Just to add to what the others have said, I think your posts are completely relevant to this thread - weight and mental health are so intertwined for so many people that you can't separate them off into neat little boxes.

Motnight · 05/11/2025 10:30

@PearlTeapot keep posting, we are all here supporting each other 💞

TragicMuse · 05/11/2025 11:00

Hey. We came for the MJ chat, we stayed for the support and togetherness. Keep on with your good self @PearlTeapot if you need the company, what are friends for?

Lds1 · 05/11/2025 11:11

@PearlTeapot I agree with the others no need at all for you to stop posting 😊

My mum has come round today she brought me some of her old jeans, not sure if they got too big or too small for her. They're a 16 but too big at the waist which is a shame coz they're nice and not in a colour/style I would have bought myself.

PositiveAttitude · 05/11/2025 11:46

I echo everyone else here @PearlTeapot and say keep posting. We are here for you whatever you post about. It's good you managed to get out of your room already today. Step by step you will make good progress.

I have hit the milestone of losing 50lbs!!! I can't quite believe it. Half way to my first major goal. And in only just over 3 months! 😁

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 05/11/2025 12:41

Wahoo @PositiveAttitude

50lb!!

Morning everyone, thank you. Things always feel more bleak at 5am don't they?

I’m absolutely broke so can't order food in, otherwise I would. They do try and encourage me to eat different food but it's just the anxiety plus autism plus out of control feelings making me stick to salad for lunch and sandwich for dinner. I feel like I can't eat another sandwich though. This morning I saw the chef and he suggested a jacket potato for dinner but that feels too heavy to have as an evening meal although I will take that option for lunch and then try salad for dinner instead.

@Doggymummar lots of love to your friend with her recovery. I'm in a private hospital too and it is lovely and I'm very lucky to be here. The salads are excellent etc but because I won't leave my room I can't go down to the restaurant to pick out food which means I just stick to what I know. We are working on building up to going there though, this morning at 7 I went there for the first time and got a coffee.

EDIT TO ADD... sorry if my posts are annoying people, I realise we're on a weight loss thread and I'm a misery in my mental health at the moment. I love my friends on this thread though but I can try to keep it off if anyone wants to PM me and let me know if they think it's not appropriate. I wont take it personally.

Edited

I'm so happy you trust us enough to share what is going on in your life ,we are all rooting for you , please don't stop sharing ❤️..I really hope sharing helpsxx

Typo alert. 4 months, not 3!!! 🤦🏻

Billybingbong · 05/11/2025 14:19

@PearlTeapot keep on posting lovely. We're not just here for the weight loss chat, we can also share the highs and lows of life, safe in the knowledge that we're amongst friends.

I will never pretend to know what you're going through, but i have a little understanding. My young adult son has huge MH issues, and is leaning on me quite heavily at the moment, so I'm living it with him, its brutal. Much love to you and anyone else struggling right now 💕

52soon · 05/11/2025 17:08

Week 30 another 1lb down hopefully my stall over and under 100kg🎉
SW 18st 1lb
CW 15st 8lb
GW 9st 5lb bmi 24.8
had my repeat biopsy Friday and ended up being admitted overnight so missed my usual jab so I’ve jabbed 5mg Sunday and another 3.5mg today, odd amount but could only get 42 clicks out of a 5mg pen. I’ve been using it to top up my 7.5mg to 10mg. I will start my new 10mg pen next Wednesday. Started collagen and magnesium today, still staying under 1200cals but would really love more than 1lb a week.

Autumnflowers2 · 05/11/2025 17:14

Need advice..again ...
So mil gifted me £100 to buy some new clothes
I need a winter coat ..but I want a long gillet .
It's going to last untill April, then I expect I won't wear them again..
I can't decide between a puffer coat or a gillet ..do I really need both ??..do people have a gilet and a coat ??..they are both approx £30 each in the sale
Second question
A size 20 fits just right with a jumper under it ,there's a bit of wiggle room too.
Should I buy the size 18 instead as it has to last untill spring..or no ,be comfortable now ,as weight loss does slow down after a while .
Sorry mundane issues ...but I'm going backwards and forwards with this ....

Lds1 · 05/11/2025 17:21

I have a double layer coat so it can be used all year. There's an inner puffer bit that zips in for winter. It's some kind of hiking brand I think.

Id get the one you can fit layers under now whilst it's colder. I've never owned a gilet so can't help there.

Doggymummar · 05/11/2025 19:32

Gilets go over a jumper i think, I could be hideously wrong and look like a fool. I wouldn't wear them both together or I would look like a ball. I have multiple gilet I wear in the house so I can move my arms properly. I wear them outside on warmer days like today when a coat would be too much

@PearlTeapot I'm sure that nobody on this thread is finding your posts annoying. We've built up a small community of online friends on this series of threads and I've found that we're invariably good to one another.

We're all together for the long haul and I feel that we support one another, through whatever challenges life throws at us.

You must miss your wife terribly. Has she been able to get down to see you?

I sometimes wonder if the majority of people realise that it isn't uncommon for mental health patients to be admitted to psychiatric hospitals which are hundreds of miles from those patients' homes.

Yeah I didn't know people were moved so far from home. Seems in human to me

Unfortunately there is a chronic shortage of mental health beds in this country and people get sent wherever there is room. Can't help recovery when you aren't near your support network.

GnomeDePlume · 06/11/2025 06:22

Weigh in and jab day.

SW 137kg BMI 53.5
CW 97kg BMI 37.9
GW 63kg BMI 24.6

15 stone 4lbs in old money, 6 stone 4lbs down in almost exactly 1 year. 5 stone 5 lbs to go to GW.

Off into the London office now. First time since well before I started on mounjaro.

@Autumnflowers2 as the person who has just given a never worn m and s coat (bought last year) and a hardly worn Seasalt coat (also bought last year) to charity last week as they are far, far too big on me I would say buy the size 18 😬. Plus buy both!

GnomeDePlume · 06/11/2025 07:05

NSV I am sat on the train and could fold down the little tray table in front of me. In fact there is room between the tray table and me!

Love that feeling @GnomeDePlume. I asked to sit in a spare seat on the bus yesterday. The lady next to (she was blocking the window seat) refused to get up to move, she just sort of turned to one side. I just shovelled in past her and sat down. At my fattest I wouldn't have even asked to sit next to someone on the bus, I wouldn't have fitted. But I also wouldn't have been able to get past anyone to sit down. Not sure why the lady didn't move - she got my arse in her face - but that's her concern not mine! She did the same when I asked for her to move so I could leave the bus 😂

GnomeDePlume · 06/11/2025 07:19

@Motnight the longer I live the more I realise that some people are just weird.

Public transport had become a fear for me. Seat sizes, lots of walking, just general discomfort, getting hot and bothered.

But today is new me.

Mind, had a slight panic in the week as I havent got a lot of clothes fit to wear in decent company.

WafflingDreamer · 06/11/2025 09:34

OK I need someone to help me give my head a good kicking. The food noise part of MJ has definitely stopped working over the last couple of months and it turns out my willpower is still crap. When I first started I didn't want sweets, crisps, chocolate ect. Now I'm definitely having to use all the will power in the world to try to resist. The kids should be able to have snacks but particularly post Halloween my house is full of treats! I just need to get my head back in the game and actually decide if I want to lose more weight which I do and get on and bloody do it. I'm so annoyed at seeing numbers between 14st 13lb and 15st 2lb on the scale. I've switched to wegovy this week which apparently doesn't help with food noise but since that part isn't working for me perhaps the switch will help kick my head in to gear!

Weigh in number 56
SW 21st 9lb (BMI 44.7)
CW 14st 13lb (BMI 30.6)
GW 12st 9lb (BMI 25.9)
0lb down this week
Losses so far; 4, 1, 5, 1, 3, 4, 2, 2, 2, 4, 1, +3, 5, 1, 3, 2, 4, 3, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1, 3, 3, 1, 1, 0, 2, 3, 1, 2, 2, 0, 1, 3, 1, 1, 2, 3, 1, 3, 1, 0, 1, 1, 2, 2, 0, 1, 1, 1, 0, 0, 0
Total loss 94lbs / 6st 10lb

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 06/11/2025 10:32

Why why why do the scales keep getting stuck for no reason?? It's so frustrating when I am eating well but apparently not losing, or even gaining! Since I weighed on Saturday I've been between 100g and 500g heavier than that weight, but have been well under my calorie allowance every day. This often happens during the week with a whoosh on weigh day but it's really annoying!

For illustration, calories since weigh day (target for losing 1kg/week is 1460)
1039
1210
984
1095
1345

Yet the scales say I am still heavier than I was on Sat, how is that possible??

justteanbiscuits · 06/11/2025 12:29

I'm still around... lack of executive function / object permanence means I keep forgetting to come in at the moment as have been hugely stuck on the weight loss!!

MJ has very much stopped blocking all the food noise, and while it's not as bad as off MJ, it is requiring a lot of will power and misery to stick to less food! BUT, MJ is still helping with my non weight loss symptoms, which were my main reason for taking it, so I am sticking with it.

With hindsight I would have fought harder to not go up the strengths as quickly as I did.

I also wish I knew how to focus on the belly too. Everything is shrinking round it, but I still have a massive pouch which makes me feel just as fat as I ever have done :(

Fffreeeeezing · 06/11/2025 12:31

@RenegadeKeeblerElf sometimes there is no rhyme or reason and weight loss is not linear, most people have some good weeks, some not so good and occasionally the worst kind where you put on weight for no apparent reason, you have to keep trusting the process and that the overall trend is downwards.

It does look like you're consistently eating too few calories however, that's not good as your body won't be getting enough fuel to function properly. You need the protein/carbs/fat and other nutrients to stay healthy and the less calories you eat, the more likely you are to be not getting adequate nutrition.

I've had some of my best weekly losses when I've eaten over my 1600 calorie allowance.

Plus good nutrition might help with minimising hair loss which is enough to encourage us all I imagine!

I was thinking the other day about people who give me so much EXTRA room to move, as if they assumed I was so huge. Even at my largest. For example, someone who completely moves off the pavement to let me pass, despite the pavement being able to fit 4 people walking side by side comfortably. I wonder how many times people have overcompensated moving out of the way for me, just in case the obesity was contagious.
