I'm back to 5mg from 15 at my highest but taking from the higher dose pen to save money. I have three pens in the fridge not from recent stockpiling but generally over the last year by using the extra dose etc and being on a subscription which sends them out automatically.

I've lost five stone but still about a stone to go but thinking I'm happy maintaining at around BMI 27 where I am now really although a bit more would be nice. Planning on swimming more now and keeping up my low carb habits and hoping for the best

Hi all! Well done on everyone’s continued success! I poured myself into a pair of size 14 jeans on Saturday and felt bloody fabulous! I’m 4.5 stone down now, just another stone to go and I’ll be a healthy BMI again. I feel as though my zest for life has come back.

The one problem I have is that I’ve gone up to 7.5mg. This is the third week and it’s destroyed my appetite. A few bites and I’m stuffed like I’ve eaten a massive meal. I don’t even really like the taste of food now and I’m constantly thirsty. I know I need to eat, as I start to feel really wobbly at times. Has anyone else had this? Next week I plan to drop the dose to 6mg and see how that goes. All advice welcomed!

I had the same on 7.5mg, it was just a bit too strong. I was finding it really difficult to meal plan and cook because food was just not on my radar at all, and I was relying way too much on freezer food for the kids so none of us were eating healthily. 6mg was just right, good suppression but could still manage small portions and had more motivation to cook from scratch. I have now gone back down to 5mg as trying to allow a bit more hunger in preparation for maintenance/stopping.

Thanks @sylv165- sounds like my plan is sensible. Is there a website which tells me how many clicks 6mg is?

20bloodypounds · 26/08/2025 11:58

@SpottyBumPony good to see your post, it's been so tough for you (and no doubt still is) so you're doing extra well to get your MJ mojo back.

I'm currently maintaining on 2.5mg (only ever went up to 5mg) but have a holiday in 3 weeks time and won't jab for 2 weeks (can't be bothered taking all the stuff with me) so it will be interesting how my appetite is and how well I'm managing to keep making good choices while I'm away. Was out for brunch yesterday and the serving was on 2 pieces of rye bread. I ate one and took the other home in a doggy box, and ate it today. I could have managed it all but I also noticed that I'd had 'enough' - when did that word become part of my eating vocabulary? Prior to MJ I wouldn't have contemplated leaving anything (and I'd probably have bought a cake to take away for later).

sylv165 · 26/08/2025 11:59

@Itisallgoingtobeoki think it is something like 48 clicks, but my brain works better with whole number so I just did 50 lol. So i was taking slightly more than 6mg

flobbynomore · 26/08/2025 12:26

Hello all! I have now lost 3st and hit what I originally set as my “goal” - the mid point of the healthy bmi range, though I still have quite a spare tyre! At my age (58) I think that’s ok though, I don’t want to look scrawny so will try to maintain from here. I have a maintenance appointment booked with oushk later in September . I’ve been on 5mg for most of my journey and have one more in the fridge and a couple on order for sept/oct… after that had planned to drop to 2.5mg and see how that goes. I am not really losing any more - or only barely. I am currently on holiday abroad and I did bring my pen with me, I’ve done 2 doses from it while away. I bought one of the little travel cases from oushk and kept it in the mini bar, it’s been no drama. I am struggling a bit to do proper justice to the full board! I have lost and regained weight before so I had hoped to stay on MJ for as long as I would be allowed - I feel so much better on it - but affordability will have to come into it now. Great to see everyone’s progress a year on!

SybillaB · 26/08/2025 18:15

Well done @flobbynomore I have just hit my 3 stone loss too. I’m so pleased - I would never have got here without Mounjaro. I’m still overweight though. Just before the price rise I decided to go up to 12.5 so have a pen in the fridge but that will sadly be my last.
My provider has suggested going onto Wegovy but they say you have to wait 4 weeks for all the Mounjaro to leave your system before you can start. I’ll worry about that in a few weeks time.

sylv165 · 27/08/2025 12:36

Newsflash: I don’t think my arse is saggy anymore! I’ve been feeling a bit like a deflated balloon since losing weight so have been doing a lot of weight training with a personal trainer and have finally noticed my bum and thighs really toning up. Progress is motivating!!

Itisallgoingtobeok · 27/08/2025 13:05

@sylv165- fantastic! I’ve just started weight training again in the hope it will help me.

I’ve also decided to stop at a higher weight than my original goal. I was looking at 10stone, which is what I was when I was younger. I’m 5ft 6”, and I was very slim at that weight. I’m currently 12 stone and all my curves are back, I don’t look skinny, but look healthy. I’m going to loose another stone to get my BMI in a healthy range and stop there.

sylv165 · 27/08/2025 15:36

Thanks @Itisallgoingtobeok! Working with my trainer has been a bit of a game changer. I had been doing some weights at home but have since realised that they really weren’t heavy enough to make much of a difference.

sylv165 · 31/08/2025 09:20

What has everyone done about the price rises? Has it changed anyone’s plans for maintenance? I had ordered my usual 7.5mg pen, then also managed to get another one relatively cheaply from juniper last week. I also have a 5mg in the fridge from a while ago. I am usually a rule follower but I think I am going to store them in the fridge after I use them and take 5mg from the 7.5s. Just try and eek it all out a bit longer. I should have enough to get me to Christmas but then might stop, or at least have a month of 2.5 to taper down.

CountingSleepySheep · 31/08/2025 09:39

@sylv165 I'm going to try and go it alone, I didn't manage to order any extra pens in August so once this one is gone, that's me done. I'm not sure I would qualify for a switch to Wegovy at bmi 24 and it is probably not worth the risk of changing meds when I only have a stone left to lose (I know they are similar but they are not the same). I'm going to ask my provider if they would allow me to order a 2.5mg MJ in a few months if it turns out I can't do it alone, but that's the only ongoing dose of MJ I can realistically budget for.

sylv165 · 31/08/2025 09:49

What dose are you on currently @CountingSleepySheep ? I’ve mostly been on lower doses so would feel confident enough that 2.5 would give me enough for maintenance at least. I’m the same, I don’t think I want to pay the higher prices. I also dont have the patience to shop around too much, I only got the pen from juniper because my friend gave me a discount code.

CountingSleepySheep · 31/08/2025 10:03

I'm on 7.5mg, I've got three weeks left with the golden dose, but could titrate down to stretch it out a bit. I panicked last week and tried to get a final pen with chequp to titrate down with, but they wouldn't accept my order as they said my bmi was too low for a new patient. My supplier (The Family Chemist) said I could order a new pen from them if they got stock in before September, but that never happened! I'm sure they will be fully restocked at the higher prices tomorrow. I feel a bit silly for having kept to one supplier but i'm hoping it will all work out OK.

sylv165 · 31/08/2025 10:21

@CountingSleepySheepyou definitely seem to lose the flexibility to switch once you reach a normal weight. if you want a code for juniper let me know And I can pm you - think it is £75 off first order. They accepted me at BMI 23.7. They aren’t the cheapest though so I’m going to cancel my subscription as soon as my pen arrives but was worth it to get one more to keep me going

Witchyandtwitchy · 31/08/2025 10:42

I'm coming to the end too, having lost 4st…
More or less at goal now which is BMI 25, hopefully can go a few lbs lower for a bit of a buffer!
I shall take dose 5 from a 10mg pen tomorrow, then I use one more 10mg pen, a 7.5, then 5mg pen which should arrive next week.
I then have another 10mg pen which I’m going to count clicks and use 4 doses of 5mg & 8 doses of 2.5, possibly split the last 2 doses even more.
I know this will take me over the 30days, but I’ve done my research and will keep it in fridge the whole time and I’ve plenty of prepackaged MJ needles left over.

Then we’ll see how I get on going it alone! 😬

Witchyandtwitchy · 31/08/2025 10:45

What I didn’t want was to finish on MJ and then head straight into the Xmas period!

sylv165 · 31/08/2025 11:42

@Witchyandtwitchyi had exactly the same thought re December! Always the most challenging month of the year. January is definitely a better month to try and go it alone

20bloodypounds · 31/08/2025 17:02

I'm on 2.5mg. I've got a 5 mg pen to finish, then another, and 2 new 2.5mg pens. That should take me throught of 3rd January.

In autumn I'll order another 2.5mg (to keep me on their prescribing schedule), and discuss with my pharmacy doing 1 month on and 1 month off. That will be my experiment for 2026.

Like others I am using the 5mg pen for more than 30 days, but I'm not relying on that as a strategy, hence the 2.5mg pens ordered and recieved.

ILoveLeopard245 · 31/08/2025 20:56

Hi folks sorry I lost the thread - im still here but I think maybe at goal or a few pounds away. Nearly 7 stone loss and thinking I will go for 9stone 7. It’s unbelievable to me that this could have happened in this year. I’ve been plugging away with weight watchers which has kept me on track. I am back running and weight training too. My life feels totally changed in many ways. I feel so much fitter and healthier. The price increase has made me wonder what I do next, as I’d hoped to stay on for maintenance. I’m undecided. But I still have two pens so will see where I am then.

sylv165 · 31/08/2025 22:39

@ILoveLeopard2457st?! That is incredible. Well done, you must feel brand new!

Itisallgoingtobeok · 01/09/2025 05:39

I’m really suffering on 7.5mg. Boots wouldn’t prescribe me any more 5mg pens, so pushed me up a dose. I’m a stone away from a healthy BMI, so am thinking I might just titrate down as best I can and then stop and go it alone.

Anyone else in the same boat?

HumBumBum · 01/09/2025 07:48

Im on 7.5mg @Itisallgoingtobeokbut don’t take the whole dose, I count clicks to 45 currently (40 is 5mg if you want to drop back down to it).

I think what’s changed the most for me with price rises is, I’m changing my target. I’m dropping it back to BMI 25 at which point I’ll reduce doses and go onto maintenance. Hopefully this happens while I’ve still got some pens so I can be relaxed about it.

It’s also spurred me on to do it properly again - high protein, lots of water, gym. I managed to lose 2lbs again this week (which hasn’t happened for a while). 20lbs to go, hopefully by Christmas 🤞

Itisallgoingtobeok · 04/09/2025 10:23

Today is my 1 year Mounjaro anniversary. I’ve lost 4.5 stone. another stone to go and I will be a healthy BMI. I feel fantastic and it’s changed my life. People have started to ask me outright how I’ve done it, and I’m ashamed to say I’ve said diet and exercise, which is true, but I’ve failed to mention the WLI. I don’t like lying, but I know there would be such a lot of criticism. It also isn’t anyone’s business…

I've gone back to 5mg after struggling on the higher doses and seems to be better. You could just take that from the higher dose pen perhaps
