@diggitydoo hello 👋 I think most of our experiences here on this thread are similar to what you have just described. I too remember weighing the same as my age in the way that you describe.

I wondered if you wanted to say more about what's scaring you and where the panic is coming from? Is that to do with starting Mounjaro? Or that it won't work for you?

WafflingDreamer · 12/11/2025 14:03

One of the challenging things Im finding having lost so much weight is I have absolutely no idea what suits my body. I've always hated clothes shopping, I need a nice dress for my works Christmas party and I have no idea where to start.

GnomeDePlume · 12/11/2025 14:05

@diggitydoo welcome!

I think, when everyone starts it's all about the numbers. But I think what keeps us all going are the NSVs, the Non Scale Victories. These will be personal to you. The first time (or first time in a long time) that you do/wear/go something/somewhere and it's a little bit easier.

For me it was putting on a pair of socks and realising that it hadnt hurt my knee. It could be bending down and picking something up.

It's your journey. Your experience wont be the same as everyone else's. Some people get good appetite suppression from the outset, others have to go up through the doses. Some people get side effects, others dont. Some people lose weight quickly, others more slowly.

If it turns out it doesnt work for you then that just means it wasnt the right thing for you. Not that you have failed in some way.

The only thing which is consistent for everyone is the need to drink lots.

Keep coming back. There is a wealth of experience here. Share your NSVs, we are a celebratory lot!

PearlTeapot · 12/11/2025 14:06

Thanks everyone- just heading outside for a walk and feeling really positive 💖🥰

@diggitydoo welcome to the best thread! I was absolutely in your shoes, so afraid and so fed up. I’ve now lost 6 stone and my life feels completely different. Welcome to the losers club! Stick with us and we’re all here with you on your journey.

SilenceInside · 12/11/2025 14:15

@WafflingDreamer I would start with identifying your current body shape, based on measurements or by eye. Then have a search online for dress shapes that suit your body type. I've used ChatGPT to suggest outfits based on a picture of me and some ideas about what I like in terms of colour and style. I have non negotiables, like sleeve length, which has to cover my upper arms, so that helps weed out a lot of options. If you don't like shopping in real life, you could have a look at the websites of shops near you, and narrow down what's currently available before going in person to try on. I hope that's helpful and not patronising!

I have found that clothes shopping in person is a lot less traumatic now that I am a smaller size that is usually in stock in most shops.

Isobel201 · 12/11/2025 14:34

Hi all, SW 19st, CW 16 st 13 pounds, so I have 9 stone to lose. Had a maintain for two months at 17st, now just breaking into the next weight bracket. Less lower back pain, but my knee pain has got worse.

Have you got a John Lewis in easy reach? They stock Live Unlimited which is good for size range and prettiness…

Might be a starting point for you.

TheZingyFish · 12/11/2025 13:09

I’ve been trawling through my wardrobe over the last couple of days looking for stuff I can wear, lots of stuff is now too big or if it does fit it was bought so long ago I would no longer wear it.
I thought I would go shopping to see what is what, so headed to M&S thinking they sell sizes 24 and 22 as I think I’ll be somewhere in this range as I have some 24s in trousers from Next that are getting loose. Unfortunately the M&S I went to only seems to stock up to size 18 for most items with a few size 20s. I couldn’t even buy some new knickers.

I did ask why the range of sizes was so narrow and was told I could order online, I pointed out this was more expensive and I wanted to try stuff on as I didn’t know what size to order. I just wanted to feel normal and it really annoys me that shops treat larger women in this way especially when the sizing of clothes is so inconsistent these days. I used to love spending time shopping for clothes and going for lunch to make a day of it, but honestly where is there to buy stuff in a shop where you can try it on rather than order online these days?

Ditto for you too - Live Unlimited have some lovely party stuff.

Fffreeeeezing · 12/11/2025 15:13

Hey @diggitydoo I started last March at 25st9 and I'm nearly at the 8 month mark and am down to 19st already, make sure you
drink loads and you'll be fine!

I noticed some NSVs this morning, I put on my knickers whilst standing up followed by most of my tights!
Also I had a slight panic whilst led in bed last night, thought I had some kind of lump on my side, turned out to be the top bit of my pelvic bone!

TheZingyFish · 12/11/2025 15:24

TragicMuse · 12/11/2025 14:58

But where can I try on in a shop Live Unlimited? I think someone else said, our bodies are changing so we no longer know what suits so need to try on lots of stuff to see what size and shapes to look for. By the time I order two sizes of stuff and different things I could be spending £100s and potentially still have nothing except lots of returns to do and more ordering, if I was in a shop I could try on different sizes and styles in one go before spending anything.

Motnight · 12/11/2025 15:29

@diggitydoo welcome 😁
@PearlTeapot lovely to read your update

SilenceInside · 12/11/2025 15:31

@Isobel201 hello and welcome as well 👋

diggitydoo · 12/11/2025 15:51

thank you everyone.

it's nice to find people who understand.

I'm afraid of it working and it not working. I'm afraid of having to think about all this at all.

Also scared of the side effects

The last time I lost weight and got down to 14 stone I absolutely hated people noticing it and talking about my body. Even positive comments hurt. Just felt like they were cloaked insults.

I also hate the having to think about for all the time and my body all the time. It's just so painful . I don't want t have to weigh myself and track food. It just reminds me of such dark hopeless times

SilenceInside · 12/11/2025 16:12

@diggitydoo I haven’t calorie counted whilst on Mounjaro for the same reasons as you. I find it too triggering, I was first on a diet as a young teenager and many times since then, and I just can’t anymore. Thankfully I haven’t had to so far. I am ok with weighing myself, it’s got a lot better recently. But I can only weigh in KG and not in pounds or stones, as that is also triggering for me. I have no attachment to the numbers in kg, no bad memories associated with those numbers.

Some people weigh once a month before they reorder the pen, or even weigh and get someone else to record it but not tell them. Or weigh in at random points.

What I have found liberating about Mounjaro is how little I’ve thought about food or “dieting”. It just changed my relationship with food and all that stress has just faded away.

People only commented once I’d lost a large chunk of weight, around 6 stone or so, when I started to wear different things than I did before. I also find that excruciating when people mention it, and try to change the subject as quickly as possible. It’s refreshing when I meet new people who didn’t know me before who have no idea about the weight loss, as I know they won’t comment on it at all!

PearlTeapot · 12/11/2025 16:12

Ah I'm sorry you felt that way, like they were cloaked insults.

I think we all have different experiences but also perspectives and this thread has taught me that, for me I love the compliments and they motivate me to push harder, I've never once thought anyone was being anything other than kind and genuine.

You’re absolutely right that there are things online and having to buy two to try sizes is annoying, expensive and exclusionary.

I first encountered Live Unlimited in John Lewis. Definitely up to size 24, because that’s what I was at the time. I also tried some JL own brand, also a 22-24, in-store.

I’ve also found some Next shops carry size 22 in-store.

For less costly, Asda and Sainsbury carry up to 24, but our Sainsbury has closed the fitting rooms so they can get to fuck!

It IS a total pain and I have all sympathy.

Week 30
SW 18st1lb
CW 15st7lb
GW 9st5lb bmi 24.8
another 1lb down this week, I’ve just jabbed my first 10mg dose in one go, I’ve been split dosing 7.5mg on Weds and 2.5 mg on Sunday for 7 weeks using 2 pens but started a 10mg pen today and thought I’d follow the proper dose, fingers crossed no adverse effects. I have completely gone off Greek yogurt, I just can’t look at it anymore it turns my stomach, so I’ve been having 2 weetabix and a banana for breakfast on my non working days but it does lack the protein but helps the fibre! When I’m working I don’t eat until lunchtime.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 12/11/2025 17:34

You're doing well @52soon

I've also gone right off all kinds of things that I used to enjoy.

I always loved porridge but I cannot bear it now. Slimy, sloppy stuff.
It's a nuisance because porridge is such a good choice for breakfast.

A very belated happy birthday to @Doggymummar! Love lemon drizzle, totally worth it 🌟
so glad you’re breathing in fresh air @PearlTeapot ♥️

welcome @diggitydoo, that fear is real and we’ve all felt it. I don’t remember ever being the weight I am now, it’s surreal, scary and exhilarating all at the same time. You’ve joined a fantastic gang here x

I love the compliments, sang at an event this weekend and there were a few people there that hadn’t seen me since the summer, I was about 4 stone down from starting MJ then, now 8 stone down and 2 people didn’t recognise me! Loads of love and compliments received and gracefully accepted. One person did say ‘oh, you’re not taking that wegovy are you?’ I said no, which is the truth 😂. It wasn’t said nastily, just that persons way of talking.

and yes, bloody Vinted is a nightmare!

I like the Quaker oats porridge, I like it slightly sloppy but I toss in some sultanas for a little sweetness.

Woopwoop for the new lumps and bumps. A curious lump in the middle of my chest is catching my attention, turns out it’s my rib cage.

Welcome @diggitydoo. I remember feeling just like that in March but reading about how longer standing posters like always fabulous, wise and inspiring @SilenceInside were doing made all the difference in those early uncertain weeks. I was 24st 9 to start, today am 17st 1.

diggitydoo · 12/11/2025 23:59

I daren’t dare to hope . But thank you allxxxx

MummyInTheNecropolis · 13/11/2025 06:13

@diggitydoo, I felt exactly the same, I didn’t believe it would work for me, after all, nothing else ever had! I’d seen people lose tonnes of weight at slimming world and weight watchers, or through fasting or keto etc, none of which ever worked for me, why should this be any different? Pleased to report that I was wrong. I started at 24 stone 13 pounds, and have now lost almost 12 stone. It’s been completely life changing, I now wear size 12 clothes (which are starting to feel loose)! And can do so many things I couldn’t before. I wish you all the best on your journey, I’m sure in a few months time you will be reporting back amazing results.

YES!!! I've only lost 3lb in the 2 months since the 11th September and I've finally managed to get going again. Swapped to wegovy last week and I'm definitely hungrier than I have been in a long time. The day before my injection my stomach was absolutely growling!!

PearlTeapot · 13/11/2025 07:43

Morning all, I had a very hungry day yesterday and don't know why as it was the day mj supposedly peaks in me (inject Sun evening). But I ended up eating and snacking loads, way more than normal, then felt rubbish in the evening.

But one nice thing about mj is it's so much easier to just make the next right choice. Like I've woken and feel ready for another, usual, normal food day. I never used to be able to do that, one bad day was always one bad week.

And yesterday was about 1/8th of the food I would have eaten before. So that's that too.
