@WafflingDreamer ..I have also needed a lot of willpower the whole way through..I've never found it easy to loose weight ,not even while on monjroro..
I buy snacks for the DH and DC that I know they like and that I don't ..so basically salt and vinegar crisps or nuts are safe from me , anything plain is not safe .
Sometimes I have locked food in the car if I thought I was going to eat it ..as I'm still very lazy and the walk to the car to retrieve it , is often enough time to think twice ..your body may need a little time to get used to wegovy
@RenegadeKeeblerElf I have exactly the same my weight dropped by pound to the next stone ,then decided to go up by a pound for a whole week ,it's a law unto it's self ..it's so frustrating,I'm desperate to see the next stone on the scales and I'm like half pound away
@justteanbiscuits ..your needing a lot of willpower at the moment..me too ..some weeks it feels like very slow progress ..have you been on mj long ?
@Motnight .. well ,my DH has a fleece,a gillet and a coat and a rain coat .
I'm going to keep the gillet as it's nice and long and £30 at half price..
But I might rethink the puffer jacket ,as I think it's making me look puffed out , Michelin man style ..it's a fine line between buying what fits now ,or buying the size smaller to last as long as possible, but then finding I put it away untill I fit in it ,and then by the time I get it out ,it's to big ..this has happened countless times this year

Fffreeeeezing · 06/11/2025 12:31

@RenegadeKeeblerElf sometimes there is no rhyme or reason and weight loss is not linear, most people have some good weeks, some not so good and occasionally the worst kind where you put on weight for no apparent reason, you have to keep trusting the process and that the overall trend is downwards.

It does look like you're consistently eating too few calories however, that's not good as your body won't be getting enough fuel to function properly. You need the protein/carbs/fat and other nutrients to stay healthy and the less calories you eat, the more likely you are to be not getting adequate nutrition.

I've had some of my best weekly losses when I've eaten over my 1600 calorie allowance.

Plus good nutrition might help with minimising hair loss which is enough to encourage us all I imagine!

I get what your saying about too few calories, but I'm not consciously trying to restrict them, that's just where I end up. The day I was under 1000 I had Weetabix for breakfast, salad with fake chicken for lunch, vegetable curry with rice for dinner, and snacks of a Belvita breakfast biscuit, a freddo, and an egg.

justteanbiscuits · 06/11/2025 14:29

@Autumnflowers2 a year. And I have history of meds just crapping out on me, so am presuming my body is just used to it and now ignoring it! This week was my first loss in 8 weeks looking at my spreadsheet - well, first time I've dropped below the weight of 8 weeks ago, I've been up and down the same 2lb for that time.

I have noticed too that it's taken me into a new stone bracket! I am now 12 stone something which is slightly nuts. I never, ever thought I would get this low. So I will continue, how ever slowly the weight comes off, I guess it is coming off. And that's one reason my spreadsheet is so handy as rather than sulking over 8 weeks, I can look and see where I have come in the last 12 months.

Lds1 · 06/11/2025 14:37

Omad has given results

Loss this week 2.3kg / 5 lb and 1.1 oz. Not sustainable and probably the most I've lost since I started. I think it's been a woosh and partly hormonal as October losses were rubbish. Into the next stone down though!

SW: 142.8kg / 22 stone, 6 lb and 13.1 oz
CW: 75.7kg / 11 stone, 12 lb and 14.2 oz
Total loss: 67.1kg / 10 stone, 7 lb and 14.9 oz
BMI: 50.8 / 26.9
To get to healthy: 5.6kg / 12 lb and 5.5 oz - less than 1 stone!!
To get to target: 15.7kg / 2 stone, 6 lb and 9.8 oz

MummyInTheNecropolis · 07/11/2025 06:36

Well done everyone on the losses and NSVs.

@PearlTeapot I know I’m a bit late but I echo everyone else, please keep posting, we are all behind you.

Weigh day for me today and another 3lbs off bringing my total loss to 11st 12lbs. My BMI has gone from 53.1 down to 27.4!

I am also using a lot more willpower at the moment but I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. I’m still only on 10mg but don’t want to move up when I’m so close to target, in fact I’m planning to start moving down the doses after Christmas so I think it’s good for me to use some willpower, ready for when I’m in maintenance.

@Motnight the longer I live the more I realise that some people are just weird.

Public transport had become a fear for me. Seat sizes, lots of walking, just general discomfort, getting hot and bothered.

But today is new me.

Mind, had a slight panic in the week as I havent got a lot of clothes fit to wear in decent company.

Same here. I have a professional conference coming up soon and need something smart to wear. Nothing fits, it’s all far too big. I need to go shopping.

GnomeDePlume · 07/11/2025 08:01

Weird day in London yesterday. Nobody mentioned weightloss but I noticed several people looking at me slightly quizically. Like they could see something was different but couldnt quite put their finger on what it was.

GnomeDePlume · 07/11/2025 09:13

Another NSV from yesterday. Someone seems to have moved the tube station closer to the office I was visiting. I dont remember it being so close.

Several people in the office were complaining about it being warm. I hadnt noticed.

Several times I caught sight of myself. I am now a short, tubby, late middle-aged woman. I no longer stand out. Which is such a relief.

Billybingbong · 07/11/2025 09:16

@GnomeDePlume people are wierd around weight loss I'm sure it was noticed, but they were just too polite to say anything. Ive had a bit of that. I get the side eye or quizzical looks, and can almost hear what they are thinking, it's very strange. I bet you felt amazing though, regardless

Billybingbong · 07/11/2025 09:37

Week 31, and another 2lb off. 5st 4lb total.

I'm having a bit of a 'meh' week. Work is relentless, my elderly dad is quite poorly, and our oldest son is having serious MH issues. Its all a bit too much. Also, I signed up to a 12 week programme with Second Nature, which feels like a huge mistake. I thought it would give me a boost, but it just seems to be giving me flash backs to the slimming world days, where you had rules, and were told what you could & couldn't eat. I don't think it's for me, and it's probably made me realise I'm actually doing ok doing this my own way.

Sorry for my moans, I'm sure normal service will resume shortly. But despite all my whinges, I am forever grateful that MJ is still quietly working away and doing it's thing in the background. Have a great week everyone

SW 22st 8lb
CW 17st 4lb
GW 11st 4lb

PearlTeapot · 07/11/2025 09:49

An NSV just occurred to me while I was in the shower. I have used a loofa on a stick for years as I couldn't... reach to wash myself everywhere. I didn't bring it here and it's only just now I've realised I can wash absolutely everywhere absolutely fine. Not even straining to reach.

How wonderful.

@GnomeDePlume someone moving the tube station made me choke on my coffee 😄love NSVs so much!

Weird day in London yesterday. Nobody mentioned weightloss but I noticed several people looking at me slightly quizically. Like they could see something was different but couldnt quite put their finger on what it was.

Not one single person at my work has said a single thing, it's the bizarrest thing.

I was sat round a board table this week surrounded by people I know pretty well and they were all asking the guy next to me how much weight he has lost because they can definitely tell his face is slightly slimmer and they were all like 'wow 5kg'. I've lost 40kg and I don't get a bloody word!

I've caught the HR director giving me the side eye a few times but that could be dislike equally as I'm not a fan of hers 🤣

Fffreeeeezing · 07/11/2025 10:47

Ive got the most horrendous head cold at the moment, snotty, cough, sore throat, none existent voice, feel like crap (I must sound bad, my boss just called and said I sound like shit and to close my laptop and go to bed).

My suppression however is absolutely through the roof (it's jab day tomorrow), don't think it's ever been this high on any dose.

Anyone else had this effect when ill? Pre MJ I would be sat here with boiled eggs and a huge pile of thickly buttered bread and be planning lunch. I have my usual yoghurt chia and fruit in the fridge waiting to be eaten but I just can't face it, this is unheard of

I think sometimes people can't distinguish between degrees of 'fat' - they genuinely can't see the difference between for instance a BMI of 40 and a BMI of 50 - I was talking to some colleagues recently and they mentioned another colleague who had lost weight, and that she had started at a BMI of 45, when I said that mine was higher than that they genuinely had no idea. In their minds we were about the same size when in reality I'm a lot bigger. I know I often look at people I know well and can't quite tell if they've lost weight or not, and until it becomes really obvious I don't like to say anything in case I'm wrong, as it could seem like I'm saying I thought they were bigger than they actually are if that makes sense.

GnomeDePlume · 07/11/2025 11:00

@Billybingbong I think what I felt was normal, unremarkable. Which in itself is amazing.

My colleagues are mostly male, all lovely but a lot younger than me. We mostly meet on Teams. So they have seen my face shrink. Since losing weight I think I think I look older. So I think that is what they are seeing 'Gnome is older than I remember'.

TheZingyFish · 07/11/2025 11:32

What I love the most is lots of these NSVs seem to creep up on us without us realising at first and often these are things that so many people would take for granted.

@GnomeDePlume I love the comment about feeling normal and unremarkable, it sounds so daft but that is what I think we all strive for, to feel we fit in and don’t stand out for the wrong reasons.

GnomeDePlume · 07/11/2025 12:01

I think that in the noticing/commenting on weightloss there are a few factors at play:

  • the younger generations do seem to have been taught not to make personal comments to people. Very different from my DM's generation!
  • there is always the worry that someone losing weight (especially if older) is in fact unwell. Who want to say to someone that they look amazing when in fact they are undergoing treatment.
  • a lot of people just dont notice until the person in front of them is 'suddenly' slim. Just how long has Alison Hammond been losing weight for? Yet it's only now that it gets noticed.

I was exactly the same when I had covid a few weeks ago. I was completely off my food, and lost 6lb in a week. To be honest, its not really settled down yet, my supression is still much higher than usual. I hope you're feeling better soon

Billybingbong · 07/11/2025 12:56

@GnomeDePlume thats exactly it, isn't it. It just feels good to be 'normal', and not stand out. These days, I am just delighted to be normal obese, and no longer super obese. One day soon (hopefully), I am looking forward to just being plain normal, without the obese tag.

justteanbiscuits · 07/11/2025 13:02

People I know well started commenting on weight loss after 5 stone. This last couple of weeks when I've hit a size 16 is when people have really started commenting on it.

justteanbiscuits · 07/11/2025 13:03

I'm 3lb off being overweight! That 3lb could take a while though :D

TragicMuse · 07/11/2025 18:29

I have been knackered today. Decided to cheer myself up with more under-the-bed clothes fun!

I was looking at old photos and saw one of me wearing a particular pair of jeans, about 13 years ago. I was a pound off what I weigh now. So I tried them on when I got home. I bought them from Affleck’s Palace in Manchester about 30 years ago!

They have NO stretch - they’re vintage Levi 501s. And they’re snug! But they go on AND do up.

Anyway then I tried some old cord flares. OMG, they’re hipsters! They’re M&S Per Una, from 2004, size 16. They also fit and do up. The last time I wore those I was in my 30s!

I’m still knackered but I’m quietly pleased with myself!

Lds1 · 07/11/2025 19:19

Ohhh I loved Afflecks palace, haven't been there in such a long time! I bet the cord flares are amazing, I had some too in the 00's I miss them!

I'd love some Levi's, I don't think I dare go in the shop to try them. I still feel quite anxious shopping as I don't know what size I am in 'normal' shops, what if stuff still doesn't fit. I've been using Primark and supermarkets while going through the sizes but I'd like to try decent quality shops at some point. I've heard supermarket and Primark sizes are bigger than 'normal' shops so I don't want to risk it.

I don't think normal is the right word above, maybe fashion/brand/designer?

Motnight · 07/11/2025 19:21

Bloody hell @MummyInTheNecropolis you have done so well!

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 07/11/2025 19:39

I thought I’d post a positive update instead of moaning about my side effects for once 😂

I have reached the end of my 26th week on Mounjaro which I am counting as the sixth month milestone, I have added a couple of photos of my progress below which will hopefully be approved shortly. The dosage one shows my attempts to get to the 5mg dose which have been thwarted so far by the side effects but as I’m losing steadily, no rush. I just managed to sneak over the 4 stone bar and see 17 stone something for the first time in 4 years.

I am feeling much better in myself and clothes are getting a bit baggy, need to hit vinted for some new trousers soon!

Next to tackle is the pandemic weight gain where the lack of daily walking and deliveroo habit set in.
