@cloudjumper I wouldn't be so sure it will never happen. I thought the same, that strong thighs, always have had chub rub no matter what I weigh - but those last few kilos suddenly gave me a thigh gap.

@MJalltheway yes, last kilos will make a difference! And also you seem to be really enjoying the exercise so i don't think a few weeks off will stop that. I personally couldn't wait to get back to gym.

@PenelopePoweringOn good luck with viewing, the place sounds lovely!

I have really exciting plans today, sorting the fridge and similar :D But weather is really lovely, will be 28 degrees tomorrow, so really have to get ourselves outside. First week of school and kids already have quite a bit of homework - luckily DD (she skipped a class this year) claims it's all good and it's apparently not hard at all. We will see..

Jins · 06/09/2025 13:12

Jab complete and purely because I’m sick of this pen hanging around I’ve done about half of what was left in it which is about 6.2mg worth. I’ve got a quiet week coming up if I get side effects. So much for sticking to 5mg and titrating down but my next jab will be closer to 5mg then I move to my next pen.

Not long to my holidays and I’ve tried on most of the clothes I might take and think I’ll get away with them. Could do with some better fitting trousers for the evening (I’m desperate to avoid mossie bite reactions) and I really need a plain black cami top to tie a couple of things together so I’ll get onto that. New swimwear can wait until next year now, bikinis and tankinis are ok and more use for days by the pool.

Might join the cocooners. DS2 is cooking for the two of us tonight and I’m still feeling shattered so once I’ve run the hoover round I might just retire to my bed and load my kindle.

DGonMJ · 06/09/2025 14:10

Afternoon losers!

@PenelopePoweringOn how was the viewing?

@MJalltheway belly fat was last to go for me. Took a while for my body to tighten up, the skin is now mainly just wrinkly rather then loose.

I’m another ‘ample’ thighed peasant, I don’t think I’ll ever have skinny legs and I weirdly feel quite smug about that. The lack of chub rub this summer was a delight. But to be honest, I was more pleased that I didn’t seem to feel the heat at all during the heatwave. No sweating on the tube. Just pleasantly warm.

I have not weighed today, I dipped below 58kg again yesterday, day one of period, so today I’m all about eating well. I’ve had a good two egg breakfast and I’ve made a gluten free quiche using up all the holiday cheese ends and some kale. Finished off the holiday bacon making the DC’s lunch. Also found an open pack of chia seeds and open desiccated coconut in the cupboard so have made chia & coconut puddings for later using a chatGPT recipe. It’s got some of my old protein powder in it but I really can’t stand the taste so I’m hoping the desiccated coconut, coconut milk and honey will have disguised it! Will also add berries and more toasted nuts later when we come to eat it.
Am in the mood for making some more healthy treats with the rest of the ingredients so going to do chocolate chia and coconut bites later/tomorrow.

I have my PT this afternoon - it’s been 4 weeks since my last session. We don’t go heavy-heavy while I’m on my period, so I’m hoping it’ll be a nice functional session and then see how heavy o can go next week.

Joining @HeidiLite’s exciting plans - my own exciting plan for this weekend is to clear out the bathroom drawers. They routinely get full of crap/samples that I ‘might need’. How much 6-12 month old open hand cream does a woman need?

PenelopePoweringOn · 06/09/2025 14:27

The cottage wins. The owner has moved abroad so I don't think I will receive a quick response to my very sensible offer. Fingers crossed, the agent thinks it might be Tuesday before we have a response 😫.

I wish I could share it with you all as I feel like it is just what @myladyjane (from memory) painted a picture of, obviously I won't do that but if it happens it will be great.

Lots of relaxing planned on here, I might do the same tomorrow, I'm feeling a bit wiped out myself, my sleep has been appalling recently, I feel like I am literally running on adrenaline.

I'm going to roast a chicken to make chicken noodle soup, I need comfort today.

Thelittlestranger · 06/09/2025 15:27

Exciting @PenelopePoweringOn !! I hope the offer is accepted!!

myladyjane · 06/09/2025 15:29

Oh @PenelopePoweringOn everything crossed!

I do think cocooning should be something people should build into their lives more if they can and need to. I come from a family of mostly outgoing introverts and was bought up with a respect for people having downtime as required (my mum in her garden, me and my dad with a book, my brother as the extrovert free to go off and people at his own pace). Through all the friends and kids and very people focused job that I mostly enjoy, it’s taken me to the last year or two to realise that I need to get a bit back to that and now the girls are able to manage themselves mostly I do enjoy doing it.

so I spent 2 days with Cormoran Strike and now I’ve resurfaced. Feel like a new woman (if anyone else has read it OMG).

discov · 06/09/2025 15:38

@PenelopePoweringOn how exciting! It sounds gorgeous from what you have described. The wait until Tuesday will be agonising!!

HeidiLite · 06/09/2025 16:04

@myladyjane no spoilers, I'm just finishing a Reacher book and have Cormoran next on the list

@DGonMJ I know the challenge, I love cosmetics, especially anything that comes in mini size, or any trial boxes. But of course I can't use them all - during last clear out, threw a massive bag of ancient lotions and potions away. Have finished the fridge, should tackle spice drawer next, or maybe the medicine cabinet?

@PenelopePoweringOn fingers crossed!

On another topic, I am having very mixed feelings at the moment. Went to the basement and planned to Vint a few winter things. Tried some on and omg how massive are they?

But..when I was wearing them, only earlier this year, I thought I looked fine. I mean, I was not happy with how I looked, but I thought it was only because I knew I have been a lot slimmer, and could look better. All photos were massively unflattering, but that's just photos. I thought that for everybody else, I looked fine, average, certainly not big or actually overweight.

Of course I did. What massive weight blindness..

PenelopePoweringOn · 06/09/2025 17:54

@myladyjane your post really resonates with me. I’m an introvert but manage a team and lots of relationships and I often feel peopled out and like I just can’t be bothered to socialise outside of work because I need downtime quiet. DC2 still lives here really needs time to herself, definitely an introvert.
I often watch a favourite film again just because I don’t need to think. Does anyone else do that?

I’m aware that I’ll soon be home alone and I will need to make an effort, but also aware that when I leave work and do some consulting I’ll be able to work alone more without expending tons of energy on mentoring/managing/maintaining relationships so perhaps I’ll not need to make such a supreme effort.

@HeidiLite I’m always impressed by your committee to actually selling stuff, I am yet to sell as much as a sock! Must get on with that really.

BlueLimes · 06/09/2025 18:13

@myladyjane i love the books and have read them all. Which one ?
@PenelopePoweringOn so hope you get your cottage.

I’ve been to gym, will weigh on Wednesday.
Agree re cocooning - it’s ok to put yourself first sometimes.

myladyjane · 06/09/2025 18:49

@BlueLimes the new one :). Hallmarked Man. I will not spoil for any fellow Strike fans especially @HeidiLite but it’s another cracker.

@PenelopePoweringOn goodness yes but for me it tends to be sitcoms. Ghosts, Derry Girls, Modern family or stuff like Downton Abbey. Stuff which I love but I don’t have to spend energy ingesting.

BlueLimes · 06/09/2025 18:55

It was an absolute page turner.

Big fan of modern family - the characters are so relatable.

HeidiLite · 06/09/2025 19:08

@BlueLimes my DH is Phil. And I just may have slight similarities to Claire..so I've been told.

BlueLimes · 06/09/2025 19:16

HeidiLite · 06/09/2025 19:08

@BlueLimes my DH is Phil. And I just may have slight similarities to Claire..so I've been told.

Snap ! Although I’ve Mitchell’s introvert tendencies and I’ve not got her Halloween extremism.

Thelittlestranger · 06/09/2025 19:42

I watch reality TV for exactly the same reasons - requires no thinking whatsoever. It's really quite embarrassing the terrible TV I watch - it's like my dirty little secret (not that I don't tell anyone!!) It just requires so little effort. I used to love reading, but can only really manage that nowadays on holiday.

I'm definitely an ex, extrovert turned ambivert. Happy to socialise, but need my downtime to recharge or I become grumpy.

Currently enjoying said downtime in the bath...

meatyryvita · 06/09/2025 19:52

@PenelopePoweringOn same with films, I regularly watch ones I’ve seen many times over - its actually really relaxing and, like you said, you don’t have to think about it. Best of luck with your cottage too!

@HeidiLite i empathise with the weight blindness. I too had some items of clothing that I thought looked great on me and I felt good in them. DH showed me a picture of me on our break in Cologne last October and I actually wept. I had thought I looked nice and stylish - I looked huge and my face was massive. I just didn’t see it in the mirror.

@myladyjane what a lovely, respectful way of growing up to have a household give each other space like that. My DH is an extrovert and I am very much the introvert (some times an extroverted introvert at best). It’s often the way, isn’t it, that an extrovert marries and introvert!

OP posts:
PenelopePoweringOn · 06/09/2025 19:54

So good to hear it isn’t just me, I don’t watch many sitcoms, not sure why but it’s mostly films, my current repeat list is Hidden Figures, Darkest Hour, Kings Speech, Victoria and Abdul, Girl with a pearl earring, Billy Elliott and recently in at no seven .. Conclave. I quite liked Seven for all mankind if that’s what it’s called, must have a look to see if it’s still on. I don’t watch much TV really given the number of streaming services I seem to pay for for the kids. I get bored/lose interest very quickly, always been the same.

DC tend to settle in with a blanket when I need to rewatch too.

Other than viewing the house I’ve probably achieved the sum of naff all today.

myladyjane · 06/09/2025 20:19

Oh @Thelittlestranger I’d never heard the term ambivert but that is definitely me and my dad. And dh actually. Dd2 is a proper introvert and dd1 and my bro extroverts. My mum harder to categorise - she’s a pack animal but not leader of the pack so needs people but in a much quieter way than bro/dd.

@PenelopePoweringOn mate I’ve not got dressed. I have read a book, watched Wednesday with dds and done a bit of online shopping. I have forgotten to eat all day until dh went to the shop and shoved some tuna pasta at me. I haven’t even made my own cup
of tea. You are but an amateur

DGonMJ · 06/09/2025 20:20

Sorry to hear some of you are re-looking at old photos of yourself in a negative light. If you thought you looked stylish back then, then you absolutely did 🥰 You just looked stylish in a different way. Yes, not being overweight is healthier but I don’t think that means you can’t appreciate different versions of yourself. I don’t want to beat up the larger version of myself from the past, she had a lot to juggle at the time and did her best.

I made myself a lemon and ginger salmon soup today. DH not a fan so it’s only me and DS2 who ate it. One of my childhood comfort dishes from my mum’s home country.
With that and the quiche I think that’s me and cooking done for September 😂

Will weigh in tomorrow morning. If I’ve maintained I’ll jab Sunday morning as usual, if I’ve lost again I’ll leave it till Monday morning and continue on this 8 day dosing schedule.

Zempy · 06/09/2025 20:21

@PenelopePoweringOn sending positive thoughts for the cottage!

I rewatch Murder Mystery programmes like Marple, Poirot, Midsummer Murders etc. I know who the baddie is from the first ten seconds, so I can just sit back and enjoy it unfolding with no concentration required.

I am very much an introvert, as are both my DC. XH was an extrovert. He loved nothing more than inviting hordes of people to our house, which made me feel sick with anxiety. Now I live like a proper mumsnetter and rarely open my front door to anyone.

Jins · 06/09/2025 20:24

I’ve had a lovely Saturday. Think DH needs to bugger off more often. Long bath, bit of reading, bit of sewing then settled down with the TV while DS2 cooked. Some of you may remember Jesus of Nazareth from the 70s? Well I found that and spent some time reminding myself how attractive John Duttine was nearly 50 years ago.

YY to rewatching films and TV - currently Hot Fuzz - but I have many. I also reread favourite books. Wheel of fortune by Susan Howatch is a good one for me and Gone with the Wind on occasion. I have gone from being very extrovert in my youth to incredibly introvert nowadays. DS2 and I need our space to do our thing. DS1 and DH are happy being surrounded by people whereas I really don’t like being in peopley situations, especially social situations where I’m expected to chat and show interest.

An early night is calling me. Strange how tiring being lazy can be.

BlueLimes · 06/09/2025 20:59

@Zempy Yes to Poirot and Marple- it’s almost time for my annual watch of Halloween party.

and yes to no unexpected callers !! I will hide if I can.

PenelopePoweringOn · 07/09/2025 07:41

I've never watched Marple, I have to say I would quite like to but there always seems so many episodes and I never know where to start. I've remembered another old favourite but I can't remember what it is called, is it Forsyth's War or something like that? With Sam the incredible young army woman who can sort out the world.

I've still got stomach ache, pretty certain it is constipation. Lowest weight since I started this morning 83.8kg. 🏆

@Jins, my favourite book is Rebecca, I re-read it every autumn.

BreezyPeer · 07/09/2025 07:43

Morning losers 🌄 Happy Sunday everyone!
I have unaccountably lost 2.25lb since weigh day on Thursday!!! I ate birthday cake at the party last night and there was no dancing so . . .I don't know what is going on.
I'm starting my Sunday in bed with a coffee and the new Strike @myladyjane thank you for no spoilers 🙂
@PenelopePoweringOn 🤞 for the cottage. Sounds perfect!
And to everyone talking about cocooning, it much have been a day for it yesterday! I had a lovely pre party nap 😴
Today is slow start, some strength work in the gym, house chores and a walk locally. Nothing exciting. Might pop into the last day of another town festival if I get a chance.
Food depends on when and hungry DS comes home. So, could be salad, 🥗could be roast dinner 🍽 🤣🤣🤣

BlueLimes · 07/09/2025 07:57

Ah- I haven’t read the new one, I’d somehow missed it was out. I’m will order. I’m currently reading the latest Jackson Brodie which is very good.

@BreezyPeer cake and a loss is a win 😊 your day sounds lovely.

@PenelopePoweringOn have you got itvx? I think they’ve got from series 1 with Geraldine McEwan. Hope your stomach eases.
