How very irritating @PenelopesProteinPackedParty

@Polkadotdash I haven't weighed yet either. I can't see the point right now. I've weirdly come on 2 weeks early, and I want a few days of normality under my belt before doing so. Monday is WI day usually, so will do then.

Off for what looks to be a very cold run this morning, shopping for a few hours and then home. I also need a swimming costume. Went for a sauna and dip in the lake last night. Oh my. That was cold. Hurt my legs it was so cold. Felt like I sweated out a few toxins though.

Two more days till work...

@RockyisMYRhino ouch. Is it better now?

RockyisMYRhino · 03/01/2026 10:15

@Thelittlestrangerits slowly starting to feel a bit better now but we have the last Xmas blowout at a noisy venue today and I’m really sad that I can’t use my loop earplugs!

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 03/01/2026 11:29

Thank you @Jins. I’ve just spoken to the agent again this morning and they are checking with the seller. I have 100% decided not to proceed unless it was signed off properly. Safety being paramount, but also price, which is inflated because of the annexe I don’t really need!

There was something else I liked, still available. No complications apparent, house as built structurally, needs updating but that’s reflected in the price.

I try not to get attached, I can make anything nice, for me a house isn’t just our home, it also needs to be a good investment for my kids/something to give them a decent deposit later on. I view it as a business transaction mostly at this stage so am pretty laid back about it other than wasting cash mostly. The kids are far more invested in getting attached than I am. Once I’ve exchanged I’m in, until then whatever will be will be.

Shame about Oushk @Jins. Their approach seems to change doesn’t it/they seem to be in need of a long term strategy.

@RockyisMYRhino pleased it’s getting better.

I’m wearing size 12 fitted cords with a ….. tucked in long sleeve top and a belt I haven’t worn for five years today. Feels really good losers 🥳.

myladyjane · 03/01/2026 14:31

@RockyisMYRhino pleased you are on the mend

@Jinsthis maintenance stuff sounds annoying. I hope you can get an alternative sorted

@PenelopesProteinPackedParty I think you have the right attitude. I hope it comes back ok but good there is an alternative (and updating to your taste sounds like a potentially fun project).

I did a final shop of the sales before my no spend til march payday and I remain baffled by sizing and also what actually suits me. I managed to pick up some navy viscose work trousers from the next sale which are ideal for regular office days for 16 quid down from 50 but they are a 16 and are not loose whereas I fit in xs stuff in John Lewis. I also got a lovely mohair cardigan from seasalt in exactly my colour and sized up to a 14 as I wanted it baggy and it’s verging on the too big. My jeans also kept falling down and trailing on the floor. I think making do with what I have for a couple of months is needed to settle tbh as I also thought I looked a bit scraggy.

Grecianrainbow · 03/01/2026 18:20

Sizing is awful @myladyjane I’ve some old skinny jeans in a 14 which just fit, have some new joggers in M which is 12-14 apparently, pjs in 12-14 which are on the generous side and a jacket from next which is a 12. The numbers are such a headf*ck.

Jins · 03/01/2026 19:17

Weprescribe came back with a detailed and positive reply so I need to do a bit of research. No reply from the others yet but it is the weekend after new year so that’s understandable. I’ve had my weight checked by Oushk and rather bizarrely I was asked to stand by the door frame despite me having already provided proof from NHS and highly unlikely to have changed height. They’ve got 5 days to approve, prescribe and deliver a pen and I’m not convinced I’ll get one.

I’ve had a lovely peaceful day as DH has been out and DS2 keeping himself to himself.

Polkadotdash · 03/01/2026 20:54

@myladyjane I bought a size 10 hush blouse in the sale for £12. There is no way on god’s green earth I’m a size 10. I also tried on a size 12 Fat Face skirt and it fitted me. Absolute jokes. I’m still a 16 in some brands.

Vinted sales going well. Already got £45 towards jab money. Crossing fingers for some more profits.

Polkadotdash · 03/01/2026 20:58

Although I am getting pissed off with people who make offers, I accept and then they don’t buy the item. Why make an offer in the first place? Grrrr.

myladyjane · 03/01/2026 21:15

@Polkadotdash I hate that! Like don’t bother if you don’t want it. I only sell now on stuff I actually think is worth the effort. I listed a lovely coat yesterday for a good price (it’s just silly big on me now sadly) and someone sent me a rubbish offer almost immediately. It had only been listed an hour and they expected me to take a 50% reduction.

MJalltheway · 03/01/2026 21:15

Oh @Polkadotdash I'm guilty of that at times! I don't like having notifications allowed on my phone because it's so demanding of your attention but I also don't remember to always check back (and suspect I may slightly have ADHD) so the minute I switch off the app I forget I've even made an offer....

Polkadotdash · 03/01/2026 22:44

@MJalltheway 🤣🤣🤣 maybe that explains it!

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 04/01/2026 08:30

Interesting to hear about sales shopping. Sizing sounds like it is over the place @myladyjane .

I might have a look again today but I think I've done quite well 😜, so far I have bought a pure wool suit, two blouses, very nice sweater, a pure wool coat and some gorgeous boots. Whistles, Hobbs and Jigsaw have sent me discount code emails this morning ..... they must be able to read my mind.

I had thought about no more spending, but I do need some new clothes and might as well buy in the sales on the basis that I can buy a 12 in the shops I like and I don't want to be any smaller than that.

8.33mg jabbed this morning.

I'm not thinking about my house situation today - clothes shopping, a trip to Waitrose in the flesh 😱which happens rarely and reading my book.

HeidiLite · 04/01/2026 08:39

weight gain over the 2 weeks of holidays, 1.5 kilos. Am 60 now, which is not a number I wanted to see. But I have certainly been eating and snacking more due to being around food all the time, and there have also been some drinks. 58.5 before holidays and my goal is 57. Should not be too difficult to tackle when I go back to normal eating next week. But also, at least some of it is muscle, I've been lifting heavy and glutes are certainly looking plumper.
That has been also my shopping this year, more sports clothes. After I discovered I can actually wear the built in bra tops, something that has never before been possible thanks to massive boobs, I've gone a little crazy there and have them in all the colours. So comfortable though!

Happy Sunday, losers!

Thelittlestranger · 04/01/2026 08:47

Sounds like a fabulous day @PenelopesProteinPackedParty

I snuck on the scales today and I'm 9 stone and 1/4lb. I like to be between 8.12 and 9. So, I'm honestly delighted with that. I'm basically where I am usually on a Monday before heading into the week.

I've been eating and drinking very relaxed, and I can only think it's the amount of running I've been doing that has kept it in check. Now I need to get back on it this week, which I am more than ready for. Also need to update my strength sessions again to twice a week.

Today's plans involve seeing my sister, roast dinner with lots of veg, a game with OH and probably walking the dogs. Enjoy everyone!

Thelittlestranger · 04/01/2026 08:53

And I meant to add, OH bought me a skirt from Boohoo (it was a poor choice of skirt as it was very short and for a teenager) and it was size 8 and I couldn't get it up my thighs. Everything else I have bought in the last 6 months has been size 8. The discrepancy in sizes is very hard to manage.

I can't say I wasn't relieved in this particular moment that it didn't fit however....

2025istheyeari · 04/01/2026 09:09

Sizing is just weird isn’t it, not helpful when buying on line. Everything I ordered is going back. M&S stuff hasn’t arrived yet, I did buy a gorgeous cardigan from Jigsaw in real life, but find I have to try different sizes in each shop.
Sounds like you’ve done really well in the sales @PenelopesProteinPackedParty, I may take another look too, no discount code from Jigsaw for me though sadly.
Think your attitude with the house is right, must still be so annoying though, fingers crossed the situation is resolved soon.
Still not weighed here, planning that and jab tomorrow.
Well done @Thelittlestrangerthat’s amazing!
@Jinshope the maintenance situation sorted, it’s really so annoying. Oushk must be losing lots of customers. My bolt pen arrives today.
Christmas decs down here today and a long winters walk.

2025istheyeari · 04/01/2026 09:35

I bought some pork loin steaks and struggling to find a nice recipe, does anyone have any ideas please?! Thanks

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 04/01/2026 10:19

I struggle with pork recipes @2025istheyeari , I rarely buy it now.

I made a Mexican inspired thing with black beans, oranges, tomatoes and pork loin steaks from the good food website the last time I searched for a recipe but I can't find it this morning. I'd probably bash them with a rolling pin between clingfilm and make schnitzel if I had to cook them today. Other than that, the only pork recipe I really like is a Jamie Oliver recipe, marinated loin roasted with parma ham and rhubarb (can't seem to find a direct link to post). I might do a version of that too.

Oh and guess what, none of the discount codes apply to the things that are reduced!

I've added a few work items this morning, two dresses and a jumper - I am now done.

Jins · 04/01/2026 10:38

Just had an email to say a pen from oushk is on the way. What a faff it has been and I got very shirty in my last message. Weprescribe are my front runners for a switch but I won’t need to order till the end of February.

DGonMJ · 04/01/2026 10:47

@PenelopesProteinPackedParty I did a massive sales shop with whistles - navy jacket and navy trousers, a cream crocheted jumper, a belt I’d had in my basket for 3 months, matching linen trousers to a jacket bought last summer, I got some beautiful dark green leather trousers reduced from £500 to £350. They’ve reduced the leather trousers again to below £300. I’m thinking about returning and buying them again - but I chucked the returns sheet. So annoying when they do that. Next year I’ll wait till after new years before clicking to buy.

@2025istheyeari I marinate them in a mustard and herb coating and then pop them on a tray of chopped veg and do a traybake:

  1. In a small bowl mix Dijon mustard, 1 tbsp olive oil, Herbes de Provence, salt, and pepper. Rub evenly over pork chops.
  2. spread the squash, aubergine, onions, zucchini, and garlic. Drizzle with the remaining olive oil and season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of Herbes de Provence.
  3. roast for 35-40mins at 200C.

We often buy pork tenderloin fillet as it’s so lean and cheap - and roast that to have sliced over a veg bowl or veg stew. Yesterday we had it with a sweet potato and chickpea coconut stew.

In maintenance news - it’s jab day today and I’m back up to over 58kg. So now I’m wondering whether to stick to 2.5mg or try to go lower again as part of my aim to build more muscle. Will report back later. I’m v happy at this weight but I do worry about future health and I know maintaining muscle is key to that.

Zempy · 04/01/2026 10:51

I’m praying my pen from Oushk just arrives on Wednesday, despite their weird emails.

Agree re sizing. I currently fit into such a wide range, from M&S size 6 jeans and skirts, to size 16 Joules tweed jacket. And everything in between!

My Vinting has been going well. It all helps!

Weighed in today and am back down to 8:5 after my 8:7 post Christmas weigh in. I would like to get back to 8:4 but I’m so bloody cold! I am making a cottage pie tomorrow and can’t wait to get stuck into it for a couple of days.

2025istheyeari · 04/01/2026 10:53

Thanks everyone, we also normally have tenderloin marinated in a kind of teriyaki marinade and stir fry. I don’t think I’ve ever bought loin steaks! Love that JO recipe too @PenelopesProteinPackedParty. May do a veg traybake thing and add at the end ( and make a mental note not to buy again 😂) although schnitzel a good shout.
thank you all!!
well done on the bargains @DGonMJ, leather trousers sound gorgeous!

MJalltheway · 04/01/2026 10:59

I very rarely cook pork either, no one here likes it apart from me.

I've done quite a bit of sales shopping with varying degrees of success. I have 2 new jumpers, a couple of basic tops and a new pair of trousers for work. 90% of what I ordered is going back 😣
more sales stuff should arrive today, hopefully with a new swimming cossie but if it doesn't fit (endless struggle to git big boobs and tall torso) I've got my eye on one in Long Tall Sally (full price) instead. The ones I wear for aquafit are cheapo supermarket ones and getting too baggy round the bum.

I weighed this morning and am 0.4kg up from my lowest weight before Christmas . I've been eating so much chocolate! Time to put it all away and reset. It does feel weird not to be starting the new year with a resolution to lose weight.

I'm looking at Pharmulous as a potential new provider - anyone used them? Just need to get a full length photo with a date and hope they will accept my bmi

BlueLimes · 04/01/2026 11:02

Morning all !!

I can’t believe we’re now the old January starters.

im avoiding the scales - was out last night. Agree re sizing - Ive sone size 8 Gap jeans but a size 12 top from Next was too small. Inspired by all your lovely shopping - I think I’ll have a browse. Just been to the gym, jacuzzi and steam 😊
