Lots of very useful discussions going on on the old thread, so I thought I would continue it!

Mood change is already recognised as a side effect of GLP1s - see screen shots below from Web MD (might take a while to appear)

Now I get my dopamine hit from getting on the scales and seeing a loss ,plus going down sizes in clothes

just to acknowledge you post and the above in particular. I understand what you’re saying but it’s obvious that for some people it does have an effect on their mood/emotions and that standing on the scales and wearing smaller clothes doesn’t help with it. It’s two different things entirely. I wouldn’t be surprised at all, that if enough people report the effect through the yellow card scheme it will eventually appear on literature as a side effect.

Oh sorry
Perhaps my post wasn't clear ,I do tend to waffle.
I was trying to say
It wouldn't be a suprise if it did effect mood
As it turns of pleasure receptors in the brain for food ,so most of us get our pleasure from food ,so therefore could be feeling down ,so caused by monjroro

Fatbride · 17/08/2025 09:22

My provider actually sent me the following message about mood changes on my third order so it certainly is a symptom for some.

Dear Patient,

I hope you're doing well. I wanted to take a moment to provide some important information about your treatment with Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and how it may affect your mood.

Both weight loss medications and injectable weight loss treatments, including Mounjaro, have been linked to potential changes in mood in some individuals. While many patients use these treatments without experiencing significant mood changes, it's essential to be aware that these medications can sometimes lead to emotional side effects.

Some individuals may experience feelings of low mood, anxiety, irritability, or depression. In more rare cases, people may experience more severe symptoms, such as thoughts of self-harm or suicide. These mood changes can sometimes occur as a result of the body adjusting to the medication and the changes it brings.

If you notice any shifts in your mood—whether it’s feeling unusually down, anxious, or hopeless—it’s important to stop the medication immediately and seek medical attention. Should you experience any thoughts of self-harm or suicide, please get in touch with your healthcare provider or contact emergency services immediately.

Additionally, we ask that you inform us if you’re experiencing any mood changes so we can offer you the appropriate support and help guide you through your treatment.

Your mental and emotional well-being are just as important as your physical health, and we want to ensure you feel fully supported throughout the course of your treatment. If you ever have concerns about your mental health or notice any unusual symptoms, please don’t hesitate to reach out for help. We're here to provide guidance and ensure that your treatment is both safe and effective.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or need further clarification.

Best regards,

IQ Doctor Clinical Team

Yes there was a study into this last year so very much a known side-effect and has been reported as such.

flameprincess · 17/08/2025 09:52

Its affected my mood for sure. I used food as comfort for stress, anxiety etc. Comfort for boredom, now I dont want food for those things its like my brain doesnt know what to do and I have to face those emotions instead of swallowing them with treats. So I'd say rather than the medication directly making me feel flat, its removed my crutch and I'm forced to find other sources of happiness.

jan2310 · 17/08/2025 09:53

My mood change was very sudden, within an hour of the jab. Thankfully if it wore off within a day but if it had continued I’m not sure if it would have been wise for me to continue. I’ll be going up to 5 soon and will be watching for this as a side effect as it was quite disconcerting.

MiniCoopers · 17/08/2025 10:10

I Had a HRT reviews week with my GP and she was very clued up on Mounjaro (but I think she specialises in peri and menopausal women so it’s not surprising). She was neither positive nor negative about it, just matter of fact that I needed to be cautious if I were to be going to the toilet ‘more’ due to the Mounjaro it could affect the potency of my progesterone but otherwise she was great.

NotPerfectlyAdverage · 17/08/2025 10:22

It's definitely effecting my mood these past few days since I heard it's going up in price and I can't get my next pen! 😂

Seriously I possibly have AuADHD ( various Drs opinions) and every bad habit I remove that gives me a dopamine rush makes me feel flatter overall. But it's also less vitamin and minerals going in. When your mindlessly eating everything you see your diet is more varied. Now I'm having to think about musli with nuts and berries etc. Would be tempting to skip breakfast as I'm never hungry in the morning now. So there's lots of factors contributing to lower mood. Feeling exhausted was my biggest factor personally. Looking slimmer and looser clothes doesn't sustain a dopamine hit for me unfortunately.

MiniCoopers · 17/08/2025 10:30

I’ve registered an interest with Juniper for Wegovy, they’re honouring existing Juniper prices for September and they haven’t been able to say yet what happens after that.

KitsyWitsy · 17/08/2025 10:49

Wistfullysleepy · 17/08/2025 01:26

Mounjaro isn’t associated with low mood so weird she said that

I thought it was?? I certainly am much flatter and anxious on it. Noticeably better when I take a break.

Wistfullysleepy · 17/08/2025 11:19

Whilst it would be ridiculous to say that no-one on Mounjaro suffers from low mood etc, it’s likely to be correlational not causative. MHRA have confirmed they have found no evidence of a link between the drug and depression.

I feel more positive and calm on mj - though I also have an infant daughter, so I’m quite happy and settled for other reasons these days too! But I am finding oddly that I’m a bit scattered brained and fuzzy sometimes, which I never have been before… actually it might just be when I haven’t eaten enough, thinking about it - that could be why!

CloudyYellow · 17/08/2025 11:51

I need a 5mg pen. Anyone aware of anyone actually has stock? Fed up with looking..

Burnserns · 17/08/2025 12:08

Just a heads up it looks like some providers who have stock are wacking up their current prices now. Both Chemist4U and MyBMI have added at least £100 to their pens

@Wistfullysleepyin my case it was definitely causative, although short lived. However I’m unlikely to report it to anyone so no-one would know. I’m just hoping it doesn’t happen again.

sociallydistained · 17/08/2025 12:55

I ordered from 3 past suppliers Friday night but I'm unsure if I'll get any as all pending awaiting approval. MMP only had 10 in and I'm on 15 so I'm unsure if they'd let you jump down. My plan was to do 2 more pens of 15 (I'm actually on 12.5 so 6 weeks each?) and jump down. I also have a 7.5 pen in the fridge I've never used so I have a plan to tirate down (I'm still over a stone off goal though).
Then tbh I'm looking at gray market and Reta...

Without being rude, you don’t know that. Unless you did a double blind placebo test….

Mysticmaiden · 17/08/2025 14:20

I've had low mood, exhaustion ever since starting mounjaro and it got noticeably worse the higher up doses I went. Got to 15mg and it was horrendous. Its not linked to calories as I've ate more or less the same amount with occasional carb refeed days. It is known to disrupt the dopamine pathway which causes those symptoms. I was using L tyrosine which worked wonderfully within a day or 2 to give me energy and the joy for life again, I was doing DIY, going out etc but when I started 15mg I was struggling to swallow vitamins so haven't take it for 5 weeks and within days of not taking it was back to moody, exhausted, no energy, being a hermit etc. Started to taper down, hopefully it will help. I have noticed symptoms improving at end of the week when concentration is lower.
Oushk has an info post on the dopamine disruption on their website so it's clearly a known issue.

You’re right that I don’t know for sure. But given that I went from feeling absolutely normal and positive to a really dark and depressed state within 1 hour of taking the jab, something totally out of the norm for me, I can’t attribute it to anything else. It was very disconcerting. As far as I’m concerned it was a side effect for me. Hopefully it won’t happen and again. And if it doesn’t perhaps you are right. But it was very strange.

Edited

I wonder then if it’s something to do with potential other issues? As for me it’s been wonderful at just calling me. But I’m a very anxious (and suspected ADHD) person.

I think this is very different to the mood changes/flatness that people experience.

I had it as well and I also had increased anxiety. In fact I can recall increasing my dose to 12.5 and spending days in tears. It made me very emotional and the day my grandson was graduating I cried my way to the graduation, through the ceremony even before it started and all the way despite being a veteran of my children’s and other grandchildren’s graduations. I couldn’t wait to get back to 10.

I don't want to see any business shut down over this, but if that is for deliveries before 1st September hope their customers get some extra steps in and walk away from them once this all settles down and tell them exactly why.

It looks like only the 10mg and 12.5mg have been significantly hiked up on Chenist4u

current prices on their site:

2.5mg £139
5mg £149
7.5mg £179
10mg £289
12.5mg £299
