Fingers crossed @Seahorsesplendour

Ive only lost 3lbs in the last month. Bit frustrating, but I measured myself again today and have lost another inch off everywhere, so it’s keeping me going!

I don’t usually count calories, just eat clean, but I’ve been logging everything on nutracheck this week as I think my portions are getting huge (I don’t have suppression). I eat a lot of seeds to get my protein up as I’m veggie, and they’re quite high calorie, so I’m trying to cut the amount I have. Im about to go up to 12.5mg. I’ve been taking half doses every 4 days for the past two pens, but I keep forgetting to take them, so it’s m going to try going back to the full dose once a week.

In other news, I’ve had a not great week as our remaining horse has been quite poorly. I thought we were going to have to pts last week, but he’s hanging on. And I’m drowning in mini eggs at the cafe, but have managed to rein myself in!

DBatteryBand · 17/02/2026 06:10

Sorry to hear about the horse, @Gingercar . They are such a worry when not well - for big animals, I always think they are surprisingly fragile. I hope he pulls through.

I am going to go up a dose, too. I've been on 7.5mg for a long time and it really feels like it's not working as well as it used to. My weightloss has slowed right down and my snacking has speeded up, so action must be taken.

More positively, I went for a bra fitting yesterday. I've gone from a 42 band to a 36. Still mysteriously large cup size, despite having only much depleted, sad-looking items to place in there. My favourite part of the process was when the nice woman doing the fitting asked me to put my top on over the new bra to check it looked OK. It was a size 16 top and she said, 'You need a smaller sized top, too.'

I may have preened slightly.

Seahorsesplendour · 17/02/2026 08:58

@Gingercar i remain amazed at your self control!!! Mini eggs are a weakness of mine!!! Sorry to hear about your horse! Hope things improve!!

@DBatteryBand i hear you on the chest front!!! I need to get measured also but the sizes always bemuse me!! 🙈 that is a true preening moment and I’m glad you gloried in it!!! 😍

Gingercar · 17/02/2026 09:46

I need to get measured for a bra. I’ve been wearing big things for ages, and they feel like they’ve no support now. I guess bought a smaller size last week but it’s too tight.

I have a sack of mini eggs! Like the size of two traditional sweet shop jars. And about 40 packs of mini cream eggs and 40 Malteaser bunnies. It’s torture! 😱🤣

Our horse is 23 and gone very arthritic. He’s on painkillers from the vet and has improved a little. We might limp to spring and the warmer weather, which will help, but I think this might be his last winter. He’s been with us 19 years, and I think he will be my last horse, so it’s sad. He’s a nice lad, very friendly.

ElsieJay · 17/02/2026 11:03

Keep us posted on the switch to Wegovy, please, @Seahorsesplendour . Might be a better prospect long term as I try to maintain / maybe lose another half stone.

Sorry to hear about your horse, @Gingercar, sounds like you are doing your very best for him and am sure he’s had a wonderful life with you and your family.
Our elderly cat is on arthritis meds ,and we can see them slowly becoming less effective month on month .
I salute your willpower re mini eggs 🪺!

Spooky, @DBatteryBand - also went for a bra fitting yesterday, and had very similar experience. It’s a great little shop, been a customer for years. The fitter was soooo patient, I must have tried 15 or 16 bras as the brands seem to vary.
Bizarrely , my cup size hasn’t decreased either, but I’ve gone from a 36 band to a 32 in the bra we decided on - Freya Idol, a nude-colour moulded T-shirt one.
I fell in love with a lacy one from Elomi, the fit was perfect but the lace was a visible outline under my top.
Now need to save up to replace my old bras, and buy (at least ) one pretty one with matching knicks !

Megsdaughter · 17/02/2026 11:29

I havn't been on here since about a month after we started, but do read.

I swapped from MJ to Wegovey back in September, and had to go back to the lowest dose. Didnt lose anything till i got up to 1mg, equivilent to 7.5mg which I had been on MJ with. Then started to lose again.

I plot my losses on an app, and find it motivating to see the downward curve of the arc, it also says I am losing 1.8Lbs a week on average.

I started at 19st 13lb and am now at 14st 8.8lb. My dress size was a 26 and now a 18.

Im glad I swapped as Wegovey is a lot more affordable for me. I would have gad to give up MJ, it was just to expensive.

Apprenante · 17/02/2026 13:47

Bras! Nightmare. From what I've read as you go down a bandsize you need to go - usually - up a cup size. So I've just moved from a 34 F to a 32 G. My boob's are still the same size.

I'd recommend going to a really really good fitter. I am going to re-visit Rigby and Peller when I've reliably lost one more pound. Bl**dy expensive but it's going to be my reward.

ElsieJay · 17/02/2026 15:55

@Apprenante - that’s exactly what my fitter yesterday said when she measured me on arrival .
However, it just wasn’t playing out for me, despite all the bras I tried - the size/cup of the one I eventually bought was as much a surprise to her as it was to me!

Apprenante · 17/02/2026 20:01

As i said @ElsieJay - nightmare. Especially as a bra can be comfortable one day, aggravating the next day and back to comfortable the next. And I'm waaaay past hormones so it's not due to that.

If you regret your decision maybe you could do a U-turn? I suppose it depends how spooked you are but if you read proper research you might find reassurance. Whatever you decide - good luck.

DBatteryBand · 21/02/2026 22:34

So, a few days ago I was on here, moaning about weightloss slowing right down. But today I stood on the scales and I've lost 3 pounds. Hooray! However...I'm freaking out a bit. The numbers on scale now start with a 12. I honestly cannot remember when that last happened. I have spent 50 years swathed in a big duvet of fat and now it really, really looks like it's going and I'm having a little panic, like there's nowhere to hide. Things are suddenly taking off at work and I'm going from being the fat lass who slops in three days a week, chats too much and fiddles about a bit doing a spot of work, to being the boss. My lovely DH is completely supportive and has bought me a proper, posh suit (size 14. 14!!!!) but I keep thinking there's been some sort of mistake. I seem to be reinventing myself, by accident, as a capable, slim(mer) person who is in charge of stuff, instead of a fat person who can't even control how many doughnuts she pushes into her mouth. It's freaking me out.

I think I might need a glass of wine. And to lie on the floor breathing into a paper bag.

ElsieJay · 22/02/2026 10:09

Wow, @DBatteryBand - big changes afoot, and some huge milestones achieved in the past few days.
Very happy for you ! 🍾 🥂 💐 xx

Gingercar · 22/02/2026 10:40

Brilliant @DBatteryBand. Really pleased for you.

I am marching along with you. I was 13.0 this morning- hoping to see the 12s in the next day or two. And I’m actually starting to feel good about myself. I too have been engulfed in a wad of fat for years. I haven’t been this size for two decades. And I was cabin crew, so in a world of slim people (I wasn’t quite as massive as I was until the last five years when I left). I’m loving that all clothes look ok on me. I don’t have to try several outfits on trying to find one that doesn’t look awful. One thing about m finding really freaky is my winter coats. Last year they were tight on me, almost difficult to zip up, this year they drown me. I could almost get two of me in them. How could I have been so much bigger?!!

And our horse is looking a little bit better this week. We might limp through to summer, which should be kinder to him.

Apprenante · 22/02/2026 10:54

@DBatteryBand I expect you were always a capable person who was in charge of stuff. It's just easier to exude confidence now.

@Gingercar that's a lovely positive post.

I think I've really reached my maintenance weight. For several weeks I've been between 10st and 10 2 - about the same as i was in my early 20s. Size 12 on a good day. I had thought that 9 7 would be an appropriate goal but now I'm wondering... If I'd not remeasured my height my bmi would be 25, as I'm now 2 inches shorter it's 27.
So my online advisors - shall I accept this as an ok result for an almost 72 year old and slowly titrate down? Or bite the (low calorie) bullet and carry on battling? Cost is a consideration.

Gingercar · 22/02/2026 11:05

@Apprenante how do you feel at this weight? I think I’d be over the moon in your shoes.

Apprenante · 22/02/2026 11:24

I feel slim and frequently surprise myself when I look in the mirror. I've got the 7.5mg pen I'm using at the moment and then 2x 5mg pens which, as I currently inject 3.75 every 9 days should last quite a while. But then I think 'Oh WTF - shall I inject more and lose a bit?' I'm a bit addicted to losing. Aaaarrrgghhhh.

SussexLass87 · 24/02/2026 08:30

Gah I've broken my latest pen. No idea how! Having to use a diabetes syringe to get it out but then not entirely sure I'm getting the correct dose. Fiddly too!

Anyway. Congrats on all your losses - I'm cheering you on from my 15 stone backside 😂🤣

Started a new job this week and know that I really need to focus on eating well to keep my energy and focus up but finding the motivation tricky.

Need to give myself a big kick up the bum and get that motivation back.

Apprenante · 24/02/2026 08:36

If you're taking a whole dose then you need to fill the syringe to the 6 mark.
Disclaimer - Or at least, that's how it works on the syringes I use.

Congratulations on the new job and good luck with settling in to it quickly. 🍀

ElsieJay · 24/02/2026 09:10

@SussexLass87 - wishing you all the very best with the new job. Exciting times !

@Apprenante - know just what you mean , being “addicted to losing “. I’m slightly below my target weight with WW and way back in May could never have dreamed of being this weight at this point in my life - (am a wee bit older than you )
BUT though I feel good , and certainly look much better than I did, I’m reluctant/ terrified to stop the jabs altogether and ponder if it’s worth going for another half a stone.
Pros : Vanity (may as well be honest !) - the “buzz” of losing every week - the extra boost WLI’s give my willpower.
Cons : Cost ( definitely a consideration) - if I lose another 3lbs I’ll need to reset my WW goal weight and might find it even harder to maintain.
So - onwards and downwards ? Or sideways?
Aaaaaargh indeed !!

Gingercar · 24/02/2026 09:28

Congratulations on the new job @SussexLass87

@ElsieJay and @Apprenante why not level off for a month and see how you feel? Wean yourselves off the losing buzz? I think we need a slightly higher goal as we get older (not saying you are old!). Being too thin is not good either. I’m pretty sure my mum wouldn’t have broken her hip falling if she had had more weight on her. I’m not sure I will even get to healthy bmi, but if I am a size 12 or below and not feeling flabby I think that would do for me. (Not a situation I am anywhere near, still at least two more stones to go).

MyScaredCat · 24/02/2026 11:35

I’m having a debate with myself. I’ve put on half a stone and feeling very uncomfortable.
actually went back to med express and have a Wegovy oen in my basket.
but I know I can do this.
Ive a holiday booked in 5 weeks, going to really dig deep and not give in
i can’t get into mindset of thinking ill just order a pen when im struggling

SutekhsEars · 24/02/2026 15:30

I keep thinking about maintaining too - I just want to lose another 2kg... again! I'm barely losing anything at 5mg but don't really want to increase my dose. My focus for spring is going to be strength & fitness, as I lost loads of muscle tone while I was ill this winter.
NSV (we haven't had many of these for a while) I had to get some new PJ bottoms as I was at risk of embarrassing myself!

ElsieJay · 24/02/2026 16:02

@Gingercar - I had such good intentions earlier, thought I’d dose 3.5 from my one remaining pen - and ended up having the full Monty 🙄- as the suppression isn’t as great over the past couple of weeks. But have signed up for the Maintenance plan (Asda online pharmacy )- to keep my options open?
@MyScaredCat - wishing you all the best, am on holiday countdown also. Like you I’m wary of being drawn into “yo-yo jabbing” after years of yo-yo dieting.
@SutekhsEars - great NSV, I love my PJs too. Though still looking forward to summer nights …..

Apprenante · 24/02/2026 19:04

I think I've decided to stay at the weight I am but try to increase my fitness through strength training and walking.

I had a visit to the GP's pharmacist this afternoon (to discuss rourine blood test results) who seemed to think that I was a suitable weight for my age. She said my heart was about 2 years younger than my age and my cardiac risk was 2% lower than a healthy person of my gender/age.

Then she said that I need to take statins but couldn't really explain why .....

I HATE the way that when you're over 70 most medical professionals see you as stupid and in need of improving - preferably through medication.

Sorry for the moan. I'm feeling got at.
