Well done!

I have experienced the skin reaction since moving up too. Interestingly, I decided to see if it could be mitigated by applying pressure to the injection site this week. I used a cotton pad and just pressed on the area for around 5 mins. I have bruised slightly, but not the quite large, red area that I had the last few times. Could be worth a go?

Thanks, sounds worth a try!

Do BMI charts differ? For a while I know people said they were old-fashioned and based on a previous generation’s body shape and size, but obviously they are now being used when prescribing these meds.
I am trying to give myself a reasonable healthy end target weight and not sure where to pitch it.
When I first did Weight Watchers nearly 30 years ago I think my target was 11 stone (I am 5 foot 4 and a half) and I never got down past 11.5 and got disheartened.
Over the past year I have gone from 14.5 stone to 13 using 16:8 and willpower and have lost another 12lb over the past 5 weeks on MJ.
When I look at a BMI chart it says I need to get to 10.3 to be healthy but I was again aiming for 11 stone.
Am I reading the chart wrong? They are tiny on my phone and I have aging eyes 🤣 Also does it matter which chart I use?

BMI is a mathematical calculation, which divides your weight in kilograms by your height in metres squared. So the actual resulting number shouldn't change, but the definitions of obese and overweight are sometimes modified by ethnicity because certain groups are more prone to obesity-linked diseases.

The accuracy of your height and weight measurements can change things too, for example, if you round to the nearest inch in imperial but use decimal places on a height in centimetres, that could give you a swing in your number.

I don’t want to say this too soon but I think I’ve had my first side effect free injection! For the previous six weeks, the diarrhoea or constipation began on day 2 after injecting, it’s now day 3 after my 7th injection and I feel fine!

I’ve probably jinxed things now but it’s quite a triumph for me!

Yesssss!!!

W9D4 3.75mg
SW 19st 3lbs
CW 16st 12lbs
GW1 15st
GW2 13st
Last week - 2lbs

I increased my dose from 2.5 mg to 3.75 mg on Saturday but only weighed myself today, as we were away for the weekend. I’m pleased with my weight loss, especially considering the weekend consisted of McDonald’s, a Chinese takeaway, and two pub lunches.i did stay between 1500-1700 calories each day so there still was some calorie deficit.

However, I think the latest dose isn’t working as well as I expected. I have no appetite suppression anymore in D4 (woke up with my stomach rumbling) and I feel hungry all the time. I’m drinking plenty of water between meals, but I really need to rely on willpower not to overeat. I’m in two minds about whether I should take the next dose early (and stay on 3.75 mg) or try to wait until Saturday and then increase to 5 mg. Or should I just increase to 5 mg early?

Is anyone else suddenly feeling really hungry? Or is this just a hangover from the weekend and all the fatty foods? I did have more carbs than I’ve had in a very long time.

Chopsy123 · 28/10/2025 07:52

@SnowWhiteisMyFavourite Do you think you’ve had more sugar over the weekend than in previous weeks?

I think an increase in sugar and unrefined carbs could set off your cravings and so it might not be that suppression on your current dose is reducing, as such?

I think I’d probably take another dose of 3.75mg earlier rather than jump straight to 5mg. 🤔

But only you know how you feel, so do what you think feels right for you.

Thankyou for the recommendation. Which of her books is best to buy?

She has three - the method, the 6 week programme and a full cook book. I use this, but the 6 week programme also has lovely recipes and I use these a lot.

bluepaperwaspofbxl · 28/10/2025 09:26

7th week in weigh in day today and 1.9kg (4lbs) down. I injected a day early again. This is working for me and DH, as we have been feeling hungry on the 7 day schedule. Still on 2.5mg.

SW 86.5kg
CW 77.4kg

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 28/10/2025 09:32

@Chopsy123 I think you are right. I didn’t eat cakes/biscuits etc but I’m sure the food that I did eat had much higher sugar/carbs content than the food I have eaten over the last 7 weeks. It’s scary how the body starts craving things.

jigsawmeup · 28/10/2025 09:42

After gaining 2lb last week(!) I am down 3lb this week. Current weight is now 12.12 down from 13.12 so I have finally lost my first stone! I was due to do my 10th jab today, but I have decided to come off Mounjaro. I haven't had much suppression at all and I have really struggled with insomnia on days 2,3,4,5. I hadn't realised how much this had been affecting my day to day life and general enthusiasm and motivation. I'm pleased with the results I've had and gutted this hasn't been the thing that helps me get to the my target weight, but I am going to continue to try and keep up the good habits and hopefully get there slowly without it. If that doesn't work, I guess I could try and see if I get on better with Wegovy, but I think I need to give my body a break and just get some proper sleep for a while!

familyornot · 28/10/2025 12:08

I'm currently on week 6 of Mounjaro and have stayed on 2.5mg but today my suppression is zero, I'm starving. I've got 2 doses left in my 2.5mg pen and have ordered a 5mg pen which will arrive tomorrow. I'm really worried about increasing to 5mg but no idea how to microdose and do 3.75mg. I've also got 2 x 2.5mg doses left. Can anyone advise the best way to go about increasing without taking too much, would I just take 2 injections from my 2.5 mg pen to get to the 5mg dose? And how many clicks to I do on the 5mg pen to get to 3.75mg?

It feels so confusing. I've lost 15lbs over 6 weeks but my weight hasn't changed in a week, I've struggled not to give in to temptation and I know I've eaten a lot more than I have on previous weeks.

i have not used part doses so far but I think that to get 3.75mg from a 5mg pen, you count 45 clicks as a full dose is 60 clicks. So 2.5 mg would be 30 clicks and 1.5 mg is 15 clicks, totalling 45.

Someone posted this chart that might be helpful

OneDayIWillLearn · 28/10/2025 13:25

@familyornot - I’ve done 3.75mg from a 5mg pen by counting 45 clicks as @Ihateslugs says.

You could do a double dose from your 2.5mg pen to get 5mg, yes. Or do a full dose and then a half one (30 clicks) to get 3.75mg.

Not sure if you have thought about ‘the golden dose’ but there is a good YouTube video showing how to do it.

Pinkbox · 28/10/2025 15:32

Today I hit a full stone lost 😀, tomorrow is the end of my week six so I'm hoping nothing drastic happens on the scales before then!

I'm still on 2.5 but for some reason I can't recall (meno/flu head) I bought a 5 pen as well last time. I think it was because I was worried about being granted the meds each time by the pharmacy and as Asda had said yes again, I decided to buy a 2.5 and a 5 so I could stock up and make decisions later. Asda are the only ones who will prescribe it to me as all the others have stupid algorithms which can't tell the difference between the types of thyroid cancer...so I never get to partake of the discounts 😢

Pinkbox · 28/10/2025 16:21

Linked to this - what do people do about sending their weight and photos to pharmacies as they get smaller? When I go into overweight from obese, will they still prescribe?

I decided to go to a local pharmacy who offer a weight loss programme for this reason among others - not that I’m likely to reach a low enough weight to be affected! I’m sure it’s linked to the NHS although I have to pay but it offers treatment for maintenance as well. I am covered for 2 years and can take a break at any time then continue without applying again. I can also change to a different drug if the pharmacist thinks it would be better for me. I have a monthly visit to the pharmacy to get my new pen and have a weigh in. I was expecting to pay slightly more as I obviously cannot take advantage of discounts but I’ve been very surprised by the prices so far. I paid £145 for both the 2.5 pen and the 5 one, which was cheaper than anything I could find online without vouchers.

familyornot · 28/10/2025 21:35

@Ihateslugsand @OneDayIWillLearnthank you! I appreciate the advice, I have read about this before but haven’t really understood it. I’m going to use my 2.5 pen to make 3.25 and see how I go. Then the next week I can either do 3.25 from my 5mg pen or just take the full dose.

Hunger is definitely back and my weight loss has stopped, I’m not eating as I was but I think my portion control is an issue and I’m starting to hear a lot of food noise after having zero.

I have so much to lose, just under 6.5 stone, so I can’t afford to slow down just yet.

bluepaperwaspofbxl · 28/10/2025 21:43

@Pinkbox I am with Voy, who have the photos thing going on. I don’t intend to stay with them, as they don’t do flexible maintenance support. I have heard good things about the swift doctor who are apparently flexible and also recognise microdosing, so I reckon I’ll be heading over there at some point.
The MJ discounts page has a section detailing who is good for maintenance support and at what BMI they will accept patients etc.

Yes they do continue to prescribe to you as your weight goes into overweight and even healthy ranges. Different suppliers have different BMI cut offs and some support goal weight maintenance while others want you to wean off.

I’m now in the overweight category and changed supplier for my 5mg pen and had no problem getting my pen at a BMI under 30. The application just required a photo of my current sticker on my pen to show I was already using it.

I changed to Cloud pharmacy for my 5mg pen as they were cheaper than my original supplier. They also support maintenance. I’ve lost just over a stone and have about 1.5 stone more to lose and I want to have the option to stay on a maintenance dose if I decide to.

That’s a really good price, much cheaper than online and you’re getting a personal service.

Fivetogo · 29/10/2025 04:38

Im due to take my 8th jab tomorrow and have been on 2.5 from a 5 pen from the start. I’ve gone from 82kg to 75kg steadily (I’m 5’4) in that time by eating around 1300 cals a day, prioritising natural protein. I haven’t had any symptoms really and I do still feel hungry at times and have to be mindful of what I’m eating.

I’m thinking of asking my doctor to stay another two months on 2.5 - is anyone else thinking of carrying on at the lowest dose? I suppose I’m worried and all of a sudden it’ll stop working (I’m still dumbfounded that it’s actually worked to date!)

UnimaginableWindBird · 29/10/2025 08:14

I'm sure to start my third 2.5mg pen at the end of the week. I've been averaging over 2lb a week weight loss so far so it would be crazy to go up to a higher dose than I need. When I have a month of less than 3lb loss in total, then I'll do up to a bigger fuse.

Chopsy123 · 29/10/2025 08:26

@familyornot You’re doing really well. Try not to worry too much about the weight loss slowing down as it’s normal for it to go in fits and starts and the 2.5mg is only meant to be a therapeutic dose. From reading lots of anecdotal posts online, I think most people need to increase to 3.75mg or 5mg to achieve a steady loss and some will need a higher dose than that to keep losing.

When you’ve lost the weight, no-one will care what doses you took to achieve it, and I’m not planning on telling people about being on WLI unless they’re seriously overweight and asking for advice. If anyone currently notices I’m eating less, I say I’m calorie counting and they accept that. 😁

@Fivetogo Well done on your weight loss so far. That’s brilliant!

I’m due my final 2.5mg dose from current pen on Friday and then debating whether to go up to 3.75mg from my new 5mg pen or stick with micro dosing 2.5mg. I definitely don’t want to jump to 5mg just yet.

What I’ve noticed is that suppression on days 5/6/7 seems to vary each week. Some weeks it’s noticeably less and I have to really focus on not snacking or over eating but last week, for instance, I was fine all the way through to day 7 and not feeling the food noise. So, it doesn’t feel like a clear cut decision for me.

I bet it's the carb hangover. Definitely don't take 5mg early, otherwise you will have taken more than 5mg in a week which would be a massive jump from 2.5mg. You could always take the 1.25mg to add up to 5mg? I'd be tempted to just wait and see how you feel at the end of the week and potentially go up to 5mg then.
