I got the feeling that they like like everyone over 70 on statins. My parents were both pushed that way too at 70. And neither felt good on them either. Did you say no if they didn’t have a decent reason why?

But that aside, it sounds like your weight loss has had a fabulous impact on your general health. And I think that changing focus from weight loss to fitness and exercise is a good plan.

Gingercar · 25/02/2026 22:25

i finally hit the 4 stone mark this week. Haven’t quite made it into the 12 stone digits yet - but am 0.2 of a lb away! I had hoped to get here just after new year, but it’s been so slow. I think I hit the 3 stone mark not long after Halloween! But hey ho. I’m going the right way. Still trying. I keep reminding myself that if you’d asked me this time last year if I fancied being 4 stones and three dress sizes down I’d have snapped your hand off. I just started my first 12.5 pen, but am still ravenous and still eating loads! I have one 12.5, a 15 and a 2.5 pen left after this. I’d love to get another stone and a half off with those (unlikely at this rate!) before I stop using the pens. By then I might be happy, or I might try to do the last stone alone. We’ll see..

HKG · 25/02/2026 23:54

Congrats @Gingercar ! So close to that 4 stone - next week for sure, rooting for you!

and hello everyone! So lovely to see you guys hitting goal! Whoop whoop!

SutekhsEars · 26/02/2026 07:58

Well done @Gingercar ! 4 stone! That's a bag of cement, apparently. 😆

ElsieJay · 26/02/2026 09:55

Great news, @Gingercar !
4 stone goal achieved and a whisker away from the 12 -something bracket . ⭐️
Think we all need to remind ourselves sometimes of how far we’ve come already.

HereIGoOnceMore · 26/02/2026 16:28

Well done @Gingercarwhat an incredible achievement. I agree that looking back we’ve come a very long way. I’m still trying to get my head around the difference to be honest, but I had a very nice time trying on jeans today - it’s a long, long time since I came back from jeans-shopping happy. I think the last time it happened, I was probably pairing them with leg warmers.

Apprenante · 26/02/2026 18:31

Brilliant @Gingercar !

Gingercar · 27/02/2026 00:02

My little dog is getting very slow now she’s 12. I had to carry her 1/4 of a mile the other day. She weighs just over a stone, and felt sooo heavy!

Kbr22 · 27/02/2026 12:38

Hi Everyone, still here and keeping abreast of everyone’s news! @Gingercar you are doing so well, hope you get to your magic number soon, and I don’t think I could carry a dog weighing over a stone 100yrds let a lone 1/4 mile!! I am 2kg of my goal weight. So really pleased but disappointed as I have an apron belly now and not sure what I can do at my age (67)! I get re the jeans, it is lovely to be able to buy a size 12 and when dressed I am relatively happy!! We are lucky we have been able to carry on, it must be awful when you have worked so hard then due to the expense had to come off.

Gingercar · 27/02/2026 13:40

So close @Kbr22!

I got a 12 on the scales today!!

It’s hard, isn’t it, when we have a bit of loose skin. Touch wood, I’ve not got aso far, but can see areas where it may happen in the future. But I hated my fat body much more. Avoided mirrors, going out, swimming… It’s got to be better!

In another half stone I’ll have lost the combined weight of both my dogs! I can barely carry the little one, struggle to pick up the big one on his own, and couldn’t lift both! So it makes me wonder how the heck we lug all the weight around?? No wonder our joints get knackered.

ElsieJay · 27/02/2026 17:53

Very well done, @Kbr22 &@Gingercar !

Not much to report from me, weighed at my WW class earlier (don’t have to have my weight recorded every week now ,but I enjoy going to the group and think it’ll be beneficial to continue ) and was 1.5lbs below target.
Pleasantly surprised as a few naughty things ( biscuits, toasted tea cakes ) seem to have crept back on to the menu …..
Roll on the better weather when the carb cravings subside!

SutekhsEars · 28/02/2026 09:36

Hold the front page!
According to my fancy scales I've lost 1kg this week and MY METABOLIC AGE IS NOW MY ACTUAL AGE! Finally! 😆

HereIGoOnceMore · 28/02/2026 15:33

Whoop whoop! Getting younger by the day.

ElsieJay · 28/02/2026 16:57

I need those Time Travelling fancy scales , Sutekh !

Apprenante · 28/02/2026 17:22

Me too!

Apprenante · 02/03/2026 17:10

Where have you all gone?

I am wearing size 10 👖. I have never ever ever worn such small clothes. I went from an age size - as you do when a child - to a size 12 and then very rapidly to a size 14 ..... and up and up.

I'm really worried though about putting it all back on. I've got enough Mounjaro to keep jabbing until May I think - so long as I stretch out the jabs to 10 days and take gradually smaller amounts. Now I'm reading that we need to stay on a low dose for a year of maintenance. 😫

Gingercar · 02/03/2026 17:21

Oh wow at size 10! 👏👏
I’m still here.
And I won’t be able to stay on it, so I’ll have to rein myself in without it. It was always my plan that I knew I’d still have to tackle my weight at the other end of the journey- but this time I will be tackling it from a healthy point rather than having an absolutely overwhelming amount to lose. Yes I might go up a stone over time, but it’s got to be easier to get off than six or seven stones. I have 3 pens left and two stones to go. 😱

SussexLass87 · 02/03/2026 18:09

Congrats all - that's great news!

I'm still here but starting a new job and haven't much to contribute to the thread. Still plugging away but very far away from where I want to be.

Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine - makes such a difference.

HKG · 02/03/2026 18:16

I’m still here too but lurking as I don’t have much to say. Still chipping away (though gained a little this week 😩).

@Apprenante a size 10!!! Hurrah! I dream of this! Huge congratulations!!!

notgonnafail · 03/03/2026 07:57

Still here too, but lurking in the shadows a bit while we sort and pack up hubby to finally move him to France with me. Am pretty certain weight will not be lost this month while I take advantage of takeaways as can't get anything locally where I am over there, as am in the middle of nowhere! If I can maintain I'll be happy, but need to get focused fully once we get back and get settled.

Congrats @Apprenante on size 10, last time I was size 10 I was 10! What a feeling that must be xx

ElsieJay · 03/03/2026 09:18
Well Done Wow GIF by Pudgy Penguins

@Apprenante - WOW !!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩
That’s brilliant news , very happy and excited for you .
After some dithering, I ordered a 5mg pen yesterday and spookily enough plan to follow the same path as you. A further year is a bit ….. disconcerting, though!

Apprenante · 03/03/2026 15:09

Let me be honest - it's a size 10 in one shop. I suspect if I went elsewhere I'd be a 12.

@ElsieJay i think I might be a bit older than you? I'm trying to maintain at BMI 27 (and 5 ft and half an inch). I'll be 72 in March. I'm sticking to the view that I need a bit extra at my age .....

@SussexLass87 have you actually started the new job now? 🍀🍀🍀

I have! I'm teaching at at alternative provision for students with SEN... it's the unicorn of a job for a parent with my own SEN children.

Term time and fits around my son's taxi from special school - couldn't ask for more.

Weirdly - it's making me eat more regularly as well which is unexpected.

I'm shattered and this dose of MJ has massively put me off food so I'm forcing down some homemade soup (I'm very, very, very lucky that my kids love their food and will wolf down helpings of homemade vegetable soup) x

Apprenante · 03/03/2026 18:47

That sounds great! Enjoy your soup.
My granddaughter is (besides being at university) working for Mencap and loving it. She wants to qualify eventually as an Ed Psych. Her mum and I were both teachers - full disclosure, I was a HT for many years - and have gently tried to dissuade her. It's not working.

ElsieJay · 04/03/2026 17:16

@SussexLass87 - sounds like you’ve found the perfect job ! Congratulations.🥳
Home made soup is great when you can’t really face anything substantial.
@notgonnafail Exciting times for you and your DH , must be a nightmare organising it all though. A few takeaways won’t do much harm and makes life so much easier.
And @Apprenante - nope, I’m older than you - will be 74 in October - and a wee bit taller at 5ft 2. My BMI seems to vary according to what website I look at !

Best wishes to you all as we finally arrive in Spring!
