Welcome to thread 14!

Link to our last thread here:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5394264-mounjaro-starters-nov-24-thread-13-the-one-where-we-are-lucky-to-end-our-best-summer-in-years-thinner-and-more-comfortable-in-our-own-skin?page=40

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we enter Autumn knowing that ALL of our Winter coats will do up 🥰

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and new stone brackets!

I’m on W47 D2 and on w2 of my second titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 7.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb

Total loss so far 61.0 lbs (at 9st 6.0)

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

House renovation comparison has made me 😂 so much @Mounjaropen

I think part of the issue is I am a lot thinner and about in the lower middle in terms of size for my friendship groups now. And because I am thinner I have an improved beauty regime (thanks team) and I am wearing nicer clothes that fit better. So those things along with Pilates and running (very slow jogging in my case ) probably mean that I do look so much better than before.

My friends had 10-20 years of the plumper pumpkin 🎃 and some never saw the ‘before kids pumpkin’

Maybe we should tell friends ‘actually I was a hottie before kids then in all went to pot so I am just getting back towards the zone I used to be’

Do you remember my sea salt larissa shirt story from the summer? I purchased a shirt which was on sale size 14 but only after a friend said it didn’t fit her and she was very disappointed. I am wearing it today and it’s definitely veering towards the too big size but will be fine under a jumper.

Yes! I've decided this is my story and I'm sticking to it 'I've finally lost the baby weight'😂

SerenePeer · 19/10/2025 11:27

Ok stylish ladies, i need some outfit ideas please. DH bought me a gorgeous light brown A line suede skirt for my birthday but I'm a bit stuck on how to style it. So far I've only managed knee high boots and a fine knit burgundy jumper tucked in! I want to wear it to the office next week so please hit me with your ideas. I tried it with a cream fine knit jumper but it looked too dowdy.

Happy weekend skinny expensive death jabbers!

Yesterday was my birthday 🎂 and I finished the day full of lasagne and birthday cake! How many portions of lasagne did I have? Just 1. How many slices of birthday cake did I have? I dont think it could even be classed as a slice...more a sliver! I can't remember the last time I had a birthday where I didn't spend the whole day stuffing myself just because I could. I also can't remember a birthday where I wasn't saying things like " if only I'd lost half a stone by now...OK let's aim for Christmas...as soon as the cake is finished I'll get back on track and lose half a stone/2 stone/my belly". So many birthdays spent feeling guilty and ashamed 😞

But yesterday I just felt so grateful. So happy to be celebrating another year but with 4 stone less of me. The birthday cake will probably go stale because I'm not obsessing over it and even the abundance of Halloween and Christmas sweets in the shops is not bothering me. So blooming grateful for mounjaro.

Happy Belated Birthday!
Isn't it so refreshing when you realise the hold that 'treat' food doesn't have on you now. I still do 'Friday calories don't count', because that was always a welcome relief on traditional diets, but I love that having given myself the freedom to eat whatever on a Friday now, I'm just not that fussed. I'll have some Korean chicken or some chocolate, but enjoy a normal person amount rather than eating until I'm painfully full.
On a purely practical note, cake freezes very well!

Thanks @pinkart Yes! It's so liberating! I used to dread Halloween because I knew we would end up with a kitchen full of absolute shite, the kids would forget about the sweets or get sick of them within days but I would be constantly thinking about my next hit. I would spend days and days feeling bloated and absolutley disgusted with myself but could never bring myself to just bin the stupid sweets!

I'm much more excited by the Tuscan bean & kale soup currently sitting on my hob than any Halloween sweets in the shops 😂

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 19/10/2025 16:09

How times have changed. It was stuffing my self with chocolate during October half term break that made me order my first MJ pen. I was so embarrassed that in a matter of days I had munched through the whole Halloween stash by myself - so embarrassed and ill. My eating was spiralling out of control.

Happy belated birthday @SerenePeer The lasagna and cake have been well earned this year.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 19/10/2025 21:36

3 stone klaxon sounding for @Amelanchier! Slow but steady wins the race!

Happy birthday, @SerenePeer.

NSV: went shopping yesterday with my mum and sister. We did the same thing last October, and last year I felt awful trying everything on and ended up buying stuff for the sake of it rather than because I thought it looked particularly good. This year, I tried on jeans in Toast and Cos in a size 8 and they actually fit! I know they are notoriously large fitting, but who cares? Size 8!

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 19/10/2025 22:03

That’s called winning 🏅 @TooExtraImmatureCheddar and remember you don’t have to buy things just because they fit (as my daughter keeps reminding me 😂)

Belated Happy birthday! Hope you had the best day with your modest portions of lasagne and cake (👏👏) So happy to hear you enjoyed it for once..I totally recognise the disappointment of reaching another year being disappointed in yourself (again) and still not able to wear what you want so it’s wonderful you feel happier this year!. I’ve bought the ubiquitous tins of celebrations/heroes/QS/Roses which are all safely ensconced in my secret hiding place under the stairs where DH doesn’t look. In prior years I’d have cracked them open by now and not realised how many I’d scoffed mindlessly. I’d actually forgotten about them until you mentioned Christmas sweets. I live in the middle of nowhere so we don’t get trick or treaters so I’ve no need for Halloween sweeties (thankfully)

I agree. I literally cannot remember the last time I had a McDonalds. And I don’t want one either. I’d rather have a lovely steak salad. DH and I had some chocolate buttons yesterday morning with a coffee whilst watching Tulsa King and they were lovely but to use the phrase ‘beforetimes’ in those days the appearance of cadburys would make an appearance more than once a week…

Happy birthday @SerenePeer! Your new skirt sounds lovely - is it midi or mini length? Like you I’d reach for knee boots first (especially for midi length), but I suspect the yoof would be going for pointy toe slingbacks & socks-over-sheer-tights right now. I always think suede calls for texture clashes - a silk top, or a chunky knit. And if it’s a-line, maybe a fitted jacket that shows off your waist? (I’m really excited about waists coming back just as I’ve found mine again!)

@TooExtraImmatureCheddarI know exactly what you mean about the large cut size 8s. I went into an M&S this weekend and found a pair of 8 Long jeans, so I thought WTH - I’ll give them a try. And they fit! Now there are a lot of caveats - they had a bit of stretch, I did poof slightly over that waist band, and the long sizes at M&S are always slightly bigger than the regular, and M&S cuts generously anyway, but as you say it was a SIZE EIGHT. So I did not feel tempted to buy them (thank you, @TheSlimmingPumpkin) because my slightly loose M&S 10Ls are just fine and look better, but being able to do up the 8s was an ego boost and a half.

@MounjaropenI am now deep into Pvolve and I love it. All that deep glute work is the best/hardest bit of Pilates and so good for supporting running, too. I’m travelling this week for work and play have found some body weight and minimal equipment workouts I think I can do in hotel rooms, which is great when I’m still in the start-off stage. Can’t believe you’re doing 2 classes a day right now though - you will be in amazing shape for Christmas!

Congrats @Amelanchieron your 3 stone loss, that’s fantastic progress. And I have to echo the point that slower loss means fewer adverse effects - you are likely avoiding the dreaded hair loss, for one thing. 💪

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 20/10/2025 08:44

Oh no they don’t have my size in stock @SerenePeer. I was last size 16 in May/beginning of June 😂

Mounjaropen · 20/10/2025 09:17

SerenePeer · 20/10/2025 08:36

I can't seem to attach a photo annoyingly, but it's like this one https://www.roman.co.uk/petite-suede-a-line-skirt-17072789

Lovely!

I think for the Office, you won’t go wrong in a crisp white shirt or maybe a cream satin shirt with gold buttons, nude tights and a pair of nude courts or sling backs. Lots of gold jewellery. You could also introduce a leopard print on the shoe with that combo. Or go for a similar styling to the one in the picture – Holland Cooper do some nice roll necks with chunky gold buttons Go for either black or chocolate brown with the same in tights and boots underneath. For casual Friday office, maybe a denim shirt? With that length skirt you don’t want too much bulk on the visible part of your leg so I’d probably veer towards a heeled shoe (sling backs also good here) rather than a boot. If heels aren’t possible, flats should be pointy not round toed. Ditto boots IMO.

Glad you’re enjoying it! It is surprisingly good isn’t it? My fave trainers are Maeve, Dani, AV, Julie-Ann, Zach and Mel. I’m contacting them today about sourcing the new equipment (the booty bands and body bands) so I can fully join in on the latest GLP-1 programme. Zach did give me a heads up back in August at the live event that something would be coming.

Oooh thanks @mounjaropen ! I have leopard heels that haven't seen the light of day in a long time. Also have a lovely blue shirt somewhere that I think would go perfectly - i was stuck on polo necks tbh and hadn't thought of shirts!

The only way I manage to exercise is basically getting up early before my kids. I use YouTube videos with a mat and dumbbells.

Any recommendations? I've been mainly using Caroline Girvan 20-30min dumbbell workouts because they get you working hard in a short time period, but open to others for variety! I tend to drop the sound and listen to podcasts which makes it all less dull.

This morning I realised after my workout that the hot water wasn't working so my freezing shower was 'invigorating' (horrible).

I would wear a suede skirt with my new burgundy cashmere jumper, loads of gold jewellery and low block heels for the office, but I'm not v fashion forward.

jay55 · 20/10/2025 10:30

My stall is over. Woohoooooooo.

I'd not lost any new weight since August, was battling the same 2kg, then had my holiday gain, lost that and started to fight the same 2kg again. Friday the scales finally moved down and by today I’m almost a kilo under my low and so happy things are shifting again.

I have realised that I wasn’t noticing water retention in my legs(other than after my hols) because they are so much smaller than they were, the water logged days still loooked small to me. It was only putting on some old PJs that are a few sizes too big, and finding them tight in the calf that made me notice.

So am upping my water and keeping an eye on things.
