Thinking of you all who are struggling one way or another. Special thoughts to @Gingercar of course.

Apologies if anything I say is bizarre, my thinking is disordered today. I fell down a whole flight of stairs on Friday night (not drunk, it was when I got up to use the loo). I've been in hospital with concussion. Sadly I have no memory at all of the blue-lighted ambulance, the paramedics or anything else until several hours later.

I will have a couple of interesting scars but as they're on my head no one will see them so no bragging rights. My daughter is finding my goldfish memory hysterically funny but I'm forgiving her as she's being very supportive too. She cleaned the house of all the CSI evidence I'd sprayed around

I have wondered how much worse it would have been pre-Mounjaro. As it is I have no broken bones, just interesting (and b*dy painful) bruises.

Oh my word - this is awful! So glad your daughter is there to look after you xxx

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 19/01/2026 20:06

Gosh @Apprenante! Do you know what caused the fall, you okay in yourself other than bruised and scarred? Since I had the kids I worry a lot about falling down the stairs! And yet I only came close to it when the children were tiny and reflexes kicked in both times. I wonder why it worries me. Daft brain.
So glad you're alright, if a bit out of it. Must have been a heck of a shock.

Gingercar · 19/01/2026 21:41

Oh my goodness @Apprenante! Hope you’re ok.

Im doing ok. Ready for tomorrow. Feeling a bit sadder. Hoping to do her proud.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 19/01/2026 22:13

You will, @Gingercar . Can I offer a mental hug and some kitten pictures? We have four fosters at the moment. It is chaos.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 19/01/2026 22:14

Floofs attached

Cats rule over the dogs at our house.

@Gingercar thinking of you today 💐 sending hugs and strength 💞

@Apprenante ouch!!! Sending you wishes for a speedy recovery 💐

DBatteryBand · 20/01/2026 06:31

Thinking of you today, @Gingercar .

(I need one of those kittens to tuck under my jacket at work so I can have floofy cuddles when meetings get a bit intense. I’m sure no-one would mind.)

SutekhsEars · 20/01/2026 08:06

Thinking of you @Gingercar 💐

ElsieJay · 20/01/2026 09:08

@Gingercar - hope all goes well today.
Of course you’ll do her proud, sweetheart.
Chin up and carry on.
No floofy kittens to send, so please accept a very big hug (( )) instead. xx 💐

@Apprenante - Hug to you too , a gentle one ‘cos of your bruises, you poor love !
Glad your daughter is taking care of you.
@DidILeaveTheGasOn - I really needed those kittens this morning, thank you. Hope they all find their forever homes, but it must be a wrench when they leave .

Apprenante · 20/01/2026 09:12

Thanks for all the good wishes. My brain is still addled but evidently that's normal. I'm writing lots of notes to myself to help me remember .

I hope today is as positive for you as it can be @Gingercar . Big hugs

HereIGoOnceMore · 20/01/2026 18:47

Sending love @Gingercar I hope today was as good as it could be. Flowers

Gosh @Apprenante that sounds scary. I hope you are recovering.

Gingercar · 20/01/2026 18:49

Thank you everyone. I’m home. The day went as well as it could. Actually enjoyed seeing so many people turn out for her and listening to their stories.

And thank you for your support.
(I ate 3 cakes and had a lot of Prosecco too!)

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 20/01/2026 19:09

That sounds nice, @Gingercar, you know what I mean. I'm glad there were lighter moments.

SussexLass87 · 20/01/2026 23:25

Much love to you and raising a glass to your Mum @Gingercar. I'm so glad you got to hear some memories of her.

You deserved all of those cakes 💐

ElsieJay · 21/01/2026 18:43

Glad it all went to plan , @Gingercar - such a mix of emotions, sharing memories and anecdotes, and the overwhelming relief when the day is over .

Kbr22 · 21/01/2026 22:39

Really struggling at the moment, so pleased I can now get into a size 12/14 but I have an awful tummy overhang. I have bought some shapewear, but am struggling to get any swim wear. My bum has gone so small there is an awful gap, at the front, just where no one would want it!

Does anyone know of any tummy control swim wear that would work with this problem?

Also I am so near to my goal, 62 kg but keep going up between 65kg to 66, nothing seems to be working and I am now on 12.5 for the 2nd month. Should I go up or stay at 12.5 and just hope this is a blip. Like I say I should be really happy but I don’t know why but so fustrated at the moment.

@Gingercar I am so pleased everything went well at Mum’s funeral, I still think of my mums with such lovely memories, I know this may seem strange to some people, but it was such a lovely service, with so many people sharing stories and memories of mum that I felt it was so uplifting at the same time missing her so much. These thoughts do help, and I am hoping you will keep these thoughts with you as I have x

Gingercar · 23/01/2026 10:18

Thanks @Kbr22. I kind of feel like that too. It went really well. More people turned up at my 84 year old mum’s funeral than they would do mine! Well over a hundred, and people flew in from abroad and travelled miles - because they loved her so much.. And they all told me lovely stories about her. I read the eulogy and it went down well. I planted up 100 little pots of daffodils with a pic of my mum on the pot for everyone, and people loved them. The local theatre did the wake for free for her because she acted and helped there for many years (obviously I bought the food and drink). But it just felt such a special day, with so much love for her and happy memories being shared. I feel like I came away smiling. She’d been so poorly and not herself for a few years, and it was like remembering my real mum, and how vibrant she was.

Gingercar · 23/01/2026 10:20

Oh and I finally lost a lb this week too! And people at the funeral who hadn’t seen me without a coat for ages suddenly noticed I’d lost quite a bit of weight.

ElsieJay · 23/01/2026 11:06

That’s such a lovely update, @Gingercar.
So many people, coming from all over the place on a cold grey January day to show their love and respect for your Mum .
Hope it was comforting for you and your family .
Love the pots of daffodils, what a wonderful thing to have done and sounds like they were well received .
Bonus 1lb off and lots of compliments too ! xx

ElsieJay · 23/01/2026 11:10

I’ll just leave this here …….

ElsieJay · 23/01/2026 11:24

Lost 2.5lbs this week , an unexpected whoosh which takes me to 9st 8lbs.
At last !!!!!

That’s 2lbs less than my WW goal weight, but I have two more doses in my current 5ml pen so in theory I could lose a bit more.
Apparently as a Gold WW member classes will be free as long as I’m within 5lbs, (either above or below) of 9st 10lbs.
Feeling quite emotional this morning! 🥂🍾

Apprenante · 23/01/2026 15:35

My goal weight is 10 stone which, with my height shortness, gives me a BMI of about 27. At 71 (nearly 72) that will do nicely. So a range of 9 11 to 10 3 is fine with me. This morning I weighed in at 10 stone and half a pound so I'm a happy bunny.

The concussion is definitely improving although there's still a long gap before and after I fell. Little gaps still arising too and I'm writing everything down that I need to remember. My body is covered in bruises but the stitches are coming out on Monday.

I really don't recommend falling down the stairs.

Apprenante · 23/01/2026 15:42

Oh well done @ElsieJay 👑👑👑
