Omg yes me too!! I jabbed sunday and haven’t had much suppression 😞

Reginaphalangeeeee · 07/01/2026 12:56

Thanks all for reassurance about approaching best before date.
pen was clear. It’s 5mg so half the strength I am used too and this likely the reason it doesn’t feel that effective right now.

(over Christmas following illness I began split my normal 9mg dose to 5mg every 5 days.)Watching my levels slowly decline in Shotsy is actually helpful and there was no definite hunger return but a gradual day by day increase. This ofcourse not helped by Christmas food abundance, being at home and being cold searching for yummy treats.

Christmas food now gone thank goodness.
i need to titrate back up slowly. Jabbed last night. Thinking Saturday 7mg dose.

Glad to have been able to use the gifted 5mg pen before expiry. It’s added a little complication but mostly because of Christmas eating and split dose. It’s made me really think about weaning off, using lower doses and spreading days out so overall a helpful insight.

in other news… who has tried Marks £Spencer’s nutrient dense range?
I was impressed by Romesco chicken. Is this aimed at people on WLI?

How do you manage with the low level nausea. It’s constant making it difficult to want to eat

I dont get nausea from MJ but I spent a while in hospital with other stuff- nausea featured heavily.
A tip from the staff was to very slowly sip ice cold water. Surprisingly effective for me.

RobinEllacotStrike · 07/01/2026 14:19

super quick HIGH PROTEIN soup - from Insta

Blend a tin of tomatoes with small (200gms or so) tub of cottage cheese.
Heat & season taste - I add pepper & garlic.
You can also add basil or other fresh or dried herbs to taste if you like.

So simple, so fast, so delicious!

I ran out of my pre-prepped soup yesterday so I made this for lunch today - it sits proudly alongside omlette/scrambled eggs in my fast food repertoir.

How do you manage with the low level nausea. It’s constant making it difficult to want to eat

I get this for a few days every week - not so much nausea re food itself, but nausea at the thought of food and the thought of handling food.

I find doing some meal prep so I just have to heat certain meals really helps. I don't have the nausea as such once I start eating. This practice has elevated soup from something I dismissed as "not a meal" to something I really enjoy eating as a meal in itself.

Are you eating refined carbs? I find eating those makes me feel worse than anything else.

YellowStockings · 07/01/2026 15:16

Thanks to those of you who reassured me re: nausea - took first jab Saturday evening, yesterday lunchtime I started feeling a bit better (and had actual lunch, which I couldn't do Sunday / Monday) and finally woke up feeling normal - and hungry - this morning. Trying to eat as healthily as possible, it's weird suddenly feeling hungry after three days of feeling like I could very much take it or leave it. I was feeling nervous about the next dose but now I'm quite excited.

@MooBaggage have a wonderful time on holiday, I can imagine it will feel lovely to be able to really embrace being in all the photos!

TaffyTabby · 07/01/2026 15:46

Wow @MooBaggage what an incredible weight loss, well done! Hope your holiday is glorious.

Aw @RobinEllacotStrike can’t believe you actually had a tabby Taffy! They really stick in your heart, cats. Maybe if I reach my goal I’ll have to get a second cat and call them Taffy. Husband might take some convincing.

I don’t actually track my calories, just my weight on happy scale and my shots on Shotsy.

My friend started on Wegovy at the same time I started on MJ and she’s having great success. Sort of makes me think I should have tried W first to save some £.

Hello @TheSlimmingPumpkin we also have sooo many Jan birthdays in our family. Which means all the cake and chocolate lingers around for longer than just Xmas.

I maintained for a couple weeks over Xmas and then this week I’ve had a whoosh and lost 4lb which feels like a miracle given I have been snacking more than when I first started.

I have to say it’s so useful reading about how those of you who’ve been doing this for a long time are getting on - helps me plan for the future.

coeliacsucks · 07/01/2026 20:31

Can I join 👋 I’ve started wegovy today at the 0.25 dose but managed to loose 5lb since New Year’s Day on my own
i am 5ft 7 and start weight was 129.9kg aiming to loose at least 34kg I’ve never managed before but found out I have a hereditary heart thing it’s not serious but given me the scare I needed.

ShrankLastWinter · 07/01/2026 21:04

Welcome @coeliacsucks! Sounds like you’re really motivated. Keep it going and this time next year you’ll be light and fit! I lost 33kg last year and felt better for every one that went. Good luck!

YellowStockings · 07/01/2026 21:24

Welcome @coeliacsucks and well done on losing so much by yourself in a week. Very impressed, though I'm sorry about the health scare. I'm the same height as you, also just started 0.25 WG (took my first dose at the weekend), and also need to lose at least 30kg, so we can encourage each other.

MooBaggage · 07/01/2026 21:53

Hi @coeliacsucks - and welcome from another coeliac! 👋😊 I also have a bit of a weird heart - I'm definitely feeling tons healthier after losing the weight I have so far, so I hope the same happens for you 🥰

Keep going and keep posting - onwards and downwards!

GiveMeWordGames · 07/01/2026 22:22

Welcome @coeliacsucks , sounds like you have loads to gain from losing, as it were!

@Reginaphalangeeeee those M&S nutrient dense meals are definitely aimed at WLI users. I'm sure I'll end up trying them. And there seem to be some nice-looking cold options. I've got a fair bit of UK long distance train travel for work coming up in the next couple of months - they'll be good for that.

TaffyTabby · 08/01/2026 09:16

I’m hopeful that other shops and restaurants will try to move more toward smaller quality portions of food now that so many people are on WLI.

RobinEllacotStrike · 08/01/2026 10:52

I had to pop into doctors surgery so I weighed on their scales this morning.
Total loss 47.4 kg which is in line with my home scales now they are "fancy".

BUT they measured me 2 cm taller - possibly because my posture has improved with all the yoga not to menton being a lot lighter possibly impacts the spine too - so I am now 175cm not 173cm.

I am frustratingly close to "normal" BMI - just 300 grams away.

For newbies just starting out - please keep the faith in yourself & in this process. When I started on MJ I was optimistic but also I couldn't actually visualise what getting to a healthy weight might look or feel like. Afterall I have been obese & morbildly obese for 40 years or so.

My BMI was 41 and is now 25.

On the weekend I was carrying 2 bags of groceries in - they were really heavy so I weighed them - 25 kilos - just over half of my total loss. It was a big effort to carry them up the stairs. I can't fathom how much extra effort it was to carry around all this excess weight, let alone exercise, dance etc.

InfoSecInTheCity · 08/01/2026 11:28

congratulations @RobinEllacotStrikeyou are doing amazingly!

I was baffling myself the other day with the fact that I weigh less now than I have lost, so I was carrying around a whole extra me and a bit. How the bloody hell was I moving?

RobinEllacotStrike · 08/01/2026 11:54

Thanks @InfoSecInTheCity

WOW - over half your body weight is a lot isn't it - great job. I'm at 62% of my starting weight. its truly life changing.

Our bodies are amazing really.

New goal is 70kg - but I feel like these last 6.5kgs are going to be slow(er).
I started late July 24 - so my average loss is about 2.7 kgs a month. There have been many plateaus during this time but still I reduce slowly & consistantly.

I think the biggest change in my head was at the beginning I was impatient & greedy/eager/desperate for loss, like I have been when starting any weight loss programme. This is a feeling experienced any time I've started a "diet" throughout my life. But on GLP1, once I started to experience the slow steady loss, once I realised this isn't going to be snatched away, I could settle in for the ride, relax & happily maintain a solid steady pace.

GoingDownDown · 08/01/2026 12:15

Afternoon all!

Welcome to the new starters! This has been a great series of threads, lots of sensible people with good advice and experience to share.

I’ve just ordered myself a Wegovy pen. Just can’t afford MJ any more. Lloyds were willing to put me on 2.4mg, but I decided to go down two levels in case side effects hit me. So rather nervous, will I have more side effects, will it do anything? But I have two friends who lost loads on wegovy - and have maintained it for six months and 1 year respectively - so I am hopeful.

Have also spotted the M&S ads. Having more quick and nutritious options is surely a good thing for everyone, so I hope they are tasty!

eleanorwish · 08/01/2026 12:35

Hi everyone, I’m still easing myself back into the healthy eating, we still have a few Christmas goodies left, and it’s DD’s birthday today, so cake and takeaway to come tonight.
I’m currently on 12.5 mg of MJ, but due to go up to 15 a week tomorrow- looking at my recent weight loss stats it’s definitely needed. 3st 7lbs lost since February, 1 st lost in the last 6 months and 3 lbs gained in the last month. It looks like I’ll be taking this for a long time to come.
Definitely going to reset the diet this weekend and start to get fit, I’ve been walking a lot less with the bad weather.

AnneinEdinburgh · 08/01/2026 12:38

Did anyone read the articles on weight re-gain today?

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2026/jan/07/weight-loss-jabs-regain-two-years-health-study

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c050ljnrv2qo

I have to admit to letting out a lot of bad words under my breath. This strikes me as likely to be research on people who don't make any changes and stop dead taking the drugs and have maybe lost quickly over a short period of time like going on a crash diet. I could be wrong of course. I hope that we would all be different. Everyone here is making positive lifestyle changes, losing over a long period of time and not ideally going cold turkey at the end.

I am definitely going to be on some sort of dosage long term I suspect as long as I can afford it. The NHS currently limits Wegovy to 2 years for those eligible. Lets hope when then pill versions eventually arrive and are much cheaper there will be a more long term view of things.

Anyway onwards and downwards and off to eat my lentil soup.

xx

People who stop taking weight-loss jabs regain weight in under two years, study reveals

Analysis finds those who stopped using medication saw weight return four times faster compared with other weight loss plans

I believe the SURMOUNT trial showed that people who were switched to a placebo after a year of MJ, gained weight and lost the metabolic benefits of the drug, even though they were still receiving “lifestyle intervention” support eg guidance about diet etc.

Unfortunately the evidence does seem to suggest the drug will be needed long term in the majority. I guess it’s like treating any other disease, the disease flares again if you stop the treatment.

My friend who has had great success with MJ has maintained her loss for over a year now by just taking a small dose occasionally when she needs to, so I think there could be a middle way.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 08/01/2026 12:57

I’m hopeful that other shops and restaurants will try to move more toward smaller quality portions of food now that so many people are on WLI.

It’s an interesting trend isn’t it.
I remember ‘low fat’ turning up on everything back in the 90’s-the era of special K!
Ofcourse the time when everything became whole meal and seeded with added omega 3’s. The ‘reduced salt and only natural sugars’.
I have enjoyed Marks high protein labels through this weight loss journey but want to choose food that don’t scream to everyone ‘I’m on WLI’.
In that way, hope marking from Marks £Spencer doesn’t pigeon hole me!

I have also tried their nutrient dense crackers now-very nice!

Wondering, how many people in UK are actually on WLI? I know >90% who are, pay privately. Grateful that although a big finacial stretch I can do this. Sad for those desperate who can not. Seems so unfair seeing a sector of the nation have life changing benefits and splashing out on M&S fancy nutrient dense targeted meals.
I do hope this can become more affordable for more

This is interesting and by ‘small amounts when needed’ do you mean not a regular micro dose?

On reflection of Christmas, I suspect I may always need access to this after holidays/Christmas to help me reset as I now recognise I fall into new eating habits and struggle to stop. This will be a lifeline to rescue me

GoingDownDown · 08/01/2026 13:01

I wasn’t particularly surprised by the results around maintenance. I’ve had to leave several Facebook groups because they were full of people really not taking WLI seriously. Existing on crisps, taking such high doses that they barely ate, etc. Maintaining any weight loss is hard, and if you haven’t built yourself any new habits while losing it’s presumably even harder.

The friends I mentioned earlier who have lost and now maintained, fully turned their lives around. Learned to cook, built a new routine with daily exercise, etc.

TaffyTabby · 08/01/2026 13:24

@Reginaphalangeeeee I’ve also felt it is unfair that many people won’t be able to afford to improve their health with WLI. I’m hoping it will become apparent to nhs its cheaper to treat the obesity rather than the consequences. And lots of new GLP coming so hopefully market forces will reduce costs.

Yes so she said she doesn’t take it regularly, but when she has regained a bit due to a holiday or whatever, she takes a dose to help her lose again. She said she still hasn’t had her appetite come back as strong as it was pre WLI but food noise is back. I think she does have to use some discipline but the jab is a fail safe.
