@Xmasfairy86 - I didn’t know that mushrooms were a source of protein! Love ‘shrooms of any variety so definitely will be incorporating in meals going forward. I make an Ottolenghi chicken soup that includes Grek yoghurt and a Parmesan rind. Really creamy and filling and, despite it being an Ottolenghi recipe, can be easily simplified so not too much of a ‘faff’.

Xmasfairy86 · 21/09/2025 14:16

@SomethingAboutYou i take it out and shred it if I blend the soup. Sometime I just mash it, still shredding the chicken.

Catladyof7 · 21/09/2025 14:40

Focusispower · 21/09/2025 07:45

@Catladyof7 a dose is 0.6ml in every pen that I have used. So if you extracted 0.8 and managed to get most of it in then you’re likely to have had a full dose or maybe even a little more.

I am not sure as was quite a lot of liquid on the floor which i guess had run off my tummy .
No mark where i injected either compared to the pen needle one .

Catladyof7 · 21/09/2025 14:46

Crinklecat · 21/09/2025 10:47

@Catladyof7 try watching a YouTube video on the golden dose. You need to do it slowly and hold the pen and syringe at the same angle to avoid bending the needle

I did a few times. I got the liquid out but it was injecting it as it seemed like the liquid didnt go in me but ran down the needle on to my stomach .

Gingercar · 21/09/2025 19:16

I’ve been having a lovely (veggie) soup lately - butternut and sweet potato soup with crumbled feta and pumpkin seeds in it.
Roast chunks of butternut for 20 minutes in a little oil. Fry an onion. Add to slow cooker with the butternut and peeled chunks of sweet potato. I often add a little curry powder too. Add a couple of jugs of veg stock and leave to cook several hours. I then freeze it in individual portions. When defrosting and reheating I add little squares of feta and a sprinkling of pumpkin seeds.

Xmasfairy86 · 21/09/2025 20:17

That sounds divine @Gingercar

shopping to be done!

Stablegirl2012 · 21/09/2025 20:42

Just wondering about dosage and where people jab. I had strong nausea at 5mg - I’ve been mostly in 2.5mg since starting early June and have lost 19lbs - so dropped back down to 2.5-3mg but then wondered about whether where I jabbed made a difference to how I felt. Last week I tried about 4mg in my thigh and defo had less nausea than when I’d increased before. My suppression is ok, and I’m holding steady, but not losing atm. Anyone else noticed changes to suppression, losses and side effects depending on where they jab?

Chellooo · 21/09/2025 20:51

Well folks, that's my last jab done... i told myself I'd finish my 5mg pen with the golden dose and not order another. The price fluctuations were just too much for me and some weird side effects so I'm going to go cold turkey, and see how I go on my own.
Since June Ive lost 30lbs which I'm DELIGHTED with, so hoping the last bit of the MJ in my body will see off another few lbs....🤞

Good luck. Let us know how you get on.

Picalilylou · 21/09/2025 21:43

Here for soup season!! I like making chicken mulligatawny to change it up a bit. Tuscan bean soup. Libyan soup with lamb and cous cous in. Have to say I do cheat and buy fresh ready made soups quite a bit as well for a quick work day lunch.

RussianDoll76 · 21/09/2025 21:45

Just back from the birthday meal so no jab today for me still planning on the first 3.75 tomorrow but today I’ve been hungry and I ate almost a whole meal. I ate a piece of birthday cake . I drank 2 and a half pints of lager . 😳 I haven’t been able to do any of these things for 3 months . No cake no sweets at all . No excess of alcohol . Feel worried that I am so dependant on this jab . I’ve felt so in control the past few months. Making good choices even when I’ve felt hungry or fancied I know I’ve been using willpower the past few weeks . I was proud of that . Tonight there was no off switch. I feel gutted. Like this needs to be a forever jab . I didn’t want that. So tomorrow is a new day and I will regroup. Tonight I’m so disappointed in myself I really had forgotten what this felt like 😢. Sorry needed to vent.

Gingercar · 21/09/2025 21:54

Don’t be hard on yourself @RussianDoll76. Once in a while you’ll have a celebration, or holiday, or day out and might go slightly off track. That’s life. A big NSV is to get past that, even if it’s gone a bit off track, and pick it up again without giving yourself a big guilt trip and dwelling on it.

Edited to add that I reckon most of us will have times when we struggle, possibly on the way, but probably when we stop. I think you just have to steel yourself ready for it. You can rein it in again.

You will never be able to live your whole life not having blow out days. You should be able to go out, have a meal and a couple of pints, and eat a piece of birthday cake AND make good decisions the rest of the week.

Which is exactly what you've been doing.

So don't be disappointed in yourself. This is the model for the future. Many of us got to where we are because we're doing it every day, pretty much. That's the only thing that needs to change, and you've changed that, using your willpower. You're winning...

Crinklecat · 22/09/2025 13:29

after a few weeks of reactions (wipes/ no wipes/ tummy / thigh), I haven’t had a reaction this week and I think it’s because I took it out of the fridge in advance, which I used to do but hadn’t recently

RussianDoll76 · 22/09/2025 13:50

Thank you @Gingercar& @Bloozie for your
kind words. I think it was the fear of having the urge and being able to eat so much where I’ve not even thought about it for a few months. Today I feel ok and in control so yes you’re right this is the learning curve I guess. I felt like I’d regressed but I am ok and I still haven’t jabbed yet today so I can see that I am still in control . I just don’t want to end up where I started still work to be done I guess. Panic over now though 😊.

You've lost LOADS

RatherTardy · 22/09/2025 16:54

Wise words from @Bloozie and @Gingercar .

we have a covent garden book of 365 soups.
theres some lovely ones in that.

There's a borscht i particularly like, from memory.
The recipe calls for vodka, although I leave that out

Libyan Soup with Couscous recipe | Delia Smith https://share.google/MKuACNrH0fwjUa8sb

Here you go. It's a retro Delia smith recipe, my mum used to make back in 90s! But with lamb and Chickpeas has a good protein content!

Libyan Soup with Couscous

This recipe first appeared in The Food Aid Cookery Book, published in 1986, and was contributed by Mary El-Rayes. It's a truly wonderful soup, meaty with lots of fragrant flavour, and perfect for serving on a really cold day with pitta bread warm from...

Last week I switched to my thigh after being so fed up of feeling utter crap and being in pain with my stomach. Absolutely fine all week! I was going to suggest to others if they jabbed in the tummy and had side effects to try switching. Seems it may be a good move! Glad it helped you too. Well done on 19lb loss! 🥰 I have stalled for a couple of weeks too, but am sticking with it now I am not having the side effects. I hope it keeps that way.

MissMogs · 23/09/2025 06:51

Still not understanding my body. Weight loss stalled for a couple of weeks and then this week, whoosh! 1.7kg so far! Keep waiting for the scales to bounce up again! Feeling a bit lightheaded with it.

Ah, brilliant, thank you. That looks gorgeous.

I did my first injection of 3.75mg yesterday after 13 weeks on 2.5mg. Felt slightly nauseous last night and a bit now if I think about it, but very manageable. It seems to have killed the hunger pangs and food noise that was creeping in. Hoping to get 6 doses of 3.75mg out of the 5mg pen I started yesterday, then will take a view on moving up to 5mg. Still wanting to go slowly slowly.

After a week or so of feeling like a fat thin person (ie, looking in the mirror and seeing someone carrying a bit too much weight), I am back to feeling like a thin fat person (looking in the mirror and seeing an obese person, but not one that will need winching out of buildings in a medical emergency).

My plan is to stop thinking about it.

healthjourney · 23/09/2025 09:33

@Bloozie we are dose twins! I also just took (saturday) my first 3.75mg after 13 weeks of 2.5mg 😆 it has definitely kicked in stronger which i am pleased with as I felt like I needed a boost of satiety and to quiet the food noise. Fingers crossed we both tolerate it well.

I am finding body image to be a bit of a roller coaster on the meds to be honest. I think from a combination of getting fast results and lots of strength training ive started looking at myself in the mirror a lot more and I'm not sure it's very good for me, I tend to pick myself apart a bit too much. I want to start to refocus more on how I feel rather than what I think I look like but it's soooooo hard after a lifetime of thinking negatively about how I look.

DontMowMyMeadow · 23/09/2025 09:49

I'm at the end of week 13 and have lost 25lbs!
After the initial massive loss it's been averaging around 1.5lb a week. I'm finding the side effects unpleasant. Low mood, brain fog and nausea. I stayed on 2.5mg for 8 weeks, then moved to 3.75 for two weeks, felt terrible so didn't dose for the next week.
Started up again with 2 weeks at 2.5, minimal side effects but minimal suppression, so decided to try 3.75 again. And lost my appetite but the low mood etc returned. However I've lost 2lbs this week!
It's jab day and I'm unsure what to do!
Maybe try 3.75, injecting into the thigh as suggested.

Also had a lovely NSV at the weekend. I bumped into my old pilates instructor who said I was looking fantastic! She's spent hours looking at my body in classes over the years, so I'll take that as a massive compliment.

I've still got 32lbs to go to get to target, so a long slog ahead and I think I'm going to have to put up with the side effects as I know I cannot get the weight of with willpower alone.
