New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All very welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Nothing is off topic and progress photos always welcome, encouraging us all to keep going!

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

Hi all, sorry for silence I’ve been stuck on a stall for about 6 weeks BUT had a momentous NSV today that I know you will appreciate…..

I went for a health-check and they didn’t say a single word about my weight!!!

(They also didn’t note the significant 82lb loss since my last check, but 🤷‍♀️)

Well done! I will admit that at my annual diabetes check, when they said nothing about my weight, I did feign a ‘oh wouldn’t it be interesting’ type tone and ask what my weight was at my last check. I just thought after 30 years of disapproving glances or outright rudeness about how fat I was it would be nice to get an atta girl,

GiveMeWordGames · 27/11/2025 08:16

I'm kind of amazed at the health check silence on the weight loss. We all know friends and colleagues can be wary of saying the wrong thing but you'd think, at a health check...🤔

So, I want to know if anyone else has experienced sore shoulders, for want of a better description. I use a cross body handbag, have done for literally decades. The last couple of months it has ended up absolutely killing me. It's neither big nor stuffed full and heavy yet my shoulder starts to be really painful after a while. I've had to buy an even smaller version with a wide strap which is a bit better.

It's either due to loss of fatty padding or, more worrying, muscle tissue which would be particularly frustrating since most of my weights work is upper body focussed.

RobinEllacotStrike · 27/11/2025 12:03

I bought a dress on Vinted for my work Xmas party - I hit "buy" in a semi dream state just before falling asleep. Its just been delivered and not only does it fit PERFECTLY, it has pockets.

I am very pleased.

Now just waiting on the giant faux fur to be delivered from Vinted too. Attached is my "inspiration" pic - theme is disco. I'm going for Studio 54 mobster glam rather than sequins. I'll be showing a lot less skin than Cher.
I'm enjoying all this new clothes fun. Now I will think about crafting a headpiece (or not).

Some amazing losses everyone - @WeAllHaveWings 130lb is truly impressive.

just the constant wearing of something on one side can affect alingment - think of why its better to wear a backpack on both shoulders, rather than slung over one. Could be that.

could you try wearing it on the other shoulder (it would feel weird).

GiveMeWordGames · 27/11/2025 15:34

@RobinEllacotStrike I did try putting it over my other shoulder (and not only does it feel weird it was surprisingly hard to do, like putting my watch on the wrong wrist 😂) but that side just hurt after a while too. You could be right that it's time for a back pack style bag instead.

RobinEllacotStrike · 27/11/2025 18:11

I can imagine it would feel very odd.

Is it worth looking at your workout? Shoulders are quite complicated creatures.
In my workouts (all yoga based so no weights but lots & lots of shoulder action/planks/etc) the fitter/stronger/lighter I get, the more I am aware of niggles in my body. I'm absolutely feeling much better for it, but funny issues occur all the time.

And this might just be me and not relevant to you, but when I get niggles I often look at anatomy books to see what is going on in the region.

I had a bath last week & discovered my sacrem as it kept bumping on the bottom of the bath - my bum is so "gone daddy gone", that my sacrem needs looking after in the bath. Oh my!

GiveMeWordGames · 27/11/2025 18:38

Yes, I'm at the point where I want to up my workout game anyway, as I'm nearing goal. My neighbour is a PT with a particular focus on weight training in menopause as well so I'd already mentioned to her that I was probably going to come to her (I'm intending to pay her, not expecting to get a freebie but it's super convenient because she has her own little studio, right next door!) . So I can mention this as well. It was going to be my New Year thing.

My bum is totally AWOL. And I was poking around in between my boobs the other day and getting worried by a "lump". Then realised it was my breastbone. Just feelable on the surface for the first time this millenium. 😅

PT for women NEXT DOOR - what lovely magic is this?

PT for women NEXT DOOR - what lovely magic is this?

I know. 😁 She and her husband have lived there for years - they're really nice people and we socialise with them but I've never gone to her as a PT because of embarrassment about my lack of fitness and weight. But now, hell yeah. As I'm not planning to stay on MJ for maintenance I can justify the outlay more as well.

WeAllHaveWings · 27/11/2025 20:53

Note to self - don't buy Häagen-Dazs ice cream in the big tubs just because it is on a great special offer, I am obviously still not a responsible adult and still cannot be trusted with a big tub and a long spoon.

Pralines and Cream - edible crack! It should have a warning label. One minute I am having just a little bit the next I'm looking at the bottom of the tub wondering if it sprung a leak.....🤢💩

17 months in I should know this! 🤔 Stick to the little tubs of joy as occasional treats even if they are more expensive per ml! ffs weighing up the cost per ml of ice cream when injecting medication that has cost me more than my first car! 🙈

A timely pre-Christmas reminder! 'tis the season for joy, not GI regret 🙈

My excuse is I am fed up with being reliant on others, stuck at home not driving or able to walk far because of my fractured ankle trying to do the exercises the physio gave me that just don't work as my foot just won't respond that way no matter how much I want it too! 😩

gimmemounjaro · 27/11/2025 21:06

We have all been there @WeAllHaveWings - mine was a couple of weeks ago and HD dulce de leche. No excuse except just sooo delicious 🫢
It’s what happens next that counts 💪

Evenstar · 27/11/2025 21:10

I went to Matalan for an outfit for a funeral I am going to tomorrow, I found I fitted into some size 18 trousers, they are fairly stretchy, but I was really excited as they are first size 18 trousers I have bought since 2009 ☺️

Evenstar · 27/11/2025 21:14

They were marked as leggings, but they are really thick fabric and not clingy and looked lovely with the boots and top I bought

Zebracat · 27/11/2025 22:50

That’s lovely @Evenstar , it can be hard to see the difference in ones
own body, but clothes are tangible. I keep thinking mine have stretched, Gathered 2 big bags for a charity collection today, so my wardrobes getting lighter too.

Evenstar · 27/11/2025 23:09

I have actually sold the nice brands that I had on EBay and made a lot more than I expected ☺️ pity I keep buying more, as I really still have too much.

Evenstar · 27/11/2025 23:10

Lots gone to charity too!

Today is the completion of my 13th week... and I've lost 1.4kg / 3.1lbs...!
Nearly at 10% loss... 0.34kg / 0.8lbs to go...!

I have no idea how because my sleep and water drinking this week haven't been the greatest. The only thing that is different this week is that I had 10 days off from the gym due to having a steroid injection in my wrist for carpal tunnel. I was back at the gym on Monday (for Power Pump & Fitness Rebounding) and Aqua Aerobics on Tuesday.

Has anyone done Fitness Rebounding before? It was my first time doing it and my legs were already tired from doing squats in Pump, but I gave it a go. I didn't do any of the jumping jacks because I was scared that I wouldn't land back on the little trampoline properly and end up doing myself an injury. I definitely felt it in my core the following day. It was tough but I enjoyed it, so will definitely try it again on Monday... hopefully my legs won't be so tired.

Week 1: -0.7kg / -1.5lbs
Week 2: -1.3kg / -2.9lbs

RobinEllacotStrike · 28/11/2025 10:23

what is this "ice cream" you speaketh of?

A mystery to me 😁

The DC and I all adore ice cream & over the summer DD1 works PT in the local gelato shop - all hand made daily and utterly divine.

We decided a couple of years ago not to have ice cream at home anymore apart from at Xmas. We enjoy a gelato quite regulary in the summer from the gelato shop. I only had about 3 gelatos the last year and I get one scoop in a tub when I do & thoroughly enjoy it. Previously it was ALWAYS 2 scoops plus a cone and quite regualry.

At Xmas we make a luxury salted caramel sauce & a chocolate sauce & we make very decadent sundaes. I get DD's to take leftover sauces to their dads on boxing day.

RobinEllacotStrike · 28/11/2025 10:27

sorry - whole point of above post was to say I can't have ice cream in the house.

WeAllHaveWings · 28/11/2025 11:16

🤣 have I got you all combobulated reminiscing about gelato now!

Absolutely was not worth it! Felt yuck all night.

There is only dh's rum and raisin flavour left in the freezer which I don't like, it is also no longer cheap and I am too tight to pay full price! So all safe now and lesson learned! 🤣

RobinEllacotStrike · 28/11/2025 11:28

It was DD's birthday a couple of weeks ago - I baked a cake, and cupcakes, icing, cream etc. I licked the bowl. I ate the cake - it was delicious. I basically had a day eating mostly refined sugar/carbs - and then I felt truly awful for days afterwards.

Not worth it.

QueenOfHiraeth · 28/11/2025 23:32

@WeAllHaveWings I too am a HD Pralines & Cream addict!
I'd missed your broken ankle, sorry! Hope you are ok. I broke mine some years ago and remember very well the odd sensation of telling my foot to do something and watching bemusedly as it refused! Mine is totally back to normal now, hope yours improves soon

I had an extra stress this week in addition to DM in hospital and other chaos.
I get my MJ from SwiftDoctor who have always been excellent and I plan to stay with them if I ever get to maintenance but this week I was seduced by a Black Friday deal offering 15% off from Ashcroft who I have used before and were always OK.

Ashcroft say order in time for approval by 2pm and they guarantee delivery by 1pm next day so I duly logged into their site and ordered on Sunday evening for Tuesday delivery as I used to. They seem to have a different pharmacist who is very "nitpicky", first queried date of last prescription (delaying supply by 1 day as she posted her query on their site around 12.30 which I didn't see till after 2 as I'm almost permanently in my car these days), then she refused to accept reason order was 2-3 weeks late was due to having had a pen in hand from the time of the price rises as I couldn't send photos of previous labels (I had thrown away all used ones but the most recent which she wouldn't accept). She then insisted they could only supply a reduced dose and sent her message, again on their site rather than directly, at 1.40 with no response by 2pm to my reply, which I sent at 1.45
At that point I rang them and explained that, as a retired prescriber I understood the importance of observing protocols but also understood using professional judgement and patient care so would like a cancellation and full refund as I wasn't able to stay in for a third day. They then suggested that, if I would accept a 12.5 instead of a 15, they would give a partial refund and send it out for the next day. As I'm close to maintenance I can, hopefully, use that soon so I got it but I certainly won't use Ashcroft again despite the price.
I have no problems with any prescriber querying information, that's good practice, but being so uncompromising when so many people have pens in hand and sending query messages so close to their cut off times makes life more difficult than it needs to be

MooBaggage · 29/11/2025 08:23

I'm kind of glad that I'm lactose free (for the past 2 years) and so have to avoid most ice cream these days - although I miss Phish Food..!

2lbs off this week in a mini whoosh, so only 2lbs to go to hit the 6 stone loss - this will obvs now take at least a month 🙄😁

Can I join you all on this journey?

I was always 'slim and healthy', right up to having my first child at 29, then everything went a bit awry from there. Since having my second at 32, I have always been in the obese BMI category. I've tried a few times to lose weight (in fact, I have been on MN weight loss threads in the past), but never stuck at it for more than a few months. I'm 47 now and would like to go into my 50s fitter and healthier than I've been throughout my 30s and 40s, so something has to change for good. As my own efforts haven't worked long-term previously, I have gone down the route of WLI to help keep me on track and stop this yo-yo'ing once and for all.

I started MJ at the end of September, but didn't lose weight or notice an effect on my appetite until moved to 5mg and I am now on week 1 of 7.5mg.

SW: 15st 5.5lb
CW: 13st 13lb
Loss: 20.5lb
Current BMI: 34.6
Target Weight 1: 12st 2lb (overweight BMI)
Target Weight 2: 10st 2lb (healthy BMI)

I'm trying to break my journey down into more achievable little wins; I've hit my first win of being under 14st, so my next is to be under 13st.

I've lurked on a few of the >5stone threads before taking the plunge with WLI myself and reading your stories has been quite inspirational.

UnimaginableWindBird · 29/11/2025 09:55

Oh, good luck, @MooBaggage. 6 stone is my ideal weight loss, so I am very invested in those next 2lb for you!

I've just finished my 12th week on Mounjaro, and it's been life changing. So far I've lost 2 stone, moved from obese to overweight, feel far more confident in the gym, have punched multiple new holes in belts, sleep better, feel better in general, and I saw the reflection of my silhouette in the window when I was closing the curtains the other night and didn't recognise my shape!
