I've just collected my first supply and wondered if anyone wanted to join in with the journey! I'm on 2.5 and I'm 14st1, goal weight is 12 stone as that is my pre baby weight and we'll see how I feel once I've reached it!

any tips on when to take it each week? I'm going to avoid alcohol and even though snacking is my weakness I think purchasing a supply is going to make me stop in a weird way. Any tips gratefully received and if anyone wants to join the journey for support and no judgment here's the place!

The thing is is 3.75 isnt enough and side effects ok you can go up to 5 the week after?

Springbaby2023 · 07/12/2025 09:57

@SexyFrenchDepression True! I guess I’m getting impatient with it because I’m not feeling loads of suppression so in my head I don’t want to ‘waste’ a week at 3.75. These last two weeks I’ve definitely felt pretty much back to normal appetite on days 6/7, though I’m going to shift my doses to Friday moving forwards as I find it easier to eat better during the week than the weekend so I don’t think that’s helping. 3lb a week is amazing, well done you!

SexyFrenchDepression · 07/12/2025 10:01

@Springbaby2023 the alternative is to go to 5mg and go down if its too much? If you're not getting loads of suppression then probably 5mg is ok though, guess it depends how bad your early side effects were also. Lots of people go up each month.

Thank you. I know the loss will plateau at some point. I am trying to enjoy it now and not worry when it doesnt. I am amazed I have managed to eat clean all this time, I have such a sweet tooth and its non existent right now. It has made such a difference.

SexyFrenchDepression · 07/12/2025 10:03

Oh and yes I moved my doses by a day each week from Sat to get to Thurs. I feel like it works well. I then moved from Thurs eve to morning as I woke up feeling like I had a hangover the day after. I think this probably caused my additional nausea mid week 2/week 3. I guess I had no respite. I am considering pushing back a day just for xmas but will see how my side effects are next couple of weeks.

Springbaby2023 · 07/12/2025 10:05

@SexyFrenchDepression I’ve found that too, I don’t have much of a sweet tooth anyway to be fair but any craving for anything remotely sweet has just completely gone. No 2pm sugar craving which means then no sugar crash!

I just need the carb craving to go now 😆

Springbaby2023 · 07/12/2025 10:06

Yeah I’m thinking a Friday dose will work well for me for Christmas too as hopefully a little less suppression and side effects on Christmas Day and Boxing Day then back to it when everything dies down a bit, and no constant grazing of cheese.

Fifiellz · 07/12/2025 10:59

Not sure how to work Xmas as I usually inject on a Monday so pushing it to Friday might be too much. I was going up to 3.75 tomorrow but my weight is coming off again now and I THINK it might be because Im
earing more as the suppression isn’t as high 🤔But then it might just be coming out of that little plateau, so I’m unsure! Will decide in the morning. People are starting to notice now which is amazing and I have 3 pounds to go until I am back in the ten stone bracket which I am absolutely ecstatic about - this is the best thing I have ever done for myself!

TaffyTabby · 07/12/2025 11:21

Yay I was 14st 12 this morning. Now down 10lb in 3.5 weeks. So nice to see that 14!

My suppression has definitely reduced, I have been more hungry and getting cravings again this last week. I ate almost maintenance calories yesterday I think (I don’t really track).

I think I have about a 3mg “golden dose” left to take on Wednesday and then going to take 3.75mg from my 5mg over Christmas and see how that goes. I’d rather be cautious than risk feeling awful with side effects.

I don't seem to crave carbs but I make sure I eat them as I feel so much better having a balance of everything!

SexyFrenchDepression · 07/12/2025 11:31

Well done @Fifiellz and @TaffyTabby

I agree its the best thing I have done for myself for so long. I feel so much happier, just being able to wear clothes where I am not just squeezing into them and trying to hide muffin top with baggy tops or feeling sick from spanx and everything feeling so tight!! Obviously the health benefits too.

@TaffyTabby can I ask re Golden dose. If you have a spare needle do you inject like a normal dose? I’ve read online about some using another needle to extract it?! I think Google is really confusing me!

TheP1per · 07/12/2025 12:13

I took my 5th dose today and am so pleased that I have lost 19lb in weight. I feel so slim and much healthier. In reality, my BMI is still 31 but I feel great.

TaffyTabby · 07/12/2025 12:25

@OhCobblers from my reading, some people are able to force the pen to do the golden dose, but sometimes it breaks so the other option is buy an “insulin needle” online which is a very small sharp disposable needle and syringe, and you can use that to piece the seal of the pen and draw up 0.6ml which is a full dose, or often people can get a bit more than that and do a higher dose. Hope that makes sense. I’ve bought the insulin needles to do it that way.

I work in healthcare so it’s something I’m already familiar with, but I understand lots of people think it’s too much of a faff or worried about getting it wrong, so they don’t bother.

But I hate waste!! 😅

user593 · 07/12/2025 12:43

I’ve lost 6.5lbs this week, bringing my two week total to 17.5lbs. I’m assuming things will continue to slow down, but enjoying the big losses while I have them.

I have my third 2.5mg dose tonight and think I’m going to stick with 2.5mg for another month. Has anyone double dosed 2.5mg if needed though? I’m worried that the suppression might lessen suddenly in that second month and I’m going to need the 5mg.

SexyFrenchDepression · 07/12/2025 13:39

Wow @TheP1per and @user593 they are amazing losses!

@OhCobblers I didnt try the pen as had read the same about it breaking, I have never used an insulin syringe before but found it really easy to do. I only managed to get slightly more than the 0.6ml (0.7ml so about 2.92mg) as i had accidentally wasted some messing up the priming!

RoundandSad · 07/12/2025 18:29

no one else having headaches.

I've read quite a lot of threads about this and it seems like this month cohort is doing better than others who really struggled with side effects some of them

Keeping a track of side effects, looks like days one and two nausea, day three headache, pretty consistently. Definitely worse now I've increased my dose. Not so bad on my fourth dose of 2.5 last week. So I suppose don't go up until I can take a dose without too many issues.

This is the third Sunday in a row i have refused cake so I had to explain to wider family that I'm trying to lose weight. Luckily, nobody said anything about injections. I don't think it would occur to them that I might try this way!

I also understand why people call the weird feeling "hangry without the hunger". I really don't feel great. I seem to be eating more than most people. I couldn't eat much yesterday so obviously I weighed in with an extra pound off this morning but that won't last (I weigh every day too)

I had 4 days and nights of solid headache in week 2 nothing since thankfully. Still on 2.5 and will be until Boxing Day. I’m going to do 3.75 then.

TaffyTabby · 07/12/2025 20:28

I’ve had more headaches but honestly thought it was a cold / the kids- maybe not!

I’ve been getting headaches and extreme tiredness for 2-3 days after each jab, and eating more that most people on here. Due to take jab 4 tonight but I’m going to have to delay to Tuesday as got a 2 day work trip with presentations and early starts.

Cant imagine going up to 5mg with these side effects but 2.5 not really working anymore!

RoundandSad · 07/12/2025 21:54

@KitKate80 sounds like we've had a similar experience did you get nauseous?

You are totally right to delay it. It's such a pain to time it.

I went up to 3.75 because I haven't lost much weight.

@TaffyTabby @TheHappyHedgehog sorry you had it too I am relieved it is the side effect and not just me being weird as all everyone says on here is how pleased they are to be on it and I'm feeling a bit strange

user593 · 07/12/2025 22:03

I’ve ended up with a vicious head cold and fever this evening. Both my DC have just had it so nothing to do with the Mounjaro I’m sure. I was supposed to have my next shot today but I’m going to wait and see how I feel. Quite apart from anything else I don’t have the energy to do it (or eat, so it shouldn’t matter!).

Springbaby2023 · 07/12/2025 22:21

@user593 I was due to take today but feel like I’m coming down with something and DC have both been ill, so have put off until tomorrow. Not worth feeling doubly rough over. Also I think taking it in the day seems to work better for me.

@RoundandSad I had some headaches at the start but they eased. I’m a headache sufferer though in general and weirdly I’ve had less headaches than I do normally since starting, maybe linked it what I’m eating? How have you found 3.75? I’m jabbing tomorrow and torn between 3.75 and 5 as I’ve been a plodder too.

KitKate80 · 07/12/2025 22:38

@RoundandSad not so much nausea actually, but very regular heartburn and indigestion. I’m tempted to stop after jab 4 and start again January , I wonder if trying to keep up with a few Xmas nights out with meals and drinks is making me feel bad, even though I’m not having as much as I used to it’s still not the best choice of food etc

RoundandSad · 07/12/2025 23:40

Sorry for people who've got these winter bugs there is no way I would jab on top of having one of those

@Springbaby2023 I think 3.75 has been just as difficult as any other dose really
More nausea though

I do notice a lot of people saying they feel better on this - I don't have any health issuesin the first place and it's definitely three days of not feeling right. I really hope that goes away as my body gets used to it, but looking at the rise and fall of the how the medication works I can't see it happening

I also get confused with how they say you can take breaks or take it late or early if you need to because actually surely the levels would've dropped off quite a lot I know it's supposed to stay in your system for 30 days, but when you look at the graphs and the peaks and troughs it seems like a delay could potentially make side-effects worse again

Seenthreads on Reddit with people who took it for more than a year and said you just have to accept feeling rough for a couple of days every week I don't know how they stayed on the medication that long if that's what they're tolerating

@KitKate80 so what would your gap be between injections? In terms of food and drink, as well as less, I'm having no alcohol and I thought the advice was not to eat fatty foods because that's more likely to increase chances of feeling ill stomach wise

I take it on Friday so I think can risk having a drink on Christmas Day, which is Thursday.
