & the other beginners - even the blokes. By the end of the week the weaker beginners had slipped away and it was the instructor, me, and a couple of 20-something male beginners still keeping up.

Since then I’ve skied less fit (not well), and then the most fit I’ve ever been after lifting with a PT, and the difference really is huge. So do go again, and do use it to galvanise your exercise - you will see the difference and have SO MUCH FUN.

I went to top up the food shop but found this bargain for £12 in Asda. Who needs vegetables?

Do you have an emergency red carpet in your home, for occasions when a frock like this needs photographing immediately?

Grin The red carpet is so perfect with the dress! It’s a beautiful dress, @Dreamqueen.

The red carpet is the bane of my life. it shows every speck of fluff. Moved into this house 3 years ago and I stupidly let DH choose the colour of the upstairs carpet. It seemed fair at the time as he let me have free reign everywhere else except the garden which is his domain. Once he'd chosen the red nothing would dissuade him that it was a bad choice and upstairs looks like bordello.

Exactly! I was talking to my mum yesterday and told her that I have to be strategic and decide which courses I order from the four course dinner that they serve in the hotel because I can't manage all four... And she was like, "Yes, that's what everyone does". Erm... Noooo! Not me in the past!

Omg no. I would see the four courses as a challenge to be completed and want chocolate waiting in the room for me after

Mounjaropen · 19/12/2025 09:09

Thanks @KentishMama for the article - it pretty much sums up how a lot of people feel doesn’t it?

Friday Update from me:

Exercise: I have double pvolved this week because next week will be a write-off. And most likely the week after that. I have reached 300 classes now since the first week of Nov ‘24. This year at the same rate my cost per class will be 54p (a subscription is £141 per year at the current ER) 💪 My treadmill watch has been mostly Selling Manhattan, The Kardashian’s and selling the OC. Judge away at the mindless drivel but it keeps me going 😂

Weight: is steady at 133lbs but the scales did show 135 at one point this week which was a bit of a ‘worry’ but I have been exercising a lot so I hope it is muscle going on 🤞

Fashion: This week I’ve bought another pair of the M&S faux leather trousers (size 8!) this time in black, a pair of brown mesh boots from M&S with Diamante detail to go with a Balmain style brown velvet jacket with matching wide leg brown velvet trousers that I bought in a local boutique. I need to rein in the fashion spending now until at least March (yeah right). I’ve enough clothes and I need to get busy on Vinted!

Cards have been sent, parcels posted, presents are wrapped. DH is now off so Xmas officially starts today. The dog is being washed so I’ll take next year’s Xmas card photo this afternoon 😂Tomorrow we have our annual ‘linner’ (lunch that turns into dinner at the same table in the same restaurant) with good friends. Sunday DD is back from Uni so we’ll have a roast and watch Love Actually 🥰

Happy Friday to everyone!

Oooh your fashion purchases sound lovely!

Vegetables are surplus to requirements in December when there are GORGEOUS dresses to buy!

TMI but I thought I was going to need one this morning as I was a bit windy and for Mounjaro me that means poo time! But nada, which is just rude.
I'm 0.2 of a BMI off being overweight too and that's a huge milestone to be so close.

Cantbesure · 19/12/2025 20:34

Perfect red carpet dress @Dreamqueen, you look fabulous.

it’s a bit of a milestone for me this weekend. 6 months (26 weeks) MJ free and my weight is holding steady. 4 more weeks and I will have been off MJ as long as I was on it.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 19/12/2025 23:14

That’s great news, @Cantbesure. Gives me hope for the future - planning on coming off in the new year (and hoping my hair grows back).

I’d go full bordello with fringed lamps and everything- but I am what the kids say as ‘extra’ 😂

No also! I choose courses based on my rule ‘I couldn’t be arsed to make that at home’

Presents have one rule - The recipient wouldn’t buy it for themselves - so something lovely, frivolous or fabulous. This obviously does not apply to the worst present I ever received- a stunt kite. I was 19, we’d been going out for 2 years, was massively into fashion and clubbing and I have never been described as ‘outdoorsy’. He was an ex shortly afterwards.

Snap. I almost always order things I could not be bothered to cook. At home I'm flexitarian as I can't be bothered to cook meat. But I do like a good steak if someone else cooks it...

Ooh fab. I used to have a similar one in my music room/study which was magnificent- 15 arms. Then I asked DH to give it a clean and discovered that the electrician who had put it up didn’t bother with a noggin but used expanding foam instead….😱

A mini check in from me. No weight loss that I know of this week, but haven’t weighed for a few days, and I’ve been away the last couple of days for a funeral. Very sad, but a good send off, and was also lovely to see family I haven’t seen in years (the weird bittersweet thing with funerals). A very long day yesterday which involved quite a few drinks and naughtier food than usual, and then a hotel fry up this morning!

What I did experience in a positive way was that so many people commented on how well I looked, and absolutely no questions about weight loss jabs thank goodness. And, it also reaffirmed that being slender really does seem to be synonymous with looking more youthful. At least 3 people thought I was in my 30s (including a cousin who should really know better as she’s only about 3 years older than me!). I’m 45. Bonkers. Reassuring though, because I was worrying about ‘Ozempic face’ and ‘Ozempic neck’, and feeling a tad stressed work wise in the run up to Christmas. I did however have a fabulous night’s sleep Thursday night which may have helped (on my own in a big hotel bed, no 3 year old draped half over me or a snoring DH!).

I shall be continuing my Trinny London, collagen (nutrition geeks) and probably shall continue Botox! I’ve also recently introduced Niod’s fractionating eye concentrate on the recommendation of @Mounjaropen . Any more of these fabulous recommendations please keep them coming!!

Have a lovely weekend everyone
