very jealous of your Thailand and Vietnam plans, @2025istheyeari !
Sorry about the cold, it's the virus season. School just called that both mine are covered in rash - I'm quite sure it's slapped cheek, so they are no longer contagious, but picked them up so they can have an afternoon off anyway.

@Aimingdown some people really get evangelical about it, like they're in a cult. Just because you are this or that, doesn't mean one is not 'allowed' other colours, it's not a law. Peronally it helps me to steer clear of some colours that I really like as such, but I have to admit that they drain me, like fuchsia pink or bright jewel colours. I think all those million subseasons are way overboard though, of course soft summer coloured people can wear true summer palette just fine.

Have a guy painting the walls as we speak. Calling that paint taupe should be reported to trading standards. It's not even related to taupe. It's rather a mauve-ish beige, but I love it. Hope it will look good with the furniture and curtains back as well.

Aimingdown · 25/11/2025 12:10

@2025istheyeari @HeidiLite i really need to mute that group as I am thinking exactly like you. I already know that some colours really don’t do it for me and have found some that miraculously look great so (apart from mild curiosity) was looking for a few more hints along the lines of ‘try this colour that you may not have thought of as it might look fab’. Maybe in the form of accessories. I am not looking to get rid of most of my wardrobe, and people suggesting that their shoes need to be in their colour pallet is frankly nuts. Then they start on body shape too (I swerved that analysis as I think I can do that myself). It is quite cult-like!

Anyway, I’ll stop boring you all with my ranting. Still hovering around 1.5 kg over my goal but titrating down anyway and so far so good as our ‘birthdays’ approach.

Rising panic at the thought of all the people who are fully organised for Christmas - kudos to you greater beings. I’m hoping it will influence me to get going.

I decided to get a colour analysis as I’ve never had one and am buying a few smaller clothes. Went with Style Me Happy as recommended elsewhere on Mumsnet. Apparently I’m a true spring which seems to mostly involve dressing like a children’s TV presenter. I also joined the Facebook page but I’m not sure I can cope - it’s quite a weird vibe with people talking about not being ‘allowed’ to wear certain colours and some truly hideous clothes being shown off.

I've not started, although reading these posts made me panic buy for two nieces. If earmarked the thing I thought hubby told me he wanted but I saw yesterday he'd bought it for himself so no idea what to get him. I only really have hubby and kids stockings to do plus a few smaller pressies for the kids but I've no idea what to go for. Hubby decided to buy the kids a switch 2 and his family are buying them games or accessories. I don't want to end up buying them shower gels etc a la my childhood but also don't want to buy them tat or too much chocolate. They are 12 and 8, both girls although youngest is a tomboy.. literally don't know where to start!

Aimingdown · 25/11/2025 12:19

Argh @tinyemmy why do DHs do that?? Partners, please have the decency NOT to buy yourself things in November/December!

HeidiLite · 25/11/2025 12:56

Squishmallows @tinyemmy ? DD will also get some fluffy socks, slippers, sherpa blanket etc, anything soft and fluffy seems to be a hit.
I also just ordered both mine different Japanese snack subscription boxes, that should keep them happy.

BlueLimes · 25/11/2025 13:00

@tinyemmy it’s all about the jelly cats this year !!

meatyryvita · 25/11/2025 13:45

All this Christmas talk is making me feel all festive! I am one of those very annoying people who starts Christmas shopping in September and at this point, I generally just have a few stocking fillers to get. The same has rung true for this year - pretty much done and so I can relax a bit in December.

We're redecorating too (I think @HeidiLite mentioned it?). When I say 'we', I mean 'me'. Our lounge has been painted in Dimpse by F&B for years but in low autumn/winter light, it just looks dirty. I am repainting it in Strong White (love F&B colours) which looks much better in all lights in our house.

On the weight front, having worked out this morning, I thought I'd try a cheeky early weigh in and I have seen the TENS for the first time in about 25/30 years!. 10.12.3 which blew me away!

Have a great week losers!

What a feeling @meatyryvita !!

I started my Xmas shopping this week - I used to be done by end November, but have slackened somewhat now the kids are older. The pressure feels off now they know the big man is not real....

Sticking within my maintenance weight, even with a weekend away with my girlfriends, two months post last jab. It's starting to feel habitual. Once I've got through the feasting season I'll feel more confident...

Jins · 25/11/2025 15:03

Christmas shopping chez jins is setting up a couple of bank transfers, buying fruit for cake and pudding and sourcing absolute crap for what the DSs have named the ‘bag of shite’. One year they complained that it was too good! This year I have a cunning plan and they are each getting a £20 mystery box from the Amazon returns place. I mean if they don’t think it’s good enough to put on the shelves….

I’m hovering around 8st 12 and quite happy with that but I definitely need to lower my dose next jab. I mentioned the strawberry and lime cider repeating on me - last nights lasagne is doing the same thing. I’m still really enjoying the high level of suppression I’m getting from a dose that barely touched the sides when I was titrating up. I’ve got a 10mg pen on the way in January but I’m going to have to work out an ordering schedule after that.

All this talk of decorating! We too have things going on. Traditionally DH moves inside to create chaos every November and this year is no different. He’s removed the door frame between kitchen and utility room. We took the door off in 2001 and the frame hasn’t been particularly offensive since then but for some reason it’s gone. Work started 3 weeks ago and the fridge has been in the middle of the kitchen since then. It’s slightly better than the year I cooked Xmas dinner in an oven resting on a pallet.

HeidiLite · 25/11/2025 15:44

Living room is painted, love it! I have a guy though, can't even contemplate the horror of DH deciding to do any DIY. Let's just say the lego set I got him last Xmas is still very much in initial assembly stages..

HeidiLite · 25/11/2025 18:14

also isn't it exciting how many new drugs are being developed. Reta, eloralintide, Novo Nordisk just reported promising results from amycretin - once those drugs go generic and prices hopefully drop, they will help so many people strugging with obesity.

Will you stay on MJ until then?
im debating what to do now I’m fairly near goal.

HeidiLite · 25/11/2025 19:42

I will stay on MJ for the foreseeable future. Will play around with dose, see how much I can reduce it. But I want my body to get used to the new weight set point and I don't trust myself without the drug.

Grecianrainbow · 25/11/2025 20:11

But of Xmas shopping done today here too but also realised a disconnect between what I see when I look down at myself and what I see in the mirror. Finally dropped a dress size I think from trying things on today but am sitting on my hands as I’ve another stone to go and you’ve forewarned me about those last lbs. So don’t want to buy things that won’t last for long. I’ll have lots for vinted but wrong season for summer things to go I think.
I’m also thinking I’ll be on mj for a while to stick to the set point as I really don’t want to bounce back up.

myladyjane · 25/11/2025 20:51

@2025istheyeari @Aimingdown that’s who I used for my style/colour analysis and I thought it was shit. Less of the colour bits as I didn’t expect loads and some of the make up recs were ok. The style analysis was atrocious - literally a massive waste of cash. Don’t get the love.

my husband refuses to decorate until the house is falling down, so I will live vicariously through you lot.

BlueLimes · 25/11/2025 21:29

@HeidiLite same for me but I hope to maintain at 7.5mg.

amazing to be in the 10s @meatyryvita

Great shopping @2025istheyeari I’m hoping to go early Saturday (I know it will be crazy 😬).

The last 5lbs one lost seem to have made a big difference. 4.5lbs to go ..

I think also we need to settle into what our new style will be?

Polkadotdash · 25/11/2025 21:39

I’ve just remembered that I didn’t take my jab on SUNDAY! Shit. What is wrong with my memory?! I spend all my time thinking about whether I’ve lost any weight yet and then I forget the jab for two days.

Polkadotdash · 25/11/2025 21:42

I was happily catching up on the thread (thank you @cloudjumper for the boredom warning on Wicked 2. I have a tween who wants me to take her and the first film was annoying enough) and thinking about how much I hate Christmas shopping when suddenly I thought ‘when did I do my jab?’

2025istheyeari · 25/11/2025 21:48

Wonder how come the reviews are all so good then if the 3 of us have all had crappy experiences!!
@BlueLimesget there early and hopefully you’ll be fine! Lots of beauty stuff too🤭. I’m off into Oxford on Saturday which I’m sure will also be crazy! Also congratulations on being so close to goal 🎉

Yay, well done @meatyryvitathat’s phenomenal!!

Your decorator is speedy @HeidiLite! agree, new meds development is fantastic news, but like you, I’m staying on MJ for the foreseeable, I really want to get used to a set point I’ve not had since I was a teen probably! I’m going to play with the doses a bit too.

2025istheyeari · 25/11/2025 22:00

Sorry, hope the children are ok @HeidiLite, ds had slapped cheek when he was little and it was horrible. Thanks for well wishes, I’ve had a v lazy day and feeling ok!
@Polkadotdashand @cloudjumper, I’m supposed to be seeing the second Wicked film too but reviews aren’t good!!

HeidiLite · 25/11/2025 22:03

Children are perfectly fine so not even sure what it was. Maybe some other random viral rash.

Judging by the Facebook group, it’s a lot of people who have no confidence at all about how to dress and are desperate to be given rules to follow

myladyjane · 26/11/2025 08:32

To be fair @Aimingdownthats a bit like me. I am awful at knowing how to dress well. But just generic guidance I had already googled didn’t help. A colleague is doing a personal shopping session at our local John Lewis soon and she’s going to report back. I know it’s quite stylist dependent there and she’s a bit younger and a lot thinner than me but we have fairly similar taste so could be something I think about in the spring.

have a good day all.

Jins · 26/11/2025 08:49

I think we all know deep down what suits us, problems always come when fashion veers away from our styles and we’re left wondering what on earth to wear. Like wide leg trousers, high waists and block heel shoes for me It’s all you can find in the shops and has been for so long that clothes shopping is no fun at all. I’ve given up on my quest for jeans and I’ll make do with my too big M&S pair and a pair of charity shop gap jeans for now.

Accountability post incoming. Yesterday I had more than I intended of my birthday Lindor chocs. So hard to stop with those so counting the wrappers I had 7. Didn’t eat well yesterday on the whole as the fridge is bare but overall I don’t think I went too mad. You can’t be perfect all the time I guess.

Very excited by the new drugs, if only that they will inevitably lead to price drops long term. I’m sticking with MJ for as long as it’s affordable because of the positive side effects that have transformed my health and life but sacrifices are having to be made to pay for it. It just feels too risky to switch, I don’t want to go back to where I was.
