Welcome to thread lucky number 13!

Link to the old thread here

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we have had the BEST Summer in years as we are all significantly lighter.

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W42 D1 and on w2 of my first titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 6.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb
Total loss so far 61.0 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

🤣🤣🤣 Mine would be George Michael, and that’s sadly not going to happen!

Years ago I went to see Beyoncé at the O2, and without warning she suddenly said “ladies and gentlemen please welcome on stage Mr George Michael““ it was a spectacular surprise 🥰

I love the tales since he died of people who benefited from him ringing into TV programs like this morning discreetly to fund things like IVF for despondentcallers who rang in. I think from memory he also phoned into deal or no deal when someone lost and gave them the money that they would’ve won if they chosen the right box. I think this is what most people would do if they had extreme wealth and could change peoples lives without making a big song of dance about it. He will be sorely missed always in our household.

They really have. Especially now the market has proven to be so lucrative. They've done their competitors a massive favour!

Frankly EL should’ve been a bit more Harvard and stood up to the orange clown…

I loved George Michael before he died but even more after when all the lovely things he did started to emerge. There was something about him paying for his neighbourhood's Christmas tree every year and nobody knew it was him.

SerenePeer · 28/08/2025 09:26

@Mounjaropen I'm with you on the Caroline Hirons Skin Freaks! Now she has her own skincare line, how can she be impartial recommending other products? I'm very wary now. I bought her last kit but the newest one doesn't seem that good tbh.

In other news, it's time for another wardrobe cull. My jeans are hanging off me, my linen trousers look like they belong to a clown and my chinos are borderline indecent. Cheeky Zara order placed this morning to tide me over for autumn 🍂 I'm a big 💩 away from my 4 stone klaxon so super excited to hit that milestone!

Mounjaropen · 28/08/2025 09:28

Some shopping tips from me:

If anyone wants some great leggings or general gym wear, then have a look at the Peloton apparel site (the UK one) there is 50% off sale items. I picked up a pair of peloton X Lululemon leggings yesterday for £13. There are a fairly lurid Green, but for that money who cares? They are really very comfortable and wash well (although use a colour catcher for the first few washes as the colour fastness can be a bit unpredictable) I also picked up some bits for DH, and DD and a couple of other styles of leggings and a couple of sweatshirts for myself

I also noticed that someone is selling a Pvolve signature bundle on Vinted…

Happy Thursday!

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head there – you are no longer the person who makes them feel good about themselves possibly? I really don’t understand the attitude at all. My thinnest friend is the one who constantly messages me saying you look fabulous, and she’s all for people taking the jab. And she’s always been thin – because she’s worked bloody hard at staying thin all her life and she doesn’t consider it to be cheating at all

I think the biggest mindset shift I’ve had since last November is surrounding myself with people who lift me up and with people who have a positive attitude. True friendship to my mindis celebrating success and supporting each other when things are not going so well.

And that’s been the joy of this thread….such positivity and support from everyone here.
I’d managed to shift 17lbs before starting on this incredible journey last November. Have officially hit 5 and a half stone today which I never thought was possible. This equals the total holiday luggage which I wouldn’t have a chance of lifting 😂….blooming scary to think how much strain it put on my body. BP meds halved and no issues from knee/foot osteoarthritis this summer. Still just in overweight BMI so a bit to go. Rehearsing script for the ‘you’re looking too thin/skinny/….don't get obsessed’ brigade. Ironically it’s the LEAST obsessed with food/weight/diet I’ve been for nearly 5 decades. If only they knew why 🤫!

I think CH lost all credibility for me suggesting that she was on MJ “for her bloods” having previously been very opinionated on WLI.

Impartiality was previously her USP, but it is impossible to remain so when you’ve sunk a whole load of money into your own skin care line isn’t it?

I wasn’t impressed with the latest kit either. I generally only buy one when high value items such as Kate Somerville peptide cream is included… For that sort of discount I get over myself about her 😂

Anyone see the judgy post about Serena Williams and WLI from the B lister actor Jamelia Jameel? SW is a top class athlete and if anyone understands the effect of meds and nutrition on a body after years at the top of her game, it’s SW. I also admire someone who can honestly say I’ ve not just invested in this business but I’ve actually tried the product. What I don’t do is take medical advice from an actress who clearly has never read the side effects of a packet of paracetamol.. because you wouldn’t take that either… 🙄

Yes, this! I've had a couple of insinuations that I'm obsessive or 'taking it too far' based on nothing but the fact that I am still visibly losing weight.

  1. I'm 5"2. All my friends are taller than me, so my stated goal weight has raised some eyebrows. I've resorted to pulling up the NHS BMI calculator a couple of times when challenged to prove that what is underweight for them is bang on healthy for me.
  1. I've always been significantly obese so, for those around me, I probably do look underweight by comparison. I doubt anybody seeing me for the first time would call me anything other than chubby though, with my 28 BMI.
  1. Hard agree with the 'I've never been LESS obsessed with food and dieting'. It's like Mounjaro has removed that element entirely.
  1. I've had a "you're going to look gaunt" comment. Mate. For the last 25 years of my life I've had a face like a cabbage patch doll. I can't fucking wait to look gaunt.
  1. I've had a "you look older now". Well, like, I'm 43. I am old. That's cool. Next?

I think it comes mostly from concern. To be fair, my closest friends and family have never been anything less than supportive cheerleaders, the overweight and the slim alike. These comments are mainly from colleagues or those friends I see from time to time only.

MsRumpole · 28/08/2025 09:58

Well, after days of refreshing our previous thread I realised we were on a new one! Hi everyone 👋

I'm back on track, I think, losing a decent 2lb a week on 7.5mg. Really good suppression leaving me quite happy with 1200-1500 calories a day. I have received my 3 pens from my supplier so will benefit from current prices for the next 3 months. Nearly back to my lowest weight since starting MJ and then coming off it for a month and people are starting to notice (which is funny because they didn't seem to notice last time I was at this weight!).

Maybe the B lister expert could have advised the world beating athlete Serena to consider ‘eating less and moving more’ 🤦🏼‍♀️

Absolutely this, yes. I think it's obvious when it comes from a place of love and worry as opposed to less altruistic motives.

I saw a colleague for the first time in 5 weeks the other day (I'm a teacher and this is on results day) and got a 'don't lose anymore'. I may have been a little low on patience that day as, after explaining that I was happy with my progress, I said 'now shall I tell you what I think of your weight?'.

Total loss 5 stone 2lb
FINAL TARGET ACHIEVED!! 😀😁💃💃

So, with obvious jubilation (and also a bit of anxiety), this upcoming week will be when I switch from 'operation slim down' to operation 'stay slim'.

I have now lost over 5 stone, having set out many months ago with the hope of losing 3 stone. 3 stone felt like an impossible target at the time, and yet here I am 5 stone slimmer. God Bless WLI's!

I now feel like a different, younger, happier woman, and for the first time in my life have a healthy BMI.
Way back when, I went to see a private weight loss doctor and he has been advising/prescribing since I started.
His plan for the maintenance journey is to stay on my current dose (12.5mg) but to start to spread out the gap between injections. firstly to 10 days, and then aiming for every 14 days. I actually plan to do this quite slowly. So over the next few weeks I will spread out the gap between injections to 10 days, then stay at 10 days for a few weeks before spreading them out further. At least that's the plan.

Eventually I will start to come down the doses to find the right dosage for me to maintain.
Having been overweight nearly all my life, I need to persuade my body that this is my new set point.
I know that this is a different approach to the one usually described by people, ie moving straight to titrating down the doses, it will be interesting to see how we all get on with our various approaches.
The bottom line is I will be using MJ long term to maintain my weight loss.

I am quite nervous about this new part of the journey, I absolutely do not want to put weight back on.

Of course the other aspect is to continue with exercise, yes to keep fit, but hopefully to continue to tone up and also to maybe lose some of the 'shrunken balloon' skin that I currently have.

I also want to add (sorry, very long post), thank you for all the support and encouragement on this journey so far, from you my wonderful WLI friends, and of course our beloved (Newley Wed) Commander-in-Chief. Because of all your tips/advice/sharing, not just my physical health but my mental approach and attitude to weight, weight loss and health has changed.

In the meantime DD and I are out to celebrate, She started her MJ journey this week and I'm switching from losing to maintaining, so we thought we would have a light lunch somewhere before doing some retail therapy!

Amazing news and huge congratulations. It’s fabulous that your DD has you as a ‘guide on the side’. She’s a very lucky girl.

I might be alone but I’ve really started pondering where my issues with food stemmed from. I distinctly remember coming home from a ‘holiday abroad’ (as we used to say in the 70’s!) with a school friend and her family having had D and V for nearly ten days 🤮💩. My mother said it was the best I’d ever looked as I’d lost about a stone….my hunch is that my terrible relationship with food started around then. Who’d have thought 🤔
