We have all been on for over a year now

Last month the year before , we gathered our courage and started what would be a memorable journey for us all - made some hopefully forever friends

Gather round my little auggies 😍 and we are all doing amazingly so be proud of yourselves

The amount of weight per person lost varies from 1-2stone - 3-4 - 5-6 - 7+
in a year

We are amazing !!!

All of us have totally changed our body shape - reduced our bmi and weight and hopefully improved our health

Some are at goal - and working out how to maintain - some nearing it
And some still have weight they want to lose

We are still here cheering you on till you get to your happy weight so please do carry on posting

Some have stopped for cost - esp after the aug announcements - still so thankful we started it when we did

Imagine Aug 25 and being told 2/3w later prices were increasing lots - I def couldn’t have managed a year of mj at new sept prices esp as doses didn’t really effect me even 15 !

Blowing baby dust your way to those who are ttc

ALL of us have lost weight and I love the fact we are all so supportive to each other over weight and our general day to day lives

This year will almost be harder. To keep the weight off Esp if reducing dose or off completely

I saw my orthopaedic consultant today, hoping the insurance company will cover it and the physio I need to get myself ready. If they don’t we will find the money as he’s told me it’s at least 18 months wait on the nhs.

Weepixie · 18/09/2025 03:15

Im sorry, I’m in a hurry today so very briefly.

firstly - the pain aspect of how Mounjaro has helped people I understand completely. And
In fact I even said to a lady on another thread recently that it could perhaps help her with her alcohol addiction and could she ask about it. I know it has benefits that are being discovered as time goes by. But regards to pain - surely if surgery was available to cure the source of your pain you’d have it and not say no thanks, I’ll just live the rest of my life on painkillers because they’re available?

Re the mention of diabetes. We’re not diabetics and being on any drug long term/life long for a medical condition is very different to developing a mental or emotional dependency for any drug that we may been prescribed in the short term. And that’s what I’m seeing with Mounjaro - drug dependency. And yes we all accepted the possibility of side effects when we decided to start Mounjaro but surely if we got away without them first time round you really really wouldn’t want to chance your luck a second or third time round. And I’m pretty sure diabetics are warned about side effects as well - they’re not immune to them because they’re diabetic.

Also, can people really not see how a persons body reacts to something like Mounjaro if you’re a diabetic, and how it reacts to using it for weight loss in a healthy body could have very different effects on your body long term/intermittently as a means to an end.

The maintenance/coming of Mounjaro threads have been a real eye opener and not in a good way. I’m just very disappointed by what I’m reading a lot of the time, and not only here.

All the best going forward girls. ❤️

Weepixie · 17/09/2025 18:51

Motnight, a heartfelt question here - do you have any hope at all regarding a future without Mounjaro? It’s a drug, do you not worry about taking a medication forever, or long term, when it would be so much healthier for you if you could stop. I liken it to me having high BP before I started this, I also was prediabetic and had been told my cholesterol might have to be medicated. Now those health problems have gone and I’m so pleased but Im equally pleased I don’t have to take medications anymore. Why would we continue to take a medication when we can sort the problem it was intended to help with and not have to use it anymore? Is it not better for our health to not be on medication if we can help it? I think what’s prompted this question apart from seeing what people are going through to get the Mounjaro is reading other threads here and seeing how dependent a lot of people now are on Mounjaro mentally. Should we let ourselves develop high BP because we can take medication for it? And shouldn’t we be fighting getting fat again instead of thinking - I’ll just not stop taking Mounjaro or I’ll just go back on it if I regain weight because that’s what the medication is there for.

Im very confused by it all. Actually it’s more than that. I’m dismayed, truth be told.

Edited

@Weepixie don't be dismayed on my account. I think that we might have had very different journeys regarding obesity and using MJ. I still have to make determined choices every day to eat well. Your language around 'letting ourselves' and 'fighting' suggests that you think some (all?) of us deliberately choose to overeat. I can't overstate that for me MJ is currently an essential tool to help me regain my health. If I have to stay on it for life I will. It's not that deep.

Same as @Motnight. I’m happy with my choices

as I have lost weight before and put it on and more , I don’t want to risk the same thing happening so if I need to stay on a low dose I will

PoemsForTea · 18/09/2025 14:25

@Weepixie Mounjaro has reduced my BP to normal, If I were to stop I will be back on amlodipine pretty sharpish. Then there is the return to daily painkillers for arthritis and joint pain - I don't remember taking pain relief once in the last year.
I imagine the IBS will be back with a vengeance too - so more meds needed there.
I fully intend to continue MJ on what ever the lowest dose / schedule that I can.
That's not dependence - that's the proper and sensible strategy for me and my health.

FurForksSake · 18/09/2025 14:42

Good afternoon! I’ve been in to Banbury and had a bimble around the shops. Bought myself some size small pyjamas!

im going to be starting hydrotherapy (and physio) on Tuesday, has anyone had hydro? I think I need to get to decathlon and get a new swimsuit!

Consultant has told me not to let the gp give me gabapentin or amitryptiline as it will not help with my pain and he’s happy for me to be on naproxen and cocodamol and nothing stronger as he’s worried I’m going to become a chronic pain case. The physio and hydro is supposed to desensitise and build muscle but he’s warned me I’m going to be in even more pain for a while.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/09/2025 15:02

That’s what I’m on @FurForksSake plus omeprezole

OP posts:
FurForksSake · 18/09/2025 15:19

It’s weird mine always gives me lansoprasole and I don’t know why!

ive been taking the cocodamol for a few weeks and its not very helpful.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/09/2025 17:15

Tbh L is better then O

Both Lansoprazole and Omeprazole are commonly used to treat acid reflux. Studies have shown that Lansoprazole acts faster than Omeprazole in relieving acid reflux symptoms. However, both medications effectively heal esophagitis, the inflammation in your oesophagus caused by stomach acid.

Lansoprazole (LAN) and omeprazole (OME) heal esophagitis effectively and to similar extents, but LAN has a faster effect on the relief of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux.

That’s really interesting!

Azuresky68 · 18/09/2025 17:56

@Blondeshavemorefun and @FurForksSake interesting to hear about pain relief. The pain is really taking it's toll now. Been on Naproxen plus Lanzoporol for 2 days now plus codeine and paracetamol but still in pain and feeling sick. I was on tramadol many years ago but it made me feel awful.
What is your advice about amaltryptiline and
gabapentin please?
Feeling a bit desperate at the moment as I can't see an end to the pain.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/09/2025 18:01

I haven’t used them but co codimal generally work for me. Was on 8 a day. Now 4

soemtimes 2 but then do the school run and think nope need 2m ore so usually on 4

so mj has halved my medication painwise

Azuresky68 · 18/09/2025 18:06

Regarding the discussion about staying on MJ or stopping it. I would be happy to stay on MJ for ever. My life has been transformed by it. My blood pressure hasn't lowered at all but I am OK with that at my age. Sadly no difference to my back pain.

Thanks Blondes. I have taken co-codomol in the past but it doesn't really agree with me. So until recently I usually managed with just paracetamol.

MabelSpan · 18/09/2025 18:11

@Azuresky68 I have amitriptyline for my back. It is for nerve pain, and if I remember correctly, yours is muscular? So I would imagine thats why it hasnt been suggested for you.

I would also be happy to stay on MJ long term, as you all know I take less than 5mg, but that is enough to turn off the self destructive food noise, its definitely worth staying on it for that alone.

Azuresky68 · 18/09/2025 18:11

@FurForksSake good luck with the hydrotherapy. I really hope it helps. What are the pj's like?

Azuresky68 · 18/09/2025 18:13

I feel for you with your back pain @Azuresky68 have you though of trying some gentle taichi exercise? I have no idea if it would help, but I feel like we all need to find a solution to your suffering somehow! 😊

FurForksSake · 18/09/2025 18:41

@Azuresky68consultant was very encouraging about seeing very good (non-nhs) physios and hydro for pain management through building supportive muscle and desensitisation.

pjs are one pair of grey ribbed slightly snuggle long sleeved and one pair of long bottoms and short sleeve top in grey and burgundy. They had lots of Disney and character stuff that really isn’t my thing.

I’m wearing size small Primark pyjamas. I could have bought the xs quite easily. Mind blown!

I’ve decided with my surgery in November I’m going to inject back at 7 days or even six to get my last few pounds off. I don’t want the pressure of thinking about maintenance right now. In the new year I will start reducing / spacing.

Thanks for your kind thoughts. I used to do Pilates and have tried many other things too..physio, osteopath, chiropractor, massage, acupuncture. Nothing has really worked. It was manageable for a good few years but suddenly got really bad 👎

morbidcuriosity · 18/09/2025 21:42

Ah, @Blondeshavemorefun that's reassuring from them, I'm glad. as they were going to be my go to when i run out, they seem the cheapest and maintenance friendly so all good!
