We're all getting there.
Even if it's very slow now.

Weigh in and jab day.

SW 137kg BMI 53.5
CW 95.3kg BMI 37.2
GW 63kg BMI 24.6

15 stone exactly in old money. 6 stone 8 lbs down. A smidge over 5 stone to get to goal weight. 30% down on starting weight.

But it is a scary thought that to get to goal weight I will have lost 54% of my start weight.

Mum2Fergus · 13/11/2025 09:26

Sneaky jump on scales this morning and 1lb down from weekend takes me to exactly 5st loss since February!! Just need to keep it off for official weigh in on Sat 🤣

Cross posting this, for anyone suffering hair loss as a side effect. My sister recommended this so I’m giving it a go and a week in I think my shedding is a bit less.

I might try this, I've been shedding a lot too.

I have been using Ancient and Brave Collagen which is also very good. As well as Nutrition Geeks Biotin. No idea if they work but my hair (touch wood) is fine still after being on MJ since last August and losing over 100 lbs so far

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 13/11/2025 13:23

I'm interested in trying collagen but I'm vegetarian so don't want to use the 'proper' collagen. I've seen ads for Feel Vegan collagen which sound convincing but I'm wary - is it just snake oil? Anyone have any experience?

GnomeDePlume · 13/11/2025 13:47

I need to get my hair cut. It's now over a year since the last cut. The grey hair is frizzy but the rest is straight.

My face shape is very different from a year ago, I now have a visible jaw line and cheekbones. My preference is to have short hair but at the same time I have terrible eyebrows (thanks failing thyroid) so I need a decent fringe to hide that from the easily frightened.

Im going to have to brave the hairdresser arent I?

I'm veggie too so use vegan collagen. My understanding of it is - actual collagen supplements are basically giving you extra collagen in addition to that which your body produces, so you know you are definately getting more collagen. Vegan collagen doesn't add collagen directly, it gives you the right amino acids and nutrients to boost your bodies own production of collagen.

My view is, I know (because of other health issues) I have some nutritional deficiencies, so something to help me produce more collagen, even if by a small amount, is beneficial to me. If I had a very good diet and no concerns about nutritional deficiencies, I'd be more questioning about whether it would give me any benefit.

The supplement you've referenced seems quite expensive but has a lot of claims to it. I bought a 45 day supply (edit - of a different product) for under £20.

SilenceInside · 13/11/2025 14:52

I’m vegetarian too, so won’t take collagen. But I wouldn’t anyway, as there’s not enough decent quality evidence for it being useful. It’s just additional protein, the collagen in it is digested so broken down into constituents which your body could use to build more collagen, but equally could do some from any other protein that you eat.

The vegan “collagens” I had a good look at to see if I thought there could be any benefits, and there’s even less evidence for those. They are usually food supplements (things like raspberry powder, chickpea powder, beetroot powder, chicory powder) with a high dose of vitamin c and other vitamins/minerals. I already take a decent multivitamin and couldn’t see benefit in swapping to these supplements instead.

Ugh well I spoke to the GP today about the acid reflux symptoms as I am still in pain most days after doubling my dose like my Mounjaro provider suggested.

i suppose I was hoping for a quick fix and a stronger prescription, but she wouldn’t do anything medication wise and is sending me for an endoscopy.

i think my biggest fear is that they will tell me to stop the Mounjaro, I’m not anywhere near done yet! BMI is just under 40 now.

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 13/11/2025 15:04

I should add that I doubled the dose of esomeprazole, not the Mounjaro!

@GnomeDePlume you may not be aware but I'm secretly chasing you on the scales being similar weights starting and progressing, I keep an eye out for how you're doing to make sure I'm keeping up and not dropping the bal. Thought I'd admit that 😅

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 13/11/2025 17:36

@SilenceInside and @Ketra you have just perfectly articulated both sides of the debate that has been going on inside my head 😉 I'll keep looking into it but at least I know I'm not missing something obvious.

I had a NSV today - I was able to wear my uniform dress rather than tunic and trousers for the first time in at least 6 months 🥳 it's still a bit snug, so will last a while, but is definitely boosted my mood! That said, my current uniforms are a 22 and I still have 18s and 14s in my wardrobe (and I've only been in this uniform for less than 3 years 🙈) so there is a long way to go yet!

TragicMuse · 13/11/2025 18:06

Nice NSV @RenegadeKeeblerElf!

I’m wearing an old Fat Face tunic which I love. And my boots are easier to put on and do up.

I’m on my 3rd pen now and I have a question about keeping unopened pen out of fridge. Not sure if anyone has come across this dilemma before.

We are going away for a few weeks and even if I try to change my jab days a bit, I will end up taking my new pen with me which will be out of fridge for 3-4 days before I take my first jab. So my question is, do you guys think if there is any difference if the pen is opened or unopened when out of fridge? If I start counting the days from when we leave until I take the last jab from that pen, that all will be within 30days. Otherwise I will have to bin the partial golden dose from the previous pen and I don’t want to waste my money (I’m on 3.75mg).

SilenceInside · 13/11/2025 18:16

@SnowWhiteisMyFavourite so the second pen will be out of the fridge for more than 30 days, have I got that right? A 3 or 4 days unopened, and then the rest of the holiday in use?

And you want to do the 4 normal doses plus use the remaining liquid for a 5th dose, which will then be over the 30 days usage?

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 13/11/2025 18:19

You can start counting the 30days from when you take it out of the fridge, even if you don't start using it straight away. Anything within that 30 days will be within guidance, if there is anything in the pen after 30days it's down to your personal attitude towards risk

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 13/11/2025 20:15

@SilenceInside @RenegadeKeeblerElf thanks for your comments. If I’ve counted the days correctly, all the doses from the new (and old) pen will be taken within 30 days (might be 32 which I would be ok with) after the pen leaves the fridge, so all good. I will now travel with two pens and a syringe; one pen which has a partial dose still left and one unopened pen. I just got confused as the guidance says “keep the pen in fridge until opened” but this doesn’t actually mean that you can’t keep it in the room temperature if unopened. Phew 😄

Fffreeeeezing · 13/11/2025 21:06

Vinted people please help! I’m fairly new to selling stuff but so far all has gone well…… until now!
Just walked to the shop to drop off 2 parcels, all good, got email receipts. Half way up the road I then had a massive panic and decided I had put the wrong labels on the wrong parcels (same size, same grey postage bag) so I rushed back and got the man to switch the labels.
I am now utterly convinced I was in fact right the first time and the parcels are en route to the wrong people (it’s been a long day!)
What do I do? Do I message them and explain? Do I tell them not to collect - would they be sent back to me? Has anyone else been so stupid?

Not technically a WLI related post but is kind of vaguely…….

PearlTeapot · 13/11/2025 21:12

@Fffreeeeezing I'd do nothing and wait and see 😄how stressful! Poor you. Sorry I'm no help. I did once receive the wrong thing from a mix up but the seller was so nice about it and I sent it back to her.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 13/11/2025 21:16

Wait and see what happens @Fffreeeeezing

If you've made a mistake, you'll soon find out. Don't worry, Vinted will help in this situation.

But all you can do now is wait.

Going forward, always put a sticker on every package as soon as you've wrapped it, so that you know what the contents are. I always do this, and check that I've got the right one when I present the QR code at the post office.

I can’t believe I did it 🫣 it’s so unlike me to f up something so simple, my excuse is it was raining and I had to leave the dog outside and I could hear her barking and was panicking about her welfare so I was rushing the parcels! If in doubt blame the dog 🐶

I started a new pen before finishing my old pen so that I could take the final (golden) dose from my old pen on holiday and not start and transport a new one. Also had a letter from BUPA saying it was prescribed medication.

diggitydoo · 13/11/2025 22:39

I’ve just done my first jab. I barely felt it, that was so weird. Was unconvinced it even went in, but it must of as I saw some blood. Eeeeek

SilenceInside · 13/11/2025 23:07

@diggitydoo yes, it’s a bit of an anticlimax isn’t it! It took me a good few minutes of reading and re reading the instructions and psyching myself up to do it, then it was over and done. I then managed to prick my finger on the back end of the needle when putting it in the sharps bin which really hurt!

Good luck with it all this week.
