@Reginaphalangeeeee im always ‘silently measuring myself against strangers’, I used to feel relieved if there was someone bigger than me and then feel ashamed for feeling that way, even now I’m constantly comparing myself and wish I could figure out how to stop, now there’s that feeling of being too vain, walking past a window and looking at my reflection and being shocked that I look like that, always glancing at myself in a full length mirror, wanting to see myself in photos… gawd I sound a bit deranged

Iwouldratherbesinging · 17/11/2025 18:27

I’m having an issue with reading glasses and vdu glasses at the moment, every time I put my head down they fall off, I’m not due new specs for another 6 months or so, I’ve managed to bend the arms in one one pair but can’t on the others, might have to try wrapping some rubber bands round them!
Ive also got a beautiful 22ct gold bangle that was made for me about 10 years ago in Saudi, and it’s dangerously loose on me now, same with my engagement ring, this weight loss malarkey is getting expensive!

This happened to me when I lost a lot of weight years ago. My glasses wouldn't stay on! I went to the optician and they were able to adjust them within seconds and free of charge. It may be worth popping in and asking of yours can have a go.
I hope I have that problem again sometime next year perhaps.

I bought some ring adjusters on amazon for under a fiver. They're bits of plastic that wrap round rings. It means I can still wear my wedding and engagement rings as I still have a lot of weight to lose so don't want to have them resized yet.

was anyone around 24 stone when they started? How many calories a day did you eat to begin with? My first week this week. I’ve been eating pretty normally, just paying attention to portion size and not snacking. Today was about 1800, because my fitness pal told me 2000 was a deficit for me. Had cereal yoghurt and nuts and boiled egg for breakfast. Lentil soup and salad roll for lunch. Beef casserole for dinner. But I just weighed myself and I’ve actually put on weight this week :-( wtf?

I was 25st9 in March (25) and I've kept to 1600 the whole time. I also keep track of my macros and aim for 140g protein a day. In 8 months I'm down 6st8.

How are you recording/counting the calories? Your food for the day sounds more than 1800 but I suppose it depends on the portion sizes!

diggitydoo · 18/11/2025 06:36

It was what I thought were small portions. Am I that deluded?

literally a handful of special k. A couple of walnuts. Two desert spoons of yoghurt. An apple.

small mug of soup ( like 2/3 size of normal mug) . Homemade carrot and lentil. normal size roll

half a plate of beef casserole. Containing veg, gravy, two ping pong ball size potatoes. Maybe 8 small chunks beef ? ( was a 400g packet split between 4)

had awful leg cramps overnight and this morning struggling to poo. Must be doing it wrong :-(

I started at 21 stone 8 lbs. Now 15 stone after a year on mounjaro. A typical weekday for me looks like:

breakfast - 45g all bran plus 150 ml semi-skimmed milk, 2 psyllium husk capsules = 250cal
lunch - 2 slices high grain bread, 2 slices cooked meat, ultra low cal mayo, as much salad as I can cram in = 400cal
snack - 2 clemantines = 100cal
dinner - salmon fillet, half head of broccoli, 100g cooked rice = 400cal

Through the day I will have a couple of cups of white coffee and otherwise calorie free drinks

Total = 1250

Typing out the above is the first time I have counted any calories at all.

Weekends are different, I dont eat breakfast and will have a bigger lunch and dinner.

The big changes for me on mounjaro have been reducing my carb intake, reducing portion size, increasing fibre.

I was put on mounjaro for diabetes. At my most recent blood tests my blood sugar was in the normal range.

eibbed999 · 18/11/2025 06:56

Hi everyone - I've not posted got a while cos I've had a horrible flu like thing that's floored me. Just catching up on all your posts. In the meantime, I've discovered one of the downsides of the weight loss - something we've termed Skinny Arse Syndrome in my house! I'm over 17 stone still so my arse is far from skinny, but it's deffo a lot less padded now, and I'm finding it quite uncomfortable to sit for long periods of time! My work is laptop based so I don't have much choice. Think I'm going to have to find a nice bum cushion!

GnomeDePlume · 18/11/2025 07:17

@eibbed999 yes, boney arse syndrome is a thing. I now have a wheelchair cushion on my office chair. As time has moved on I have found it less of a problem but definitely tried out a number of cushions before I hit the right one.

SilenceInside · 18/11/2025 07:33

@diggitydoo am I right in thinking that it hasn't been a week yet since your first injection? You're not "doing it wrong" it's just early days and as hard as it is I would try to trust the process. You won't have actually gained weight, as in gained actual fat. It will be normal fluctuations, scale inaccuracies etc etc.

In terms of food, I would try to increase protein, increase fibre and decrease carbs. Drink lots of water and you could consider trying psyllium husk if constipation is an issue. Also, if you like them, kiwi fruit are good for that too. If you can eat the skin it's meant to be even better. I get the gold kiwi rather than the green as I find them too sour.

@Iwouldratherbesinging my DH bought me 2 new rings to put on top of one of other rings when it got too big. I highly recommend this solution 😬

This! Plus (and I know that this won't work for everyone) I weigh myself every day. The fluctuations are crazy - 2 lbs or more either way within 24 hours.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 18/11/2025 08:17

Thanks @Janie934 and @PositiveAttitude, off to browse Amazon and visit specsavers in the next couple of days.

weigh day for me today, only 0.2 of a lb off, lowest ever recorded loss for me! But I did have a small Chinese over the weekend that was totally worth it

SW - 21st 7 lbs (136.5 kg) - this is when I properly started trying to lose weight (again) jan 2024.
SW on MJ - 19st 2.9 lbs (121.9 kg)
CW - 11 st 2.9 lbs (71.1 kg)

total lost - 8st exactly on MJ, 10st 4.1 lost overall!

GW - currently I’m aiming for 10st 4lbs but that would only just see me into the healthy weight range by a pound and I really want to have some sort of buffer, but to dream of being 9 stone something seems so far away, yet in reality it’s only a little more than a stone!

I think I’m getting that dopamine hit every week when the scale goes down, chasing the numbers. I’ll need to figure out how to replace that at some point, there’s a little way to go yet but the scales have ruled me for so long that the thought of having to stay at a specific weight feels quite daunting, the next step of this journey I suppose…

RonMJ · 18/11/2025 08:18

@diggitydoo I’ve been a daily weighed since the start, and after about three days I’d gained weight too, but as MJ slows the transit of food through your body, and you’ve got constipation, it’s probably just you’ve got more food in your digestive system now compared to when you started. Things will settle down (I have a daily golden kiwi fruit and a dried fig). 11 months on I’ve lost 5 1/2 stone. As others have said, trust the process and hang on in there until it becomes your new normal.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 18/11/2025 08:30

@diggitydoo as Motnight said, the fluctuations throughout a week are bizarre, I weigh daily and there’s a definite pattern but I always settle on my official “weighday”. I don’t count calories, but the constipation issues definitely show on the scales and it’ll be trial and error to find something that works for you. You’re definitely not doing it wrong - hang on in there!

@Motnight thats the best solution ever! 😂
@eibbed999 boney arse syndrome is real and bloody painful! I had to buy a gel seat cushion for car journeys, we bought a new sofa recently and got a pocket sprung one that feels like sitting on marshmallows - best purchase ever! We had an old memory foam mattress topper that I chopped up into seat cushions for my desk chair and they definitely help. The pain is real, also underwire bras are now causing pain on my lower rib cage 🤦🏽‍♀️

diggitydoo · 18/11/2025 08:34

Thank you. Yeah I only started on Thursday. Weighed myself the day before on weds so I guess I should just do that again before I catastrophise.

thank you for suggestions and reassurance x

eibbed999 · 18/11/2025 08:37

I'm also noticing bras being more uncomfortable @Iwouldratherbesinging - I suppose it makes sense, there's a lot less flesh coating everything! Though now I have masses of pretty yucky crepey skin everywhere instead. I'm choosing not to get hung up on it, not a lot I can do, and at the end of the day crepey skin isn't going to give me heart disease or diabetes!

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 18/11/2025 08:39

I agree, the fluctuations through the week are bizarre! My 'official' weigh day is Sat but if I weigh myself earlier in the week I often see a maintain or a gain, but it's always come off by Sat. For instance, today I am the same weight as I was on Sat, despite increasing my exercise and keeping my calories stable (I'm averaging around 1200/day at the moment, target calories to lose 1kg/week is 1450 but I hardly ever get to that). I found that my appetite didn't start to properly reduce until a few weeks in - for instance when I started I was having 2 Weetabix for breakfast, now I can only manage 1. I'll have homemade soup for lunch but only some fake chicken (I'm veggie) with it, no carbs, and that fills me up when it probably wouldn't have done at the start.

GnomeDePlume · 18/11/2025 09:44

@diggitydoo Fluctuations can be huge. I agree with PP, slowing digestive transit will mean you may have a lot more food in you than previously.

Trust the process. The 2.5 dose is not considered therapeutic, it is just a gentle introduction. You may need to go up through the doses to get the full effect.

I'm now on 12.5. Mounjaro just keeps ticking away in the background. It doesnt make the good choices for me but it does make it easier for me to make them.

Since starting on it I have found my tastes have changed. I no longer crave carbs and, specifically, bread. This wasnt an instant thing, it came over time. Meals which previously sounded dreary to me (eg salmon, broccoli and rice) now are amongst my favourites. I no longer enjoy pasta anything like as much as I did, I dont want garlic bread.

I would 100% echo this @diggitydoo about tastes changing for me it really has built gradually over time. I’m now 8 months in and now on 11.25mg (I’ve always counted clicks and gone up every 6-8 weeks appetite dependent in half doses ie. 2.5mg, 3.75, 5, 6.25, 7.5, 8.75, 10). I was a very similar weight to you at the start. I also ate a whole Hotel Chocolat Easter egg over the first two weeks in April. Did it slow down my weight loss, possibly but overall I still lost 11.5lbs that month. I wouldn’t want to do that now though as my tastes have changed- it was my birthday last week and I just wasn’t that bothered about cake though did enjoy a lovely cheese and wine tasting.

One of the best tips I got from this page was to use the Happy Scale app. You can weigh every day and it averages the fluctuations out for you. I’ve stuck a picture on of my graph for this week to sort of show what I mean. Personally I notice if I have a carb heavy day it really makes an impact so I would tend to only have a very carby item at one meal a day max now. For example the meals that you mentioned I’d have more soup than previously but skip the roll altogether. Or a meal we often have as a family; Cajun chicken, wedges and veg, I’d have 2 chicken breasts (which sometimes I finish, other times not- all guided by appetite) but no wedges.

Sorry that’s so long!

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 18/11/2025 10:30

Just had someone notice my weight loss for the first time 🥰 one of my colleagues who didn't know I was on a weight loss journey asked if I'd lost a lot of weight, it felt really good to have someone notice. My weight goes up and down all the time so I figured it would take a while before people noticed but this colleague hasn't known me as long so probably easier to see it.

WafflingDreamer · 18/11/2025 14:50

I really struggle to 'see' myself if that makes sense. I still feel like the size 22/24 person that I was and had been for many years. Work colleagues will say things like you can't possibly still be wearing 18/20 trousers you're much smaller than me and I'm in a 16 ect. I could tell you if in my opinion someone was slim or obese but in-between that I really struggle. I got a size 20 coat from vinted as I wanted space for layers as my kids play football and its huge. I can fit my 5 and 8 year olds inside it with me!! I get so many comments from people telling me its about time to buy a new coat assuming its from last year!

Autumnflowers2 · 18/11/2025 14:55

I am 4 pounds away from a 10 stone loss
And being back to my wedding day weight .
I just keep thinking..what sort of person gets married and puts 10 stone on .
I'm surprised he didn't divorce me
I wore a size 18 dress on my wedding day ,Andi felt so slim ..
I'm only 4 pounds away from that weight and I still feel fat
I had a jacket arrive today in a size 18 and it fitted lovely ..but I looked at it , thinking that will never fit me
I think I've bought to many size 20 hoodies in the sale

diggitydoo · 18/11/2025 15:07

Ok you’re all right, thank you. Just weighed myself again and I’m down a kilo (2 kilos from last night)

I really hope I don’t keep feeling the urge to weigh myself and track food. It’s really triggering and bad for my mental health. I hope I relax into it more as at the moment I just feel anxious and sad. Thinking about all the failed diets, a childhood of my mother dieting and macing me diet, a lifetime of being shamed at the doctors .

bought some prunes and kiwis for the constipation

Snap!
I got married and put on 10 stone autumn flowers! My husband still loves me too. Nice to know not all men are shites and we’ve chosen wisely x
