Bit premature but planning on starting with Mounjaro in next week or so.

I’ve struggled with my weight for the majority of my life and despite having periods of being within the realms of ‘healthy’ weights, these have been difficult to get to and v hard to maintain. I’m now keen to sort things out, once and for all before I’m 40. (Given myself a buffer as currently 36…) 😅

SW: 14st 7lb
1st GW: 13st

About to do my second jab, I lost 4lb this week which feels good. Suppression definitely started wearing off on Thursday and today my appetite has been pretty normal but have resisted overeating.

I seemed to have a bad stomach for the first half of the week then it flipped to the other extreme of constipation on weds, need to figure out how to manage it this week!

StrongLikeMamma · 12/10/2025 21:56

Just ordered my first dose! Is it too late to join you?

SW 14st 4lbs

Hoping I can stick to the low dose 🤞

StrongLikeMamma · 12/10/2025 22:18

Come join us 😊 I was on Wegovy for 4 weeks with horrible side effects switched to Mounjaro Monday and was so much better tried 2.5mg but I only had supression for 3 days so I’m going to up my dose tomorrow to 3.75mg and see how I go. Hopefully no horrible side effects. Good luck with your journey

Thank you ☺️
This is why I have ordered Monjaro.
I’m really nervous about side effects!
I have started a thread to put all my newbie questions on.
Will check in here once I start.

That’s great well done!!! 👏

@AlexBrad Well done!

@StrongLikeMamma The recommended protein target is around 1.6-2kg per your body weight, so based on the info you provided you are looking between 145-180g of protein per day

Moosey898 · 13/10/2025 10:01

First jab done! 🥳 Keeping fingers crossed the suppression kicks in quickly as it did earlier this year when I was on MJ before. Also done 10k steps before 10am, trying to just do as much movement as possible to help as well.

whensmynexthol1day · 13/10/2025 10:10

Any ideas on getting in protein that doesn’t involve anything ultra processed? I’ve had protein at each meal but only got up to 65 ish grams which isn’t enough presumably given I weigh 68kg
so yesterday I ate:
overnight oats (with Greek yogurt) with sunflower seeds
mackerel pate (made with Greek yogurt) with a couple of cracker thins and lots of veggies to dip in
salmon fillet and veggies
that was around 1200 calories including an allowance for milk in drinks

Do you eat meat, I can see you eat fish? If so then Chicken, turkey, tuna, eggs etc and then from a veggie perspective edamame beans, tofu, lentils, chickpeas, regular peas and even spinach (and of course these all come with lots of other great nutrients too).

whensmynexthol1day · 13/10/2025 10:52

Thanks @Moosey898i do eat meat. I guess it’s about how you balance protein and fibre without eating too many calories - not sure I can face meat or eggs in the morning! Getting to 1.6 times body weight for protein seems a big ask!

Moosey898 · 13/10/2025 11:00

@whensmynexthol1day greek yoghurt is a good one for breakfast, I do a turkey bacon bagel because I love a savoury breakfast so it's a little easier! Lean meats are your friend - the calorie value compared to protein is great.

When I was fitness training properly I had a goal of 150g protein and whilst it took planning it was definitely possible (eating 2050 calories a day which gave me around a 1lb a week loss consistently). I had to make sure my snacks were protein focused too. You can also make small swaps like having lentil crisps instead of regular ones - doesn't add a huge amount of protein but the odd couple of grams here or there does add up.

Top tip for fibre is add chia seeds to breakfast - you get about 10g fibre (1/3 daily requirement) from 2 tablespoons. Just make sure you let it soak in the yoghurt for 10-15 min before eating so it's easier on your digestive system. Beans, peas and lentils also have a great crossover of protein and fibre. I tend to mix and match meat and beans/lentils/chickpeas now for that reason (and cost too as it's cheaper than just trying to get protein in from meat!).

Can I join please? I’m waiting for my delivery now and feeling quite anxious but also very excited! I’ve been quite anti-jab but have now done a lot of research, know a few people who have done it safely and am, frankly, sick and tired of doing all the good things health wise and feeling none of the benefits (damn you perimenopause!!!!). Hoping some time on Mounjaro will give me a much needed boost!

sw 85kg
gw 70kg

perhaps more realistic gw 75kg! 😂

So two more says left for Jab 2

Over the weekend, I experienced some side effects- my stomach was upset, but other than that, it's been okay.

Today, the appetite is back, but the food noise is still not there. So if I wanted to, I could eat biscuits with my coffee, but I'm not craving them at all. It's very strange. Previously I would have been thinking about biscuits all morning and it would have taken all the discipline in the world to not have any with my coffee, but when I was having my coffee today, the thought crossed my mind to have a chocolate or biscuit and I thought no I shouldn't and then it didn't bother me.

This is huge for me! I hope it manages to stay this way till the second jab.

Days 2 & 3 I had trouble actually finishing my meals but not having that issue now, which is fine. I'm happy with the food noise gone!

Also, I'm expecting my periods this week and usually that meant I allowed myself to indulge since the cravings would drive me mad, but it's not been so bad. I did have some chocolate over the weekend, but that was within my calorie allowance.

Not losing a lot of weight, I think total weight loss till now is 1 kg, but I'm okay with that.

jaelato1 · 13/10/2025 11:46

@whensmynexthol1day I think what mounjaro has exposed, is that we do not eat enough protein LOL. You can consume your 108g of protein easily - example below (Cal 1100-1200)

Breakfast - 150g of low fat greek yogurt + 1 tsp of chia seed is 22g, add collgen protein powder to your coffee, 9g = 31g
Lunch - 100g tuna with lettuce, tomatoe, cucumber, low calories dressing = 35g
Snack - whey protein shake or getpro yogurt = 20g
Dinner - 100g salmon with asparagus & 1/2 cup of couscous = 35g
Total protein 121g
You can mix and match the food based on the @Moosey898 suggestions.

@DakotaFanny Welcome! The jab is actually easy and straighforward

This is exactly how I feel. I was quite adverse to the thought of the injections, but having followed the threads on here and doing quite a bit of research, I decided to give it a try.
I did my first injection on Saturday and it’s been fine so far.

Clumsykitten · 13/10/2025 12:42

Well, that was quick. Thank you for the advice! My first delivery is on its way. Any tips or suggestions? What do you wish you knew before you started?

DakotaFanny · 13/10/2025 12:48

Just done my first one. Can’t believe how much it DIDN’T hurt!!! Bonkers.

I’m absolutely determined to do this sensibly so am fully focused on protein and fibre, exercise and water.

Please, please make this the time I change my life! 🙏

BlueFever · 13/10/2025 13:25

Took my second jab last night. Suppression worse off by Friday but I still managed to lose 3lb in the first week. I’ve got a long way to go, but I’m happy with that start!

Took my second jab last night. Suppression seems stronger this time. Couldn't even finish lunch today. Unprecedented!
Managed to lose 6lbs in my first week :)

Hows everyone doing?

That’s amazing, that’s what it was like a few weeks ago for me I couldn’t finish me food and didn’t want much last week I didn’t get much supression so decided to move up a dose today and tried 3.75mg instead of 5 as I was scared of the side effects

That’s a great start, after 4 weeks on Wegovy the swapping to MJ I found the supression didn’t last long only 3 days so I moved up a dose today to 3.75mg as I was nervous to go straight to 5mg
