We're all getting there.
Even if it's very slow now.

Welcome back to the thread regulars and hello to anyone who would like to join us.

Ooh there's a very clear difference there @AlicesMum2025

Wow @AlicesMum2025 that's amazing progress in 3 months, you should be very proud of yourself.

I agree about taking regular photos, I've done monthly photos and measurements since day 1, and it really helps to keep me focused when I'm having an off day.

GnomeDePlume · 26/11/2025 21:03

NSV, I have had a few days off and have made myself a shirt and a pair of trousers. Finished the trousers today and fully expected to have to put them aside for a few weeks. Except they fit now! So pleased!

The shirt needs me to lose a touch more weight to be comfortable but I'm really happy about the trousers.

SilenceInside · 26/11/2025 21:09

@AlicesMum2025 you can definitely see a big difference! I'm glad now that I had to take photos for the initial prescription, and later when I changed prescriber, as I have those to compare to and I wouldn't have done so otherwise. Even though it was traumatising at the time.

@GnomeDePlume I'm always impressed by people who can make their own clothes. I wish that I had the time, patience, equipment and skill to do the same. I find sewing machines to be a bit daunting!

MummyInTheNecropolis · 26/11/2025 21:09

Wow, big difference there @AlicesMum2025 well done!

I’ve had a busy week so just catching up now - @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne so sorry to hear about your recent troubles, I’m glad you haven’t lost your sense of humour! Here’s hoping the masturbator makes you a tidy profit 😄.

i didn’t have a goal weight when i started - I’ve been obese my whole life, so no idea what an ideal weight would look like for me, I just kind of thought I’ll know when I get there. I did set small goals along the way, e.g. to get down into the next stone bracket etc. I actually didn’t think I’d ever get to a healthy BMI, and never imagined I’d get below a size 14-16. I’m just half a stone from ‘healthy’ now and my size 12s are getting too big. I’m about to order some clothes in a size 10 😱. I still can’t really believe it. So now my goal is to get to a healthy BMI of just below 25 (currently 26.9)!

MummyInTheNecropolis · 26/11/2025 21:12

Oops I got that wrong, my BMI is now 26.4! Hopefully lower than that when I do my weekly weigh in on Friday 🤞

GnomeDePlume · 26/11/2025 21:53

Really great progress @AlicesMum2025 , well done!

Amazing @MummyInTheNecropolis that is so inspiring.

My GW is one which means I have a healthy BMI. Not because I think BMI is particularly useful but because I want to be able to access healthcare without getting the headtilt 'have you thought about losing weight?' response.

@SilenceInside I started sewing my clothes because the choices for plus size women were so poor. I now sew because I'm a funny shape. Thick waist, narrow hips.

GnomeDePlume · 27/11/2025 07:22

Weigh in and jab day.

SW 137kg BMI 53.5
CW 96.6kg BMI 37.7
GW 63kg BMI 24.6

15 stone 3 lbs.Not sure if that is a 'real' gain or a 'technical' gain. We have new scales which are taking a while to settle down and offered me 3 different weights this morning!

Had a few days of holiday this week. Spent mostly sewing and I have actually eaten less than normal. My sewing room is on the top floor of a 3 storey house so a long way from fridge and food cupboards even if I was tempted, which I wasnt.

I have realised that I need to be feeling good about myself to be able to follow a diet. I need to feel like I'm worth the bother. This is where I have failed in the past. I have had a gain, felt bad about myself and then fallen off the diet.

But the thing I like with mounjaro is that it doesnt care how I feel about myself. It just keeps doing its thing.

TheZingyFish · 26/11/2025 13:47

I don’t have a target weight as have never been happy as an adult with my weight so have no idea where to aim. I know I will never be slim, or a size 10/12 so am just aiming to lose weight until I am happy. I do worry about loose skin and wouldn’t want to be trying to maintain a weight that was too low for me and feel I couldn’t live properly, so if I’m happy at size 16 then I’ll stop there, if it is size 14 or size 18 then so be it. Last time I bought a size 16 was when I was about 16 so this is how far from my comfort zone I am. I have no idea what that might be in terms of weight but I want to feel good about myself and be healthier so that is my target.

This is exactly how I feel, however the slimmer I get the more I think that maybe I'll never be 100% happy. I remember having secondary school trousers in a size 16 so I've never been slim. I'd always thought size 14 would do me I don't want to be chasing a target that isn't maintainable for me

WafflingDreamer · 27/11/2025 10:17

Weigh in number 58
SW 21st 9lb (BMI 44.7)
CW 14st 9lb (BMI 30.0)
GW 12st 9lb (BMI 25.9)

1lb down this week
Losses so far; 4, 1, 5, 1, 3, 4, 2, 2, 2, 4, 1, +3, 5, 1, 3, 2, 4, 3, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1, 3, 3, 1, 1, 0, 2, 3, 1, 2, 2, 0, 1, 3, 1, 1, 2, 3, 1, 3, 1, 0, 1, 1, 2, 2, 0, 1, 1, 1, 0, 0, 0, 2, 1
Total loss 98lbs / 7st 0lb

Down 7 stone, next 2 weight goals are really close together;
1 to have lost 100lb
2 to get under 200lbs, I'm currently 205lbs so hopefully I might be able to achieve that by the end of the year.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 27/11/2025 10:25

Hopefully you'll have achieved the 100lb loss one by Christmas @WafflingDreamer

You're doing well.

My weight didn't drop so I've gained a a bit since last week. Obviously I record every week so I'll give it a couple more weeks in case I have a drop like I did a few weeks ago and it's a new pattern. If not I'll go the GP I suppose and be better fobbed off.

diggitydoo · 27/11/2025 12:55

I’ll be on my third dose tonight and I’ve lost half a stone since starting monjaro.
it’s been ok, but not easy. Have been thinking about food and tracking calories. Have only had two days when I genuinely didn’t feel hungry and didn’t want to eat much.
not that many side effects. Bit of constipation and leg cramps that was sorted with prunes and coconut water . A few headaches (that I might have got anyway).
i do feel abiT joy sucked, although I could have been feeling like that anyway with winter and menopause and what not .
should I be thinking about ordering my next pen? There’s lots of golden dose chat on the November thread. Do any of you do that? What is this all about?

diggitydoo · 27/11/2025 13:01

is there any point in living up to 2.5 mg if I’m losing weight on 2.5?

SilenceInside · 27/11/2025 13:08

Yes, I would think about ordering your next pen soonish, @diggitydoo . The decision is whether to stay on 2.5mg or move up to 5mg. If you are losing weight and feeling the effects of the medication then you might not want to move up.

The "golden" dose is just the leftover medication in the pen after you've used the pen for the 4 normal injections. It is usually enough for another dose, or a bit more, 0.6 to 0.9ml depending on how much came out when priming each time.

To use the leftover medication, you can try to force the locked pen mechanism to make it turn again, then inject as normal. But, I tried this and it worked for the first two pens I had, and then after that the internal mechanisms just totally broke and the pens would not inject. So, like a lot of people, I decided to get syringes and extract the medication manually. I now do that with each pen for a fifth dose. It works well when you are on a stable dose like I am at 10mg for months now, I just inject 0.6ml for a full dose. If you are moving up a dose, then you can inject more to do a step up before starting the next pen. Obviously you have to be happy to handle syringes, work out the dose, and not follow the manufacturer guidelines. Doing a fifth dose from a pen does however fit within the 30 days usage instructions though, as you do injections on day 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29.

diggitydoo · 27/11/2025 14:19

thank you for all the information silence inside, really appreciated x

Billybingbong · 27/11/2025 14:43

Sorry guys, im being a complete misery today, and need a collective shoulder to cry on. Absolutely nothing MJ related, but I'm just feeling very pathetic sorry for myself.

By huge coincidence, both my children have moved out this week. My youngest has just bought his first home with his lovely girlfriend, and has been moving his stuff out today. They are very young, and while I am incredibly proud of him, I was really hoping to have him at home for a few more years yet. And our oldest has just been given a long awaited place in supported accommodation. It is absolutely the perfect place for his needs, but still... I will miss them both dreadfully.

DH is at work, totally oblivious, and looking forward coming home to a quieter house, and im sat here bawling like a baby, its pathetic! Please tell me this bullshit empty nest feeling won't last too long 🫩

SilenceInside · 27/11/2025 14:52

Oh goodness @Billybingbong that’s a lot all happening at once! Not surprised that it’s taken you aback a bit. I don’t have any experience of empty nest yet, but I’m sure it will get better soon.

eibbed999 · 27/11/2025 16:44

Oh poor you @Billybingbong - it's a horrible feeling, I know exactly how you feel! On the one hand you're grateful for them moving on in their lives, but on the other it's just such a dreadful loss. It feels a bit like a bereavement, saying goodbye to a stage of your life that has defined you as a person for so many years. It does get better but it takes time to find new rhythms and for that hole to start to fill. It's one of the ironies that parents become victims of their own success - they have the confidence to leave you! Allow yourself a bit of time to wallow and don't be too hard on yourself x

Motnight · 27/11/2025 17:00

@Billybingbong it's completely understandable. What a good mum you must be though - both your boys being able to move out to their perfect places.

When my DD went to university I cried for 3 days 😬. It was a very strange feeling, almost like I wasn't a mum anymore. But I was - she still needed me but in a different way.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 27/11/2025 17:07

It's an awful feeling of loss @Billybingbong but you've clearly been a very good mum to your boys.
I'm not surprised you're crying.

OP posts:
Iwouldratherbesinging · 27/11/2025 17:21

@Billybingbong I remember those feelings, and yes it’s almost like a bereavement, the house feels so empty and the usual familiar routines all change. It’s hard at first but I love it now, mind you, one of them came back twice!! It makes their visits all the more special, I send them off with a bag of groceries after every visit even if they don’t need anything! It’s not pathetic at all, you’re a mum who dearly loves and misses her boys x

Billybingbong · 27/11/2025 17:53

Thank you so much ladies, I knew you would understand. Mind, it's set me off blubbing again 🙄. I phoned my dear friend this afternoon, and bless her, she's swooped in and is taking me to the pub tonight to wallow in a glass (or maybe a bottle!) of wine. DH is trying to understand, but I've always been the soppy and emotional one of us.

PearlTeapot · 27/11/2025 21:15

Hope the bottle helps, @Billybingbong . I had a year of empty nest in different circumstances after we moved to Scotland and DS at the last minute (literally) refused to come. I was a mess. I had to really lean into a new version of mum hood (he still needed me a lot, but in a different way) and a lot of self care.

Good luck. Be proud of them. And always send them away with cake or groceries!

Billybingbong · 27/11/2025 22:35

I can confirm that the wine did indeed help, hic 😋
