Only hubby and a few close friends know I’m on monjuro and twice now my sister has made a joke on messenger about the jab. This recent one was about a friend and he had a lookalike at a event my sister went to and she messaged to say it looks like Simon on Mounjuro 😂

I didn’t reply but it does feel kinda sensitive to me as I know I’m on it and it touched a nerve. I’m my head I’m thinking does she think the jabs are a breeze and you lose weight easy? I can tell you for sure I don’t personally find it a breeze and have struggled and nearly given up due to the symtoms I had in the past.

Does anyone else feel like this when anyone brings the jabs up as a joke ? Is it me being to sensitive? Anyway just wanted to chat to you lovely lot about it xx

Hi @Elliebearbluesonly my DH and 2 work colleague know for me.

my adult DD is very anti so I Daren”t tell her or even drop hints… over Christmas will be interesting as she will be home so I’m going to have to be careful she doesn’t find my stash of pens nor Dh’s.

our friends don’t really make any comments about them so I don’t have to deal with jokes but I know what you mean about feeling sensitive…. DD also hasn’t seen us face to face for a few weeks and the weight loss will be noticeable for me and her Dad …. Will go with we’ve both reduced portions, alcohol and cut out snacks by not buying them…

That might work 🤣

Week 5 run 3 done today in the rain. DH came with me for a steady run and definitely helped me keep going.

The first mile was tough as all up hill but then levelled off and downhill to finish - I ran for 22 minutes rather than 20 as the downhill was so much easier so all good and ready for week 6 👍.

Yay nice work! Smashing through it 😄

I’ve been trying to lose weight for years as has my sister, I’d say my sister, mother, dad and stepmother are all overweight and my sister has tried many times to also lose weight and it’s all gone back on again. But I dunno I feel a bit sensitive about it if you know what I mean. I’ve lost a stone so far it’s very slow coming off and maybe in the future I may tell them but certainly now at the moment. I don’t want to be judged x

StrongLikeMamma · 07/12/2025 18:06

@ElliebearbluesI have only told DH.
He also has a fair amount to lose and is thinking of starting in Jan, after seeing my progress.

I was extremely sceptical about jabs for a long time. I’m not the sort of person who would even take a paracetamol unnecessarily. But I met a couple of people who they had worked for really well and had been reading up on these boards.
After a year and a half of seeing a personal trainer at the gym and eating healthily as I normally do, I decided it was probably worth a try. I’ve been overweight for the last decade at least.

The big hurdle I had to get over in my mind was my extreme sensitivity to all hormonal treatments… the pill, labour induction and HRT have not been great for me. But I actually think my sensitivity has been a bonus here. The suppression is really strong - it’s week 8 tomorrow and am sticking on 2.5.

I don’t want to tell anyone. I don’t need their judgement. I definitely needed to eat less calories and actually logging them on MFP to check how much protein I’m getting has been a revelation. I’m coming in at under 1000 a day and my average loss is 2.5 a week. I don’t think I would have been able to stick to that without the jabs.

But if anyone asks me, I’ll probably say I’ve been cutting my calories, eating loads of protein and training. Which is true. I really don’t think it’s anyone else’s business to be honest.

Clumsykitten · 07/12/2025 21:58

Guys, I’m having a wobbly week. I skipped the jab because I was feeling so lousy with the flu, and now I’ve got my period. I feel like I’ve gone back to the beginning again. I think the best thing is to just go back to 2.5mg and start again from today.

Clumsykitten · 07/12/2025 21:59

Has anyone else had a gap, it’s not actually been a whole week… I just feel anxious about all.

I was also skeptical and to be honest had only heard the horror stories until a few school mothers I know were on it and doing well. I also talked to a few colleagues of my husbands who were on it and decided to go for it. I’m exactly the same re paracetamol and would only take it if I really had no other choice so these jabs are a big thing for me.

Lovesabadboy · 07/12/2025 23:22

Just done jab number 9 this evening and also had my weigh in earlier today and I have now lost 17lbs in 8 weeks.
I had a duff week and hadn't lost anything last Sunday because I had been to a celebration party and eaten more pasta, cheese and trifle than I should have done! 😂It was at the end of the week, so suppression was low!
I am pretty happy with 2lbs (ish) a week and I am still staying on my 2.5mg as it is still working.

Well done everyone and extra well done to you runners!
I am not built for running (my boobs would give me black eyes) but I really admire those of you who are challenging yourselves!

StrongLikeMamma · 08/12/2025 10:08

Oh balls it’s jab day today and am feeling really sick and have my period. Do we think it’s ok to skip a day or should I crack on?

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 08/12/2025 10:35

If you don’t feel up to it, I’m sure you’ll be fine skipping a day- or you could just leave it till bed time?

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 08/12/2025 10:35

hooe you feel better later too!

You can absolutely skip a day - do what feels best for you. One day won't significantly change anything at all meds wise x

jaelato1 · 08/12/2025 17:59

@putthehamsterbackinitscage YES and applaud for running even longer!!! Well done and amazing loss so far as well 👏👏
Currently in week 4 and those 5mins run was not as daunting as I thought

@StrongLikeMamma I echo same advice - skip a day or two until you feel better

Skip if your not feeling 100% it won’t harm xx

So I skipped because I had what I’m pretty sure was the flu, and didn’t want to make things worse. I caught up last night so about 5 days late, but went back down to 2.5mg because I was a bit scared of the side effects. All been fine and back on track with suppression etc today.

Clumsykitten · 08/12/2025 20:10

I was really worried leaving it 12 days between jabs but it was fine.

Meandmypooch · 09/12/2025 16:48

Oh I am it's amazing! if I can hit my Christmas target of 110kg it will be just over 3 stone lost in 3 months!

I'll bet you'll do it! I would like to lose another 3lb by Christmas which will be a stone and a half since 1st nov. I definitely think my losses will slow down now though as will basically be halfway to my final target!

I definitely want to enjoy Christmas a little bit so I will stop counting calories for at least xmas day and boxing day.

I'm the same at the moment every last calorie gets logged 😂but I don't want to miss out on Christmas Dinner, sherry, the odd mice pie! so I'll give the calorie counting a miss for a few days.

Hmm that should be mince pie not a mouse pie! 😂

Moosey898 · 09/12/2025 17:31

So with our PGT work up it looks like I'll get another month on the jabs as we won't be starting IVF until February. I'm going to go for 5mg, hoping to lose another 4kg ish with this next pen.
