I’m feeling a bit disheartened. I did expect I’d have to be on the jabs long term as I’ve always known thr theory etc but never managed to stick to it. However I’ve been off the jabs for a couple of weeks due to a few reasons (around another stone to go for my goal) and I’ve put on maybe half a stone. So cross with myself. Drinking every day, bottle and a half tonight plus raiding the cupboards which I haven’t done in ages. Gave me a preview of the future 😥I’m worried what I do in the future if I’m not eligible anymore

Gingercar · 07/04/2026 21:51

Give it a bit of time. It’s going to take at least a month or so to settle yourself down and get used to not having the jab to help. So you know that you’re going to have to be strong for a few weeks.
And I’ve yo-yo’d up and down three lbs this week even without going off the rails. But unless you let it get you down and send you off track it will even out. So you know you’re being a bit naughty- so pull yourself up. Make yourself choose something healthier when you go to the cupboard. Have some packs of popcorn around, or grapes - they’re my go to snack. It’s probably going to be a challenge, but you can do it.

Mynewusersame · 08/04/2026 08:32

Great advice from @Gingercar
Also think how it’s actually impossible to put 7 pounds of fat on in a couple of weeks. If you’ve come off MJ then you will gain some inflammation weight. A few days of heavy eating will also put the scale up but once you get back to eating normally again your weight will stabilise down.
In the last month my weight has been as low as 10.2, went up to 10.9 after a curry and a few beers the other week, and was 10.4 this morning after a weekend of eating chocolate. I think now we’ve all lost so much weight it’s easy to think the worst when the scale goes up, but the quicker you can get back to eating your regular meals then the scale will come back down quickly. It’s not possible to put fat weight on that fast, it’s the nipping it in the bud that’s key (but also so hard to do, which is why I was 5 stone heavier this time last year).

Gingercar · 08/04/2026 09:35

Is that true that you can put on inflammation weight when you stop? I’ve not heard that. But I’ve not taken my jab this week, keep forgetting, and I’m four days late. I’ve also gone up three lbs for no reason. (Not intending to come off them yet, but just a little intrigued as to when my body will notice I’ve not taken it! I don’t get much suppression or reduced food noise either. I’ve come to the conclusion that it doesn’t have a massive affect on me!)

AwayADay · 08/04/2026 12:09

When you have that brilliant big weight loss in the first week or so ( any diet ) that is due to a glycogen loss and not all fat .
Our bodies store glycogen so therefore when you come off a diet some of it goes back on ( Google it )

Crinklecat · 08/04/2026 14:36

Thank you, feeling more positive today. Jabbed 9mg last night and eaten normally today and already feeling much better. Just shocked me how quickly I went to bad habits (and how bad my habits were!). I knew I’d have to be careful coming off and this just demonstrated that. A few people have called me skinny (obviously in comparison to before rather than actually skinny…) at work today which has helped

RatherTardy · 11/04/2026 10:12

Hello all still here. No worries if no one remembers me. I haven't posted since December. Reason being I TOTALLY stuffed up over Christmas (completely my own fault) and it took until mid-March to rectify (i.e. to stop plateauing or putting weight back on each week). FINALLY back on track, and today I weigh lower than I did in mid-December. But it's taken me a loooooong time to get here.

I didn't post because (a) I was ashamed and (b) I didn't want to encourage failure in others.

I've read everything, though. And interesting to see others struggled over Christmas and also had slow losses in Jan. January was awful for me.

Something I've noticed reading a few hundred messages at once. The shorties on here are envious of how the tallies (of which I am one) have reducing BMIs (my BMI this morning was 28.1). But as a tallie, I'm soooo jealous of your little numbers. I couldn't hope to be anywhere near 10 stone, and lots of you shorties are under it.

I've had some fabulous NSVs this week. Firstly, I'm on Easter hols (work in schools) and I've lost weight - unheard of for me. Second, I did the winter/summer clothes switch and found a bag. I got rid of most of my smaller clothes, because I thought "I'm never fitting these again"), but I kept just a few that I loved too much to dump. Dared to try on and they (almost) all fit. They're not a small size, but they're a damn sight smaller than I was wearing (I probably stretched them all when I was gaining, but the label says what the label says, right!)
I'm not daring to get rid of big clothes yet, but @ChiaraMontague, I'd be interested in the name of that charity. I absolutely LOATHE some of my biggest clothes, bought in despair and to (ineffectively) disguise the bulge. I'm not going to buy new clothes yet (and, hey, I've just got a whole "new" wardrobe of all my most loved clothes), but it's so great to know I can go into a shop and look for things I like, rather than (a) ordering online, because I hate what I've had to do, which is (b) go into a shop and look at a label to see if it might fit before deciding whether I can stand the item of clothing or not.

Well done everyone for your losses whilst I was messing up. Very glad to be back on track, but very worried about what this means for the future, and thinking carefully about that now.

Picalilylou · 15/04/2026 19:10

I haven't posted much recently either, things have been slow for me since December, so you aren't alone @RatherTardy. I've gone from 15st 10lb to 15st 5lb in this time, which is a real slow down on rate of loss and lots of losing, gaining, losing, gaining cycles in this time. I'm also tall, but still overall pleased I'm nearly at 3st loss since last July. I've only been on 5mg, I tried 7.5mg last autumn and didn't feel great so dropped back.

I'm just back from a week all inclusive in Greece. I ate what I wanted but my capacity is so much lower than before. I've come back 2lbs up, but I could easily come back 7lbs up from all inc before, so pretty pleased and food was salty, so hoping some of that is water retention.

Anyway, I've got another 7.5mg pen, but going to try 6.25mg and see if I can get the numbers dropping again. I really would like to reach 14st as first target, then see if I think I can do any more. I'm not sure I'll reach normal BMI but would be really pleased to get around 27, as I started at 37.

ToddlerMumma · 16/04/2026 08:34

Quick update from me - I am nearly at target weight. I’m 9st9 and was 14st4. I’m finally in the healthy BMI range and gone from a size 18 to a comfortable size 10. I had a meds review with my GP and have been taken off my obesity related blood pressure meds which is amazing. I’ve steadily gone up the pens and i’m now on the max 15mg. I can’t see myself stopping when I reach goal weight but I might come down a few pens or space out my jabs. This drug has truly changed my life in so many ways and I’m very thankful I started. I’m healthier and happier than I have been in years after being overweight for decades. I have turned into a gym bunny and have so much more energy. Thanks to you all for the support 🎉

ChiaraMontague · 17/04/2026 08:42

Nice to hear from you again @RatherTardy and well done for weathering that bump over Christmas & early 2026 and getting back on track. And well done on those NSVs 🥳 The charity I mentioned upthread is called Dress For Success UK.

I’m heading into maintenance now. I was planning to stay on 10mg for probably the next 6 weeks and then start reducing the dose. I’ve got so much going on at the moment at work and personal life that I just don’t have the headspace to adjust to another change. However, after being stable for 4 weeks I started losing 0.5 - 1kg a week, so I think it might be time to reduce now.

RatherTardy · 17/04/2026 19:38

It's lovely to hear how well you guys are doing

Crinklecat · 22/04/2026 12:25

you’re all giving me hope. I’m not making much progress here, think I’ll up the dose next week

MsRinky · 23/04/2026 11:24

I'm increasing the dose for my next pen, I'm really not getting any noticeable appetite supression any more and am really battling to stay on track with very slow losses now.

MissMogs · 23/04/2026 11:46

Well done to everyone. Those who have reached goal, and those who are pushing on through plateaus and difficult life events.
i haven’t posted lately because there’s not much to report really. Plodding on and slowly losing. I’m on 15mg now. I seem to be thinking of food a lot more so having to use more willpower which isn’t ideal because I’m still a way off goal.
Started at 105kg. Now 65kg. So a huge loss, but I’m short so still not a healthy BMI! Size depends on clothing. 14-16 with some tops in a 12.
Onwards and downwards!

HappyWineDay · 23/04/2026 12:58

@MissMogs - well done so far, and keep going. You'll get to where you want to be!

fancytoes · 23/04/2026 13:08

I’ve stopped now and I’ve gained 3lbs in two weeks! FFS. Without any blowouts or anything to deserve this punishment! Well I say gained, really I have hovered around the same 8.10-13stone depending on what the previous day was like (or whether I’ve had a poo - sorry TMI!)

I’m now giving it two more weeks of will power and seeing what that does. If I keep going up, I’ll crack out the pens from the fridge!

It’s bound to bounce a little for the first month or so. Your body needs chance to settle down and find its metabolism. Stick with it. I put 3lbs on for no reason last week and I’m still on the pen…. But I know it has to come off again sooner or later as it’s not real.. Trust yourself - if you’re eating sensibly you’re not going to put tons of weight on in the long run.

Has anyone else noticed that they have lost interest in other parts of their lives not just food? My friend was talking about it so I was wondering if it’s helped anyone quit vaping/smoking/drinking? For me, I didn’t do any of those things, but since I’ve been on MJ I’ve lower interest in some hobbies and everyday activities like reading or gardening or watching films.
Wondering if it’s the MJ or the menopause or a combination of both.
Also, since I have less blubber, I'm freezing all the time. I’m currently sat in a 19°C room with a thermal top on, 2 merino/lambswool jumpers, woolly tights in under my jeans, fluffy socks, about to put on a hat and fingerless gloves, as well as put on either my fleece oodie or a large sweatshirt!

Overtheatlantic · Yesterday 15:08

I’m definitely freezing all the time but I think it’s because I live in England and it’s ridiculously cold this spring. For me, 19 isn’t warm or isn’t warm enough.

ShesRunningOutTheDoor · Yesterday 15:27

Not sure if anyone remembers me but I started with you all in June. I got to goal weight November time and since then I’ve been jabbing 45 clicks of a 5mg pen every 2 - 3 weeks. I’m eating normally now - treats, good portions but have not put on any weight. I’m active. I’ve never got back into drinking, I do enjoy it during a social occasion but not fussed to have it at home at all.
I’m size 8 - 10 now. 5ft 8. My hair loss has stopped now I’m only intermittently jabbing. The only downside is my face looks older. I think esp the lower part looks worse

ShesRunningOutTheDoor · Yesterday 15:29

@ihavetocookagain that seems like quite a lot of clothes for this time of year!!

@ihavetocookagain that seems like quite a lot of clothes for this time of year!!

I know, I have always been cold but it’s ridiculous. My blood pressure has always been on the low side and I get Raynaud's, but it is really ludicrous.

maddiemookins16mum · Yesterday 22:14

Hi all, I’m a few weeks away from it being a year from taking my first jab, I’m now 9 stone 5 with a bmi of 22.8. I was 13 stone 12 a year ago!

I’m now looking to move to a lower maintenance dose until September. I’d love to be 8 stone 7 by then, I was that weight until I was 33.

Focusispower · Yesterday 23:53

@ihavetocookagain yes I have definitely found that MJ has made me feel very flat. Not quite depressed but lacking any enthusiasm and a big meh. There was an article in the Times about this last week. It is potentially dopamine related. From the article:

This is not depression — it’s not even as thrilling as that — but what a doctor might call a case of the “blah, blah, blahs”, where you just lose your enthusiasm for everything. Or, to use the technical term, anhedonia, which is a kind of emotional flattening.

I also feel more anxious, generally but also very specifically around food. I bought my very slim 8 year old a pastry and I almost felt overwhelmed with sudden anxiety watching her eat it and thinking about the saturated fat and sugar. It was so weird and very unlike ‘me’.
