@MagicaMagical no not at all! I hate MLM’s and would never join one.

I’ve just been doing online tasks to make extra cash - bank switches, market research interviews, selling on Vinted etc…I’m not promoting anything of my own. Just sharing what I’ve done to pay for my jabs ☺️

Puppylucky · 16/08/2025 18:50

It's interesting that a lot of what is being suggested as sharp business practice ( eg taking payment then refunding it) is actually, as a PP has suggested, just poor business practice. It reinforces my belief that this whole thing has pulled in a lot of small pharmacies that just don't have the commercial nous to deal with market turbulence. I expect to see a huge shake out in terms of numbers of providers

I haven’t stockpiled - I think I’ll wait for it to die down - I have a 2 or 3 weeks of my pen left and hopefully by then a solution will present itself.

I’m not keen to spend £300 a pen but it does work and makes the weight loss much much easier so maybe I get my normal pen and jab every 10 days and keep in the fridge instead to mitigate the costs a little. I don’t bother with the golden dose but I will now. Makes sense not to spend to the max.

A couple of suppliers stated 180 for 5mg which is up from 154.00

Evening all. Nothing useful to add to your calm and lovely thread really, other than I've noticed fluctuations in both Mounjaro & Wegovy prices since yesterday. Mostly pharmacies pushing prices in the upwards direction to cash in on the panic, though one or two providers dropping Wegovy a bit to make them more competitive for those switching.

My next pen will be due an order before Sept, I'll possibly get a reminder next week. So I may get one in before the increase. I'm a plodder and I am expecting/hoping to be on this drug for quite some time yet. Hopefully only a low dose for me as I seem quite sensitive to it. Fingers crossed that doesn't wane.

Welcome! I emailed my provider to ask if they could trigger a reorder assessment a few days early as they are sooo slow to approve (a full week last time. Farmeci, I do not recommend, but they have been price-matching). They did so straightaway, this was Friday. It might be worth asking your provider.

I think it is unfair that some pharmacies take your money then a minute later say not eligible and then refund takes 4-5 days...

I have stable type 2 diabetes so a bit more problematic. Currently waiting to hear from Chem4u about a 5mg pen as another provider refused due to diabetes. That is 2 payments taken from my card and 3 weeks of MJ left..

That’s exactly what Med Express do!

MynameisJune · 16/08/2025 18:57

I’m hoping the one I’ve ordered with doesn’t cancel. They’ve properly taken my money and now prices are higher due to lack of codes etc.

Motnight · 16/08/2025 19:03

Thank you for the thread, Op.

I have lost over 90 lbs in a year. I still have weight to lose. I am under no illusion - MJ has saved my life. I've always thought that I would be on MJ for life, and am lucky enough to be able to afford a price increase. But will have to really budget for it going forwards. Am considering going down a dose. Lots to think about for us all.

GoldieLookingBoots · 16/08/2025 19:04

Think I’m going to start doing the 5th dose from the pen - I’ve ordered some needles and swabs from ukmedi. I’ve just started at 5mg and my new pen- ordered on Thursday from Pillsorted, arrived today. I also ordered a 7.5mg from a different supplier, I figured I can get 6 or 7 5mg doses from that. I ordered that from MedExpress (having been a previous customer of theirs) but I’ve had a notification that they are on a 5-7 day delay so unsure if I’ll get that.

I desperately want to keep going on Mounjaro but not sure if I can afford it going forward.

FurForksSake · 16/08/2025 19:05

It’s taken me a year but I am not using the 5th dose. I absolutely cannot justify not.

SaintAgatha · 16/08/2025 19:12

@GoldieLookingBoots Which needles did you order?

MynameisJune · 16/08/2025 19:14

SaintAgatha · 16/08/2025 19:12

Uk medi do an 1ml sterile insulin syringe. I’ve been using them for my 5th dose. Even before the price increase it seemed silly to me not to use it.

OliviaFlaversham · 16/08/2025 19:15

Thank you for this thread. I can’t order my usual 15 from Asda or a 12/10/7.5…
As much as the price increase scares me, not being able to get hold of it really does too.

This is the most scary part.

This is definitely worse than the price increases but hopefully next week things will start to settle down again and ordering will re-open everywhere.

GoldieLookingBoots · 16/08/2025 19:19

@SaintAgatha
On ukmedi, I searched insulin needles, it’s the ones that go up to 1ml and are 8mm needle length, as @MynameisJune said.

FurForksSake · 16/08/2025 19:20

theres a chance that they will get more stock in in the next week and open orders again. I imagine they don’t hold vast amounts of stock. It will settle down.

It makes sense to take payment before assessment otherwise they could waste clinician time doing the consultation for someone to say they dont want it anymore- it is clearly stated.

I agree with the rest though, the scale and the demand for these products is a different ball game to people processing their private prescriptions or wanting their NHS scripts fulfilled. I hope for the sake of everyone using it that it's not as bad as predicted, I have friends whereby its changed their life and its a hideous position. It was weird how the UK was markedly cheaper than any other country though, but most would presume something wouldnt change so substantially in price in such a short period of time.

CrumpledAnkle · 16/08/2025 19:26

I work in the NHS in mental health with a patient group that is prone to put on lots of weight due to lifestyle challenges and medication. They are also in no position to pay for treatment. I was hoping that the NHS would start to relax their rules on who they would prescribe for. My worry now is that they def won’t now, and the strict criteria will be in place for a long time still.

Sorry, I know my comment has no place on this thread, but I was just musing.

ThatCyanSheep · 16/08/2025 19:26

What’s everyone’s plans long term? I’m terrified now with 6 stone left to lose

FurForksSake · 16/08/2025 19:31

With six stone to lose I’d really think about this as a long term investment if I was you. It will probably be an extra £500-1000 over your journey, maximum. And it is an investment in your health.

I have lost nearly 5.5 stone and am almost at target.

my plan is to eek out my doses a little and do a very slow taper. I was planning at staying at 12.5 for another year before tapering to really make sure it sticks, but I’m not sure that’s financially reasonable now.

gardenangels · 16/08/2025 19:36

Does anyone know how Chem4U operate? Or any other pharmacy with 5mg pens?

QueenOfHiraeth · 16/08/2025 19:37

@FurForksSake Those syringes are not for clinical use so may not be sterile. I certainly wouldn't inject myself with them and, if they are not sterile and you use them on earlier doses rather than the last one, there's a risk of contaminating the pen.
You need to order the medical grade ones from companies like Express Chemist or UKMedi

The long term implications are what’s worrying me. Nothing stops them doing this again in a years’ time. I’m staying on for now, but it’s worrying long term. I had planned to taper down to a mid level dose and stay on for a while for maintenance but there’s not a chance in hell of that now
