oh no, that sounds unpleasant, @PenelopesPursuitPrevails
Hope you managed to get back to sleep.

On a previous topic, so what advent calendars have people bought? I got a Nocibe make up for DD, Manga drawing for DS, looking for some kind of food calendar for DH. And for myself, StyleVana Korean beauty calendar came back in stock, has all the brands I already use, so really looking forward to that.

meatyryvita · 09/10/2025 06:48

Somehow and it’s just not logical, another 1.2lbs on! I am very much looking forward to this bigger Wegovy dose to see if it will reverse this nonsense. My nutrition has been excellent, my water intake has been excellent, my protein levels high. I’ve got my steps every day and have exercised 3 times this week. Bah!!!!

Oh @PenelopesPursuitPrevails that sounds horrid. I hope you managed some sleep.

@HeidiLite I got dh a highland shortbread one and dd2 candy kittens. Dd1 I got her the W7 beauty one (got good write ups as a budget entry point). I don’t know for me. I almost got the look fantastic one but then stopped. Then the boots one. I then decided it was too much to spend and thought I’d get the M&S one if they did it. They do but it’s still 95 quid as you have to buy something (I need a new dressing gown though so I will do with no problem). But I’m not sure how much I like in it. Then I had the whole ‘what a waste of money’ thing. Then I had the ‘I deserve a treat ‘ thing. Now I am in the ‘hung for a sheep as a lamb’ phase and looking at liberty….

myladyjane · 09/10/2025 06:53

@meatyryvita no hormonal gain at play? Nothing salty? Post exercise inflammation?

because it does sound weird. Are you a wavy scaler? (Someone who bobs around a lot day to day - I for example tend not to be a wavey scaler without a reason , my weight tends to be pretty static)

Thelittlestranger · 09/10/2025 06:58

Lots of offensive scales today. Try to remind yourself it's not linear, etc, etc. Bloody frustrating though.

I can't bring myself to start the big advent calendar thing. Similar conversation as you @myladyjane Kids are happy with the chocolate ones, and we already spend so much at Xmas, why am I even considering adding to it. Am rather tempted by the Liberty one though...

I have been saintly this week. No work drinks yet, but have to get through today. Maintaining spot on, but I was hoping to see it shift to the bottom of the range, but reminding myself that it's ok.

Had a sound bath yesterday - that's quite the experience. Not sure I need to repeat it, but had a lovely little nap.

@PenelopesPursuitPrevails sounds uncomfortable. Hope it clears up

PenelopesPursuitPrevails · 09/10/2025 07:04

👋Good morning, thank you everyone. It hasn't gone yet, I did get back to sleep at about 3:30. I'll pick up some pepto bismol first thing. Quiet day wfh today, lots to do but that's ok, I can pace mysef a bit.

'Wavy scaler' I love that! I'm definitely one of those. Sorry @meatyryvita it is extremely frustrating.

I think we are skipping advent calendars this year although we'll have a dark chocolate one each. We're on holiday and would miss 8 days of them, plus I am paying for another holiday for three so sensible me could do without dropping another few hundred quid on calendars.

@Thelittlestranger I've been to quite a few as they used to be part of the offering at my club membership, I'll always remember that during the first one it was so loud at times that my body felt like it was in a mode of abject terror for about 15 minutes. I was never keen but sometimes went along as part of a group of friends.

I haven't jabbed today. A friend is cooking for me tonight and my suppression has been really high. I'm going to see how I go spacing out the dose a bit more. I am exactly 30% of my bodyweight down since I started in January.

I think I am going to stop losing and start maintaining when I get to 10st anything. This will be 5st down and I am pretty happy with my weight, my BMI (23.1) and my body shape.
Good luck to everyone weighing and jabbing xxx

myladyjane · 09/10/2025 07:22

@PenelopesPursuitPrevails I am a martyr to the burps as well as more southerly effects - I jab on a Thursday pm and then I get them in the night Friday to Saturday to the extent they wake me. Pepto is the only thing that helps but not that much. I need to let them work through I’m afraid. Luckily for me (and others) the southerly impact is mostly noise based rather than anything more offensive but I recommend brisk walking somewhere quiet and alone to speed the process.

i am afraid of sound baths. I know a few people who have really not enjoyed the experience. We have a local lady who’s yoga class I’ve been to a couple of times and she does an all day gentle retreat which I fancy but the gong bath bit really puts me off.

have decided on M&S calendar wise. Went through it and there is only a couple of things I wouldn’t use (dd will) and some bits I will find very useful. The minis are always useful for my work make up bag or my swimming kit. As a consequence I have upgraded my dressing gown as well but that’s a birthday present from dh so I think fair.

HeidiLite · 09/10/2025 07:29

@myladyjane ooh shortbread, I might get that one for myself on top of the cosmetics, just love shortbread. Of course they are luxury and not needed, but I really look forward to a little treat every day - and I will use most of the items.

And Liberty and Lookfantastic are both great calendars, I also like Cult Beauty one.

@meatyryvita that is so frustrating, hopefully just a random stall.

BreezyPeer · 09/10/2025 07:31

Morning 🌄 losers!
@PenelopesPursuitPrevails hope your day is better than your night although you have made me laugh with your Sulphur Burps South of the Equator!
@Thelittlestranger I am thinking about moving to an expensive advent calendar first year ( for DS) never done one before. Have to wait to pay day and might be sold out by then!
@HeidiLite i think you are a bad advent calendar influence 🤣 i always want to buy more when i read about your beauty purchases
@meatyryvita very rude scales! I am hoping 🤞 for a whoosh next week for you.
Hope everyone has a great day!
I've got quite a busy work day and then out for dinner with a friend xx

HeidiLite · 09/10/2025 07:42

I have also bought not just one, but 2 Xmas party dresses - a silver one and blue sparkly one. From Vinted, and sold my previous years' outfits. Silver heels also on the way.

Zempy · 09/10/2025 07:50

I will get M&S Calendar as usual.

You know you can always return the item you bought to qualify for the purchase. ☺️

Hope you feel better soon @PenelopesPursuitPrevails.

I’ve not have a period for years as I have a coil. I’ve not eaten anything particularly salty either. My exercise is the normal fast/hill walking on my treadmill and weights - which I’ve done throughout this. Thanks for the sanity check though - really appreciated.

Jins · 09/10/2025 08:11

I was a bit of a martyr to sulphur burps and worse. I had a couple in Malta, DH declared we weren’t going through this again and rummaged in his first aid kit (glad he managed to pack that - it’s been quite useful this year). Within the hour I was back to normal. Yes - it was a palatable beef flavour metronidazole tablet for dogs, yes it tasted as bad as you can imagine but boy did it work. I’d stick with the pepto bismol which also works but not as rapidly.

No advent calendar planned here I’m afraid. DS2 usually buys himself one but we aren’t Xmas people generally. Now DS1 has moved out I doubt we’ll even put the tree up. That time of year is linked to the loss of my parents for me. Mum’s funeral was on December 23 FFS and Dad died on 12th night so quite honestly my memories of Xmases of yore are tainted with memories of nursing them both through their final weeks. Grim.

I ate abysmally yesterday. I had my normal early lunch but was out for a meeting most of the afternoon (volunteering stuff so always takes hours) and came home starving hungry. Didn’t do the sensible thing of making a sandwich or cheese and crackers, just kept grabbing random stuff to eat. Luckily I’d made some vegetable soup so had some in the evening and forced myself to make do with that. It’s day 6 today and I’m seriously considering jabbing early.

Rude scales can get in the bin @meatyryvita and hopefully a higher dose will get things back on track for you. It’s not a great advert for Wegovy at the moment.

I’m rambling. Not sure why I can unburden myself to you lovely people in my phone when most of my thoughts stay in my head IRL. Have a great day all

2025istheyeari · 09/10/2025 09:06

That sounds bloody awful @PenelopesPursuitPrevails, like Jins, 7.5 was my nemesis, not straight away but I had the worst symptoms and quickly moved off it. Thinking about it, I’m about to move down to 7.5, hoping I don’t get them again! Hope you recover soon, peppermint oil capsules helped negate the horrible sulphur burp taste for me- slightly!

@meatyryvita thats crap. Really hope the increased dose works. Wonder if it’s your body adjusting to being off MJ and getting used to Wegovy or something? Hopefully your provider can give advice as last thing you want is to pay and put weight on 🙄.

well done @BreezyPeer thats amazing!

thanks for all your lovely messages on my stats, no I never thought I’d be here and im
delighted!!

@Thelittlestranger i have done one sound bath and found it really disturbing, hated every second and had I not been with a friend I would have got up and left. She said exactly the same at the end. I don’t know what it was but I definitely won’t repeat the experience!!

@HeidiLite I’ve bought Liberty as a massive treat! DH bought it for me last year and I loved it. Joined beauty drop so that funded it mostly. We’re also away from 17/12 but I look at it as a way of replenishing my products for the year. I’ve also bought a few things from other calendars on Vinted. I’ve bought DH a beer calendar and DS will have a Tony chocolonely one. We do decent stockings and I decided I couldn’t manage both!!

@Jins sorry it’s such a tough time of year for you. Be kind to yourself about eating, we all have those times, I had a week of it a few weeks ago, didn’t know why but it happens. It’s a point in time, a couple of days and you’ll get back on track.

BlueLimes · 09/10/2025 09:51

@Jins sorry that there are tough memories.
@PenelopesPursuitPrevails get better soon.
@2025istheyeari your stats are amazing! Really incredible.
@meatyryvita I’m cross for you. Hope the scales behave better soon.
I’m definitely a wavy weigher, not hear that befire @myladyjane enjoy M&S.
@HeidiLite I’ve got spacenk but definitely want another. I was tempted by Liberty but managed to get most of what I wanted from Vinted. I would have got Harrods too but so dithered and it sold out.
well done @BreezyPeer you’ve done so well, how’s the texting? Was worried I’d do a typo there 🤣
Work drinks tonight - I won’t weigh tomorrow.

Small NSV (as you all know due to my consistent moaning, I’m a slow loser) but I’m wearing a mint velvet blouse in a small.

Have a great day all.

BlueLimes · 09/10/2025 09:52

@Thelittlestranger i think you deserve a treat.

@cloudjumper i really hope your scales move soon 🤞

Aimingdown · 09/10/2025 09:53

@PenelopesPursuitPrevails that sounds horrid. Hope you’re not feeling too tired today and that it goes away quickly. I had an explosive other end months ago when increasing to 5, but that was the same period of time when I suddenly realised I’d lost a good chunk of weight and started to get my body back so I don’t think too badly of it now.

@meatyryvita give your scales a good talking to, 🤞 you get the dose sorted out.

My gym just started a sound bath class, think I need to spend my time there moving though so probably won’t bother.

Grecianrainbow · 09/10/2025 09:56

Official jab/weigh day tomorrow. I’ve been stuck at the same 11st 7 all week- I usually fluctuate a bit. So I really hope that it might move tomorrow. I moved to 12.5 as seemed stuck at 10 so now I don’t know if that was even worth it 😖 especially as I had far more nausea going up this time. Fingers crossed for some movement. Will double down on the water today too.

Polkadotdash · 09/10/2025 10:13

@PenelopesPursuitPrevails good Lord that sounds awful. You poor thing. Hope it improves or you will have to be on the beefy metronidazole like @Jins !

after shopping around for my next dose of WeGovy, Juniper gave me the biggest discount, so I’ve signed up. What are they like as a provider? I don’t like lots of nagging emails - is that what they do?
@meatyryvita I’m in the same boat as you with the WeGovy gain. It’s been really getting to me this week. I’m worried now as I’ve sold all my size 16 clothes and if I start piling the weight back on I will be selling all the 14s instead and buying the big ones back. It’s depressing me as well that the algorithms know I’m searching for WLI prices so my social media feeds are full of those people who claim to have lost 14 stone in a month on the first jab. I’m such a slow loser and I’ve not worked out why the weight hasn’t just melted off me like that. Feeling very disheartened this week.

Polkadotdash · 09/10/2025 10:26

Also - I popped in to Liberty on Sunday as I braved a trip into town. I thought the Christmas department was so disappointing. It was just filled with the type of Gisela Graham ornaments you can get anywhere. There was only one bauble made of Liberty fabric, which was not very special. I really was expecting more. It was really generic. I’ve been to nicer garden centre Christmas shops.
And I’m a Christmas hater as well! My issue with it stems from my first Christmas as a parent of two. It really triggered my anxiety because it is soooooo much work. I knew it was bad when I woke up one morning and I was out of bed, standing up, pacing the bedroom floor. Not normal behaviour! I felt like my load was already massive and then I had to plan, shop and deliver a magical experience for everyone. As the years have gone by it never got any easier, only harder. My middle child has ADHD so he really struggled to cope with all the excitement at school, home etc. Hence why I cut the chocolate advent calendars. My husband could not give a flying fig about Christmas so he just opts out at the start of the season, leaving it all to me. I don’t think it’s fair on the kids not to have a nice Christmas so I have to pretend I love it. It’s really draining doing that for a month. I’m always very glad when we pack everything away and life can go back to a normal level of chaos rather than a tinsel covered one.

RockyisMYRhino · 09/10/2025 12:49

Weigh in and jab day here and the scales have finally been kind to me and let me have 3lbs off!!! Think that’s the most I’ve ever lost in a week. Have ordered a 0.5 wegovy pen to start from next week so we’ll see what happens there. Fingers crossed it’s just as effective as the MJ has been for me! Would really love to be in a size 12 by my birthday next month 🤞🤞🤞
Start Weight: 15st 1lb
Current Weight: 12st 8lb
Total Weight Lost: 2st 7lb

PenelopesPursuitPrevails · 09/10/2025 13:43

Wow @BreezyPeer - look at your loss, tremendous. Pleased I made you laugh 😁. Have a lovely evening.

@myladyjane , I thought of you in the night, my first thought was actually, ‘what fresh hell is this (nasty smell)’, second one …. 💡@myladyjane has talked about this.

I think @HeidiLite deserves the title of Queen 👑 of the advent calendar dept.

@meatyryvita , this too shall pass has become my motto in the weighing in dept.

@Jins I would love a bag of what you’re having, seriously, you make me laugh with the pet/human drug crossover. I am really sorry to hear about your losses around Christmas. My best friend lost both of her parents in December and feels exactly the same way.

@2025istheyeari - your stats are inspiring to those of us still on the train.

@BlueLimes , enjoy your drinks.

Thank you @Aimingdown .

@Polkadotdash, we always buy a special bauble every year, years ago Liberty was where we went, Fenwicks at a push. Not anymore, you are right in that they have the same stuff that is everywhere else. In about 2009 they had baubles from Shakespeare Glass, I am sure that was the last time we bought from there because of the influx of rubbish. We now buy on our travels. Our 2025 bauble came from the Nordiska museum in Stockholm so will remind us of that.

@RockyisMYRhino - bloody well done 🏆.

I am pleased to report that all is now quiet on the northern/southern fronts. Pepto Bismol is incredible stuff isn’t it (plus double omeprazole). I'm quite enjoying my part-time commitments today chaps, I have decided to down tools and be part-time retired for the rest of the day, lovely.

Thelittlestranger · 09/10/2025 13:56

@Polkadotdash I have always said that I love Christmas and have put alot of effort in over the years. But last Christmas I decided I as fed up of the responsibility. It was the first year all the kids knew FC wasn't the real deal, which loosened the pressure alot, and we went out for Christmas lunch. It was eye opening and has changed my view of how to do Christmas in future. That's probably why I can't face the thought of bringing in amazing advent calendars at this stage - now feels like the time to be taking my foot off the gas, not putting it down harder...
