Is anyone else planning to stick with Mounjaro?

I’ve seen a lot about people who are switching to wegovy or coming off, but does anyone else plan to stick with MJ for the time being?

I’m waiting for Oushk to confirm their pricing but it looks like I’ll be able to afford it - I’ll have to cut back from some other areas to make it comfortable but I should be okay. So even medium term, I do plan to stay on. I’ve got about 5 stone left to lose I think, and I’ve lost 7 stone 3.7lbs on it so far. So I feel quite reluctant to mess with a good thing! But is there anyone else sticking with it? I’m suddenly getting horror visions of nobody stocking it because there’s no demand!

I’m glad I’m not the only one sticking. I owe my life to this medication to be honest and I was terrified when the news broke!

Yeah, me. Hate the idea of adding to Lilly's profit margins but the benefits to my health are numerous and I've had to make a decision based on that. Like you, I'm reconsidering maintenance options.

The way I’m seeing it is my purchases are a drop in the ocean compared to what they’re making globally, they won’t notice me going one bit because they’re going to be constantly launching new products now - like the pill version. If that’s cheaper you’ll have millions on it in the uk

I have two stone to go. I will absolutely stay with it. I have not had such a low weight since I was 15/16 and I feel so much better. I really want to be a normal weight for the first time in my life. I will cut down on other things.

also I have tried wegovy and Oxempic before and it did nothing for me.

I prefer to add to theirs than to Nestle’s and all the other junk food companies.

Yes. Still waiting to see final
prices but if I possibly can I will. I’ll make the pens last as long as possible. It’s been so transformative for my health - not just weight, but so many other effects. Will stay on as long as I can.

TheCaloricDecline · 18/08/2025 18:51

Yes, I think I will be able to absorb the price increase. I hope to hit target early next year, then I intend to titrate down (I'm currently on 3.75mg). My BMI is 30.2. I think to move to another, such as Wegovy, might work against me. Mounjaro is working, I haven't had bad side effects, and I'm losing weight at a fairly healthy rate of between 1-1.5lb a week. Just a Sh£te situation for some, and I really feel for those who won't be able to continue.

kiwiane · 18/08/2025 19:37

I will stick with it - I’ve lost 1.5 stone in 3 months and still have 3 stones to lose, probably over the next 6 to 9 months. I think I will try harder and stop drinking altogether. I will do my utmost to use the bonus dose and keep to the lowest dose that works for me, using syringes I’ve bought to adjust the dose.
Once the price rise affects me (in a few months time) then I’ll start to consider tapering off and finding a maintenance dose.

OrlandointheWilderness · 18/08/2025 19:42

I’ve lost 8 stone on it and was thinking about moving downwards now. I’m on 12.5, I’ll buy another pen when I get paid, then start titrating down. I budget £200 a month for it so should be able to move to a low dose for not too much more. I’ve worked too damn hard to go cold turkey off it and jeopardise my weight.

Crunchymum · 18/08/2025 19:42

I am planning to stick with MJ.

I moved from Wegovy to MJ (lost 4lbs in 8 weeks with Wegovy versus 32.5lbs in 16 weeks with MJ) so it's a no brainer for me.

I am only half way to goal weight as well.

However I'm considering my options as I cannot afford more than £300pm.

I am happy to reduce back to 7.5mg (currently on 10mg) and go even lower for maintenance / adapt dosage so a pen lasts longer.

Coming off the medication isn't an option either as I'm just not ready, willing or able to go it alone.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 18/08/2025 20:12

I’m staying on but I’m in maintenance now and just ordered a 5mg.

If it’s not enough for my body, I shall have to have a rethink as 7.5 looks like it’s going to be in the region of £200 most places and that will be a stretch!

TheSaltedCaramelPath · 18/08/2025 20:28

All of the online pharmacies have presumably invested and built in IT systems, staff and infrastructure to build up their businesses in this new WL medication offering.

I can’t imagine they want to suddenly wind it all down from 1 Sep due to many/most existing patients very suddenly choosing not to reorder / being unable to purchase at the new increased price?

Just today I have seen two of the known authorised online pharmacies advertising on FB and offering cheaper/affordable ongoing prices for patients to move across to them. (I didn’t click through to check pricing though).

I’m going to remain quietly hopeful that it might not all be bad news and there could perhaps be some positive developments yet.

I was planning on staying with it but I can’t get it!

My current supplier is out of stock and most places are only taking existing customers now.

I’ve got a dose next week and then I’m out.

If anyone knows where stock of 15mg is please share.

I’ve just registered with them and there is no appointments available for new customer verification until October!

I’m really worried about having to restart at the lowest dose because I can’t get stock anywhere!

I believe that they said if you email them they can bring it forward!

Yes. I only have about 5-8kg to go, I have a couple of unopened pens, plus a couple of doses left in current pen, so really that's 12 doses. The plan was to have achieved my weight loss and titrated down by mid March at the latest, to save trying to travel abroad for several weeks to a country that hasn't approved MJ for weight loss. I want my treatment to have a controlled and careful ending, to maximise my chances of keeping up with everything I have achieved. Hopefully by the time November comes around and I need to buy a new pen, prices should have settled or come down. If not, I will need a maximum of 3 pens I would think, hopefully at lower doses. I do feel a bit resentful that I will have ended up spending a lot more than I budgeted for, but I will pick up an extra hour of work here or there to cover the cost.

It would be premature to finish treatment now, nor does there seem to be any point in changing at this stage, when I'm so close to goal. Different medication might not suit me as well, MJ has been perfect in terms of doing it's job without side effects.

museumum · 18/08/2025 21:15

I’m about a stone to go. I’m hoping I can do that in two pens so I’ll pay for them. I had planned to ease off gently after hitting target but not sure I can afford that now. Might have to cold turkey even though that scares me a lot.

Have you checked Monj?

monj.co.uk/discount-mounjaro-price-list/

It hasn't been updated to show that Lotus are now existing customers only (EC), and I'd ignore Curate (very slow) but there are still some options for 15mg.

Screenshots are lowest price first.

I am staying on- I had a look at Wegovy but am too worried now I’m at maintenance to switch now. I will titrate down slowly.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 18/08/2025 22:27

I'm planning on sticking with Mounjaro. I know where I am with it. I am losing weight, feel much better about my health in general and so far have escaped all but very slight side effects. I will find a way to pay for it.

ChiaraMontague · 19/08/2025 11:59

I’m also planning on sticking with it for as long as I can afford it.

I am halfway through my current pen and I ordered a bundle for the next 3 pens which should be delivered today. That should see me through to the end of the year and I hope by then that the prices have stabilised, at least on the maintenance doses or that more places might offer subscriptions to make it a tiny bit more affordable. I also have a few months to save for the increased doses.

This medication is not only helping me lose weight, it is having game changing positive effects on a lot of symptoms I experience with PCOS and hypothyroidism. I finally feel like myself for the first time in 10 years since these conditions first took over my life, I really don’t want to give that up 🙁

neveroutofthekitchen · 19/08/2025 14:05

I'm sticking with it. I have a long way to go - maybe a year? - but I work hard and I am in the fortunate position that I can afford it.
I think back to all the money I wasted on SW, where they said you could eat potatoes and pasta in unlimited quantities, the money I wasted on the Cambridge Diet, the money I wasted on WW, etc.
MJ is giving me hope that I can crack this and live a healthy life and I can't put a price on that.

BerfyTigot · 19/08/2025 19:24

I do get side effects on MJ and have considered swapping to see if I don't react so badly to wegovy. But I'm actually doing well and losing weight on MJ, so I'm going to stay on it for the time being.

And the 4 week period without drugs while changing also puts me off

Gettingbysomehow · 19/08/2025 19:27

Im staying on it. I've lost 5 stone and have 1 to go. I. Saving money by not getting my hair coloured. It's going up to £269 next month. I should be done by Xmas.
