Mounjaro microdosing….anyone else trying this?

First post ever, posting out of curiosity and wondering if anyone else is trying this…

soooo hit perimenopause, put on a stone, not a big deal in grand scheme of things, but hate clothes not fitting and not feeling right in my body.

I’m generally healthy and do the right things, strength training, hiit, steps, eat well, mainly veggie, drink lots of water….

also can be an emotional eater and think / overthink about food a lot, and live with a lovely man with a much faster metabolism than my poor old peri one!

anyway, I read an article about microdosing Mounjaro, starting at 0,5mg…called clinic and am 2 weeks in, just moved to 2mg. Had no side effects and defo been less hungry and shifted a couple of pounds already.

it may sound daft but feels lovely to start feeling like myself again!

would love to know if anyone else is doing something similar, how it’s going and anything long term they’re thinking about.

btw I get send exact doses so no clicking of pens, just inject the amount in the needle x

@ScoffingWaters2000

I really don't think a clinic, which openly advertises, has discussed their prescribing in a national newspaper and is registered with the Care Quality Commission, will be operating illegally or buying dodgy medication from non-authorised sources.

More and more evidence is emerging, every week, about the benefits of glps and their impact on a range of physical and mental disorders. Those of us who have got in early, to address our obesity, are going to have to learn to share. Now I've been maintaining for nearly a year, at bmi 20, gradually down to a dose of 1.25mg, my views have changed about access to non-obese people - if it can be prescribed to me, it should be prescribed to anyone who will benefit from it in my view.

Absolutely agree with you, I’m nearly at target and micro dosing appeals to me massively for maintenance and also the other benefits I get; I’m no longer gluten intolerant, plantar fasciitis is gone and so has my acid reflux, I think in the future MJ etc will be more widely available because of the additional benefits as well as for weight loss. What I was posting about was the clinic’s website is offering retatrutide as one of the weight management options, it’s still being trialled, is not available yet and wondered how they’re doing it.

LittlePineapple · 27/09/2025 12:56

I'm curious how they're prescribing as its not within prescribing guidelines.

Its not like the scary online black market or beauty salons as they're registered and a proper clinic. So I'm just really curious!!

I thought that, but if they are also prescribing reta then I can’t see how it’s possible it’s not on grey market?

KrankyKumquat · 27/09/2025 13:30

@ScoffingWaters2000 @MeridaBrave

I thought the same but when you read about it on their website, they very clearly mention that it's still under trial. I'm doubting therefore, that they prescribe it but are preparing to when the trial's completed and it gets approval - that's my take on it, anyway.

ScoffingWaters2000 · 27/09/2025 14:32

@KrankyKumquat ah, my bad, I skim read it this morning and thought they were offering it 😊

AltitudeCheck · 27/09/2025 17:32

Doctors can prescribe drugs that have a UK license, in a way that differs from the manufactures recommendations (like using a different dose, or using it to treat a different condition, or in a different way) but they take on more of the legal responsibility if something goes wrong.

They can also prescribe a drug that doesn't have a UK license that has a license in another country, but they take even more responsibility.

They should be able to explain why there was a need to do so, what clinical evidence they have and how they were monitoring it.

Within the NHS they are likely to be asked to explain why they aren't followingguidance... less so in private practice... unless something goes wrong!

Minkyscamp · 30/09/2025 07:18

I’m also interested in doing this, and have been looking at the healand clinic. The reason I’m keen to start is for the non-weight loss benefits I’ve read about. I have terrible PMDD, and a host of peri symptoms too that are seriously affecting my quality of life. I keep hearing about the other benefits of GLP1 injections on symptoms like these due to the anti-inflammatory effects.

Does anyone on here have any experience of micro dosing primarily for this reason? I’d be really keen to hear how you’ve found it.

Like I have testosterone as part of HRT. The product is licensed for men. I’m basically micro dosing, one pump which would last a man three weeks is lasting me 7 months.

Are you taking HRT? I’d only explore micro dosing GLP1 if already tried HRT including testosterone. I assume you’ve got inflammation checked and tried an anti inflammatory diet?

I’m taking the normal starting dose GLP1, have lost almost 2 stone once at target weight will microdose prob at half of starting dose. Hard to know impact on peri menopause since HRT dealt with most of issues already, and being 2 stone lighter also helps.

i qualified to use a regular online pharmacy at the outset, and now using one of the ones offering maintenance. At some point I will take a break to use up spare pens!!

Placeithere · 02/10/2025 17:14

Well I took my first microdose yesterday, so far I am amazed- had poached eggs on toast and a protein yoghurt for brunch at about 10, still not hungry!! I’m forcing down a bowl of fruit and fibre as I’m very aware of avoiding constipation side effects. Drinking lots of water. This is blowing my mind. I’d normally be going around like a demon with the kids leftovers by now. I have zero desire to do so.

What is the dose?

I know it’s only day one and things will settle but this is exactly why I don’t use protein yogurt or drinks, they stop me being able to eat actual food which is far more important.

LittlePineapple · 02/10/2025 17:43

Yes that really doesnt aound an ideal days intake for nutrition!

Placeithere · 02/10/2025 18:01

@LittlePineapple I’m starting from a very low bar, so this is a good start for me.

ADogRocketShip · 08/10/2025 10:13

I've been interested in Healand and microdosing too... but didn't know how it worked.

I'm BMI 26.8 and have previously been diagnosed PCOS waaaaay back when I was 23 by private healthcare so unsure if its even on my NHS record. Didn't ever take any meds for PCOS (e.g, no need for Metformin as I fell pregnant realtively easily). Anyway, online clinic rejected me as under BMI 27 and it seems totally ridiculous from a health perspective to actively gain weight to qualify.

Microdosing appeals due to lower instance of side effects. I just want a small bit of suppression and support - I do cal counting and exercising but it'd be great to have a helping hand. I'm short at 5'2 so extra weight really is felt. I can afford to pay, even if it is extortionate in comparison to obtaining a normal pen via an online clinic and just counting clicks.

@Placeithere @Geordielass78 Did you have side effects? In particular I want to avoid constipation as I tend toward gastro issues of that nature so don't want to make it worse! What was the consultation like - what did it involve?

Time4changeagain · 08/10/2025 10:36

@ADogRocketShip The difference for your bmi to bmi 27 is only a couple of lb so id definitely try another online supplier with you being so close. You could weigh at the end of the day after a meal or a lot of water.

Geordielass78 · 08/10/2025 11:07

Hi @ADogRocketShip

i haven’t had any major side effects, a little nausea in week 3, and a little bit of constipation but nothing bad and drinking lots of water and increasing fibre have helped.

the phone consultation asked for weight and height, about my health, any health issues, why I was looking to microdose, target weight etc, they gave advice on food, water, exercise too. I have a monthly check in too.

id say the only side effect I am experiencing is my HRT working less effectively as its tablets and GLP-1s slow your absorption. I’m switching to patches at the end of this cycle of tablets so hoping that will fix it x

Really interested to read of micro-doser experiences. It sounds like it is being done with good consultation and check ups, which is really encouraging. I am a fan of WLI and the other benefits that they seem to bring beyond weightloss. I hope that they will become more widely available and also that there will be more options for weightloss maintainers too.

Thank you @Geordielass78 and others who have shared their experience.

I was exactly the same. PCOS diagnosed privately aged 22.

BMI was 26.5. I just ate large carby meal day before the online consult and drank loads of water, and was wearing jeans / hoodie so BMI was 27 when I stood on scales. So much cheaper to use regularly online supplier. I’ve made a 5mg pen last 10 weeks. I’ve stuck on 2.5mg - second pen was 5mg.

Im not sure with the new prescribing rules and checks whether wearing lots of clothes and stuff works now though? Doesn’t the pen “go off” after 4 weeks?

Even without the clothes, and large carby meal say before and drinking a litre of water will add 2kg.

The pens are only tested for up to 30 days (out of fridge). I’ve used up to 9/10 weeks (in fridge) and it still seems to be fine but it’s a personal choice/ risk.

I personally wouldn’t risk decanted syringes. Each person has own risk threshold.

StrongLikeMamma · 09/10/2025 08:26

I like this idea as am really overly sensitive to hormonal treatments.
Are the microdoses in a pen op or do you have to use an actual injection?

trying29 · 09/10/2025 08:54

Healand send them out in injections which I was terrified to use but you hardly feel anything.
As to side effects - I am still on 0.5mg as I have had really strong nausea and suppression and so far seems to be working remaining on that. The doctor at the Healand clinic said some people microdosing do see a very strong reaction to the lowest dose - it isnt unheard of.

Placeithere · 11/10/2025 15:38

@Geordielass78 how are you getting on with it? I’m definitely eating quite a lot less, and feel great. I feel like my clothes are looser and I have more energy. Scales not really shifting though 🤔

Geordielass78 · 11/10/2025 16:35

Hi @Placeithere

its going great! It’s been nearly 12 weeks, I’ve lost 12lb, up to 2mg. Probs don’t want to lose much more, the dose is working great so going to stick with it and see how I go!

if your clothes are looser then you’re definitely losing weight x

trying29 · 11/10/2025 16:54

I'm so nervous to move up to the next dose - I am still on 0.5mg! I might try to move up next month. Will you taper off?
