Mounjaro microdosing….anyone else trying this?

First post ever, posting out of curiosity and wondering if anyone else is trying this…

soooo hit perimenopause, put on a stone, not a big deal in grand scheme of things, but hate clothes not fitting and not feeling right in my body.

I’m generally healthy and do the right things, strength training, hiit, steps, eat well, mainly veggie, drink lots of water….

also can be an emotional eater and think / overthink about food a lot, and live with a lovely man with a much faster metabolism than my poor old peri one!

anyway, I read an article about microdosing Mounjaro, starting at 0,5mg…called clinic and am 2 weeks in, just moved to 2mg. Had no side effects and defo been less hungry and shifted a couple of pounds already.

it may sound daft but feels lovely to start feeling like myself again!

would love to know if anyone else is doing something similar, how it’s going and anything long term they’re thinking about.

btw I get send exact doses so no clicking of pens, just inject the amount in the needle x

Plenty of private doctors are prescribing kwikpens to people who don’t met the prescribing limits. It’s legal to prescribe off license.

I used an online pharmacy mainly as it’s cheaper, I had to slightly stretch the truth, my BMI was 26.5. I was diagnosed with PCOS 20 years ago but no currently symptoms. I ate a very large carby meal night before and drank a lot of water before the call, so when I stood on the scales fully clothed on the online call I had a BMI of 27 (just). Obvs I lost 3 kg the first week.. they never asked for evidence of the PCOS. Either way I personally would never risk using someone else’s pre-filled syringes.

Ripped off because OP is not obese, and perhaps not even overweight.

No ripped off as paying £175 for 4 micro doses.
When a £149 2.5mg kwikpen will provide 20 doses of 0.5mg (admittedly even if kept in fridge 20 weeks probably too long, I make a pen last 8-10 weeks). But still even if 8 weeks still £149 pen would be cheaper.

FWIW my cholesterol was borderline high at 5.1 now after 3 months it’s 3.6 (been taking 2.5mg a week) so can be benefits beyond weight loss.

How do you get a new pen every 8-10weeks? Don't pharmacies need evidence of a recent pen?

You actually don’t need to evidence for 2.5mg as it’s the starting dose but you do have to be 30+ BMI or 27+ and meet certain criteria. So for anyone who meets the threshold they can buy 2.5mg as little as they choose, once you get below that you would then need to evidence continuous use.

Weight loss lowers cholesterol though, not the actual MJ

You’d think that but cholestrol was almost as high in Aug 2024 when I was 64kg. So think something else going on.

I’m now BMI 23 but for maintenance can buy 2.mg ad hoc.

Oh that’s interesting, can I ask where and if you are on a maintenance plan that allows this?

I’m with Swift. The maintenance plan allowed ad hoc purchases of 2.5mg pens as long as not a years gap. After a 2.5mg can order a 5mg etc.

Is it expensive for maintenance plan? I’m looking far ahead here as won’t be needing it for a while but have about 16 weeks worth of MJ in the fridge!

No. I think it’s reasonable.

There is no monthly “charge” and the 2.5mg pen is 149 and 5mg 169

if you take a gap have to go back down to 2.5mg. But can order 5mg the next month.

@Geordielass78 @trying29 I’ve just started with the Healand Clinic and getting a delivery next week, are you still finding them good? How much weight have you lost now?

And before everyone starts jumping on me about syringes and the cost my BMI is slightly under the requirement for ‘normal’ private prescriptions from the usual online pharmacies. But the weight gain around the middle out of nowhere has been a major peri menopause change for me, and I am also suddenly in pre diabetes range so some insulin resistance going on. I don’t want loads of hassle and I can afford it, and the clinic looks reputable. This method isn’t unusual in the U.S.

excellent! just had my follow up after 3 jabs, and signed up for a second month. still on a 3kg loss, on 0.5mg. I have agreed with them that I will not move up doses as I am still reacting quite well to what I have now. I find them great on communication. PM me if you want to know more!

Hello! @Placeithere

I’m 7 weeks in…lost 8lb and can just about get in my jeans and clothes again! Still a few lbs to go.

Had my consultation today, they checked in on how I was feeling, weight, asked about diet and energy levels, gave advice, was a 30 minute call and very helpful, talked about behaviours around food and went deeper than ‘you’re doing fine, here’s some more’.

I started for same reasons as you, smaller doses are working great and I have no complaints / issues.

Personally I’m very happy with Healand, and even more happy to feel more myself again x

I do 2.5mg every two and a half weeks, which allows me to maintain my current weight (BMI in the healthy range).

Placeithere · 25/09/2025 20:58

@iseethembloom does it not go off though before you’ve used it up?

I’m on week 8 of microdosing a pen. It still seems to give the same effect. It’s only been tested to 30 days so it’s a risk some people will take. I keep it
in the fridge just take it out briefly for each jab.

ShuriPouri · 26/09/2025 21:59

Interesting.. I would not be surprised if they are buying off the grey market and buying vials of tz, then making it up. Grey MJ costs approx usd 140.00 for the equivalent of 10 12.5 mg pens. I know cause a friend is doing this.. I think dangerous af..she is convinced it is safe. Another story and possibly another post.

ur deffo being ripped off either way. And especially if they are compounding it..ie the grey way.

AltitudeCheck · 26/09/2025 22:10

I'm curious @Geordielass78 what are your starting weight/ BMI and your targets? Did you have to travel for a face to face appointment or was it all by phone? I'd love to be 10 pounds lighter and could probably afford £175 a month to get there, but not long term... what are your plans when you get to your target, will you carry on with a maintenance dose or try to come off it?

It's interesting that the Dr explained it as the risk being yours, legally they are responsible for prescribing a medicines outside of it's license.

BrambleCrumble2 · 26/09/2025 22:23

Op what was your starting BMI? Mine is 26, peri menopausal and struggling to shift any weight this sounds like something I’d be interested in

Geordielass78 · 27/09/2025 06:12

Hi

My starting weight was 11st 1 and BMI of 25. My target is 9st 7lb.

my weight gain was definitely down to perimenopause, felt like it appeared overnight!

Once I hit target I’d like to try being on a maintenance side for a while and see how I get on.

I think you’re right about them buying from the ‘grey’ market, I had a look at the Healand website and they’re offering retatrutide as a weight management option. Reta is still in phase 3 clinical trials and, according to google, won’t be approved for use until at least 2027 so how they can prescribe it is a bit strange

KrankyKumquat · 27/09/2025 11:27

@ScoffingWaters2000

I really don't think a clinic, which openly advertises, has discussed their prescribing in a national newspaper and is registered with the Care Quality Commission, will be operating illegally or buying dodgy medication from non-authorised sources.

More and more evidence is emerging, every week, about the benefits of glps and their impact on a range of physical and mental disorders. Those of us who have got in early, to address our obesity, are going to have to learn to share. Now I've been maintaining for nearly a year, at bmi 20, gradually down to a dose of 1.25mg, my views have changed about access to non-obese people - if it can be prescribed to me, it should be prescribed to anyone who will benefit from it in my view.

finalpunt · 27/09/2025 12:23

I hit my target but still had 5mg pen leftcso have been taking 2.5mg last couple of weeks. Still losing slowly though so next week I am going to reduce down to 1.25mg. I can't decide if to spread the dose out to 10days as well.
I am worried about maintaining without and my overall health is better, knees aren't killing me getting up the stairs etc.
I gained 2 stone in about 6 months when I increased my oestrogel pump from 2 to 3. I know everyone says its the menopause not the hrt that makes you gain but I was fine on 2 pumps. My boob's went from D to E in that 6 months and were starting to spill out of the E cup. That's why I started MJ.
If I can microdose with them to maintain I would be happy to give it a go.
