Lots of very useful discussions going on on the old thread, so I thought I would continue it!

@Clareat2021 Have you tried other suppliers before they sell out too? The more expensive suppliers don’t seem to be having stock issues according to monj.
I’d rather not pay the extortionate prices so I’ve ordered a couple of extra pens from different suppliers and will definitely not feel guilty about doing so.

Edited

I have an order with IQ doctor but because I stocked up with Oushk, I’ve not done the verification and asked them to cancel. It was only £140 as well 🫠

My supplier has advised no stock of 12.5mg and no date of when will be back in stock, so how do you know this?

Edited

I've read that Eli Lilly have paused all new orders until after the 1st September. Stock should be fine after that, just a lot more expensive.

I guess pharmacies could have stocked up at the cheaper price and then sold to consumers at the higher price.

usedtobeaylis · 15/08/2025 14:46

doodleschnoodle · 15/08/2025 14:43

They are using faux ethical outrage to disguise the fact they are furious they didn’t get the chance to do the same thing really. I understand it tbh, I would be sad if we had to pay hundreds more because we had missed an opportunity. But blame big Pharma/Trump/the way this has been implemented.

And the pharmacies themselves. If there are stock issues then maybe they shouldn't be enabling buying 3 pens at once. I have never been able to buy 3 pens at once, especially not of the same dose, but suddenly today that function is there - supposed stock issues only seem to be impacting their ability to offer discounts, not supply pens.

Clareat2021 · 15/08/2025 14:47

doodleschnoodle · 15/08/2025 14:40

Because there have been long-running stock issues with the higher doses that always get rectified. They will restock as always. It’s always good to not leave it till last minute to reorder for this reason.

I don't. I reorder at 2.5 weeks into my prescription as per my suppliers advice, which is plenty of time to receive an order if selfish people don't stockpile medication. As I said I'm leaving this thread as people's attitude generally of 'me first' isn't exactly helpful advice.

doodleschnoodle · 15/08/2025 14:48

Yes I definitely think it was a bad move telling people to buy 3. They should have limited max purchase straight away. I am pretty sure Oushk have always allowed you to buy 3 as people in the maintenance group have been doing so, but it was never advertised until yesterday. Could be wrong!

I’m afraid I don’t believe for a second that if you had the chance to save £300+ on something you wouldn’t take it. Talk is cheap, but no normal consumer willingly pays hundreds of pounds more than they need to. People are upset because they missed out on the chance to do the same. Understandable. I didn’t want to pay hundreds more than I need to either.

It’s just faux outrage when it’s something that 99% of people would do to save large sums of money.

I was chatting to you all yesterday when all this was going on, on the previous thread. I had time to stock up. I have not done so, because I am not a twat.

I realise you are personally very triggered by the calling out of your behaviour, but you have behaved unethically. Your choice, but take the calling out with good grace rather than trying to suggest we'd all do it.

This is medication that people need, and some of us consider a fair supply to all more important than saving £££.

bugalugs45 · 15/08/2025 14:38

I’ve ordered 2 x 12.5 from 2 different suppliers this morning , the family chemist is out of stock ( my normal supplier ) .
Neither has been approved , I’m not waiting for it ( yes I’m the stock piler, shoot me ) , but worrying that neither company has approved 6 hours later 😬 .
Both pens cost me £30 more than I previously paid too !
ordered from IQ doctor & farmacie .

I ordered a 10mg pen from my usual supplier - iq doctor, and it's dispatched. Ordered a 10mg 3 pen bundle from farmicie yesterday and they emailed for proof of previous prescription last night so I'm just keeping everything crossed it goes through. That would take me through to the end of my journey so I'd be ok with that.

i think patience is required now to just let pharmacies sort out the hundred and thousands of orders they’ve got. I ordered from Pharmacy2u last night, haven’t had confirmation but all I can do now is wait. Trying to contact them about it will just make their already overloaded systems worse.

I'm thinking of switching to them
Have they released the prices that they are going up to in September
I get all my medication through them ,so I just thought it might make sense to have jabs from here to
Although depends what their prices end up as

If I’m a twat then fine. I’m going to be working in the NHS, on minimum wage. This medication has saved my life. If I could save £420, then I will do so. If that makes me a twat then so be it.

I understand why people stocked up and have nonissue with myself. But I also think awareness of how desperate this development makes people feel would mean it’s perhaps not wise to go around posting about how many pens you’ve got in reserves. Common sense says this is going to upset people and right now everyone is upset enough.

I’ll withdraw my £400 in £100 notes to dry my tears with Sad

missingthemidlands · 15/08/2025 14:52

I'm absolutey devastaed by this news as it's the only thing thats ever worked for me, and 330 is too much money each month. Ill have to drop two bi monthly.

I think the ire in this thread should be saved for Trump.

I think there also needs to be pressure put on politicians to secure a lower price again for us on this. I'm saving the NHS absolutely loads now I'm no longer headed for diabetes.

Wegovy have said they wont put up prices, its easier for them to say that as they're Danish and so can withstand the pressure unlike Eli Lily who are in the US.

Unfortunatley my supplier doesnt currently offer Wegovy at a good price.

ThatPearlSeal · 15/08/2025 14:55

Just as an FYI - Pharmacy2u has dropped off the monj price check page, and isn't advertising weight loss injections on its webpage (unless I am being blind and can't see!)

JustPinkFinch · 15/08/2025 14:55

usedtobeaylis · 15/08/2025 14:42

People are mad about people stocking up because it prevents other people stocking up? Where's even the logic in that?

No, because it's preventing people buying a single pen that they need soon.

I've yet to see one single person being unable to obtain their prescription. Especially not from sites that are offering 3 at a time.

doodleschnoodle · 15/08/2025 14:25

Yeah I think it’s easy to post pompously about it, but if someone said ‘You can save £300+ if you do this’, I don’t think there are many people who wouldn’t. It’s a lot of money. The people who are understandably upset are those who either can’t afford to pay upfront or who missed the opportunity, but I’m pretty sure all of them would have taken the chance to save hundreds of pounds if they could.

There are limits to how much I care about random other people v spending hundreds more pounds than I need to I’m afraid. I’m not Mother Theresa and I’m not rich.

Edited

I don’t think it’s pompous at all. While people are stockpiling there are those who aren’t and their supply is being interrupted. I’m just trying to get the pen I ordered earlier in the week but my supplier has now said orders will be delayed so I guess they may be on hold. It’s only my second pen and I don’t have a stock as many seem to. It’s really disheartening.

I appreciate that people want to save money. But there’s nothing wrong with people who either can’t afford to stockpile or are just placing regular orders being disappointed.

Wibbs · 15/08/2025 14:57

I only started in July, but already know I will be taking this for a long time. I ordered a 5mg, 7.5mg and 10mg pack from my provider, but it hasn’t been approved yet so fingers crossed. I see no need to increase from 2.5mg dose at present, but realise it will be difficult to predict going forward.

My husband is seeing his diabetic nurse on Monday and he will ask if Mounjaro would be good for him - I am convinced he will do well with it as he has more food noise than I do. He won’t qualify for it on the NHS as although his HBAC1 levels and his BMI is high he doesn’t have enough other conditions. Hopefully he will be able to order a 3 pen start up pack (2.5mg, 5mg and 7.5mg) before the price hike as well. This would be enough to be getting on with though.

Longer-term, this price increase will make me a bit less risk averse and I may well end up sharing a high dose pen with him by using it as a vial with sterilised insulin syringes. It would certainly make it more affordable and possibly safer than using higher dose pens over a longer period of time. I found using the syringe for the 5th dose really easy.

LifeOfAShowGirl · 15/08/2025 12:47

Just seen this on LinkedIn.

All to do with Trump. This is going to upset the drugs market massively.

Well that can’t be correct because many pp on the previous thread were telling me definitively that Trump’s action would not result in lower prices in the US Hmm
(sarcasm)

It's still on their webpage, it's under the online doctor section. I tried to switch to them last night as they were cheaper but it's now saying existing stock is reserved for existing customers which is fair enough.

No, it’s one thing to be disappointed and upset and that is totally understandable. But another to be calling people vile when the pharmacies themselves not only allowed but positively encouraged people to buy more than one pen to save money. No one wants to spend hundreds more pounds than they need to, and it’s clear that the bitter posts on this thread towards other people using the medication instead of the circumstances that have led us here are rooted out in jealousy and missing out. That’s what’s really ‘vile’.

By all means be disappointed, but this isn’t anything to do with the patients.

jan2310 · 15/08/2025 15:06

@doodleschnoodlei do agree that no-one should be calling other people vile.

I lost 5 & a half stone on MJ, have been maintaining but was so reassured I could go back to it. If I do start to regain will look at Saxenda, as a European manufactured generic is available, or Mysimba, the tablet that is basically an anti addiction medication. What gutting news this is.

I was on mysimba before monjroro
Wasted £300 , because the side effects were awful
I was have 2/3 night terrors every night and waking up soaking wet with sweat
I was so sick as well ,was awful ,
