Yes @Polkadotdash I have. I think if they query it, you just have to explain you have been selling your own clothes. Then you don’t have to pay tax.

myladyjane · 03/11/2025 14:58

@meatyryvita I know that we are doing this for our health, clothes sizes are arbitrary, the patriarchy defines our value based upon our looks etc etc. But it does feel good doesn’t it (I had to get a size s/10 in more than 1 top from different shops this week!)

well done mate

Thelittlestranger · 03/11/2025 14:59

Roll up, roll up for accountability here. Had an enjoyable weekend but now ready to make a few changes for a few weeks - I saw a few other people up for it too.

My way to be accountable is that I'm not going to drink during the week, and no chocolate all. I want to use November to get a little lower, ready for Christmas.

Today I've been for a run, and had breakfast out. Beef stew for dinner, followed by fruit and yoghurt.

Holiday wise, I have skiing booked for January with my sister, and we're looking at Cancun for July because all the kids will come.

HeidiLite · 03/11/2025 15:14

yes me too, I'd think it's anti-money laundering KYC measure. 30 items is not in the regulation but they have to set some kind of limit for regular sales and money transfers.

hunkydory54 · 03/11/2025 15:41

@meatyryvita thank you for the reassuring Wegovy update. I have changed over and I'm definitely feeling like I have to use more will power at the moment. I have had 2 doses from a 2.4mg pen. Boots were happy to switch me over from 10mg MJ straight to Wegovy 2.4mg. I felt a bit nauseous for a day or so after the first dose. I've been staying the same weight wise for the last couple of weeks having got to 12 stone 4 from 15 stone 8 in January. I had been feeling a bit down about it all the last couple of weeks but hopefully it'll all improve again soon and get me to my first goal of 11stone 7 which puts me into a healthy BMI. I'm 5 foot 7. I'll see how I look at that point. I'm 61 and the skin isn't bouncing back like it used to 😔
I'm loving all the holiday chat. We're going to have to be a bit last minute as I've got very elderly parents to keep an eye on and life is all a bit unpredictable at the moment.
Anyway I know my message sounds a bit down in the dumps, but I'm delighted with how far I've come on this journey and wearing clothes I haven't been able to wear for years. I need to do some exercise which I've been putting off for fear of something going ping again and hopefully that will make my stubborn midriff area shrink.
Onwards and downwards 😁

2025istheyeari · 03/11/2025 16:01

Hi everyone

Yay to size 10s and lovely new clothes! Love the sound of your kilt @meatyryvita and thanks for update on wegovy, really good to know.

Hope those not feeling well get better soon and that those struggling get massive wooshes. We’ve all come such a long way!

Love the holiday chat, we used to ski but I’m partially sighted which is tricky and then had to have an ACL reconstruction after a v low speed fall! I skied once after that but because of my eyes it has to be perfect conditions and not busy, which is tricky in school holidays!! DS has been with school the last couple of years and luckily DH not too bothered so no skiing for us for a while!

We’re trying to make the most of holidays with DS for next couple of years before he turns 18 and is either off on a gap year or at uni!

I think the advice you’ve had is spot on Zempy and v glad you’ve made the right decision for you.

@Thelittlestranger thanks, my commitment is no alcohol other than if I’m away, that’s crept in this weekend after a crazy week last week. I’ll track everything and make sure I get my macros right, I’ve been eating lots of carbs. I weighed today and jabbed after 10 days and I’ve stayed the same which is a minor miracle. Still up after Budapest but haven’t really got properly back on track. Have the in-laws coming for a week on Thursday, that’ll test the alcohol commitment, what was I thinking 🫣.

meatyryvita · 03/11/2025 16:27

@myladyjane thanks for the good wishes! On the feminism front, as a rather forthright person about all things feminism, my confidence is increasing as I shrink (a lot to be said for your comment about meeting patriarchal social norms) and so whilst I physically take less space, I'm a more confident presenter, I hesitate less about speaking up in nerve-wracking situations and I know that I walk with more of a bounce.

I almost get why some of those ridiculous tech bros have wardrobes with just black t-shirts or whatever; freeing myself of the worry of how I look/what my size says about me etc., means that I have more time to reflect on me and my personal and professional growth.

@2025istheyeari never is a good time to cut the booze out! It does make a difference though - mainly to what I eat, as my willpower goes after just one beer/wine/whatever. 💪

myladyjane · 03/11/2025 18:11

@meatyryvita I do find the relationship between weight and feminism provoking. I am not well read on the subject (I have read bits) and have been a bit scared to if I’m honest. I 100% know I’ve been less successful professionally because of my weight - the lack of confidence/fear of taking up space/deflecting comments with humour to cover up insecurity. And yes, not presenting myself as smartly as others because what’s the point if I’m a bit fat…. I find it difficult to unpick tbh. But also, fuck the patriarchy and fat is indeed a feminist issue.

I have never been so proud of my daughter, in whom I have managed to instill a much better self than I’ve ever had, when she dumped her latest boyfriend because he had an opinion on her outfit and her having opinions he didn’t agree with. ‘I mean mum, I am not putting up with that shit as we don’t want to let the patriarchy win’…..

BlueLimes · 03/11/2025 18:36

Absolutely agree - I do read the feminist boards and full of admiration for the very eloquent posters who stand up for women’s rights.

Ive definitely noticed strangers (mostly men) treat you differently when thinner. Twits.

Thelittlestranger · 03/11/2025 19:20

I have definitely been treated differently since being thinner. I've tried to explain it to my husband - he said I just didn't notice them looking before. They weren't looking.

My weight never stopped me taking up space physically or metaphorically. I haven't noticed if I'm treated differently at work, because they all knew me before I guess. I wonder if it would be different if they hadn't. It's an interesting thought.

On Saturday I was at a dance event and asked where I could get tokens for the bar - the security man walked me all the way there. That would never have happened before.

HeidiLite · 03/11/2025 19:42

Oh, people definitely treat me better. Mostly strangers but also some colleagues, especially male ones.
And not dating any more, but my weight has always gone up and down, also when I was younger and single. The difference in male attention when slightly chubby or when slim is just unbelievable. Not a little more, but a different magnitude.

And yes being overweight certainly has an effect on career - less likely to be hired and promoted, lower salaries, seen as less competent. Mostly we see this effect on women's careers, of course.

HeidiLite · 03/11/2025 20:13

Oh and coincidentally, I was just watching a moderately chubby woman being interviewed. And it was just so obvious how she wasn't concentrating on what she was saying, but half her energy was going on hiding her stomach and holding it in. You know, when you sit in a certain pose and try to keep the angle, and an arm across waist. So being self-concious about weight can certainly hold you back from that respect as well.

BreezyPeer · 04/11/2025 07:00

Morning 🌄 losers!

Sorry, I've been MIA
I will catch up and respond as soon as I can.
Just popping on with weight loss news. This morning ( not a weigh day 🙄) I hit my goal! 5st loss.
This is actually the weight I want to maintain now. I'm comfortable. It's still high healthy bmi, 22.7, but given my height and built and disappeared boobs and bum, I'm happy 😊.
I will see how I get on on Thursday, weigh day and then I'll try to loss a few more lbs to give me a buffer.

Have a great Tuesday everyone xx

HeidiLite · 04/11/2025 07:31

Massive congratulations @BreezyPeer , you must feel fantastic! 5 stone!
And your BMI is not high end, nicely in the middle.

Now go find a 5 stone weight and try to carry it around for a day to celebrate :D

Zempy · 04/11/2025 07:46

Congratulations on joining the five stone club @BreezyPeer😍

PenelopesPursuitPrevails · 04/11/2025 08:08

Massive congratulations @BreezyPeer 🥳. You must be thrilled.

Bit behind on the thread here and oh my phone. I’m away today with one of my pieces of work, still not enjoying my new work groove tbh but at least I’m not in a toxic environment.

Still sticking weight wise despite eating being ok. I’m lowering my expectations. If I could lose 4lb and keep it off that would be 4st. Boo.

Jins · 04/11/2025 08:15

Well done @BreezyPeer! That BMI is ideal if you’re tall.

It’s wet and miserable here today and I have to go out so I’m not looking forward to that much. My knee is virtually back to normal but I’m keeping the brace on and using a walking stick for another week. It’s been a bit of a revelation to see other people’s behaviour towards stick users and a very positive one at that. I might retain it for use in busy places as I’ve been given much more space.

Accountability update - yesterday was a good day for sensible eating but I’m giving the credit to my bumped up dose.

DGonMJ · 04/11/2025 08:46

Congrats @BreezyPeer, well done!

I’m having a slow-ish start this morning after doing a late one for work. Was hoping to lie-in a bit longer but adrenaline kicked in an hour ago and got me out of bed.

Suppression is unusually high at the start of this week after a couple of weeks where it just hits at the weekend. Wonder if it’s hormonal. I’m day 3 of my cycle.
And I wonder what would happen if I amended the dose so first half of my cycle (when I have more energy) was lower than second half (when I’m hungrier).
Has anyone in maintenance tried this?

MJalltheway · 04/11/2025 08:52

5 stone is incredible @BreezyPeer massive congratulations!! 🙌 🥳

Im also pleased to report my holiday weight has all but disappeared today and I'm back on what I was before I went. 😁

Zempy · 04/11/2025 08:54

Interesting @DGonMJ I am really hungry since jabbing Sunday night. I wonder if I have gone just below the dose I will need for maintenance. I tool 6.25.

I thought my maintenance dose would be lower than that for some reason!

tinyemmy · 04/11/2025 08:59

Congratulations @BreezyPeer this is pretty much what my BMI is, it used to be the middle of the range when the range was 20-25, at some point they lowered it.

I'm a smally, 156cm should I be looking at a lower BMI to be more healthy?
Weight post holiday has been up and down with not much gain post holiday and then a massive 4lbs on, thankfully I'm down to just a 2.8lb gain which is still above my comfort level, I prefer to maintain at the bottom half of my range! I knew the 4lbs wasn't fat, but I'd also been eating a lot. I'm being more accountable to myself now, it's also sad that I can eat so little... I don't really know what my maintenance is as I haven't been tracking and for example the other day I went a bit wild so no ideas how many calories I got to with the Ben and Jerry's, cake and biscuits 🙈
It's my first proper gain in maintenance though and I've been at this for 5 months so I must be doing something right, I just don't feel very in control!

HeidiLite · 04/11/2025 09:02

My eating yesterday was abysmal - 5 hour train ride to one of our German offices, then had a few hours to investigate local TK Maxx (bought a gorgeous Michael Kors burgundy belted winter coat, very happy with that). Then realised I had not eaten anything, so picked up some fast food chicken wings, as couldn't be arsed with going out to eat. As healthy balanced eating goes, not a success exactly. Today won't be much better, but November is already full of all kinds of parties and events, so a couple of days of calorie restriction is quite welcome.

Zempy · 04/11/2025 09:27

Those who are still jabbing in maintenance, how much are you taking?

Thelittlestranger · 04/11/2025 09:51

Morning! Yesterday was a good food day, although it felt like quite a lot. Today I have chicken and salad on sourdough planned for lunch and spaghetti bowl and courgetti planned for tea. Out on my evening course so that avoids snacking.

Congratulations on hitting your goal weight @BreezyPeer !

@tinyemmy my BMI is 23.5 and I'm a shorty. I'm happy where I am. Size 8 petite and not much left to grab of me. Are you happy with your size?

@Jins well done for avoiding the chocolate
