Happy new year to all of you!

It my MJ anniversary today - what a journey. I had a soppy moment in the gym yesterday and got DH to take a photo of me with a 30 kg dumbbell 😁 I struggle to lift it, and to think that this time last year, I was carrying this around constantly! No wonder I felt so crap.

Quiet NYE here - we had some friends around, and spent the evening eating and playing board games, it was very chilled. I didn’t want to drink - I went out with a friend on Sunday, and ended up having a bottle of wine. I felt soo rough on Monday! So no desire to drink again so soon 😂
Back to work tomorrow 😟 hoping it will be quiet, since most of my colleagues and clients will still be off!
We’ve just booked a trip to Athens for half term, really looking forward to that. I’m hoping to travel more this year!

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 02/01/2026 07:11

Sorry to hear about your mum @hunkydory54 . Remember to look after yourself in the process, I have been there and it is tough at times.

@cloudjumper an amazing loss!

I watched something on the BBC news on WLI yesterday, they followed two people who had been prescribed on the NHS which was very interesting. The losses were much slower than most on here. One woman, start weight the same as mine, lost 2st in 12 months, started going to the gym regularly and reversed her diabetes and no longer needed insulin - absolutely fabulous news for her health. Clinicians were extremely happy with her progress. Puts it into perspective doesn't it - particularly for people like me = slow loser compared to most. I think we have all done very well (said like young Mr Grace).

I've been looking at the things I need to buy for my new house, I can't order until I've exhanged but I'm thinking of buying an Everhot cooker, I'm off to a showroom today which is quite exciting.

myladyjane · 02/01/2026 10:55

@cloudjumper congrats on your anniversary my lovely. So well done.

@PenelopesProteinPackedParty as ever my goddess quoting are you being served. I have no idea what one of those ovens is but do enjoy looking.

I am enjoying my last day off by still being in bed. Dd2 has gone off shopping with a mate and dd1 is off somewhere else. Dh is happy in his man cave (he had dad cabbed and made me tea so we will let him). I need to head towards the supermarket for a bit of a big shop so I may walk down then get dh to pick me up.

i need to do some peloton this afternoon, take my jab, do a bit of food prep/planning. And return dhs Christmas trainers in next as they were too big. But slowly.

myladyjane · 02/01/2026 10:58

@PenelopesProteinPackedParty I was thinking of our ‘slow’ losses. We actually really aren’t that slow I don’t think. I am about 4lb off 5 stone now so about 66lb. 2 weeks until my anniversary so that averages out at just over a lb a week. Which in our 50s with a host of hormonal shit going down is bloody good isn’t it. We fucking rock mate.

MJalltheway · 02/01/2026 11:34

Almost 5 stone is incredible @myladyjane !! Definitely not slow at all!

Sorry to hear about your mum @hunkydory54 , it's such a worry as they get older.

that looks a very swanky cooker @PenelopesProteinPackedParty !

I've done my first exercise of the year - Bodypump class this morning. Now can't walk after inordinate numbers of squats and lunges 😂

Post Christmas tidy-up on the cards today although resisting DH's noises about taking down the decorations, at least until tomorrow...

DGonMJ · 02/01/2026 12:40

@myladyjane 5 stone is amazing, and a really safe steady rate of weight loss.

@MJalltheway well done on the fist class of the year.

@PenelopesProteinPackedParty that’s a really comforting story. And enjoy hob shopping!

I didn’t run yesterday as DH wanted to test his knee on a longer walk - so we did that instead and he’s getting better everyday. So got on the peloton bike today and pushed myself on a HIIT class.

It’ll be my MJ anniversary on Monday. Having taken 6 months to get to what I thought was target, 3 months of finding my maintenance dose and 3 months of actual stable maintenance.
I’m looking forward to a year of thinking less about my weight and more about enjoying building strength and fitness. DH having a knee injury for 5 months has really shown us the impact of reduced mobility. No weekend walks to the woods, no holiday coastal hikes, city breaks are tricky, constant pain management.

I’ve nearly sorted out the year’s holiday plan. Just need to clear the Easter week with my team at work and make sure we’ve got enough cover, before I book. Thinking about a week in Malta.

I think tree will come down today. So we have a clear weekend.

BlueLimes · 02/01/2026 12:50

Cleared the Christmas food.

My average loss is 0.8 lbs weekly 🙄

Tbf - could have been stricter- didn’t lose appetite.

Anyone watching traitors?

cloudjumper · 02/01/2026 12:59

tinyemmy · 02/01/2026 13:44

Happy New Year everyone!
I'm 4.5lbs up through excesses in December and no longer jabbing, dose diary estimates 1.04mg still in my system. I wonder if it's having an effect (I've also started on 30mg of Elvanse). Currently not wanting to go over my target at Slimming World is encouraging me to stay away from the extras but I'm away this weekend!

Sorry to hear about your mum @hunkydory54

Congratulations on the anniversary @cloudjumpermone is on 8th January! I was looking through renpho data and I've never maintained a weight loss before and now have for 6 months (with mj), hopefully I can maintain for the next 6 months without it (pen arriving from Pharmulous on 7th as an emergency and to remain on their books for a year)

BlueLimes · 02/01/2026 13:51

@hunkydory54 so sorry I missed your post, that sounds really tough. Take care and wishing your mum a speedy recovery.

BlueLimes · 02/01/2026 13:51

cloudjumper · 02/01/2026 12:59

#teamtraitors here

I haven’t got anyone I’m routing for but a few that are already annoying me - Rachel and the guy who thinks he can read people 🙄

HeidiLite · 02/01/2026 14:31

my MJ anniversary is end of January, 28 I think. I will take a before and after photo and may even post it.
Congrats in first Bodypump of the year @MJalltheway Tomorrow may be a little challenging :D

I did a little shopping trip, wanted some joggers for gym warm up, it has been a little chilly. TK Maxx didn't have anything I liked in women's section, but got a nice Adidas pair in kids size. Cheaper as well. Shopping in teen section is certainly not something I was expecting.

Aimingdown · 02/01/2026 14:47

Not watching Traitors but I’ve been looking forward to the Night Manager, although I’m sure it won’t be as good as the first one.
I know an HCP who lost 2.5 stone in a year (didn’t look that big to me in the first place but a guy so maybe a little harder to judge), and is now microdosing as he likes the anti-inflammatory side of it. He’s really happy with his results and does look great.
Went back to the gym for (strict!) push press today. Wasn’t sure arms would be up to it but actually felt better after the class. Maybe there is hope!

RockyisMYRhino · 02/01/2026 15:29

waves at everyone I’m slowly catching up on everyone’s posts but had a manic week between Xmas and nye which included getting myself some antibiotics for a burst eardrum (extremely painful 100% do not recommend!) and celebrating DS2s birthday! Haven’t really had the energy to do much exercise for a while now but im hopeful that once the DC go back to school I’ll get back into it! Have encouraged myself by getting some new workout tops in a M which I haven’t been able to do for years!!! I’m getting extremely flirty with the 12 stone mark on the scales now and if I can break through it I will have lost 3 stone this year and be within half a stone of my pre pregnancy weight 8 years ago Confused

myladyjane · 02/01/2026 16:39

I am torn on the secret traitor thing. I think I quite like it but they need to do it well.

@BlueLimes still almost a lb a week. Over a pack of butter innit.

first day back on it today and dh wanted to pop to Nando’s whilst we were out. Ffs. But actually it was fine - I was perfectly happy with my beanie burger patty (urgh) and brocolli. Big bottle of water. I am cooking up some raspberry chia jam and found both some stevia and salted caramel baking extract in the cupboard from many years ago. So I’ve chucked that in to make salted caramel raspberry jam. It tasted quite good! Also popped to Morrisons and not only got an excellent deal on some frozen fish but also some custard cream flavour tea. I have the palate of a toddler….

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 02/01/2026 17:05

@myladyjane that's a very impressive loss my friend. I've just checked nutracheck - 59lbs here (I can never remember and always have to look!).

Impressive cooker viewed @MJalltheway, however, it might be a bit premature - issue highlighted today with the house I am buying. Why would you extend and not do it properly?? I won't be messing about if there is an issue with building regs. Guess I will just have to wait and see what next week brings .... when the world wakes up from Christmas. 😤I'm getting to the point where I think I might actually agree to rent if this house goes tits up.

Well done to the gym returners and that sounds really awful @RockyisMYRhino, poor you, DS has had a burst eardrum twice and I remember it being really awful. I hope you're back to normal soon.

@myladyjane wow 😅that sounds very inventive, something DD would love I am sure, salted caramel raspberry jam.

No idea what's to eat here later, I had a sandwich from a deli on the road earlier that was really sickly so I am not feeling it.

Polkadotdash · 02/01/2026 17:40

I’m still trying to find the courage to weigh myself post-Christmas. Can I eke out the bad news until Sunday I wonder? I forced myself to look at post Christmas finances today. That was bad enough. I’ve got to go through my wardrobe and try to find some more stuff to sell to make my jab money this month or I might have to miss a few weeks. 🙁

HeidiLite · 02/01/2026 17:45

I like the Swiss system - most companies pay your yearly salary in 13 instalments instead of 12, meaning you get a double salary in December. Really helps withXmas expenses and any expenses you pay yearly in January.

2025istheyeari · 02/01/2026 19:12

Ouch burst eardrum sounds painful @RockyisMYRhino, hope the meds kick in soon.

Sorry to hear about your mum @hunkydory54that sounds really tough, hope you’re ok.

Fingers crossed on the house @PenelopesProteinPackedParty, so stressful moving, really hope it’s all ok.

I don’t think we should measure by what we’ve lost/ how quickly, I think the fact we’re all still here a year later and slimmer and healthier than we were is phenomenal, perseverance and determination is what matters and we’ve all proved that we have that in spades!

Nice wintery walk with a friend today and ds is cooking kedgeree for tea. I’ve dropped 2 of the pounds I’d put on, but we have a bit of a social weekend so I’m getting back to it on Monday.

I’m definitely watching Traitors but missed last nights, will try to catch up tonight @BlueLimes!

I’ve been online shopping today! Super cheap swimming costumes in the M&S sale, I had to ditch 2 when I was away as they were just too big and saggy 😂. I’ve also bought a cardigan I had my eyes on in Jigsaw and some cords and a jumper from Whistles. Next on the list is pyjamas. I also saw a gorgeous jumper in me + em but sadly sold out in my size, probably for the best as it wasn’t cheap! I’m living in blissful ignorance on finances for now! Agree with @HeidiLite, a number of European countries pay 13 salaries and it really can help!

Hope you all have fab weekends!

BlueLimes · 02/01/2026 19:26

@2025istheyeari you need to put everything on hold to catch up! Lovely shopping - you’ve reminded me I need a new swimsuit.
hope the building regs are easy to sort @PenelopesProteinPackedParty
@Polkadotdash hope the scales are kind to you.

@myladyjane you’re so right.

if someone had said to me years ago, you can lose 3 stone in 1 year for ££ - I’d have thought I’d have more chance of meeting a unicorn.

Polkadotdash · 02/01/2026 19:28

@HeidiLite my husband gets his pay in 13 payments, but it just runs on a 4 week cycle. It’s a total pain in the arse as his payday is different every month and the double month happens at a different time each year. And with the most household expenses being paid monthly it makes it really difficult to budget properly.

Polkadotdash · 02/01/2026 19:32

@BlueLimes i know what you mean. I was moaning to my cousin over Christmas about having spent £1k on weight loss jabs. She said ‘if someone had said to you in January 2025 what would you pay to be nearly 12st, you would have jumped at the £1k price tag’ and I thought, yeah she’s right. When I think about what I’ve spent in the past on gym memberships, weight watchers and even at one point when I was very flush a personal trainer and I remained fat, £1k seems cheap!

HeidiLite · 02/01/2026 20:35

@Polkadotdash wow that's really not helpful, what a silly system.

And yes totally, if someone said I get to be a size XS for 1000 quid, I would have taken that offer in a heartbeat! Well, it's a bit more considering all the new clothes I had to buy, but I am not complaining about that,

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 03/01/2026 07:31

Jab day according to Shotsy today - can't believe that I must check back up the thread to see when I actually last injected 😅.

House update - I know a bit more now than I did after speaking to a surveyor friend 😤.

We did think that the stairs up to the first floor of the granny annexe were extremely steep with fairly narrow treads. I was contemplating altering the access/them as I wouldn't want to come down them too often and DD has dyspraxia - we would both end up damaged!

The options are to get a couple of specialists in and seek BR retroactively or buy an indemnity insurance.

I want a safely constructed house. The heartbreaking fire in the Cotswolds over Christmas has probably focused my mind on living in an as safe as it can be house so an indemnity policy won't cut it for me. I'll walk away. There's a reason for everything you know, a reason why this house has been on the market for six months perhaps! FFS.

Jins · 03/01/2026 08:02

Have you checked the planning and building control register @PenelopesProteinPackedParty? I’d be more than happy to have a look at the history for you if you’d like. Message me the address if you’re happy doing so and if I find anything untoward I’ll let you know. It should come up on a search if your solicitor knows their stuff but thoroughness in searches for conveyancing is rare in my experience. I
can’t give you a formal opinion any more as I’ve dropped to retired status.

Just under two hours to my weight verification with Oushk and I’m going to have to be careful with what I say. I’m awaiting replies from a couple of alternative prescribers to see if they’ll support the dosing regime I thought I’d agreed with Oushk but it’s going to be tight to get a new maintenance provider in time for an 8th Jan delivery date. So reluctantly I’ll do what I have to do to get this pen delivered. It’s a shame as the Oushk flexi plan formed a key part of my future plans
