Morning!

I love a glass of fizz at this time of year. I’ve also just bought a bottle of rhubarb and ginger gin, that always feels more wintery to me for some reason.
Just looked up a Sea Breeze, apparently it’s vodka, cranberry and grapefruit juice. Sounds delicious!

Went out for our work Christmas meal last night to a Turkish restaurant I’ve been wanting to try for ages. Absolutely fantastic. And because I haven’t jabbed for almost 2 weeks I was able to eat plenty of it. Will definitely be going again.

And finally, I’m definitely fully recovered, because I’ve had a solid poo! I’ve also gained about 3lb but I was expecting that as my body’s been all over the place the last week or so. Back on the MJ train on Monday

Zempy · 05/12/2025 08:52

@MJalltheway just pop a couple of ice cubes in it!!

Polkadotdash · 05/12/2025 09:17

You are all very good taking your supplements. I am so shite at remembering to take anything that I have cupboards full of good intention vitamins that are all out of date. I’ve booked for a vitamin d jab next week to get me super boosted. And I’m going to TRY to take my iron tablets but I can’t promise anything.

I weighed myself this morning and still stuck at 12st 8lb. Been here for weeeeeeeks. I need something to get over this plateau. With Christmas looming I can’t see how I can cut down. Although I did have a Baileys the other day and struggled to finish it and I absolutely love Baileys. So maybe there is hope.

I’m fast approaching my first anniversary on WLI. My first order was 15 Dec last year. I can’t believe we’ve all been chatting for so long. It’s lovely to find a little corner of MN that is gentle and kind. 🥰

Thelittlestranger · 05/12/2025 11:15

29th December was my first jab. I remember it so well, because I had ordered it before Xmas and was going to start in the new year. I went away for a night after Xmas, and got back feeling so fat and lethargic after eating all the food that I decided to just start immediately. I remember New Years, we were at home, and I was just completely uninterested in the lovely food we had bought for the first time ever. But I was still having a lovely time. It was mind blowing.

Just been for a run, off shopping shortly. Have bought some new boots - venturing away from trainers into some kitten heels. Feel like I can get away with them now?!?! Not sure if I can walk on them though 🙄

HeidiLite · 05/12/2025 11:48

I started end of January - we went to Thailand for Xmas and I happily indulged in local food and beverages. When we came back, I stepped on the scale. We have individual profiles registered, so the scale would automatically find yours.
Except that it didn't. It said 'Hello DH's name!'

Nothing wrong with weighing the same as your husband, in principle. Except when he's 6'4'' and I am not.

Zempy · 05/12/2025 12:28

I started Jan 8 after a pre Christmas health scare.

SW 13:7 (was 13:8) NYD.
CW 8:5 and stable. Lowest weight 8:4.

My BMI is 20. I still can’t quite believe it.

meatyryvita · 05/12/2025 13:58

I started on the 30th of Jan. I didn’t really know much about WLI but complimented a colleague at work for looking so well (we get on well and are very candid with each other). He told me he was on Mounjaro and I nodded along thinking ‘what on earth is that?!?’. I remember googling it and getting the spelling wrong!

Signed up that very day and fist jab was 30th Jan. I still say to him regularly that I’m so thankful he told me about them when he did. I’m 2/3s of the person I was when we initially discussed it!

January 14th. I was pretty fed up and stuck at 78kg before Christmas, the weight had crept on gradually but relentlessly for quite a few years. I got the first pen then decided not to use it pre-Christmas because I was worried about side effects. Weighed again after New Year and scale said 80! I am now about 1-2kg higher than goal of 57, trying to reduce the dose a little too so not feeling like I’m doing brilliantly right now but at the same time I realise that being stable and wanting to lose 1-2 kg is a very small problem compared with last year. I don’t feel like I’ve lost any strength or energy (gained energy if anything) so that’s a big positive.
I’ve been with Boots throughout due to ease of pick-up and they have been fine although more expensive. Just had a conversation with them about reducing the dose and they seem helpful so far 🤞
All you Friends in my Phone are a fantastic support and information resource, I’m so glad I found a group to go thorough this with x

Jins · 05/12/2025 14:16

January 10th. I’d been researching it but didn’t really fit the criteria as I was BMI 28. Got a referral for investigation into sleep apnoea and realised I could try to get a prescription using that as evidence. I ordered it before Xmas for delivery asap in January but didn’t take it for a few days as I dithered about picking the best day of the week. In the end i reached the conclusion that it was shit or get off the pot time and 10th Jan it was.

Now BMI 22 and going into 2026 in much smaller clothes so I’m pretty happy

Incidentally @MJalltheway not only do I have outdoor oodie envy as I look at my sensible khaki one I now have sticky toffee rum envy. I need to know more about that!

Polkadotdash · 05/12/2025 15:29

Speaking of rum - the Bonne Maman jam today was pineapple and rum! Never heard of that before!

BlueLimes · 05/12/2025 17:44

That sounds lush !!

2025istheyeari · 05/12/2025 18:16

The more I read about bonne maman the more I decide next year’s def the year I buy it!

drinks wise, I dislike Aperol intensely!! My drink of choice this time of year is def champagne, but I also like red wine! Hate mulled wine and don’t have many spirits although I do like a Moscow mule! The Swedish cocktail sounds delish @HeidiLite.

my MJ journey started on 6/1 after my brother coming over on Boxing day looking amazing and telling me he’d been on Wegovy. I started looking into it and went with MJ. My starting weight was 16 3 1/2, I was so worried I’d have awful side effects, and did have a few but nothing major. Here I am 11 months later almost 6 stone down and looking about 10 years younger! My brother, mum and DH remain the only people in rl who know! It’s been brilliant sharing my journey with you all, thanks for the support, encouragement, laughs and kindness, a lovely part of Mumsnet! Hope we all stay here as we reach maintenance. I think my weight is going to bounce a little over the next few weeks and that’s ok, I know if I put a few pounds in it’ll come off again.

we did the ROH lunch session, how amazing it was, kids in rehearsal for the nutcracker tonight, just awesome! London is so fab at Christmas, my heart is full!!!

@BlueLimesdid you live in Oxford too?!

im in awe of all your supplements, I take none!! What do I need for a menopausal, hair thinning, dull skinned woman?!

Turkish sounds lovely @CurlsandCurvesglad you’re feeling better and had a great night.

DGonMJ · 05/12/2025 20:25

Adding my own anniversary story…

I ordered MJ on Dec 18th after seeing a photo of myself next to old school friends for a Xmas dinner that night. We were going on holiday so I didn’t have it delivered till Jan and did my first jab the day I got back on January 5th. Literally first thing I did before unpacking my suitcase. I opened the Juniper package, weighed myself, read the instructions and jabbed.
This was after a year of trying and failing to lose weight, and continuing to gain despite more and more restrictions.
So pleased I did. 21kg lighter. Stronger. Healthier. Better dressed. More confident.

I may have a glass of champers over Xmas.

MJalltheway · 05/12/2025 20:41

I started on 23rd Jan. At the start of 2024, I had signed up to Zoe (thought the expense would make me stick to it!) and learnt a few interesting things about gut microbiology I found the app and plan very difficult to follow and soon gave up. Spent 2024 trying to get up the courage to have a gastric balloon but actually heard about Mounjaro late 2024 and wanted to try that first (I'd previously tried saxenda with no success). Did a wellwoman blood test at the start of January to inspire me. High cholesterol, bordering on fatty liver. Was really shocked at what I was doing to myself. First jab 23rd Jan, weighing 101kg and BMI of around 31. Have not looked back! It's been such an easy process, and the support and companionship on here has been wonderful.

Now almost 30 kilos lighter, BMI 22, fit, healthy. Planning a repeat blood test in Jan to see how far I've come - I did one already in July-ish and my liver function was back to normal and cholesterol down but not quite back in normal range.

@Jins sticky toffee rum...https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/318173095

HeidiLite · 05/12/2025 20:48

I'm certainly stronger and fitter now. And I don't mean fit for my age or any such BS. Fittest I've ever been.

CurlsandCurves · 05/12/2025 21:10

I started on 28th Jan. I’d been lurking on these boards for about 2 months prior. I’ve been trying to lose the weight since my eldest was born and he’s now 20. Tried and tried. Always eaten reasonably healthy, always loved exercise. But just kept losing and gaining the same 10 lb. I’ve a big birthday coming up and last year I decided. I’ve got a year, I’ve got to try this. If it helps me lose 1-2lb a week, I’ll be happy. I’ll give it 6 months, see what happens. This has been like the missing piece of the puzzle and the best decision Ive made ever made for myself and my heath.

cloudjumper · 05/12/2025 21:38

I started on 1 January. I’d been mulling it over for a few weeks, but when the scales jumped to over 100kg, with a BMI of nearly 35, something had to happen. I felt so rubbish, unfit and out of shape, despite going to the gym 4 times a week. What gave me the final kick was that I had developed carpal tunnel syndrome, which absolutely 100% was linked to being so overweight.
My birthday is early January, so it was my present to myself. And boy, am I glad that I went for it!

I’ve lost 30 kg, my BMI is 24(ish), the carpal tunnel syndrome is gone, and I have energy! My fitness is getting better and better, and I’ve got my eye on some specific goals for next year (get back to or over my previous deadlift PB and, possibly, manage a chin-up/pull-up). We also want to do the 3 peaks with the kids next year ⛰️ none of which would have been achievable before mj. I’m actually looking forward to the physical challenges.

HeidiLite · 06/12/2025 07:25

@cloudjumper those sound like fun challenges! And yes not something you would probably contemplate if you were still over 100 kg.

BreezyPeer · 06/12/2025 07:50

Morning 🌄 losers!
I have a lovely day planned today.
A trip to an art exhibition and shopping in our nearest city. Followed by dinner out. This is a date with the local, IRL guy. It's going well and is the reason I have been MIA lately.
Will catch up with you all, I promise, xxx

HeidiLite · 06/12/2025 08:23

ooh exciting @BreezyPeer !

Over there the usual - kids' robotics class, gym for me, then afternoon spent watching one and then another playing basketball. Luckily home matches this weekend so no driving. I think decorating the house, as will have my team over for a little Xmas dinner next weekend.

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 06/12/2025 08:24

Greetings losers. MIA too - sadly work related rather than anything else.

Have a lovely day @BreezyPeer . 😍

Not much happening here, weight unchanged here which is dull but I am plodding on.

End of January start here too with a couple of illness related breaks. I actually bought my first pen in September 2024 but dithered about taking it. I'm 4st down, ideally one more to go. 25% of body weight gone, still more than 2st above my weight BC but I think I'd be happy with another stone off.

We were in York yesterday and went to Bettys for a late lunch as I was starving and that was where we happened to be walking past when I said I was starving - I'm not a fan of Bettys but DS is. I ordered their festive rosti - god it was grim, much too rich. Good news is that I only ate ⅓ of it.

I need to work today, roll on tomorrrow.

meatyryvita · 06/12/2025 08:34

Oooooh @BreezyPeer how lovely! Have a fantastic time.

Lovely to read everyone’s GLP origin stories - what a transformative year it’s been for us all. More importantly, what a fine group of women to have been on this journey with!

Enjoy your weekends, whether decorating your homes, going on hot dates, or pottering. Have fun losers! X

Happy weekend losers!

It’s been a great morning so far. I’ve been brought coffee in bed and I now have the house to myself as DH is off ‘doing his hobby’ and DS2 is off to celebrate his friend's birthday. I’m pretty sure I’ll have it to myself for most of the day so I’m planning an assault on the remaining utility room cupboards, a long hot bath and some sewing. Oh - and avoiding the Xmas fair!

I’m obviously back on track with my prescription constipation meds as yesterday an epic poo was had. Immediately felt lighter and trimmer so was a bit annoyed to find a lb gain when I stepped on the scales. I mean I always seem to gain a pound the day after a jab but on this occasion I felt it was unjustified. I’m weighing every day but I’m not recording daily weights any more.

In an unusual move I’ve treated myself to a couple of Xmas presents. I’m usually very well treated by my family who know what I like and there’s no reason to expect that will be different this year but i wouldn’t expect anyone to think of these and I can’t remember the last time I treated myself to something. So I have a magazine subscription starting in January and an incredibly soft and cuddly throw for tv watching.

Anyway it’s time to be up and starting my day. Enjoy your weekends losers. I’ve loved reading the anniversary stories and completely agree that this has been the most incredible group to be a part of.

Thelittlestranger · 06/12/2025 08:41

I'm enjoying reading the stories too. My husband asked me, in his doped up state immediately after coming out of his op if I was happy with my body (after stating how muscly my legs were!!) While he was clearly still under the influence of general anaesthetic, I realised that my answer would be 'yes.' I am happy with my body now. I'm strong, fit and I can wear what I want. It feels good and has definitely been a transformative year. I hope that this time next year I can say the same thing.

And, thank you all for being on that journey with me

Zempy · 06/12/2025 08:49

Quiet weekend planned here.

I need to retrieve the Christmas tree and decorations from the Cupboard of Doom. Seeing a friend for a quick coffee tomorrow.

I might stay in my pyjamas today!
