Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

I'm 5'8" and aiming for 12 stone too! I was also the same starting weight as you, but I lost a little before starting MJ with intermittent fasting, so my MJ starting weight was 15s 10lbs.

Seems we are very similar, @Somethingsnapped! My vitals:

Height: 5' 10".
SW: 15 st
GW: 12 st
BMI: 30

Well done on your loss and managing to resist the cakes! I've had similar side effects to you (headache and tiredness) since I started on Friday but nothing else. I realised yesterday though that my tummy isn't rumbling between meals anymore. Have you noticed that? I'm taking that as suppression! I've not had anything else, no sickness, no being put off food, no feeling too full to eat. Thank i might need some dulcolax today though as I seem to have the opposite toileting problem to what I was expecting 😅
I use nutracheck to track my calories and its really user friendly, I'd definitely recommend, seems to be cheaper than myfitnesspal too.

Good luck to everyone jabbing for the first time today!

@JustPickleRick Yes, it sounds like we've had a very similar first week! I was definitely getting quite hungry before meals at the end of the week though and I am also logging everything on Nutracheck, but I really need to keep an eye on my portion sizes.

@Chopsy123 Yes, I definitely think/hope period hormones might be messing with my hunger levels and results.

I messed up my second injection this afternoon. I primed the pen then forgot to twist to one before I inserted it! I ended up taking it out and reinserting which hurt a bit as the needle was blunter by that point. Afterwards, I realised I should have changed the needle, so I guess I might have a bit of bruising. Silly me!

It’s weird. Normally I would plow through a packet of biscuits in an evening- I don’t fancy one but also at a bit of a loss.

i might sort out a cupboard

Hi guys, looks like yous are all doing fab with the jabs. We have decided to go on holiday hopefully from tomorrow so I am going to wait and start my jab when I get back from holiday as don't want to risk side effects etc when on holiday.

Whichwitchwould · 01/09/2025 20:45

I feel like I could eat bad food if I wanted to but it's just giving me enough reprieve that I can think about it and decline. Hoping this is a good thing for building better habits.

I take my second dose tomorrow night, so gonna weigh on wed morning as W2D1. Interested to see! I keep imagining where i could be by the end of the year and it keeps me going

A few days ago I resorted to setting up a reminder on my phone to drink water... it's helped me reach 2.5l... but now I'm peeing like a racehorse...!

Thanks, I might have to give this a try.... 1.25L so far not sure I'm going to get to 2 today 🙄

outofofficeagain · 01/09/2025 20:50

I’ve made myself a little chart in my notebook and tick off every glass during the day

I am definitely a picker.... But haven't felt the urge today so hopefully this is good news for both of us...

I might try the alarm and notebook. I have never been good with non alcoholic consumption
2Ltr water... 'that is loads'
Bottle of wine numerous cocktails...'no problem'

Have you noticed any side effects? (other than the urge to sort out your cupboard 😜)

Seriously though, its 27 hrs since I injected... I had a 2hr unintended nap after work and feeling a little ache now... From reading posts this might be side effects... But if it stays like this not bad at all 🙌

outofofficeagain · 01/09/2025 20:59

Bit of a headache this afternoon and very tired mid-afternoon too.

I think lack of carbs/sugar might be a factor too. But nothing else so far 🤞

I've used the Harcombe diet - doing a close variation on that now - which completely cuts out carbs and doesn't mix fats and carbs at the same meal. The avoiding 'mixing' is a thing I'm not doing religiously - to do that and calorie count at the same time would be too fierce and very difficult to stick to - but on more of an 80/20 basis. I'm sticking to her recommended small quantities of 2oz brown rice, to which I'm adding some lentils but not bread, potatoes or pasta. I might have the odd bowl of porridge (same quantity 2 oz of oats) for variation. I'm also still having a large-sized cup of caffeinated coffee in the mornings.

On day 3 after cutting out all sugar and caffeine I suffer with the most godawful withdrawal symptoms. It's very possible it could be that. Sugar is such an addictive substance.

Welcome and congrats on all the first time jabbers.

another one to recommend nutra check for calories and macro tracking.

W3D1
SW 20st 9lbs
CW 20st 3lbs
GW not sure yet! Size 18 clothes would be fab!

My starting weight is very similar, 19st 3lbs. W1D3 today. I will check nutra check, I need something to track my calories. I’m using Oura ring meal tracker but that only shows general levels of protein/carbs etc.

I’m starting to feel hungry just before meal times but do feel full with a smaller portion than before. Food noise is still in my head but I’m trying hard to ignore it and keep reminding myself how much the injections cost 😄

JustPickleRick · 01/09/2025 21:16

With the water, I drink a pint first thing when I wake up and then I bought myself a 1.2l bottle which i know i need to drink 2 of each day. It has a straw and for some bizarre reason, its been easier/faster to drink 😅 Ive been managing the 2 bottles plus the pint in the morning so hitting 2.9l each day. Its stopped me wondering how much i've drank as I know i just need to empty the 2 bottles through the day. Try a straw 😅

Nearly same, both! My SW was 19st 1lb, which I'm truly horrified by!

I had a decent enough first day back at work today, and then popped to the gym for a swim after, which was lovely! First proper swim I've done in two years!! I didn't realise it had been anywhere near that long. Luckily, I was able to hit the same pace per 100m as before.

@JustPickleRick I also have a 1.2l cup with a straw (knock off Stanley) I've drunk and refilled it three times today! Even more than usual, but the swim did make me stupidly thirsty.

How have the other education people got on today?

Similar to me too! SW 18st13lbs

I'm on day 6

maz99 · 01/09/2025 22:49

Snap @MoreIcedLattePlease I'm 19st 1lb too...!

Snap... my starting weight is also 19st 3lbs too...!

I had the oddest combo for dinner, but it was very tasty - king prawns tail-on stir fried with frozen cauliflower rice, air fried spiced sweet potato cubes (my new favourite food!) and sauteed button mushrooms (cooked yesterday, so had to use them up.

I did a home workout (walk away the pounds) instead of going to the gym... burned 360 calories, which is good since I was 100 calories over my allowance... lol

ladygin · 01/09/2025 23:03

@maz99those sweet potatoe cubes sound good ! How do you make them?

UnimaginableWindBird · 02/09/2025 05:50

@MoreIcedLattePlease is right - a straw makes a huge difference, and seems to make tap water nicer. I have one of these which has times down the side, and if you stick to the times, that's an easy 2l of water a day.

One day on from the first jab.... no particular side effects to report. Not overly hungry despite much smaller portions. Protein and water are very filling.

Hope everyone else is doing ok x

wodantimbercoaster · 02/09/2025 14:31

Hi everyone. I am starting this week. I have the Mounjaro in the fridge waiting. I plan to jab on Thursday evening as I WFH on Fridays and Mondays, so that gives me 4 straight days at home if needed in case of side effects! I'm quite nervous, mainly about the money. I have also downloaded nutracheck, even though I hate calorie counting and usually get on much better with intermittent fasting. I have at least 5 stone to lose though, so I obviously need to change things up!

UnimaginableWindBird · 02/09/2025 15:09

Hello @wodantimbercoaster! I'm planning on taking my first jab on Friday evening, and have a similar amount to lose, so we can compare notes.

NerrSnerr · 02/09/2025 15:18

Hi all. I have had my first Wegovy jab today. I have been trying and failing to lose weight for many years so hoping this will be the change for me.

Height- 5ft1
Start weight- 12st1
Goal- 9st.

I feel that 9 stone is a comfortable weight for me where I fit in a size 8-10.

Somethingsnapped · 02/09/2025 16:13

@SerafinasGoose We do seem to be very similar! It'll be interesting comparing notes as we go along. We're on the other thread together too, so should bump into each other quite often! 😀
