Lots of very useful discussions going on on the old thread, so I thought I would continue it!

@WeAllHaveWings and @chowmeinz thank you, when I started the 2 years was mentioned by my supplier but I have noticed they updated this in March this year. There are still some providers saying only for 2 years which clearly is now incorrect. So now I know. Thank you ☺️

If you can stockpile pens from one or multiple suppliers, ordering many in one day, money is not an issue. Enough of that nonsense.

I have the money to pay the new prices but why would I when I dont need too? I'm not a idiot. That money could be spent on other things.
Iv stuck them on a CC and will pay it off with savings and then replace that over the next 4 months when I would of bought pens anyway.
Its a no brainer to stock up now then wait until next month and spend an extra £400-£500 on the exact same thing over the next few months.
I have enough now to shift the last stone and taper down before going cold turkey.

I noticed earlier that Medicine Marketplace already has the prices from 1st September showing. Their prices are

2.5mg - £137
5.0mg - £178
7.5mg - £215
10mg - £239
12.5mg - £ 251
15mg - £271

Given they are usually between £109 and £145, it will be interesting to see what prices other providers come out with.

If these prices are true and they stick to them, I don't think they are too bad.

Many of the higher suppliers are currently at these price points anyway.

Yes there is an uptick in pricing, but it isn't in the realms of what some have been suggesting if these prices are in fact correct.

JustPinkFinch · 15/08/2025 16:32

You can all keep grasping to justify why you've done it. But there are many users (spend 5 mins on Reddit) who don't have your financial means, can only order 1 a month and whose pharmacies have now sold out / stopped supplying because of bulk buying.

India4 · 15/08/2025 16:32

LifeOfAShowGirl · 15/08/2025 16:18

I just went to check their pricing and the website crashed. I wonder when the first of the big pharmacies will announce their price increases

Med Express have stated they are having desptach issues maybe 7/9 days before receiving? Hope others are more fortunate.

And that is really very shit. But it’s on the pharmacies for not having adequate stock and controls in place.

I ordered my usual dose early yesterday from medicine marketplace before this news was hitting the headlines, total coincidence, it’s the time I usually reorder. And I’ve just had notification that my order has been cancelled. No reason or further communication.

What dose where you on? MMP are out of stock of 12.5 and 15 according to their website

I’ve said this a few times in various places and been absolutely slaughtered for it.

But the people who've been bulk buying might not have been able to afford to continue, and therefore be without their medication, if they had to pay the higher prices, no? So, they might have ended up in the same position just a little bit further down the line.

I dont need to justify why I have done it, its obvious to everyone why anyone would stock up.

I am actually not referring to you Zion. You don't give a shit and are not coming up with excuses to the contrary.

Actually I've not had shipping confirmed as yet?

I’ve chased it this afternoon and orders are on hold - they’ve run out of stock, but expecting some next week 😭

MynameisJune · 15/08/2025 16:38

10mg

You can still order that on their website so that’s strange. Maybe email them but expect a delay in response!

Yeah I’ll give it a couple of days to calm down. Pretty shit though. I’ve only got one week left and I guess the chaos will still be ongoing next week irrespective of the cost.

I agree, I would be happy with the 2.5mg and 5mg prices, and think I could just about afford them with a hell of a lot of willpower involved. I appreciate though there are a lot of people on higher doses who are just not going to be able to fork out that amount of money for a monthly medication.

SuperSange · 15/08/2025 16:41

So when I’m due to order at month end, I’ll not be able to afford it or won’t be able to get a pen at all. And some of you are saying that bulk buying doesn’t have an effect? Not everyone can afford to buy early.

The price changes were first leaked at 10:30 ish yesterday morning, and confirmed around mid afternoon. That was a long time to plan ahead and foresee getting a new pen

They seem to have confirmed to others that this is the best they can do with what they have agreed. I agree that they don’t look THAT bad but you just know there are places going to take the absolute mick! My provider is already quoting between £178 to £464 (but are also advising they can’t confirm prices yet) wonder if they’ll still price match.

I’m still fairly certain that some providers knew this was coming, the fact they’ve managed to get prices out so quickly plus some had already begun restricting the number of pens from earlier this week. My provider did and said it was due to the supplier.

chipsticksmammy · 15/08/2025 16:44

Just had a missed call from Medicine Marketplace to say I can’t have two pens.

Best phone them back…

But the people who have bulk bought a couple of pens because they can't afford the price hike would be in the exact same position, just a few more weeks down the line. Why is your need greater?
