Anybody just starting Wegovy?

Hi all, been reading some threads with interest but wondering if there’s anybody on Wegovy that would like to share progress? Or any stories / tips etc from people further along.

About me, I am 44 and just not losing the excess weight like I used to and so have finally taken the plunge and started on Wegovy.

I guess I chose Wegovy due to the proposed price increases of Mounjaro, also, I thought Wegovy might be a bit more slow and steady as I only want to lose a few stone. Although I could be wrong about that, but we’ll see.

I have ordered through Juniper and they sent me a set of scales which pair to the app so I don’t need to manually record my weight, it does it for me.

I’m not sure how accurate the scales are though so I will also probably keep an eye on my own scales.

I had thought my starting weight was 12 stone 7 but I weighed on Juniper scales just now and it says 12 stone 10. I think for the purposes of tracking and discussion here I’ll just use 12 stone 10.

This is almost the biggest I have ever been. Following the birth of my third child I was 13 stone and I managed to get down to 11 and a half, but despite my efforts, I’m now back up at 12 stone 10.

I took first jab this evening, seemed straightforward. Don’t feel any different yet. I could eat, but not starving, going to try not to have anything this evening although I think that will probably require sheer will power as probably too soon for the jab to have any effect.

So,
Starting weight: 12 stone 10
Current weight: 12 stone 10
Waist: 30.5 inches
Target weight: 10 stone 9

Morning @MincedMalbecEverythibg has stalled a bit for me. As of today I’m back up at almost 11 stone 2.

I do feel a bit conflicted.

Wegovy has worked great for me. I did one pen of 0.25, then moved up to 0.5 but I then just stayed there. Think this is my third pen of 0.5. Obviously the Wegovy protocol is to have moved up after one pen of 0.5, so it was my decision to stay at 0.5.

Things have definitely stalled but reluctant to go up a pen.

So I’ll need to make a decision whether to stick at 0.5 or go up a dose. At 0.5 I have no symptoms, but I wonder if it’s now not doing anything.

I have joined a gym (reluctantly, as the only one near me is overpriced for what it is, but captive market) and I’m hoping to make some progress that way.

I guess I’ll give it another week and make a decision. I only really want to get down to maybe 10 stone 8, although that might change as I thought at this weight I would have seen a bigger difference in my appearance (although I am mainly doing it for health reasons).

Just ordered from Simple Online Pharmacy. They didn’t accept my photos as not clear what my weight is so need to take again. Not sure how much more clear I can make them tbh. I had leggings and a vest top. Annoying as already took the money from me .

Where did you order from?

blondebombsite13 · 22/11/2025 12:08

@LittleCarrot12 I order from Juniper and happy with them. DM me if you want any advice or a discoun t code.

If the place you have ordered from don’t dispense it they will refund the money, it shouldn’t take long.

Just got message to say my order has shipped . Feel nervous now ! Any tips of what you would do differently if you were to start again?

MincedMalbec · 24/11/2025 08:43

@blondebombsite13 I hear you with the decision around going up a dose again. I guess the question is what is the long term plan? If you go up a dose to lose more its possibly then harder to maintain your optimum weight when you want to come off the medication. If its slower but sustainable that is better. If you decide to really get into the gym i suggest doing full body measurements once a month as the muscle you build will affect your weight loss so it will be difficult to tell the progress initially. Regarding the symptoms if you go up a pen, i have had mild sicky feeling and heartburn but that's about it. You shouldn't get anything too bad if you have been doing this a few months. It might be worth you trying one pen at 1mg with a plan to go back down to 0.5 after 1 month.

blondebombsite13 · 24/11/2025 08:54

Morning @MincedMalbec

Yes, these are exactly my thoughts.

I am getting despondant (no movement on the scales again today) but I’m leaning towards staying on the 0.5 and really trying to make a go of the gym.

As you say, it’s about long term. I could increase the dose, lose more weight, but still have no muscle tone or strength, and that’s not what I want as I head into menopause.

I’d love to be able to wear short sleeved tops and that’s not going to happen with weight loss alone. I need to strengthen and tone my arms. At the moment I have some lovely dresses etc but always have to wear a cardigan on top due to my arms.

I do also have a gym at my work that I can use. But I have put it off due to embarrassment of colleagues seeing me, but I think I might just need to push through this as it would be time efficient if I could go on lunch breaks etc.

I went to my local gym yesterday. I struggle to get time away from the kids, I also find the gym incredibly boring, so I was only there for 37 minutes. But if I tried to do an hour I would just get demotivated. I was also there on Friday for 49 minutes.

I still find running hard, due to the extra weight I am carrying, but I liked using all the weight machines. I did glutes, arms, pectorals, ab cruncher. Just short bursts on each but I can feel it in my muscles now so hopefully doing something. I then did 2k on exercise bike and rowed for 1500m.

I know it’s not much but it’s far more than I was doing before so that has to count for something?

I really hope I can keep it up.

MincedMalbec · 24/11/2025 12:59

@blondebombsite13 yeah you're doing the right things at the gym and it is the better way alongside the meds. The gym is really boring. Its only good if i have a friend with me and we do it sort of together or a good podcast, but like you, i cannot create the time to get there and certainly not for long. I can justify outdoor running and take the dog so that's two jobs in one! I think you should just go to your work gym. There are all shapes and sizes of people and no-one actually cares what anyone else is doing, you'll be cool just for going!! and try not to be too demoralised, you've done brilliantly so far and it will progress!

blondebombsite13 · 26/11/2025 09:15

Morning 👋

@MincedMalbecyes, you’re right, I do need to start using the gym at work. I’m just getting ready for a shift just now and will be taking my gym gear and hopefully go later this afternoon for half an hour or so.

still not much progress on the scales but back down into 11 .1 territory after being stuck at 11.2 for what seemed like ages (after a brief dip to 11.0!!)

going to try and take a quick progress pic before work and see if I can see any difference, although I don’t think I’ve lost any inches either.

either way, still reluctant to go up a dose. I have pretty much no side effects on this dose (apart from constipation. Although it’s not really constipation as such. I’m not uncomfortable. Just aware that I’m not really pooing and I should be.)

anyway, even though the side effects I did have were pretty mild, I’d rather not increase the dose and go back to them.

Hiya! I’m feeling a bit of a fraud being on this thread as ended up staying on MJ for now! This will end once my current jabs run out in about 9 weeks as really can’t afford it .

Despite that Just offering another perspective- that if you need to move up dose to lose more weight then that money is better spent.

I feel that what happens afterwards will probably happen whatever dose you end up on as you’ll wean down again anyway.

I think we all just tell ourselves what we feel is our reality which is fine and it really is very individual! Just do what feels right for you & gets you results!

blondebombsite13 · 26/11/2025 19:51

@Seahorsesplendouryes, good point. And that kind of is what I was worried about. Basically paying for 0.5 to maintain my weight….when I’m not actually at my goal weight.

I’ve got 2 more jabs of 0.5 in this pen so I’ll make a decision maybe next week.

how are you doing?

OP posts:
Seahorsesplendour · 26/11/2025 22:07

@blondebombsite13 I’m 4st 10lb down since May! Now (just increased) to 12.5mg managed on 10mg for 3 months then big stall increased and had a good whoosh!!

hoping to hit 5st before Christmas! 3st left to go …

biz456 · 30/11/2025 09:42

Hey everyone, been a while since I’ve posted. @blondebombsite13 I’ve just completed 4 weeks on 0.25mg and I felt like my appetite was normal. I was a bit deflated with that but I’m going up to 0.5mg, just put the order through so I hope I start to feel some sort of supression.

blondebombsite13 · 30/11/2025 10:04

Oh that’s annoying I just wrote a big post and it somehow deleted.

so I’ll keep it brief @biz456

I think that’s normal. 0.25 is really just to get your body used to the meds. 0.5 is where things start to happen, I think.

When I moved up to 0.5 I was sitting down to dinner and only managing a few mouthfuls. Weight was coming down and I could see big changes. When I went to bed at night my tummy was rumbling becuase it was empty, but the thought of food just didn’t appeal. Weight was obviously dropping off.

I was happy with this rate of loss so I stuck at 0.5 and am now halfway through my third pen. But in realising I am getting hungry, do crave certain foods, and just generally feel like before. Maybe staying fuller longer though so eating smaller quantities.

but I do wonder if I’m wasting my money staying on 0.5 as it’s possibly now doing nothing and I either need to go up a dose, or come off it?

weight seems stuck but I’m going to the gym and trying to make good choices, so I’ll see what happens over the next week.

have you lost anything on0.25?

MincedMalbec · 30/11/2025 10:10

Hi I’ve just had my third dose of 0.25. So it’s been two weeks since starting and I definitely feel fuller for longer. I’ve lost 4lbs. I guess we all just have different starting points and tolerances.

I do think moving up makes sense now and you can come back down whenever you want.

AmberLime · 30/11/2025 10:43

Are you able to microdose from a Wygovy pen, like you can with Mounjaro? For example to take 0.5mg from a 1mg pen?

(I know it's not recommended, I'm wondering if it's possible).

I'm trying to consider the most cost effective option. I currently microdose 7.5mg from a 15mg Mounjaro pen - which means that the £340 pen lasts 11 weeks with the bonus dose - so about £120 per 4 weeks. I wonder if I could do similar on Wygovy, as a maintenance plan, so the cost is even lower?

(I order regularly to not have a big order gap)

blondebombsite13 · 30/11/2025 12:31

@AmberLimei don’t think so. I would worry about wasting the dose, I don’t think the pen can really be stopped once you press the button.

I’ll see how I go this week.

There’s no denying 0.5 worked really well for me but the effects do seem much less now. But on the flip side, so are the side effects (not that I really had much in the way of side effects anyway though).

OP posts:
LittleCarrot12 · 01/12/2025 07:35

So I’m one week in. Noticed I’m fuller quicker. Eating my 3 meals but smaller portions and no urge to snack. My Fitbit tracking shows my expenditure higher than incoming.
weighed myself this morning and I’ve gained 3 lbs!!! How can that be? Not water weight as had that the week before I started. I’m so down

mumzof4x · 01/12/2025 10:23

@LittleCarrot12 I’m not much further on that you. Took third jab this morning and weighed in this morning after two full weeks. I’m 6lbs down but like you I think I gained at least two initially. Im happy with that.
Will order the 0.5 next week when I’ve completed 4 weeks on 0.25
Amyone else’s taste buds affected? I tried some red wine a couple of times and it was like vinegar!!

LittleCarrot12 · 01/12/2025 13:53

6 lbs in a few weeks is great. I’ll stick with it and see how I go next week.

HangryBrickShark · 01/12/2025 13:56

Fifth week on Wegovy having swapped from Mounjaro. Early thoughts are that it doesn't seem as effective as Mounjaro although its a damn sight cheaper.

Haven't really had many side effects lika i did with Mounjaro, probably not as tired as I was on Mounjaro but more headachey. However, there's a lot of bugs going around so I'm not really sure.

Good luck.

blondebombsite13 · 03/12/2025 09:12

Morning all,

Finally a small movement on the scale from me. Been hovering at 11.2 for ages, have now seen 11.0 on the scales again for the second time (caught a glimpse of it weeks ago but it was fleeting).

I’ve had 3 doses of my 3rd pen of 0.5 and it really is time now to “piss or get off the pot” - ie move up to the next dose, or just stop taking it.

I’m still swinging both ways about it. I don’t have any side effects but also feel like I no longer have much suppression. So I kind of feel like I’m already going it alone and do wonder if I’ve already built good habits and can manage alone now.

On the other hand, despite having lost a huge amount of weight, which I have never managed to before, there is no denying I am still big. There’s still a lot of fat on my body and it would be good to not have that.

It makes me very sad because I’m realising just how deluded I was before and can’t believe I let myself get so big.

I had a very small routine procedure on Monday (I’m fine) which will make it difficult for me to get to the gym this week, but hoping to get back to it next week, and will try and stay as active as I can in small ways.

If anybody has any good recipe ideas it might be fun to share them?

Also, for anybody reading this who’s considering starting - I get mine through Juniper and the app has a virtual assistant who can ask questions. It’s AI, but don’t need to pay for it like ChatGPT etc so I find it very useful. And as I discovered recently you can ask it anything, doesn’t have to be weight loss related, so I’ve been using it quite a lot Grin happy to give discoint codes if anyone wants one.

Anyway, I can tell her what I have in the fridge and ask her what I can make. So it’s pretty useful.

But also open to any good recipe ideas you guys have.

I was snacking on cashews and raisins yesterday but I know the fat content of those is HIGH, so really need to stop that.

Happy Wednesday all Smile

You have done well @blondebombsite13 . I’m annoyed I’ve let myself go but had a really tough 5 years and I wasn’t a priority.

I’m only 1 week in so too early to tell but disappointed I never lost this week.
Worryingly, my resting heart rate has gone from 72-74 in average to 80bpm. Apparently normal for these jags but seeing that effect on my body is a real eye opener. I suspect I’ll finish my 4 weeks and move on

blondebombsite13 · 03/12/2025 16:54

@LittleCarrot12Yes I also had a tough few years and wasn’t a priority. Hearing you say that made me realise that was for the case for me. How sad that it seems to be so common for women. Our bodies, health and wellbeing should always be a priority.

You are only on week 1, don’t be despondent! I put weight on right at the beginning.

It really does work.

Although I would like to lose a bit more, losing the weight I have has been game changing for me. I’ve tried for years to shift it and just haven’t been able to. So I feel so happy that I am already healthier.

I don’t have any experience of the heart rates, I’m afraid. Have you ran it past someone? GP or wherever you are getting the medication from?

There are all kinds of possible side effects, but many are due to not eating enough, or not drinking enough water etc, as opposed to directly linked to the medication.

OP posts:
MincedMalbec · 06/12/2025 08:22

Morning all. I have been on these for 3 weeks now and i have lost 7lbs. I am really pleased with this. I would say though, that for the last few days i've wanted to eat more than the previous weeks but i have used my will power and when i have eaten, my dinner for example, i still feel fuller quicker. I feel this is striking a good balance of jabs and will power combined so that i can "train" myself for life after the jabs! Hope you are all getting on well!

LittleCarrot12 · 06/12/2025 10:55

Morning. I think that’s key @MincedMalbec . I’m week 2 (gained weight last week) and had a rough time the last 24 hours. Sulphur burps were awful yesterday and been up since 1am being sick. I’ve barely ate since Jab 2 as the nausea was so bad so whatever was in my stomach must have been there for ages.

My stomach is very swollen and sore today. What I do eat is healthy so hoping just a blip.
