SW on MJ 24st 5lbs (13 Nov 2025)
CW 23st 13lbs
Loss this week 3lbs
Total loss 6lbs

Pleased to have already almost lost half a stone in 3 weeks ! and into the next stone bracket. Dare I set a target? what would be realistic?

SilenceInside · 26/11/2025 12:28

@diggitydoo I set myself a series of smaller targets, 10% of body weight each time, with the last one being my “final” target. I basically ignored the final goal until I reached the penultimate one, as it was too far away at the start to be meaningful, if that makes sense?

Iwouldratherbesinging · 26/11/2025 12:29

I’m aiming for a bmi of around 24 I think, I’d love to aim for a clothes size of 12/14, despite being 11 stone I’m still frustratingly in a size 16/18 with my bmi being 26.6, it’s a bit frustrating and I moan about body shapes and clothing sizes a lot!!

Autumnflowers2 · 26/11/2025 12:32

I never set any weight targets ..I'm very much ,take each day as it comes .
Actually I did set targets of calories..right from the start I set a calorie target and I've never gone over it ,not even once in a year .
But other than that ..I've just told myself it will come of if I keep to the calories

Autumnflowers2 · 26/11/2025 12:33

Maybe I should work out my BMI ..and see what a normal BMI is for me

Autumnflowers2 · 26/11/2025 12:37

I was thinking..
how even though my BMI was very high when I started monjroro,
I didn't qualify on NHS for it ,
because I didn't have 4 other things wrong with me .
So how high would it have to be for someone to qualify...
or is it you have to have things wrong as well.
Makes me think that the criteria is so narrow to get the help on NHS ,Id be interested to see just how many people they are prescribing them to ...it can't be many with such a strict criteria

Billybingbong · 26/11/2025 12:42

WafflingDreamer · 26/11/2025 10:05

How are you picking your target? Is everyone chosing to aim for a BMI of 25? I'm not sure that's going to be realistic for me especially in the long term as I don't want to stay on WLI forever

I've got no idea what my ideal goal weight is, as I can't remember ever being there. I've set it at 11st 4lb, which is exactly half of my starting weight, but that will still see me at 28BMI, so I'll probably change it later down the line.

I was obese class III, with diabetes, regular high blood pressure, and on statins, and I still didn’t get it on the NHS. I suppose it varies across different areas and trusts, but it was disappointing that having 8-11 stone to lose with other qualifying conditions still didn’t mean anything.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 26/11/2025 13:09

Well done @diggitydoo that's a great start.

Do set yourself mini goals.
It's a mistake, I think, to decide "Right, I'm aiming for 9st 4lb" or whatever.

I always aimed for the next stone bracket down, and saw each one as a big achievement.

OP posts:
diggitydoo · 26/11/2025 13:32

I think I’m going to aim for a ten percent weight loss by February 18th . (I have a gig then)

so that’ll be 22 stones

so 2 stones off by Feb 18th (12 weeks) ? Does that sound realistic? Or too much?

Iwouldratherbesinging · 26/11/2025 13:37

I always set mini goals @diggitydoo, the first major goal to hit was actually appearing on the nhs bmi chart, many of us have had celebrations when we hit that! Don’t set yourself goals that seem out of reach.

TheZingyFish · 26/11/2025 13:47

I don’t have a target weight as have never been happy as an adult with my weight so have no idea where to aim. I know I will never be slim, or a size 10/12 so am just aiming to lose weight until I am happy. I do worry about loose skin and wouldn’t want to be trying to maintain a weight that was too low for me and feel I couldn’t live properly, so if I’m happy at size 16 then I’ll stop there, if it is size 14 or size 18 then so be it. Last time I bought a size 16 was when I was about 16 so this is how far from my comfort zone I am. I have no idea what that might be in terms of weight but I want to feel good about myself and be healthier so that is my target.

SilenceInside · 26/11/2025 14:02

@diggitydoo I actually never set a time limit on achieving each goal, as weight loss can be so variable. In 12 weeks, at 1 to 2 pounds a week you could be looking at 12 to 24 pounds down. So 2 stone might be possible, but it might take a few more weeks than you'd like.

Exactly..who is getting it on NHS ..

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 26/11/2025 14:42

The NHS criteria are national (although some areas may not even offer it to people who do meet the criteria) and you have to have the four qualifying conditions. There are clear plans for rolling it out further over the next few years - for instance from next spring you will only need three qualifying conditions. But yes, there will be very few people who qualify on the NHS for weight loss rather than diabetes. Partly that's because the NHS would need to show that they are properly managing the patients with regular follow ups and support rather than just prescribing and leaving people to it like a lot of the online prescribers, and there just isn't the resource to set up clinics for the massive amount of people who would want to take it up.

SilenceInside · 26/11/2025 14:45

The restrictions for NHS access to Mounjaro directly via GPs/local services were always going to be quite tight given the sheer number of people who would qualify for it if based on the MHRA criteria. Between a quarter and a third of the adult population in England is obese depending on region, plus all the people who are overweight (BMI 27 plus) with a weight related health condition. That's a lot of people! So, it's rationed and they have to make a judgement on what they can afford and also deliver that will benefit people the most.

My target is to way less than my partner. I was two pounds away and then he gave up sugar and lost ten pounds in a week. So now.o.javr about 12. Pounds to go. Not sure what BMI that will be he is 22 so I guess about 24 as I am a bit shorter than him

Exactly..who is getting it on NHS ..

well me for one, but my GP surgery had a change in nurses, one left who was looking after me and decided I could have it due to my diabetes, then I had to ring the surgery and remind them I was still taking it. So my surgery wasn't great at realising I needed to get another nurse to monitor me. I am also obese and have blood pressure controlled by medication.

GnomeDePlume · 26/11/2025 16:55

Autumnflowers2 · 26/11/2025 14:34

Exactly..who is getting it on NHS ..

Me. Also DD (though she has now come off it).

Both diabetic, me T2, her 'type unspecified'. Both very overweight with increasing diabetes problems.

Alonside diabetes I have an autoimmune blood disorder, knackered thyroid (autoimmune), high colesterol. But really I am blessed with having had an excellent diabetes nurse and a GP who just prescribes what he is told.

I havent seen the diabetes nurse in over a year. Had a couple of phone check ins, that's all. But that works for me.

TBH my GP surgery is monumentally crap. I'm not actually sure there is a GP, not seen one in several years despite a couple of 2WW cancer referrals. I have my suspicions there is just an AI bot with a printer.

Autumnflowers2 · 26/11/2025 17:09

I'm glad some people are getting it
My friend meets the criteria but her doctor says they aren't providing it ..no idea why ..money I think ..I thought it was being rolled out through out UK.
Maybe it just takes time

SilenceInside · 26/11/2025 17:31

T2 diabetics can access Mounjaro via the NHS if their blood sugars are not well controlled by other medications, but the focus is meant to be on blood sugar stabilisation rather than weight loss.

The rollout of Mounjaro for weight loss via GPs/local services is planned for 12 years, in several stages. But it depends on each local NHS area having the capacity to actually deliver it, and many areas aren't able to organise it even though they are supposed to be rolling it out. Might be down to funding, logistics of managing appointments and follow ups, or issues around contracts, or all of those.

PearlTeapot · 26/11/2025 19:21

@diggitydoo well done!

I had non weight related goals at first.

-to walk 30 mins without stopping
-to get my wedding rings back on
-to get off the floor without using my hands
-to put my socks on standing up

Etc. Now 6 stone later my goals are weight related. I want to get under 100lb loss, I want to be under 100kg, I really want to be 14 stone as that's what I was when pregnant with DS 15 years ago and just blew up year on year. I also want to swim for 30 mins without stopping (got to 27, will have lost that stamina now after 6 weeks in hospital) and also consistently walk 1 hour without stopping, which again I could do but will need to build back up.

52soon · 26/11/2025 19:34

I get it on NHS for type 2 diabetes but would have also qualified with 4 conditions, I’m no longer on diabetic medication in addition to jabs, as normal HBA1C, my blood pressure is normal and hopefully be off meds for that soon, sleep apnea better and hope to come off c-pap machine at next review in December and I never took the statins that were prescribed. I’ve not had huge weight loss that a lot of people have had but my health issues are almost gone. Losing 1lb a week is my normal loss 2st 9lbs down since mid April so I’ll take that.

Novjaro · 26/11/2025 19:34

I don’t really have a goal either, am just seeing how far I can go. I also think for some of us, myself included, a healthy bmi might be really hard to achieve with lots of loose skin etc. That’s my excuse anyway!

My next goal will be to get under 100kg - I’m about 103.5 at the moment. And as @PearlTeapot says, losing 100lb will be a huge goal. I’d love to be able to get up off the floor without using hands but I’m not sure I’ll ever achieve that!

Great news re the masturbator @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne ! I’m also too scared to google it but imagine it’s some sort of grabbing and pulling device 😆. I guess someone’s going to get lucky at Christmas, and it won’t be your ex!

Thanks everyone for welcoming me to this thread 🤗

AlicesMum2025 · 26/11/2025 19:44

I've decided to be brave and post a progress photo. I have been struggling to see a difference in my body so dug out my day one gym selfie from 4th August and tried to take a matching one this morning. I started MJ on 2nd May, so it's been almost 8 months to lose 5.5 stones (77lb / 35kg).

Having finally put the photos right next to each other and zoomed them to be the same size, now I can see a change. Moral of the story - take progress photos, even if they're hideous (my pre-MJ ones will never see the light of day though)
