We're all getting there.
Even if it's very slow now.

Welcome back to the thread regulars and hello to anyone who would like to join us.

@PearlTeapot I think maybe wait till you get home and can be more active before changing your dose, if you need to. If the scales are staying the same or moving down a bit then I think that's a win for you at the moment.

SilenceInside · 20/11/2025 17:22

@Isobel201 a "loading" dose is an initial high dose of a medication to rapidly increase the amount of that medication in your system, before moving onto a lower dose to continue treatment. 2.5mg of Mounjaro is not a loading dose, it is the treatment initiation dose that is not meant to be therapeutic for the majority.

PearlTeapot has been on Mounjaro for several months now, and is back down to 2.5mg from higher doses.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 20/11/2025 17:59

PearlTeapot · 20/11/2025 16:38

I really feel 2.5 isn't doing much for me anymore- obviously I've had 6 weeks sat in a bedroom not moving and living on sandwiches and snacking, but also the scales have barely moved (down about 3lb I think)?. Unsure whether to slooooowly move upwards (maybe 5 extra clicks- which from my 5mg pens would be about 3mg I think?) or just wait til I go home and get active again and see.

@mamabeeboo amazing difference, you must be thrilled but hearing your confidence is boosted is the best bit. Onwards and downwards!

For me it would depend on whether you feel that you are making worse food choices because the MJ isn't working, or if you are struggling to lose weight because your food choices are restricted by your circumstances. I'm feeling it's probably the latter, in which case increasing your dose would only make you less inclined to eat anything at all which would have an impact on your overall nutrition and wellbeing. If you think you would make different food choices with a higher dose then go for it, but otherwise I'd wait until you are better and home and just take maintenance as a win for now.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 20/11/2025 18:27

@PearlTeapot I'd be very cautious about taking a higher dose while you're still in the hospital.

You had so many side effects before.
Wait till you're back at home before you start changing doses gradually.

BTW a loss of 3lb in six weeks is fine. Nobody can expect the rate of loss that they had in the beginning to continue. You've had very limited food choices where you are, and eaten lots of carbs, and you're still losing weight.

If you take a higher dose and end up with severe diarrhoea and vomiting, they might decide not to let you carry on with the MJ (not being aware that this can be expected in many patients).

Don't take the risk, is my advice.

How much longer are you on your section? And have you managed to see your wife?

@mamabeeboo what amazing progress! My start weight was similar to yours so I am hopeful that my stomach may also shrink like yours has with a couple more stone!

@PearlTeapot i also probably wouldn’t change the dose till you are home, it sounds like the limiting factor is more the food choices and freedom to exercise. Plus you’d probably want more privacy to deal with any side effects, I seem to remember before you suffered a bit heading up to 5mg?

Iwouldratherbesinging · 20/11/2025 20:20

@mamabeeboo what a difference! You look fantastic and your waist is amazing 🤩

@PearlTeapot I’m in the same camp as the others and wouldn’t risk the potential side effects, you’re battling a lot at the moment and you don’t want to add to that lovely x

MummyInTheNecropolis · 21/11/2025 05:56

Well done @mamabeeboo what a difference!

@PearlTeapot I think it’s amazing you’ve lost anything at all with all that’s been going on! Well done for keeping on in such difficult circumstances. I don’t have any advice on moving up really but would listen to the wise voices on here if I were you!

I’ve lost another 3lbs this week, my BMI is now 26.4, so tantalisingly close to ‘healthy’! Would so love to get there before Christmas 🤞.

Billybingbong · 21/11/2025 10:10

Morning all, hope youve all had great week, and haven't been hit too much by the snow. Yesterday was dreadful here, chaos on the roads, schools shut, me and DH both had to work from home, it was bonkers. Nice and sunny today though, so hopefully the snow & ice will melt soon enough.

It's weigh day again, gosh, don't the weeks fly past quickly. Week 31, and another 1lb off, total 5st 6lb so far. The losses have slowed right down just now, which i think is probably a mix of less exercise and a more 'winter' diet. I spent all summer on salads and light stuff, and its taking a while to adjust. But hey ho, a loss is a loss. I was hoping to see 6st by Christmas, but I'm not too bothered if not. It will happen soon enough.

I went shopping the other day for a new outfit for my work Christmas do. I didn't find anything, but had such fun trying clothes on in 'normal' shops. This time last year, I was buying size 26/28, from wherever I could find online. Now, I am in actual high street shops, fitting comfortably into size 18's. Nobody can describe that feeling. (I wasn't too impressed with the prices though, I think I've got too used to Vinted!).

The only problem is, I'm a bit clueless when it comes to fashion these days. I am so used to wearing something just because it fits, that all this sudden choice is a bit overwhelming. The last time I was this size, I was 20 years younger. What do mid 50's women wear these days?? I am definitely booking a personal stylist session when I reach my target!

SW 22st 8lb
CW 17st 2lb
GW 12st 4lb

Have a great week everyone

TheZingyFish · 21/11/2025 10:11

My weight seems to be bouncing in a downward trend which seems a little strange since I e been on MJ. I seem to gaining and then losing a bigger amount so the overall trend is still downwards but this seems a big departure from the first six months where I think I only gained a half pound once and lost every other week.

Has anyone else found this? I’m not massively worried as overall the trend is still downwards but is just a different pattern to what I have been experiencing.

Lds1 · 21/11/2025 12:31

mamabeeboo · 20/11/2025 12:52

@Lds1 I'm sorry you're going through a bit of a slump. Talk me through your fasting, what are you eating and when? And what are you having outside of these hours?
There's something going wrong if you're fasting and the weight still isn't coming off, because surely what is the body using to stay alive 😳

You would have thought so wouldn't you, during the day back coffee and water, dinner at approx 5:30 chicken breast with some spice rub, vegetables, 2/3 potatoes, fruit.

On a weekend I will have something different but within 1200 calories.

PearlTeapot · 21/11/2025 12:35

Thanks everyone for all of the advice, I will listen and stay put on my dosage and just wait til I go home and get moving and eating my normal foods again 💖

Billybingbong · 21/11/2025 12:40

@PearlTeapot how are you getting on Pearl? I've not been around much, and am still catching up on pages of updates, but you've been in my thoughts. Hope you're doing OK x

EverybodysALebowski · 21/11/2025 13:03

Harumph. Not much movement so have decided to go up slightly, to 5.5. I know it's work stress and I'm at least not bingeing as I would have previously. But I have had a few days where I found myself munching mindlessly, especially now that holiday treats are turning up.

I also need to get back to the gym, especially now my back and knees and stamina are all in better shape. Maybe I'll try to sign up for when work slows a bit in 2-3 weeks, so I've got the habit back before all the 'New Year New You' people show up.

wishing you all lots of warmth, now that we are all losing our previous built-in bodily insulation and the cold weather has set in! I'm very glad right now to have lots of handknit wool socks.

WafflingDreamer · 21/11/2025 13:40

I am so pleased that I have lost 1lb under 7st but my gosh I miss being warm. I really don't want to have the heating on constantly, I probably need to invest in a heated blanket. I debated it so much last winter then it got warmer and I wasnt always so cold. It's 2° outside I have leggings under my jeans a vest a t shirt a hoodie and an oversized cardi and I'm wearing my winter slipper boots!! My hands are freezing all the time and I get cold to the bones when I just can't get warm. 2 of my 3 kids play football and I couldn't stop shaking on Monday night at their match I was so cold and I had to many layers and thermal gloves and hat and hand warmers. I wouldn't go back to over 20st but I do miss being warm!

Iwouldratherbesinging · 21/11/2025 14:01

Just empathising with all the cold people, this really does take some getting used to! We were singing Christmas carols last night with the Christmas light switch on, I had a thermal vest, a thick jumper and another poncho type jumper over the top then a thick coat, two pairs of gloves and two pairs of socks and was still freezing, got soaked through with the sleet which probably didn’t help, god knows how we’ll feel when it’s even colder! Can highly recommend a heated blanket, I sit with it wrapped around me while working but my hands are still icy 🥶

Billybingbong · 21/11/2025 14:08

@WafflingDreamer Oh my, the cold, yes I totally agree. I simply cannot warm up, so much so, my DH asked me if I was coming down with something the other day. No love, I'm not ill, just carrying a few less layers that I used to 🤣

Iwouldratherbesinging · 21/11/2025 14:10

@Lds1 that sounds really frustrating for you, pre Mounjaro I could only really maintain weight most weeks by fasting but that was because I was over eating on my non-fast days but it doesn’t sound like that’s what happening to you. Fasting does make constipation worse for me and that affects weight, are you drinking and sleeping enough? How long or how many days are you fasting for? Too many can slow your metabolism due to calorie restriction, our bodies are so unique which can be frustrating sometimes as what works for one doesn't work for another.

PearlTeapot · 21/11/2025 14:15

I've always been a cold person even at my fattest, so my electric blanket is my most beloved item 😄fully recommend!

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I'm on a section 3 now (6 months) but with the goal to get home mid Dec if all goes well. I haven't seen my wife as she's back in Scotland with DC and the dogs and it's too expensive to organise a visit. Thank goodness for FaceTime.

Thanks everyone. I'm doing ok. It's up and down. I haven't been outside for a week but tomorrow I'm going to bundle up warm and walk outside and try aim for 45 mins and see if I can get myself to that point, feel like I've totally lost my stamina and hard work. It's boring walking around the gardens though but I've got my audiobook which is enjoyable.

Just wondering if anyone has the same experience as me with what days suppression is strongest - I jab on a Thurs evening and the days I really feel MJ working and with the most suppression are nearly always Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, so days 5, 6 and 7. Everything I've seen from others suggests they feel most suppression at the start of their week and this often wears off towards day 6 and 7. Does anyone else have highest suppression at the end of their weeks?!

I jab on Thursday mornings, so supression is strongest on Friday and the weekend. Then I get a slow gradual return on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Janie934 · 21/11/2025 15:08

Two NSVs for me today.

Firstly I finally had the mri that I've been putting off after the last one I had I barely fitted in the machine....and to do they had to remove some cushions. I'm over 5 stone down from the weight I was then and im happy to report that it all went smoothly and my size wasn't an issue.

Afterwards I popped into m&s for some socks and decided to browse the sale section and came across a lovely dress that'll be perfect for my holiday in February. It was a size 16 and it fits!!!

I've had a few size 16 tops from the likes of Yours, but I don't count those a true 16s as its a plus size retailer.

Im hoping to reach 16st 9pounds before Christmas which will get me to a total loss of 10st since July 2024.

Billybingbong · 21/11/2025 15:21

My supressions was always strongest on days 2-3, but just lately, I've noticed it's quite high on days 5 or 6. It's always there, but definitely stronger later in the week.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 21/11/2025 15:30

@Janie934 it might be too big for you come February 😉 Good news about the mri!

That was my only concern, but i didnt see any 14s (and to be fair I struggle to accept that the body i see in the mirror is a 16 so the thought of reaching a 14 or 12 is mind blowing)

TragicMuse · 21/11/2025 17:07

I had a 24 hour nearly-fast yesterday. Sort of unplanned I just couldn’t be arsed with food so had drinks but no actual solids, and much weeing. Choosing something in the evening was a trial! Had plenty of liquids though.

I also had excellent bowels yesterday.

Today? Optimism high, I hop on the scales. A fucking gain! What is that all about?!

Will it show up tomorrow? Or was it waste of time?

FFS BODY! Unimpressed.
