Is anyone else planning to stick with Mounjaro?

I’ve seen a lot about people who are switching to wegovy or coming off, but does anyone else plan to stick with MJ for the time being?

I’m waiting for Oushk to confirm their pricing but it looks like I’ll be able to afford it - I’ll have to cut back from some other areas to make it comfortable but I should be okay. So even medium term, I do plan to stay on. I’ve got about 5 stone left to lose I think, and I’ve lost 7 stone 3.7lbs on it so far. So I feel quite reluctant to mess with a good thing! But is there anyone else sticking with it? I’m suddenly getting horror visions of nobody stocking it because there’s no demand!

I'm going to stay on it. I have about 3 stone to lose and no side effects

Yes I think for me the side effects are also a big thing. I know a lot of people have quite bad side effects on wegovy that aren’t present on Mounjaro

Yes, I will be sticking with it. There will still be enough demand for pharmacies to stock it, although it's possible that smaller independent pharmacies may decide the cost isn't worth it if they don't get enough sales.

I don't want to swap to Wegovy as I don't want to take the time out to swap, and then maybe take weeks to get to a dose of Wegovy that's effective, or risk new incidences of side effects. I have been on Mounjaro for over a year and I'm very settled on it at the moment.

I have enough medication for a while, and will be able to afford the new prices, just about. I have another 2 to 3 stone to lose, and I wanted to be on it for maintenance. I may have to reconsider that approach.

LifeOfAShowGirl · 18/08/2025 15:12

Maintenance is definitely something I’m reconsidering. Maybe at a much lower dose than I had first imagined

Yes I'm sticking with it as I'm nearly there and just can't be doing with anything else. I'm going to come off completely eventually and not take it anymore for maintenance.

Mrsmunchofmunchington · 18/08/2025 17:00

I’m sticking with it.
I will really struggle to afford it but what is more important than your health?

ThingsgetbetterwithalittlebitofRazzmatazz · 18/08/2025 17:05

Yes, I'll be continuing. I can afford it and it's been life changing for me, so plan to continue. I would increase my hours at work and cut back on other spending before considering stopping mounjaro.

eleanorwish · 18/08/2025 17:06

Yes, I am. Lost about 3st so far, with another 2 and a half to go. Losing about 1-2 lbs per week. I’m currently on 10mg with no side effects, so I’m going to try and stick with that (and a little willpower if necessary). I’ll aim to save the higher doses for the last stone or stone and a half, and then gradually titrate down to maintenance

I genuinely think I’d rather get a second job than stop. I know someone who does utility warehouse work and I’ve considered messaging her to pick up some work through her, so that I can get some extra money in.

I'm with a provider that is more expensive (£239 for 7.5 I think) and I'm hoping if I move to a cheaper provider the price might not go up too much.

I should have moved to a cheaper provider anyway but I felt a bit anxious about it falling through so I stayed with what I knew. Can't afford to sit tight if they raise their price which I expect they will.

unsync · 18/08/2025 17:11

I'm sticking with it, but had planned to titrate down anyway as I'm almost there.

TheChosenTwo · 18/08/2025 17:13

I’m planning on sticking with it. I’ve had great results on it since starting last October. It seems to be the solution to my insulin resistant PCOS, the first thing that has ever given me a monthly cycle and the only thing that has worked to help me reduce my cravings and lower my weight. GPs have been frankly beyond useless regarding any information or support for it .
i’ll stay on it until they tell me I can’t have it anymore. I’m using it now to maintain not really lose anymore. I’ve got my maintenance call in a couple of weeks and see what they suggest.

TheMeasure · 18/08/2025 17:18

I’ve just about reached my goal (3 stone) and ideally I’d like a bit of leeway so was wanting to lose another few lbs. I’ve eased up a bit on what I’m eating so this is maybe the kick start I need to pull my finger out and get on with it. It’s not that I can’t afford it, it’s that I don’t want to pay it!

I have lost almost 6 stone

5 lbs to target weight

I'm so confused now

Have no idea what to do 🤯🤯🤯

SilenceInside · 18/08/2025 17:25

@hellohellooo have you been having problems ordering your next pen? What's causing your confusion at the moment?

If you have a few pounds to go to your target then swapping to Wegovy doesn't seem like it would be a good plan, and you may find that you won't be prescribed it due to your BMI presumably being in the healthy range. So I'd stick with Mounjaro till you're at your target, and then see if you can budget for a maintenance dose, or see if you want to try maintaining without medication.

Marylou2 · 18/08/2025 17:31

I'm sticking with it. Only 5lbs left to go. I've never needed to move up from 5mg. I've got a full syringe in the fridge and just ordered another today. That'll be 10 weeks as I always use the last/ golden dose. I'll then move to 2.5 for maintenance or might consider wegovy depending on advice from provider or how others have found the switch. I do the the anti inflammatory effects of mounjaro though. I feel sad for those on high doses or at the beginning of their journey.

TheMeasure · 18/08/2025 17:36

It does seem really unfair for those who have just started their tourney or who are part-way through (well, that’ll be most people really).

Fatmumslim01 · 18/08/2025 17:36

I really hope I can afford to stay on it as it's been absolutely life changing not just the weight loss but benefits in lots of areas eg chronic pain gone, lighter periods, just a feeling of calmer and less clutter in my head.

Im "only" on 6.25mg although I need to order 7.5mg to do this so hopefully they won't be affected too much by the price rises.

I'm trying to sell more on vinted I used to sell loads but got a bit lazy with uploading but going to get back in to that and I'm also hopeful to work more hours to afford it.

I'm half way to goal but was hoping to stay on MJ long term for maintenance and wellbeing

It’s quite horrendous that they can do this. I suppose that’s just American pricing for you though!

Lazygardener · 18/08/2025 17:38

I’m planning to stay on it. I have another stone to lose and hope to do that by Christmas. Then I will go down to a lower dose (I’m on 7.5 now) for maintenance. The price rises are very disappointing to say the least, but it has been a game changer for me.

Doidontimmm · 18/08/2025 17:47

I’m sticking with it too. I’ve a stone to lose and a couple of pens so will then move down doses to maintain so hopefully just be paying the same as usual.

WeAllHaveWings · 18/08/2025 18:03

I am most likely sticking with Mounjaro. I was/am very fortunate to respond at lower doses and have done most of my 14 months and over 8st loss, so far, on 3.75mg from a 5mg pen and after my extra pens are used up hope to have lost another stone or so and be at the very top end of a healthy BMI and maintain on 2.5mg where the price increase is not as great.

Also 14 months in I was worried about rocking the boat switching to Wegovy and potentially losing the positives, and lack of side effects I’ve had with Mounjaro, a little scared actually and really feel for, and still pissed off for, those where the decision has been taken from them and outside their control as we all know that feeling of lack of control could impact their transition and it could take a few months to get back on track.

Nunenco · 18/08/2025 18:04

i’m only starting the 4th month and wish I had known about this so I could have opted straight for W instead. I have terrible side effects on MJ and there are so many saying side effects are worse on W so a bit apprehensive but will give it a go and see what happens.

on a positive note someone at work lost 3 st on W in only 3 months and had no side effects whatsoever. She finished in May and has only regained 2 pounds which includes a holiday to Spain. So fingers crossed

speakingofart · 18/08/2025 18:09

I’m going to stick with it - I’m only in week 8 but have lost nearly 20 pounds and although the side effects have been rough I’ve been managing them. I can’t face the thought of switching from the only thing that has ever worked and starting again. I’m very very lucky to be able to afford to do that though.

Jackreacherstrousers · 18/08/2025 18:14

Absolutely not. I'm nine weeks in and 1 stone down. I've another 2.5 stones to go but I'm not lining the Trump administrations pockets. Big pharma already rips the arse out of American healthcare there's no way I would support that sort of market here.
Happy to switch to wegovy and hope it helps.
