We have all been on for over a year now

Last month the year before , we gathered our courage and started what would be a memorable journey for us all - made some hopefully forever friends

Gather round my little auggies 😍 and we are all doing amazingly so be proud of yourselves

The amount of weight per person lost varies from 1-2stone - 3-4 - 5-6 - 7+
in a year

We are amazing !!!

All of us have totally changed our body shape - reduced our bmi and weight and hopefully improved our health

Some are at goal - and working out how to maintain - some nearing it
And some still have weight they want to lose

We are still here cheering you on till you get to your happy weight so please do carry on posting

Some have stopped for cost - esp after the aug announcements - still so thankful we started it when we did

Imagine Aug 25 and being told 2/3w later prices were increasing lots - I def couldn’t have managed a year of mj at new sept prices esp as doses didn’t really effect me even 15 !

Blowing baby dust your way to those who are ttc

ALL of us have lost weight and I love the fact we are all so supportive to each other over weight and our general day to day lives

This year will almost be harder. To keep the weight off Esp if reducing dose or off completely

@Weepixie don't be dismayed on my account. I think that we might have had very different journeys regarding obesity and using MJ. I still have to make determined choices every day to eat well. Your language around 'letting ourselves' and 'fighting' suggests that you think some (all?) of us deliberately choose to overeat. I can't overstate that for me MJ is currently an essential tool to help me regain my health. If I have to stay on it for life I will. It's not that deep.

without meaning to be flippant at all - all roads lead to Rome.

I still have to make determined choices every day to eat well

Doesnt everyone? Is it such a bad thing? Can’t we take those determined choices and use them positively instead of being afraid of them. Surely it’s better to empower ourselves than limit ourselves with our thoughts.

Your language around 'letting ourselves' and 'fighting' suggests that you think some (all?) of us deliberately choose to overeat

Yes and I heard that myself when writing my post. I also realised it could be said I was sharing some of the same opinions as the ugly people we have posting on WLI. So with regards to that I’ll admit after a year of being on Mounjaro and from what I’m reading on the WLB’s I can now see more of the other side of the argument. It’s being played out on these threads everyday, as more and more people reach their target weight. But going back to overeating, the reality is that regardless of why we overate, if we don’t get to the root cause of it and deal with it we are choosing to deliberately overeat. We’re anaesthetising ourselves with food.

I can't overstate that for me MJ is currently an essential tool to help me regain my health. If I have to stay on it for life I will. It's not that deep

There are so many more things we can use as a tool to help us stay healthy - the root cause of our over eating being one of them. Good health - is taking any medication long term an indication of good health, even when it’s for very valid health reasons.

@Weepixie Mounjaro has reduced my BP to normal, If I were to stop I will be back on amlodipine pretty sharpish. Then there is the return to daily painkillers for arthritis and joint pain - I don't remember taking pain relief once in the last year.
I imagine the IBS will be back with a vengeance too - so more meds needed there.
I fully intend to continue MJ on what ever the lowest dose / schedule that I can.
That's not dependence - that's the proper and sensible strategy for me and my health.

Hi there, I can well understand why you would want to stay on it and I think I did previously mention pain relief and other benefits to bring on Mounjaro.

My thoughts are more related to the people on the WLB’s who have reached target, don’t have heath or pain issues and have become emotionally dependent on Mounjaro etc and admit they can’t see a life without it, even periodically. If they gain weight, and they probably will because there just doesn’t seem to be any positivity or any desire in them to try and prevent it happening, they’ll just go back on Mounjaro.

Azuresky68 · 18/09/2025 18:06

Regarding the discussion about staying on MJ or stopping it. I would be happy to stay on MJ for ever. My life has been transformed by it. My blood pressure hasn't lowered at all but I am OK with that at my age. Sadly no difference to my back pain.

I’m sorry about the pain you live with, also that it’s not the kind of pain that reacts well to Mounjaro.

Im also happy your life has been transformed but you really do need to give yourself credit for being a huge part of that.

I read your posts and I genuinely think to myself - if Azure didn’t enjoy her tipple so much she’d have this cracked. And that isn’t a criticism about people having a drink which is what people can immediately think given my background - I have a drink. It’s not often and it’s not a lot when I do because of a gynae situation I have - anything that can cause changes in my urine can have me feeling for days as if my vulva is on fire and in the past I’ve drawn blood scratching myself it’s been so itchy. So I avoid my red wine or a nice gin (as well as some food stuffs) and I no longer have to use the strong steroid cream I previously used for a few years. It came with so many possible side effects and who the hell needs a tissue paper thin vulva

Once I worked out what was contributing to my flare ups of Vulval Lichen Sclerosus I stopped eating and drinking what was causing them.

It’s how I now feel about Mounjaro - I never want to take it again, I’ll do whatever I have to do not to take it again and I was very naive when I thought most people would want the same.

Motnight · 19/09/2025 07:17

@Weepixie I think that I have said all that I need to concerning decisions that I have made around my health and reasons why. It boils down to one thing for me - my body, my (informed) choice.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/09/2025 08:17

Wouldn’t that be nice @FurForksSake

@Blondeshavemorefun aren't bodies bizarre things?!

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/09/2025 09:06

Very weird @Motnight. I went to gain next week as I don’t think 10.4 is a good weight for me at bmi 22

@Weepixie I'm really interested in your perspective. I'd prefer not to have to stay on it forever either, just like I'd prefer not to stay on any of my medications forever. I don't really know what caused my obesity, but I do know that my blood sugars are all over the place and that I feel is a big part of it. It is also possibly to do with undiagnosed ADHD.

I'd like to look at ways to try and address the cause(s), which is difficult when I don't know what they are or how they intersect. I'm thinking it would be a good idea to join OA during maintenance to address any of the emotional side at the very least. If if does turn out that this is a hormonal issue though, it might be that I need medication longer term to address it.

Periodically I try to come off anti-anxiety medications (I have GAD) but that always smacks me in the face eventually. Maybe it will be the same with WLIs - I just don't know yet.

@Azuresky68 my consultant told me if I was going through the nhs I’d have to dk six months with this team before they’d list me for 12 months to operate. As I’m private I’ve got to lots of prehab but they’ll operate in two months.

i was just having a nosey and there are some great resources, thought I’d share.

@Weepixie thanks for your input but would just like to be clear I am not a daily drinker at all. I couldn't have lost weight and stayed healthy on 1000 calories if I drank alcohol and ate crisps, chocolate, cakes, chocolate, pies etc. There's just no room for that on a weight loss diet for me. If you said I couldn't eat pizzas, crisps or chips ever again it wouldnt bother me at all. We are all very different in what we enjoy. I do enjoy an alcoholic drink in moderation, but not daily and will not be giving up on that 😅🍸
We also have different opinions about staying on or coming off MJ too and that's OK too.
Each to their own is what I would say and haven't we all done well 😊 Let's continue to celebrate our success in our lovely thread ❤️

Azuresky68 · 19/09/2025 16:46

@FurForksSake thanks so much for the link. I have had a quick look at it. In my forties I attended a very similar 6 week course to the one here..it was really helpful. I will definitely look at the resources on the link too.
My best hope is to have a multifidus implant to help with the pain. My condition cannot be treated by surgery. No idea what the waiting list is for this. Fingers crossed 🤞

owlyboo · 19/09/2025 20:00

hey everyone. Been dipping in. In regards to staying on MJ I think it’s a personal choice. I’m in the ‘would rather not be on medication longer than needs be camp’ hence why I came off MJ but understand it’s all very personal. Went out for lunch and afternoon drinks with a friend today and picked up a new outfit for drinks for a friends birthday tomorrow. Forever grateful to be in this new body and picking up something that looks nice and it looking nice on. Outfit of today attached.

@weepixie I think the price increase, the rush to buy pens (myself included i bought 2 x 2.5mg pens that were always in my taperingg off plan) followed by the shortage of some doses did cause panic. And that feeling makes people scared about a choice being taken away from them. It can change our emotional state and our decisions.

I think that once all this has died down, some people will regain their confidence in their original approach and come off MJ completely.

However I also think it is sensible to set ourselves up with a prescriber who has a flexible maintenance approach. None of us want to regain our lost pounds, and we will all have different ways of trying to ensure that. But many of us have been here before. I see nothing wrong with having an 'insurance' option with a prescriber. It's what I have with my home insurance, but I still make sure I lock the door and set the alarm when I leave.

My aim us to move towards a one month on, one month off regime until I am as certain as I can be that I have learnt all I can, and addressed as many habits as I can.
