I’m back from maternity leave and have lost 4 stone (6 stone since the day I gave birth) and no one has commented. Do you think people are just being polite? I’ve went from 19 stone to 15 stone so it is noticeable. I’ve worked so hard to lose this weight and not even my partner or family have noticed/said anything

Noticed but maybe feel like it’s a sensitive issues and don’t want to raise

Cooksmart · 02/10/2025 16:03

Plus op last time they say you, you were 8/9 months pregnant

then you went off for maternity leave of many months maternity leave

they can probably barely remember what your body looked like!!

Cooksmart · 02/10/2025 16:03

Or they’ll just assume you been injecting 🤷‍♀️

SkaneTos · 02/10/2025 16:06

Weight is a sensitive topic!

SilenceInside · 02/10/2025 16:07

Some might have noticed but wouldn't say anything to you. In my experience - 22st down to 11st12lbs so far - people only started commenting once I had lost around 6 stone. Especially if people haven't seen you for a while, they won't necessarily exactly remember what size you were, I think people just tend to categorise you as "large" and then don't analyse it much beyond that.

Surely your partner must have noticed, and just isn't saying anything?

I’ve directly asked him. I put on some old clothes which we far too big and he still said he can’t see the difference. I guess all that matters is I can see it

I make it a point to not comment on people's bodies, either positively or negatively as you never know circumstances or feelings around it.

SkaneTos · 02/10/2025 16:09

Can you say to your partner: "I am on weight loss injections. I have lost 4 stone! What do you think?"

SkaneTos · 02/10/2025 16:09

Sorry, read your update now.

ThanksBridesmaidLikeTheBeard · 02/10/2025 16:09

I understand where you're coming from (and well done to you) but when I notice someone has lost weight, regardless of how much they were to start with, I always think to myself "what if they have lost the weight through stress / losing someone" etc, and just decide not to comment on it just in case.

Edited to add - sorry, I do think your partner should have noticed though and should be cheering you on because he obviously knows you've not gone through stress etc.
So my outlook is more for people I don't know brilliantly well.

Yeah I have. His response is the same “no I can’t see any difference”

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 02/10/2025 16:10

Weird that he can't tell from the fact that your clothes are now baggier. Is he worried about saying the wrong thing maybe?

Anyway, you know you have lost weight and it has likely improved your health and how you feel. People will start to comment soon I'm sure. Once they start, they often don't stop!

Yes that would hurt my feelings. Well done for losing all that weight, that's amazing.

Cooksmart · 02/10/2025 16:20

now with WL injections…. I am afraid that most just think..,. What’s the big deal 🤷‍♀️

Cooksmart · 02/10/2025 16:20

Is your partner pissed off about the money?

Thank you! He’s not being malicious or anything, I think maybe because he sees me everyday.

I’m not sure what you mean, sorry. No of course he’s not pissed off about the money.

Samesame47 · 02/10/2025 16:22

To be honest I probably wouldn’t notice the difference between 19 stone and 15 stone on a colleague I hadn’t seen in months and who was pregnant when I last saw them. And even if I did I wouldn’t ever comment on someone’s size, unless we were friends and they had shared that they were trying to lose weight.

Meaning lots just don’t see it as “lots of effort” I’m afraid

and there’s no “of course he’s not pissed off about the money”

I don’t know him. He could have been.
