Lots of very useful discussions going on on the old thread, so I thought I would continue it!

He’s sent the letter to them. They have a huge amount of sales from Ozempic. Eli Lilly were just the first to announce

Wegovy is European and Trump has zero sway over them. Of course they may put the price up just because they can but it won’t be dictated by Trump

I spend my PIP on MJ, expect that will not be popular either

An excellent use of PIP I would say

Time4changeagain · 16/08/2025 13:11

@SilkCottonTree You would just show proof of the extra pens you bought when placing your order.

Is all this stockpiling going to back fire on people in the end - if people are getting 3 months supply at once, what happens in 3 months time when they try to re-order but their last order was months ago and they are still not at goal weight, but their BMI is under 27?

I have ordered 2 extra pens, but was planning to stop in a couple of months any way so hopefully these will see me through to goal weight (fingers crossed).

Yep this is my issue - I've got a vague plan to keep taking lower doses from pens I have and one I've ordered (that's how I have extra, I order higher dose pens and count clicks). Once I get to the end of them I will need to stop and I'm very nervous about it. I know I was going to need to stop anyway as it's not affordable long term but having it taken out of my hands is a psychological blow.

I wouldn't be able to do that I don't think, due to taking lower doses from the pens.

I think you'd need to factor that in to titration down if its high dose pens? So start microdosing down as you order a reduced dose? If its low dose pens you could double them up to increase dose?

Being totally honest I'd rather titrate down on a higher dose pen as it's cheaper. Soon to be much much cheaper it seems. As long as it's not open for months it still might be a lot cheaper?

I think unless you jumped as soon as the news hit your chances of getting lots of pens to stockpile is close to zero anyway. I'm not even certain I'm going to get one pen to last until the 1st price hikes when I presume demand is going to fall away.

I know its not advised but IF i had a stockpile of 15mg pens, I'd use them to titrate down then off if prices double. Sod the one month thing. Honestly I wish I had that problem.

But I don't so I will just worry about I can control ( I think that's what got to me the most, I have lost my control and choice and didn't forsee this in my risk assessment to start. That potentially, I'm forced to stop mid journey at a high dose with no titration down to come off).

Im on Mounjaro 7 5 and I thought finally in life im getting a grip on my weight. I started at 20st 2llb and now I'm down to 17.12. These price increases will mean I can afford it anymore. Im heartbroken.

New pricing is all still very much unknown. The way List and Retail prices work I doubt very much that prices will be as high as is being touted today - just 24 hours after the news broke, and its already being announced by a few providers that their pricing will not rise by much, if at all, going into September.

The problem at the moment is stock levels, uncertainty and anger. In a few weeks things will settle down and you will be able to clearly see your options, adjust your plan and carry on with your treatment one way or another.

The pharmacies will do all they can to secure good discounts and keep their prices as affordable as possible. It’s not in their interests to be selling mass produced products that are in such high demand for prices hardly anyone can afford and they won’t.

I do know where you’re coming from - although I’m not taking Mounjaro as it is too expensive for me at current prices even with offers and discounts. I take private medication for another condition and there are frequently government rule changes meaning access to it is limited or denied and it is a horrible feeling.

Voy have told me I would be able to start again if needed after coming off the meds even though I'm under BMI 27 now, due to being on them since BMI 40, so I'm not too worried about that.

It will depend on their costs going forward though whether to continue with that, move to wegovy or stay off the meds. I think I will try without first, and see how it goes.

Novo Nordisk have an oral version of Wegovy waiting to be signed off by the FDA so will not want to jeopardise that. Nor will they want to risk their access to a huge market for Ozempic. Unfortunately Trump does have power in this situation and ultimately as long as the pharmaceutical companies are making their millions, they don’t really care who is buying. They have no loyalty to UK customers over European or US customers and will not be trying to protect UK prices if it means taking any kind of financial hit elsewhere.

I’ve cheated on Oushk too with another pharmacy! 😂 They didn’t have mine in stock so had to order elsewhere (still sticking with Oushk overall though)

SilkCottonTree · 16/08/2025 13:08

Erm you have completely misread my tone - not gleeful at all. I am hoping my pens will see me to goal weight, but if not I would want to definitely want order again after not buying them for a couple of months and hope that potentially saving a couple of ££ now wont backfire on me and others..

Why are people on this thread so combative? 🙄

I got the same response when I posted this. People are very aggressive on this thread.

Prescribing guidelines mean pharmacies are not allowed to prescribe without seeing a valid prescription from the last 8 weeks so I’m not sure it’s discretionary, unless they want to lose their licence.

I also raised the issue of pens losing potency - which has happened to me before. Yes, it shouldn’t happen if stored correctly, but it has happened. And Oushk were recently reprimanded for not storing at the correct temperature by the licensing inspectors

Wistfullysleepy · 16/08/2025 13:40

Also, Oushk are awaiting another inspection result after failing the previous one on a number of counts (including prescribing in volume and inadequate medication storage) so it remains to be seen if they’re even around in a few months. Perhaps why they’re encouraging multiple buys….

The potential to help treat adhd and alcohol and drug addictions is massive too.

I have ADHD and the most surprising bonus to me has been the focus and clarity that I now have. I can't take ADHD meds due to high blood pressure so this could be a literal life saver for so many. It's sad that it's going to be out of reach for a lot of people now.

Nobody cares!

What do you mean?

You don’t care they were served with an enforcement order for dangerous practices and unsafe medicine storage? Cool.

You don’t care the next step would be getting shut down if it doesn’t improve? Cool.

But others might, if they’re relying on them, so I’m letting them know.

Hopefully they’ll turn it around - but encouraging panic buying of multiple pens doesn’t feel like it’s going in the right direction to pass a responsible prescribing enforcement order!

PlayfulWrangler · 16/08/2025 06:39

So sick of these weight loss questions, especially in relation to Wegovy & Ozempic. Society's general reliance on drugs is masking the real culprits of the obesity epidemic, which are processed & UPFs, additives, hidden sugars & fats, fast food & insufficient protein intake. It's not only fucking with our bodies, but our brains also.

IMHO you are playing with fire when we do not know the long term impact of these drugs when taken for weight loss.

Educate yourself and accept there's no such thing as easy, quick fix weight loss. Real long-term fat loss takes time(months & months) and work.

So many overweight people just refuse to put any real work in.

🙄

Any pharmacy that gets a GPhC inspection this/next few weeks is going to struggle with it during this nightmare and it would be awful for Oushk if they were reinspected right now.

No one (I hope) wants to see any business, or owner or staff of those businesses lose their livelihoods due to this, many will need to change their approach to WLIs - such as there will be more focus on Wegovy - and hope they survive. But WLI are now so prevalent in society hopefully most will to keep things competitive.

Oushk have reduced what they are allowing to be purchased now based on their capacity (prescribers, fridges, packaging, dispatching) and stock.

Many doses are either showing out of stock or first delivery dates available are now in September or October.

In hindsight they probably realise they should never have said to existing customers they can buy 3 pens, it was a bit of a knee jerk reaction under pressure within hours of the announcement, but they seem to have reigned it in now by preventing orders being placed if they cannot fulfil them, and hopefully got it under control.

Wistfullysleepy · 16/08/2025 14:00

@WeAllHaveWings they will be being inspected around now as the order was serious enough to be a 30 day enforcement notice. The conspiracist in me is wondering if that’s why they’re encouraging buying multiple pens in case they stop trading

I mean you seem to have it out for Oushk and have been spending the last three days telling us all how awful they are.

@SilkCottonTree I apologise for taking your post wrongly. It didn’t come across like you would be affected and were asking.

There are a lot of posters coming on these threads trying to point out issues with people buying now for later and making people feel guilty for it. Again I’m sorry if that wasn’t your intention.

No I haven’t. I’ve never used them so I have no personal opinion.

I’m just flagging they have a serious enforcement order in place - which if they don’t pass they will be shut down - and people might want to be aware of that before placing all their faith in them.

I do think it was irresponsible of them to run a Live within hours of the announcement with the founder crying and urging panic buying. Seems an odd way to behave to me but 🤷🏻‍♀️
